Escape from the Negative Zone, Part One of Three
I see Nick Bradshaw on art and I’m already a happy camper!
I only own this first part and for a silly reason, we’ll get to that.
The main cast of the book is – Hope Summers, Madison Jeffries, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Dr. Nemesis and Namor.
Issue opens with Hope shouting that Scott Summers is a jerk! And yes, that’s all it takes for me to keep an issue. As far as I know, the famous expression of a young Kitty Pryde. The only other issue I know is Hulk V3 9 – which I also own. If you know of any other issues, please let me know and I’ll add them to the list.
Cyclops is already tired of Hope and her mouth.
You know what, when I looked at this issue on Marvel Database, it stated Magik was in the issue I thought the next image was Magik (and I’ll get to why I have my doubts in a little bit) but now I see those little faces in the bottom left corner of the page. Colossus, two brunettes, Cannonball and Magik are all watching the scene from a safe distance.
Hey, Illyana is in all three of these “is a jerk” issues, that’s pretty neat.
Hope is, again, mad that the Lights (after Second Coming, the first mutants after M-Day) are not allowed on another mission. She does wish they would get a new name. I doubt they were ever actually called “Generation Hope.” Scott apparently hadn’t had any time to meet and spend any time with the Lights. He’s busy running Utopia, with Emma.
Namor arrives as the Atlanteans are in darkness as Madison Jeffries borrowed some power to open the Limbo Bridge.
Cyclops hints that they need a new way into Limbo, after that happened. Which I can only imagine is a reference to the Rise and Fall of the New Mutants, in New Mutants 25. Namor was promised that Utopia wouldn’t interfere with Atlantis. Jeffries hits a tube with a wrench and this energy explosion happens.
Emma wakes up and telepathically summons anyone that has energy control, manipulation and absorption powers.
Hope wakes up, along with Cyclops, Doctor Nemesis and Namor, on the other side. Cyclops starts like this is a training exercise but Namor takes offense as both he and Doctor Nemesis have been around since World War II. Doctor Nemesis is as snappy and witty as I’ve grown to love.
Namor goes off to look for water, Hope doesn’t want to be paired with Cyclops but Cyclops wants to team with her so Doctor Nemesis goes to catch up with Namor. I adore how much Hope doesn’t hide how little she likes this decision.
Namor and Doctor Nemesis start fighting with a giant space rock worm thing. Well, mostly Namor fights it and Doctor Nemesis provides color commentary.
Cyclops tries to take this opportunity to get Hope to work with him.
Meanwhile, Emma has Magneto, Doug, Warlock and who I thought was Magik. But that’s clearly Dazzler with her signature energy powers, right? David, Colossus and Pixie are also assisting.
Dr. Rao is medically seeing Madison Jeffries, who is out of commission. Emma sends Pixie to New York.
Back in space, Hope is bragging how she doesn’t need survival training from Cyclops. She had the best teacher in Cable, and I like how Cyclops doesn’t waste any time humble bragging that he taught Cable everything he knew. Well, up to a point – naturally. Is this the most we get Hope and Cyclops together, in terms of actual talking to each other? He should be like a grandfather to her but that aspect of their relationship is hardly played up.
Aliens arrive, Scott tries to talk to them, but they recognize his language as one from Earth and shut him down.
Meanwhile, Namor isn’t doing so well against the worm thingie and Doctor Nemesis shoots it and knocks it out. Namor doesn’t appreciate how much time was wasted.
Issue ends with Cyclops waking up with a classic gizmo on his head that blocks his optic blasts. Hope doesn’t seem overly restrained. Issue ends with the reveal that Blastaar is going to use these two Summers as bait. Oh and they are in the Negative Zone, which is confirmed now.
Story continues in Steve Rogers : Super Soldier Annual 1 and concludes in Namor : The First Mutant Annual 1. I didn’t get either of those and I’m pretty sure I never read much about how well received this three-parter was.

With this, S&FwM turns three years old!

A lot of debate if I should tack on the Big Brother 18 post or wait one more day for it. I figured, this is the big anniversary post, why not make it supersized! This post has something for everyone! (I hope!)
Big Brother 18 : Episode 4 – June 29, 2016
The first Power of Veto competition! Will Paulie, Jozea or Paul be saved from the block?
I sort of hope that one of the Pauls go home, just for ease of typing purposes.
Recap – I guess “Returners” is the official term for the Vets. I don’t care for it. Nicole nominated Jozea and Paulie, as the pawn. BB Roadkill, is the new Sunday competition – Frank won it and nominated Paul.
My wife is informing me that Bronte has been saying some real racist shit, towards James. Not cool Bronte!
Jozea wants to get Paulie out, as he is Cody’s brother from an earlier season. Paul is going to come after the person who nominated him, I’m not sure how he’s going to figure that out. A few noobies think it was Michelle who nominated Paul – so silly.
oh Jozea is in for a rude surprise, he is not as beloved as he thinks he is!
Nicole tries to make sure Paul is okay but he loves eating his giant pickle so he can’t make time to listen to the HoH, not a great game move.
Jozea is in the room with Da’vonne, James and Zakiyah – trying to guess at who is the winner of BB Roadkill – even though all three of them know it is Frank. He’s wasting their time!
Paul sees Bridgette and Paulie doing dishes, they are on the same team but Paul thinks there is so much more to it. He’s spiraling!
Natalie and Bronte get some game talk, I really need them to provide subtitles for all of the whispering. Natalie needs to leave the noobie side and the Spy Girls alliances, if she wants to win this game.
PoV Competition Players! How is this going to work with already HoH and three nominees, who will draw names?
Nicole – Da’vonne – Corey
Paulie
PaulJozea
Nicole gets to draw the two names, if she pulls her name or one of the three nominee names, that person gets to pick who plays. Nicole picked her own name so she choose Corey.
So the competition has Nicole – Da’vonne – Paulie – Corey – all willing to do what Nicole wants. Paul and Jozea will be fighting for themselves and not each other.
My wife is letting me know that Frank and Nicole made a drunken final two deal. She’s pretty with it with the live feeds.
8 Pack can easily run this house, they have the numbers and most of the strength.
James pranking Paul by putting shaving cream in his hands. Classic sleepover prank, though it never happened to me. My wife is letting me know that this turns into a giant fight – that I’m sure is going to be shown later. Paul’s reaction pretty much mirrors my disinterest.
PoV Comp! Michelle is the host!
They are all in dog costumes. Nicole is becoming smitten with Corey.
They have to spin 15 times and build a puzzle, meanwhile, they have to go back and forth through a doggie tunnel thing and hit the button to give them more time. This much more complicated than this comp has been in the past. If they don’t hit the button in time, they are eliminated.
They have 60 seconds to work before having to go back and hit the button.
From left to right –
Corey – Paulie – Paul – Nicole – Jozea – Da’Vonne
Nicole is getting super dizzy! The bulldog heads look like some money was spent on them. Paul wins the competition! He’s the first PoV winner and I’m slowly growing out of like with Paul.
Since Paul was the BB Road Kill nominee, it is Frank who gets to pick the new nominee. I had forgotten that Frank was Sid Vicious’ son. A wrestler that I don’t really know, outside of recognizing his name. Wikipedia doesn’t have a handy list of the teams. Which is pretty disappointing. Pretty fun though that James – Nicole (the second time) – Frank, were all voted out seventh in their respected seasons. That’s where I noticed Frank had his own Wikipedia page.
People congratulate Paul on his victory. Jozea believes this is step one in getting him safe. I would think that there would be a rule where if the BB Road Kill nominee wins PoV, Production just keeps the two HoH’s nominees and not worry about a replacement nominee.
Bridgette, in DR, reveals that with two teams safe, there isn’t many options for Frank to choose They are –
Frank – Michelle – Da’Vonne, Zakiyah – Bridgette
So Frank isn’t going to nominate himself is fellow 8 Pack folks so it has to be Bridgette.
Tiffany reveals to Paulie that she’s Vanessa’s sister, so the two siblings of former houseguests now know each other’s truth. In the house, I believe now that means only Paulie, Da’vonne and Michelle know Tiffany’s secret. Her secret being, that she’s capable of being the worst as Vanessa was the worst.
Jozea believes he is the messiah of the house, something I’m not even sure how that would work. In DR, Frank disagrees. Jozea thinks he is the leader of the house, so he tries to get everyone to vote out Paulie. Oh Jozea, house meetings never go well for the host. Seems super awkward how those not invited are aware of the big housemeeting.
Spy Girls send Bridgette to the HoH to chat up with Nicole while Natalie and Bronte attend Jozea’s meeting. James sneaks in and people are cool with it. Victor, Paul and Zakiyah are also in the room along with Tiffany and Da’vonne. James points out how dumb this move is, as Jozea believes everyone in that room is in a big alliance, when they really are not. He’s providing all of this potential enemies know his entire game.
Frank was purposely not invited, so he is in the HoH room with a sad meeting along with Nicole, Paulie and Bridgette. Paulie knows he isn’t going home so he can just be chillin’.
I would try to keep all of my Big Brother costumes, if I was on the show. I’ll try to keep whatever I could.
Paulie tries to ask Jozea, Paul and Victor about the house meeting – he knows they won’t tell him but he’s trying to show how silly they are. I want Jozea gone so much, he’s not that entertaining. He’s the Da’vonne of this season. She’s really pulled back in her return season.
My poor wife, the edit shows don’t offer her anything new except for better angles. Not even Thursday live shows offer much, if the votes are so well known. She’s excited about the minutes after Thursdays episode as it should be live feeds gold. I’m hoping we can still watch it at 11:15pm but I imagine it will be on after midnight. With how hot it has been, we may still be up. If the next HoH competition is an endurance comp, the live feeds are super exciting! Well, the potential is there.
Paul is gone and Frank nominated . . . Bridgette – she was really his only choice.
Bridgette has this Betty Rubble look to her that I sort of dig.
It is all I can think about, when she is on the screen.
