For the month of August 2010, Marvel released variants with the theme of Women of Marvel. It was in the same vein of the Marvel 25th Anniversary covers of November 1986 and their 70th Anniversary variants of August 2009.
Stuart Immonen and Laura Martin came up with the layout of the border.
The issues were:
Amazing Spider-Man 641
Avengers Volume Four Issue 4
Avengers Academy 3
Captain America 609
Invincible Iron Man Volume Two Issue 29
New Avengers Volume Two Issue 3
Secret Avengers Volume One Issue 4
Thor 614
Uncanny X-Men 527
X-Men Legacy 239
I own these ones :
Avengers Volume Four Issue 4
Captain America 609
Invincible Iron Man Volume Two Issue 29
Secret Avengers Volume One Issue 4
Uncanny X-Men 527
X-Men Legacy 239
The ones I still need are :
Avengers Academy 3
New Avengers Volume Two Issue 3
Thor 614
Which isn’t too bad. I wish Kitty would have been featured on a cover instead of being only part of the border.
Mary Jane represents Amazing Spider-Man
Tigra represents Avengers Academy
Ms. Marvel represents New Avengers
Valkeryie represents Secret Avengers
Spider-Woman represents the Avengers
Black Widow represents Captain America
Rescue (Pepper Potts) represents Invincible Iron Man
Sif represents Thor
Emma Frost represents the Uncanny X-Men
Rogue represents X-Men Legacy
Looking over the three Frame Variants, only Susan Richards, the Invisible Woman appears on all three variant frames. Which is pretty impressive and she deserves to have such an honor. Also, Storm is on all three frame covers as well.
The ladies that make up the frame are :
Bucky, Valkyrie, Mary Jane, Elektra, X23, Storm
I believe Namora from Agents of Atlas, I could be wrong.
Wasp, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Molly Hayes, Hellcat, Spider-Girl, Invisible Woman
Emma, Hawkeye, Frankie Human Torch, Miss America, Spider-Woman, Pixie, Moondragon
Kitty Pryde, who when I saw these at first, I didn’t think it was but now I can’t remember why I thought it wasn’t her.
Black Cat, Scarlet Witch, Jean Grey, Mockingbird, Black Widow and Rogue
