I can’t believe there has been five Nova comic series! I was a big fan of the Erik Larsen 1999 series.
I really do like Duggan has a writer. If I had gotten this when it first came out, I may have gotten the next issue. This is world’s above that underwhelming Nova Special.
The Previously page actually gave me the information that I wanted from the Special. Sam Alexander, the current and last Nova, is a old of veteran Nova. He is friends with Uatu, the Watcher. Utau told Sam that his father is alive.
Onto the issue.
Nova’s mother and younger know he is Nova. They made a shrine to the fallen Novas.
Nova heads out into space. His mother gives advice to stay away from space girls. He tells her, he met one space girl and she told him she hates him. His mother tells him that means the girl has a crush on him. I should really get the first trade, or this Original Sin trade, as I like his mother. She keeps it real.
Nova flies by the Moon, he notices something is off. He lands and starts making jokes. Which is awesomely paced, but knowing Original Sin like I do, we know it is going to end with a shock.
His response to his friend’s death, murder, is dead on for a young hero / teenager. He panics and starts flying all over the place. He calms down and heads to New York City.
We get to the reason why I bought this, for the Magik appearance!
See her in the upper left corner of the page? Doesn’t take much to get me to buy a comic.
Duggan should write a Marvel Universe title and Baldeon should draw that too!
I love the Spider-Man and Daredevil interaction. Spider-Man’s music library was changed to Elton John and Classical music. Oh that makes perfect sense that is the music Doctor Octopus would listen to. Daredevil is officially living in San Francisco.
Nova punches a Mindless One on top of The Thing. Thing tells Nova that the one responsible party is on the roof. He gets up there and I really like how Thor just speaks to him like a peer. I know this Nova showed up around the end of AvX, so they may know each other, but still.
We see Exterminatrix. She opens fire, and the heroes scatter.
Nova punches another Mindless One onto Thing. Thing hates Nova, which is funny. Ben is wearing the new (and already reverted back to blue) red theme costume. Which would make this the only comic I own with any of the Fantastic Four in their new uniform.
Captain America, Daredevil and Thor take down Exterminatrix. Nova regrets not playing a role in the takedown.
The Orb brings out one of Uatu’s eyes and the Truth Bomb goes off. Placing this at the end of Original Sin 2.
Nova sees his father killing another Nova Corp member, as a third one watched on. Actually, the human male is only a friend of Mr. Alexander, Adomox, the green alien fellow, is a friend of his.
Nova wakes from the secret, laying next to Iron Man. Iron Man recognizes daddy issues but can’t help with them. Nova takes off his he, he never wants to wear it again. Grear placement so it resembles Amazing Spider-Man 50, the first one, with Spider-Man No More. Iron Man is in the Peter position and Nova is where the trashcan should be.
Such a good issue!
