Happy Halloween, everybody!  I really should have done this last year, still can’t believe I didn’t think of Marvel Zombies has being the comic series that I can spotlight on Halloween.  So this is what we’re doing going forward as I have a few of these issues.

I only own this issue due to the cover, which is an homage to Uncanny X-Men 141.

There is an ad for Spider-Man 3 on the inside front cover.

Ashley J. Williams from Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, played by Bruce Campbell in the films – is teleported to the Marvel Zombie Universe.

What I really like about this comic is that it does directly tie in to the origins of the Marvel Zombies.

Ash sees a fight between Thunderball and Daredevil.  He then goes to the Avengers and they don’t care for his wise cracking ways.

There is a two page Honda car ad, what a waste that must have been!  Element SC, if you are curious.

Sentry comes crashing into the planet.  He has already been infected with the Zombie virus.  I’m not sure which Marvel Zombies miniseries later reveals it is Sentry, but I like how that universe’s origin is in a constant loop.  Sentry is being constantly thrown back in time and they are just reliving these moments in a time loop.

Sentry inflects Warbird, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Luke Cage.

There is a Playstation and Game Boy Advance Ghost Rider game, I wonder how that is?

Ash tells Spider-Man that the virus that is inflecting his hero friends may be the same type of virus that he has to deal with all of the time.

Captain America, who is Colonel America here – bites Spider-Man.

Issue ends with Ash being dropped to the ground (Spider-Man was carrying him) and is all webbed up at the moment.  Ash lands and looks up to see Zombie Hawkeye, Luke Cage and Warbird.

I don’t own any issues but I can only imagine Ash makes it out of this okay.  I know Zombies Colonel American and Spider-Man make it out as they are actively involved in future Marvel Zombie miniseries.

The All New X-Men go to the Ultimate Universe!

Issue opens in the Ultimate Universe.  Tony Stark is talking to Doctor Cho.  They are looking over the portal that links the Ultimate Universe with the Proper Marvel Universe.  Tony wants to buy the portal now that SHIELD doesn’t exist and it is up for grabs.  Just then, the portal collapses and all of their records are erased.

Over the Canadian Wilderness.  Angel is flying X23 back to the New Xavier School.  Laura asks Warren to be a gentleman and not go around bragging about having sex with her.

So this is what the students are up to as the the grown ups go and have Xavier’s Last Will and Testament be read to them.  So I only own this page for the quick appearance Kitty and Illyana make.

All New X-Men 31 Kitty Magik

Which I find disappointing as I really want Kitty to meet her Ultimate counterpart but I’m sure Bendis will do it.  Or at the very least, have the Original Five meet Ultimate Shadowcat.

I keep calling them, the Original Five but really, Cyclops isn’t there so I should just keep referring to them as the All New team or Kitty’s students.  I’ll work on that.

I really do like the use of repeating dialogue so that we know where this all takes place during.  As soon as Angel and X23 land, Bobby wants to know what they have been up to.

Warren gets a quick update and Hank can’t help but comment on how they just accepted and moved on that they were told Xavier was murdered and now they just deal with their day to day routine.

The students don’t know what to do now that the adults are away.  Hank offers that they all go train and study, no one likes that idea.

Jean tries to force Laura into some girl talk.  Laura quickly shuts that down.  The idea of the female clone of Wolverine and a young Jean Grey being friends is a little fun.

Hank is messing around with the new Cerebro system.  Warren wonders if that is a wise idea.  I like how Bendis hasn’t forgotten that he originally wrote that Warren didn’t want to stay in the present.  Now that he has a gal in his life, he’s come around on the idea.

All New X-Men 31 Kitty mentioned

Beast sees one of the lights on Cerebro grow to an attention getting size.  A mutant is in need.  Jean wants to go and investigate.

Kitty is mentioned by Angel.  I wonder if it is telling that he doesn’t call her, Professor Pryde.

The All New team takes off in the X-Jet that the adults didn’t need as Magik teleported them away.

In what is my favorite page of the book, Benjamin / Goldballs / Celeste all witness the X-Jet fly off.  Goldball confesses to wanting to marry Jean Grey.  (Which I don’t get what the attraction is!) Celeste is quick to say that Goldballs has a better chance with Nate Grey.  There is a silent panel which is followed up with Celeste being disappointed that neither of the boys knows who she just referenced but that it is an awesome reference.  And it really is!

At some school with odd uniforms, we see a graduating class.  A gal in the middle starts having a glowing S appear on her chest.  I wonder if this gal’s hero name will be Slider or something like that.  The S shows her various alternate universes.  We see the House of M timeline, right in the middle of the big fight on Genosha.  So it shows alternate universes as well as various points in history of that alternate universe.

The portals close, right as the All New team shows up.  Jean is the defacto leader, which makes sense.  The gal’s name is Carmen.  Carmen doesn’t believe she is a mutant.  She also doesn’t believe these are the X-Men, as they are kids.

Bobby tries to tell Carmen that she is a mutant, he uses humor to put her at ease but it doesn’t work.

Carmen makes a great observation to how, when a psychic uses their power to calm the person, that’s a form of mind control – which isn’t cool.

Hank has a theory about new mutants and asks Carmen if she is on her period.  X23, Jean and Carmen are all disgusted with Hank.

The police start showing up and Carmen freaks out.  The S energy signature appears again.  Bobby is now surrounded by the Mole Man and the Morloids.

Jean on the other hand, is in the Ultimate Universe, and flies (levitates?) to a rooftop and the issue ends with her meeting the Miles Morales Spider-Man.  He recognizes her as a Jean Grey as he met his universe’s version briefly during Cataclysm.

I sort of like the idea of the team being separated in various alternate universes.  I wish Bobby was in a recognizable one, as just being surrounded by the Mole Man and his peeps, tells us nothing.

I’m hoping they can settle Bobby and go get Jean as a team.  Also, that we get Ultimate Shadowcat meeting this team.  That’s all I really want out of this storyline.  Ultimate Shadowcat being told about her Proper Universe version.  If the two could meet, that would be even better!

All New Ultimates Kitty 1

NYC Westside Sewer.  The Ultimates meet Ultimate Vermin!

I like proper Vermin, he’s a little lame but he serves his role fine.  Most people might think of him as a Captain America villain as that is where the legendary JM DeMatteis created him.  I always think of him as a Spider-Man villain.  He was used well in DeMatteis’ amazing Kraven’s Last Hunt.  What I think of first is how DeMatteis used him in his proper Spectacular Spider-Man run, especially in the Child Within storyline.  That whole run is drawn by equally legendary Sal Buscema.  If Marvel ever released an Essential trade of that three year run, I would totally buy that.

I like how Fiffe uses the caption boxes to introduce each character and a fun trivia note.  Reminds me of Fraction’s Uncanny X-Men run.  Black Widow aka Jessica Drew – team leader with proportionate strength of a Spider-Man clone.

Vermin is a tank in the Ultimate Universe.

Is Spider-Man this weak, or is the team fighting stronger opponents?  First Crossbones gives him some gruff and now Vermin still stands.  Great layout with how Vermin punches Spider-Man to the face but look at the bottom right side of the panel.  A little hand phasing Spider-Man out of the punch.

All New Ultimates Kitty 2

 How Kitty isn’t the leader is beyond me.  She’s the best.  Kitty Pryde – Phasing / Intangibility powers, hyper-densing, and can even walk on water if she so chooses.

Cloak hits Vermin with a blast of something, it isn’t dark matter.  What is that?

Vermin runs off after taking a full blast from Dagger.  It only fazed him but just barely.

Spider-Man makes a reference to how the team doesn’t wear face masks besides himself.  Bombshell isn’t on this mission, she’s home being sad.

Great use of Dagger being their beacon of light as they go deeper into the sewers.  Cloak believes he’s been hearing Vermin’s howls for a while now.

Midtown South Precinct.  The cops have Scourge in custody.  His name is Charles Delazny, he’s a high school janitor who is super racist.

All New Ultimates 7 Shadowcat C

NYC Westside Sewer.  Kitty believes she stepped into something gross.  I bet she did!  Dagger makes an awesome reference to how wearing an all white uniform really doesn’t work.  Which I’ve been saying that since Ultimate Shadowcat made that her default color and she was living in the desert Utopia.

The team follows Crossbone’s blood trail to a fancy underground palace.

All New Ultimates 7 Kitty Wait What How

They come across that police officer from earlier in the series that had the experimental drug tested on.  Somehow Spider-Man recognizes him, even though he’s green, he has no nose, no hair and one eye.  He must be really good at recognizing groans.

The Ultimates meet Vermin’s master, Agent Crock, who has some type of technology as part of his head.  Black Widow tries the peaceful introduction approach but that doesn’t work.

Kitty phases her hand through Crock’s head (is his name meant to remind us of Killer Croc?)  and in the confusion, Crock strikes Vermin.  For his thanks, Vermin rips off Crock’s hand.  Pretty drastic response!

Black Widow takes down Vermin with Crock’s weapon.

The police officer now has the ability to merge minds or something and we get a data dump of Crock being former SHIELD.  Experiment were done on him and Vermin.  Now they live in the sewer and don’t steal as often as one would think.

There is a knock on the door and we get the Ultimates and the green officer guy.  One would think one of them would have knocked on the door so that the first thing O’Reilly saw wasn’t her former friend as he slowly decomposes.

Next issue, Femme Fatales – so like Wood’s X-MEN run, a female dominated team will be fighting a female dominated villain team.

Last Wolverine Story Conclusion

So this is Cornell’s final issue of Wolverine, his second twelfth issue in two years.  This leads into Death of Wolverine, which I’m still only committed to issue three of as it has Kitty and recently been confirmed she is actually in the issue as well.  I suspect that she is on the last page of issue two but I’m hoping Hastings has plenty of copies of each issue of the series as I only got the middle one.

Not sure if I committed on this before but I will make it official.  How odd is it that Cornell, who is the writer who initially took away Wolverine’s healing factor back in Volume Five, and has spent two years leading up to killing Wolverine, to just have that opportunity taken from him?  For Death of Wolverine, Marvel has selected Charles Soule.  Was Cornell’s run not that well received?  I liked the few issues I’ve read but for a moment there, it was practically a Kitty Pryde and Wolverine series.  Which I would totally buy, heck, just leave Wolverine out of it and I will keep buying it.   Just seems completely bizarre to me.

Previously, the gang Wolverine was leading has figured out he has been playing them the entire time.  That hurt his girlfriend, Pinch’s feelings.  She has a daughter who Sabretooth currently has captive.  Also, Sabretooth is in a mall, which is where he utterly defeated Wolverine at the end of the last volume.

Also, at some point between issue five and twelve, Sabretooth’s plan has gone pretty well and now has an orb that has godlike powers.  That’ll be important later.

Sabretooth’s Underground Base, Bushwick, Brooklyn.  Pitch and Lost Boy are trying to make their way to the surface.

Above ground, SHIELD is trying to get through the force field that surrounds the mall.  Wolverine is in there all by himself.  Well, there are civilians in there, plus Sabretooth and his thugs.

A lady SHIELD officer tells Nick Fury Jr. that there are alternate reality duplicates all around.  That’s who makes up the bulk of Sabretooth’s army.  We don’t see any recognizable alternate reality duplicates, so what’s the point of that line?

Wolverine shouts at people that he is both an Avenger and an X-Man, so they should listen to him.  I wonder why he adds, X-Man, once you say, Avenger, people should just listen.

Wolverine’s armor is more yellow and tan now, instead of yellow and black/blue-ish.  So it looks even more like Shocker’s costume.

I like how Sabretooth is standing around in a suit.  It makes a nice visual with Wolverine in his armor and later just a pair of black boxers.

Sabretooth is talking to Pinch’s daughter and he is getting tired of talking to a twelve year old.  He turns his attention to the orb that has all of this power but Sabretooth seems to be wasting it on small stuff.

Annie, is the name of Pinch’s daughter.  She wants a magical pony who sings.  That at least seems like a worthy request of such an orb.

Sabretooth has decided to just kill her when Wolverine shows up.  He’s using his armor’s claws to get pass everyone.

Underground, Lost Boy is fighting his good duplicates (as he’s a bad guy), each one has a different expression tattooed on their chest.  Simple way of showing off that there are multiple version of him.

Wolverine and Sabretooth get to have one of their heart to hearts.  Just talking to him, convinces Sabretooth to put the orb down and fight each other like how they always do.  Wolverine breaks down who Sabretooth’s character really is.  Just a selfish guy who wants to fight.  Wolverine takes off his armor and pops his actual claws.

Meanwhile, outside.  Thor is fighting Nazi Thor.  I wonder if he’s from the same universe that Nazi Excalibur is from?

Pinch and Lost Boy make it to the surface.

Nazi Thor is the only duplicate that matters.

There is a page dedicated to the Wolverine / Sabretooth fight.  I feel like I’ve seen the give and take of this so many times and especially in the past few years (which may always be a true statement).  Wolverine starts having a mental monologue.  His strategy is to just rope a dope and it works.  Seems like he breaks Sabretooth’s neck.  He is about to dunk his head in the water and finish this nonsense but Annie is watching the fight.

The orb gets to speak to Wolverine and it seems very emotional.  Too emotional.  Wolverine picks it up and undoes the duplicates and the dome.  Death, but not wearing a purple cloak, appears (to us, I believe) stating she wished Wolverine gave her Sabretooth but she will have Wolverine soon.  This whole thing has to burn Cornell’s butt!

Wolverine wakes up and Doctor Lady Frankenstein has brought him back to life.  Nick Fury Jr. tells him that Sabretooth is in a SHIELD prison cell.  Which shouldn’t comfort Wolverine at all as Mystique just broke Sabretooth out of a SHIELD prison the last time he was locked in there.

Later, Pinch shows up and is taking herself and her daughter away and out of the evil business.  Lost Boy is going legit as well.

A Week Later.  The reason why I bought the issue.

Kitty Pryde is at the Jean Grey School.  She’s following up on Logan.  I like that he’s walking around with a cane.  Wolverine wants to apologize to Kitty for drooling all over her like a rabid dog the last time he saw her.  She plays it off as he was just trying to establish his cover identity.  Which is weird as I’m sure Kitty just told Cyclops how rabid Wolverine was, it wasn’t like Cyclops would then tell a third person and eventually that would work itself to Offer.  But Kitty is a nice gal and just leaves it at that.

For some reason, peeps on Tumblr like to break panels out instead of just having a proper page.  What is that about?

Wolverine likes being mortal, he’s never really thought about having to make every day matter before.  Logan wants to just heal, he will get to other things eventually.  Kitty asked him about taking responsibility.  Oh, if only Proper Kitty knew Peter Parker.

Kitty asks about Storm and his relationship, Logan tells her that they will be okay.  They just like to bone and are not an official couple.  I read recently about a fun game called, Canadian Bacon.  Pretty much like six degrees of Kevin Bacon, but with Wolverine and you have to figure out how to get from the first character to Wolverine but only through Wolverine’s romantic or sexual conquests (and each character’s relationships until you get to Wolverine).  The hint is to try to see how Character A is connected to Mystique as she has kissed a lot of fellas out there.

Kitty informs Logan that he has a lot of friends who wouldn’t mind seeing him on a nice basis.  Shame we can’t get this Kitty in Nightcrawler’s ongoing.  Maybe for his final issue?

Kitty reveals that Logan only ever pretends to want to be alone, he naturally just finds someone else to hang out with.

This story ends with Logan asking Kitty to call him, James.  Which I use to refer to him as only James Howlett (or just James) on the Joe Quesada Message Boards back in they but that use to annoy people.  So I stopped.

There was also a second story (there is actually three but Kitty isn’t in the third one) that Kitty appears in for one panel of the short story.  Now that Utau the Watcher is dead, this is how we do What If Stories, I suppose.

Larroca got to draw Kitty’s butt, which seems to be a popular thing to do these days as seen in Cyclops’ first issue.

 So the guy who is narrating it is a Vampire, for some reason, and the one page that was dedicated to what if Wolverine accepted the healing factor via aliens back in issue 12 of volume five, gets five total pages here.  It just needs the one I scanned above, in my opinion.

The third story is about the bar from the fifth volume that is friendly to superheroes.  The only remarkable thing about the third story, coupled with the second, that it goes to my theory about how Salvador Larroca’s art really depends on who is coloring it.  A moody colorist can just ruin his art and a bright colorist can make it pop off the page.

All New Ultimates 6

Pinna just keeps getting better!

West Side Church.  I really like the use of captions in this issue (and the series) there are a lot of characters and it helps keep everyone straight!

Spider-Man is fighting the Serpent Skull Leader,Crossbones.  He foolishly saves Crossbones life and gets punched in the face, as thanks.

Bombshell is just going around wrecking the place.  She has finally snapped out of Diamondback’s poison and now wants to snap her neck.  Rightfully so, she killed Bombshell’s boyfriend.  Well, ordered his death but that guy was later killed, so next best thing.

Sidewinder moves Diamondback out of the way.  The entire church is starting to crumble around them.

All New Ultimates 6 Kitty Pryde fight

Oh that Ultimate Shadowcat, knows how to be sassy in a middle of a fight!

Black Widow, we learn, is the leader of the Ultimates.  I imagine Kitty is Deputy Leader or something like that.

Cloak and Dagger are fighting side by side against Death Adder.

Those cops, that I’m pretty sure we are suppose to care about, show up.  I just want more team interaction, so anyone who isn’t the team or in the same panel as the team, doesn’t hold my interest.

Scourge, the bloodthirsty vigilante, shows up, he’s ready to deal out justice!  Back when it was popular to guess at who the next character who was going to get the Ultimate treatment will be, I use to say Scourge and Deadpool.  I thought they both could serve the same purpose and this way, they can introduce lesser known characters into the Ultimate Universe, as they kill them off.  At least they made it in!

Scourge kicks a door down and starts killing fools with a minigun out of Fallout 3.  I got the initial impression that he was in a different location than the church.

Bombshell is still pursuing Diamondback.  Serpent Skull members start surrounding Bombshell, which doesn’t seem to be smart with a character who has shown a willingness to end this, permanently, and her power is to blow things up.

Kitty shows up behind her and phases the two of them away from the falling debris.  I can’t tell if Kitty knows why Bombshell is freaking out, I believe it is implied but I’m not sure when that conversation would have happened.  I like how Bombshell doesn’t want a speech and Kitty wasn’t going to offer one.

I really like how Pinna has laid out the comic so that for the past two pages and the next several, Scourge owns the bottom panel, and it gets larger as he becomes the focus of the page.

All New Ultimates 6 Shadowcat 3

Cloak informs the team that as the fire gets worst, they have less opponents.  Kitty wants to be teleported out but Cloak wants to gather everyone first.  Which is smart, he wants to just do one big leap.

Spider-Man and Crossbones have moved their fight outside.  Crossbones gets to punch Spider-Man’s face again, finally shutting him up.

Black Widow is punching thugs with both hands!  We get the first panel to confirm that Scourge is actually in the church at the same time.  I didn’t think it was that big of a church but it must be.

The cops finally come inside as Scourge stabs a dude.  He runs off and sees Crossbones and just straight up stabs him to his chest.  Maybe right below his heart.

Underneath the Westside Church, Crossbones goes into the sewers to get away.  Probably not the best place to go with an open wound.

Spider-Man webs up Scourge.  Not how I would thank a guy who just saved me but I’m not a teenage hero in a half shell.

Bombshell catches up to Diamondback, again, and starts revving up her powers.  She starts bringing the church down around her.

The cops decide that they will not pursue the teen heroes.  They make it seem like they are doing the Ultimates a favor.  The team starts running across rooftops.

            I liked the Brian K. Vaughan era of Ultimate X-Men,s o I would recommend this. The price tag makes me believe that it collections two trades worth of stories so that seems reasonable.

So that’s $24! That’s pretty sweet! Now that I know DCBS offers recently released back issues, I’m going to try to take advantage of those extra discounted titles. I know I need Logan Legacy 1 already.

I wrote All New X-Men 30 & 31 when I meant Uncanny X-Men and then I left off All New X-Men 37!  I can’t believe it took me this long to put my order in!

Uncanny X-Men Volume Three 24

Jean Grey’s School for Gifted Youngsters.  Iceman is depressed.  I’m sure with the Jean Grey School, that it is all new materials.  None of the old Xavier Mansions are present in ant of the new structures.

She-Hulk wants to know about Cyclops.  Beast comes off, even more whiny about his hatred for Cyclops.

Firestar and Nightcrawler enter the office.  I like the flirtation between Kurt and Jennifer.

Wolverine reveals that he doesn’t own the school, he gave the rights back to Xavier.  Storm now worries that Cyclops owns the school.  As if he would just shut it down once he got the lease.

She-Hulk pretends she didn’t know that Cyclops played a slight role in Xavier’s death.  How could she not?  Its the worst kept secret within the Avengers and SHIELD community.

I do enjoy Rachel standing up for her father, that he was possessed by the Phoenix at the time.  Good for you Rachel AND Bendis!  Good job!

At this point, Beast reveals that he always knew where Cyclops was, he just didn’t care to know.  As once he knew, surely events would conspire that will force Beast to see his former friend.

Beast reveals that they are at the Weapon X facility where Logan got his adamantium skeleton.  Wolverine gives Scott props for the move, it is the last pace he would look.

So the away team is – Storm, Wolverine, Beast and Iceman.

Newberry, South Carolina.  So this new mutant that we never seen, is clearly what Xavier’s will is about.  Just a matter of time before it is confirmed.  We see that nothing around the man is left standing, there is a giant grater and then the rest of the still standing city.

Maria Hill uses an electronic means of communication to speak with him.  She just assumes he is a mutant, even though the possibility of being one of those new Inhumans is out there.  Probably because he wasn’t hatched out of an egg?

The guy’s name is, Matthew Malloy.  Which I just like the alliterative name.

A squad of SHIELD agents show up to wrangle him in and he loses his mind again and explodes.  So add another four people to the list that he has killed.

New Xavier School.

With the incoming X-Jet, both the All New and Uncanny teams are waiting outside.  Jean and Emma exchange a few words and Hank gives us a classic, oh my stars and garters.

We see the back of both Kitty and Magik’s head.  What is it they say about good character design, you should be ale to tell who they are from just a silhouette?  Check!

I am curious who else is officially on the list for Xavier’s will reading.  We know Cyclops but is Kitty?  She ought to be!

We get Dazzler in her new uniform, completely skipping out on the whole reaction of the rest of the team to her new drastic look.  I don’t care for it.  Hopefully the rumored Anka Kitty revised uniform is a step beyond Dazzler’s new look.  Does she have to cut up a new uniform every time an old one gets … more shredded?

They go wake up Cyclops and he sleeps in a ruby quartz sleeping mask.  A little cute.

Iceman tries a joke about if Cyclops ironically put himself in a jail or was it only subconsciously.  Not a good joke as it was a research facility and not a jail.  Beast just goes with it as he is a fool.  He also calls Cyclops, Slim, which also falls flat.  These two don’t know how to do insults when they are actually facing the person.

Cool seeing the entire team together!  I like how Magik has her sword drawn.  Cyclops would like to pass on this little adventure.  He doesn’t want anything that Xavier would inherit him with.

Magik confirms that She-Hulk is, in fact, at the Xavier School and bored out of her mind.  Does Magik not like games on phones?  She can’t be anti-fun, can she?  I mean, of course, she can be but maybe it is due to her having no phone.  Do the X-Men have phones?  I know Wolverine does from Amazing X-Men 8.

Beast offers to give the others a lift.  Which Cyclops turns down, which is smart as that would have been an awkward conversation.  So they are in Northern Canada and have to go to Northern New York.  That has to take at least thirty minutes for the Jean Grey School folks.

Magik can do that in just a second.

I didn’t even see that Wolverine wasn’t outside of the plane.  He stayed inside like a scary cat.

So the Staffers leave.  I wonder if Cyclops is thinking of getting a new base.  It has to be not in America, is the old Outback base still not in use?  Cyclops and none of his teams have any connection to it but I’m sure it would be one of the first places the Staffers check.

The students and All New team want to go.  Only Scott, Emma, Kitty and Illyana will go.  I can see two of them having their names on the will reading list.

Scott is worried that he was gifted the Jean Grey School, he doesn’t want it nor want to do anything with it.

Kitty and Illyana have a fun exchange!  I like how heavy the comic tries to be and how light the characters make it.

Fun gag abot how Hijack thinks it may be a trap.  Celeste offers that if it is, they will have to repopulate the mutant race – thus, they should get started soon.  Goldballs gets scared at the possibility, which is odd but funny.

So the will reading begins.  I like how She-Hulk just announces that Xavier is married to Raven Darkholme.  Thus, he is Nightcrawler’s step father now.  Also, She-Hulk doesn’t register the name right away.  The gathered heroes do.

Emma’s smile and instant laughter makes the scene that must better.

Nightcrawler’s face is pretty classic too!  I wish we got a moment of Kitty talking to Kurt, that would have been nice.  Maybe next issue?

So that explains that Xavier Jr. wasn’t born out of wedlock, so that’s also a first for Mystique!

Issue ends with Xavier revealing that his darkest secret is that a lame mutant with exploding powers is out there in the world.  It would have to be a lame secret as we pretty much know all of the lousy things Xavier has done.

Did Anka try to make Xavier look like Patrick Stewart, or am I reading into that?

Not much of a cliffhanger, as this was done in Ultimate X-Men once and Wolverine just gave the new teenage mutant a beer and killed him. Pretty easy solution and it should just be repeated here.

Bendis already did that back in 2004, with his second storyline in Ultimate X-Men, issue 41.  It only has Wolverine and the kid in it.  It is New Mutants, Part Two.

I won’t be reviewing that issue, ever, as it doesn’t have Kitty Pryde so I don’t own it.
