First comic of 2015, for me! Though it shouldn’t have been. I was at Hastings, excited to buy Wolverines 1 and I bought this issue as well, as I knew it lead into it but it turns out, I have it ordered on DCBS. I’m trying to get that one cancelled but I might end up having to sell the nicer one through Lonestar Comics.
New Orleans, Louisiana. Three guards are watching over Sharp as he silently threatens himself with a knife. We learn that his power is, extreme tactical awareness, battle strategy. He’s like Captain America, except he wants to kill everyone in the room. He was a Delta Force soldier. While talking about it, Sharp has disappeared from sight. He has worked himself up to where these fools are and starts beating on them.
The soldiers are never going to stop hunting the escapees. Ogun wants Sharp to kill these suckers. Sharp is told that the other four escapees have been captured. He wants to know where his new friends have gone.
The Gulf of Mexico. Arcadia. Neuro is being given a tour of the facility. Apparently there is a play of words with Paradise and Arcadia, it is beyond me.
Ogun doesn’t want Sharp to pursue this. Sharp doesn’t care but then Ogun mind blasts him. That’ll teach him.
Over in Arcadia. This place is a higher end version of Paradise. Neuro is shown where his three fellow escapees are being locked in.
There is a pretty cool looking ad for Agent Carter, that reminds me of Dick Tracy.
The Arcadia staff locks Neuro with the other escapees.
Sharp can feel how weak Ogun is. Sharp is willing to kill himself. Sharp wants to be good.
Sharp rips off his mask he has been wearing this entire time. Ogun has to tell him that he isn’t in the mask. Ogun’s mind blast was the last bit of strength he had. Ogun reoffers to be a working unit.
The lady staffer in Arcadia reveals to the escapees, once Neuro wakes up, that Neuro betrayed them.
I sort of really like the reveal here. Professor Cornelius had a plan. Take criminals and try to give them powers. If it works, give the powers to more suited individuals. If it doesn’t, who cares, dead criminals.
There is a break in and an alarm goes off.
Shogun is taking names!
The escapees are trying to figure out a way to break out.
Sharp wants to not kill those he is fighting but Ogun doesn’t want a rogues gallery. Who would?
Shogun is named! His word balloons are now in the Ogun voice. I’m not a fan of the lack-of-chin-strap portion of the mask.
Issue ends with Shogun leading the escapees right into Wolverines 1, they are going to undo the Weapon X Program. This leads into Logan Legacy 7 first, which I had to order with my Christmas giftcard and Shogun meets who will hopefully save the escapees. They all have expiration dates, I believe that includes Sharp. So they want the Wolverines’ healing factors to save themselves.
. . .
It has taken me 111 days to finally review a comic that I bought in 2015! I really do appreciate all of your patience. This, of course, means that we are four months behind on reviewing comics from this year.
For the month of May, I have big plans (which long time visitors probably can take a guess at) but we should be back to a regular posting schedule come June – I believe.
Thanks again!
