I felt pretty disconnected from Rise of the Powers of X 1, so I thought I’ll read Sins of Sinister. It has 11 chapters, but Kate Pryde and/or Magik are only in or referenced in six of those chapters, so that helped narrow it down.
For whatever reason, I’m not a big Mister Sinister fan. I like Kieron Gillen writing Sinister, but I may just be burned out on the character.
Chapters I skipped –

I have no regrets skipping these.
The event just feels built to have chapters skipped, as we leap from 10 years to 100 years to 1000 years, so it doesn’t need to be followed that closely.
Also, reading Nightcrawlers 2, made me realize why I wanted to skip this event, it is an alternate universe with a finite moment, and besides Rasputin IV, has no lasting effects, but we learn about the Dominion, which is what Rise of the Powers of X is all about, apparently.
So it was an interesting event, but you would be fine if you just stick with Sins of Sinister and Sins of Sinister Dominion. oh, and maybe Immoral X-Men 2 that introduces Rasputin IV.
