The obituary –

Come May 2015, with Secret Wars 2015, the Marvel Universe that has existed for 54 years is over. Or Timely Comics at 76 years.
The Marvel Proper Universe merges with the Ultimate Universe and a slew of other pieces of various alternate universes. Marvel is about to experience a crisis.
I will be, for sure, buying all eight issues of Secret Wars – those are a lock. I’ll also be getting whatever comics I can obviously tell are going to have the X-Men in them.
Once this event is over, Marvel is going to be cherry picking which pieces of whatever history they want to use.
I feel like I did with DC’s Flash Point, that my DC Universe lasted from 1986 to 2011, a very decent 25 years. My Marvel could end up being from 1980 to 2015, 36 years. But that brings up a great question, if Kitty Pryde is still around and if most of the Marvel Universe is still technically around – which it really could be, but with only five to ten characters that are new, will I still around?
I feel like I may be done with comics and I’ve just been waiting for something like this to happen. I would continue to review my old comics but if the Marvel Universe really is just going to try to appear like the films or whatever, I feel like this could be the perfect jumping off point.
Plus, if this really is the end of the X-Men, or if they are minimized, that’s not really the Marvel Universe to me. On the other hand, if the X-Men are limited to only one title – I could easily continue to support that.
They state that they are not going to downsize all of their comic lines – oh how I wish there would only be like the main event and five side titles – but there will be less titles. Creative teams will remain the same, but will be on various other titles, titles that don’t even exist right now.
Marvel released the April Solicts, but the May one will be intense. All titles have to end their nonsense before the start of Secret Wars – or maybe they have May to wrap things up, either way – Secret Wars 2015, is going to be a giant deal.
I have to admit that comics are a huge part of my life and occupy a great deal of my mind space. I am a frequent commenter on two message boards, I go to Newsarama, UncannyXMen.net and Comics Should Be Good, at least once a day but the message boards like once every hour, ideally. I guess I have eight months to start wind down.
On a slight tangent, did you know it isn’t “whining down” like how a baby whines but “wind down?” How crazy is that. Boy, the English language sure is complicated.
Can believe it has come to this? That Marvel is about to do a not-a-reboot. They are going to respect everything that came before but now, things will be slightly different. Which, now that I typed that, is sort of how the Star Trek relaunch worked. Original Spock remembers what he witnessed in the original timeline, so that old timeline still exist. Until, you know, Spock dies.
Comics are $3.99 and I bet most of Secret Wars will be $4.99, especially if the second issue is double sized.
How exciting of an issue has this been, huh, everybody!
There has been some news about how some titles will be branded with Secret Wars. There will be three sub-brands – Last Days, Battleworld and a mysterious third one.

http://www.newsarama.com/23317-marvel-reveals-final-secret-wars-title-banner-warzone.html
Last Days deals with our Marvel Universe characters getting their lives in order as the end comes.
Battleworld deals with the inner workings of the new Battleworld that is the sole Earth come Secret Wars 2015.
I will probably edit in the third one once that is announced sometime today.
EDIT at 12:10pm, with the third link – Warzones! Which deals with revisiting popular events of the past and how they relate to the future now. These have not been easy to summarize in one sentence. Warzones! will be self-contained, so I get why Marvel is concern that people might skip over them. I’ll be buying the ones that deal with the X-Men – which we have seen a few from the teasers.
. . .
For anyone curious, we’ve passed the number of views we got in the six months of 2013 already and it is only the 22nd day of the year! Thanks ya’ll! We may have passed it two days ago but I didn’t check.
