What an interesting assortment of space adventures the X-Men have had!
. . .
Bendis / Dell’Otto’s Secret War is $75, but you only need to read issue 5 for that Kitty Pryde content
I’m actually tempted to get the Wolverine / Gambit : Victims Gallery by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, $50 is a bit much, but I’m sure I can find it cheaper, plus, it is a hardcover
X-Men : Blood Hunt for $25 is a bargain, and all of these one shots – Jubilee, Magik, Psylocke, and Wolverine were quality reads.

One of the all-time great Marvel stories is just one part of a golden era for X-Men storytelling!
By 1982, the X-Men had become the biggest franchise in comic books. The engine driving it all was UNCANNY X-MEN, where Chris Claremont’s deft character work and potent exploration of the mutant metaphor captivated readers. Claremont continued to find new dramatic heights with artist Paul Smith as they unfurled the growing romance between Kitty Pryde and Colossus, the first appearances of Callisto and the Morlocks, Rogue’s debut with the team and the wedding of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor! Claremont’s writing rose to find perhaps his most poignant and challenging expression in his graphic novel with artist Brent Anderson, “God Loves, Man Kills.” Meanwhile, he collaborated with Frank Miller on the first Wolverine miniseries, which rocketed the character’s popularity into the stratosphere!
So weird they went with God Loves, Man Kills for the title of this, when it should just be From the Ashes, and with the current relaunch, one would think that would only help sell this volume. Or call it the Paul Smith era, besides his concluding chapters of The Brood Saga.
. . .
West Coast Avengers 1 has my attention with Gerry Duggan and Firestar as members, and Jessica Drew doesn’t hurt either.
Marvel / Disney What If Minnie Mouse became Captain Marvel is pretty cute
Wolverine 3, is more Weapon X nonsense, but there’s an unlikely alley, and old enemies, so I’m a little curious who those characters are.
Psylocke getting an ongoing gives me hope that Magik’s ongoing is soon to be announced.
X-Factor 4 promises a Dr. Celicia Reyes plot.
Storm is already dying in her second issue
Mystique 2 of 5, she’s on the run from Nick Fury, and asking help from an old Brotherhood member. I imagine it isn’t Destiny, as she would have been named, so maybe Pyro?
Sentinels 2 of 5, going to take more than Shaw to get me interested in this series.
Dazzler 3 of 4, Lila Cheney & Dazzler in Japan! This should be fun
X-Force 5 might have a death of a team member! hopefully it isn’t Rachel.

EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN #3

EMMA FROST VS KITTY PRYDE!
Kitty Pryde’s determination to stay doggedly away from all things X-Men related becomes more strained by the day as EMMA FROST once again sticks her nose into things. Meanwhile, our new team is finding their rhythm. AXO, MELEE and BRONZE have officially entered the fray!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
I want those two Kitty Pryde covers!
Note the lack of Lockheed on these covers, hmmmm
Dang, issue three, and Kitty Pryde is still resisting, I was hoping she would be on board by now.
At least we’re going to get some Melee content
. . .
NYX 5 is still dealing with Empath and his Quiet Council, hopefully he’s being kind to Mindee
Phoenix 5 is still in deep space
Uncanny X-Men 5 concludes their Red Wave arc, my second favorite title of the relaunch thus far, but it is double shipping with issue 6 as well, where their new mutants start a school in Louisiana. Probably a smart idea to not put all new mutants in one place.
X-Men 7, we learn the history of Merle, Alaska
Negasonic Teenage Warhead gets a one shot.
Venom War finally ends

Maystorm v Surge sounds very interesting
. . .
Wolverine Revenge 4 of 5, I still don’t see Dani Moonstar on the covers, so that isn’t great
Avengers 20 still has Storm, thus, still has my attention
Kitty wants to cuddle with Colossus, and watch horror movies Colossus' ears never pop Kitty meets Tempo for the first as the Acolytes attack the school
Kitty gets to appear in the Endangered Special back up (Part 5)
The Acolytes are searching for Destiny's Dairies, which Kitty is keeping safe. Turns out, the ones she thinks she has are decoys – thanks to Emma We think Blindfold is dead, but Prodigy figures it out, and gets a huge hug from Kitty – with Colossus is next in line
Kitty is trying to get Blindfold out of her coma, but Emma needs to meet with her first. Kitty & Emma exchange codewords (Spark & Flint) Destiny's Dairies are in Flint, Michigan (for some reason) Blindfold wakes up with a vague warning
The X-Men figure out Sinister is removing all of the characters with insight into the future. I love Emma & Kitty here. Emma's "getting nothing of value from Kitty" with Kitty's immediate "phasing!" is just funny. Bobby defends Rogue's team choices to Scott.
Xavier is thinking of all of the X-Men who have died, and we get sweet young Illyana's death from Uncanny X-Men 303, with Jubilee reading to her. Heartbreaking every time.
Danger is overwhelmed, making everyone relive or see past moments, and remembers Kitty and Emma's exchange from Astonishing X-Men V3 2 (Wolverine wasn't there originally)
ending my reread of the original Ultimate Universe
A team forms Kitty is still taking it easy after saving the world in Cataclysm Kitty is living with Jessica, as they are the best of friends Kitty is willing to help, just wants to ease into it
Team v Serpent Skulls does not go well for our teens Black Racer drugs Jessica Kitty takes care of Jessica & promises to join the team, as Jessica gets more & more effected by the toxin.
Kitty got Jessica to Dr. Pierce & he cures her Kitty & Jessica come across Scourge (the other villain of this series) Kitty is out of practice due to taking so much time off I love the team dynamics so much, now that the team is fully formed
Kitty is trying to stop gang violence in the streets Cops are hoping the team will fight the Serpent Skulls Bombshell is mind controlled to reveal their base & wreck it. They remind her her boyfriend is dead & she snaps Ultimate Crossbones is debuted.
The fight between Ultimates & Serpent Skulls heats up Scourge shows up too Bombshell is unleashed as Kitty tries to keep her from making any regrets Bombshell only regrets not getting Pooey how she felt, but Kitty assures her that he knew
Young Ultimates (I forget this is their name in-universe) fight debuting Vermin & Agent Crock They catch up with Detective Schreck, who finally meets up with Detective O'Reilly
I really like Giannis Milonogiannis' art in this issue
Jessica is cool with people living with, but Kitty, Cloak & Dagger are ready to move on They are tempted to cash in on JJJ's favor Femme Fatales debut Cloak & Dagger break up (personally & professionally) Taskmaster is watching the team
Scourge is being transferred so the team gathers (minus Bombshell) Some fun comments made by Kitty, Jessica & Miles regarding team relationships Its been a few days, so Cloak is ready to talk to Dagger Cloak & Dagger are apparently shot, sniper style
Kitty is getting ready to move out of Jessica's place Kitty wants to spend more time with her mom Fun idea about side teams Taskmaster is taking out the team, non-lethally Bombshell shows up but is too late to save Jessica & Kitty but chases after Taskmaster
Taskmaster reveals ROXXON has been behind EVERYTHING! Mister Jip goes Kaiju mode Bombshell hopes they still have Galactus pills for Kitty Police create Terror Inc Everything is building toward an explosive final issue
Final issue Young Ultimates defeat everybody Kitty & Jessica talk out any left over awkwardness from beach day The team stays together for whatever comes next
They don't know it, but Secret Wars 2015 is slowly coming their way
Colossus finally shows up! James breaks up with Kitty – wearing an odd outfit Jean has Farbird drop a bomb that badly burns the Sentient Seed Jean launches Tian Guards to attack Utopia Kitty wonders if she's doing any good
Tian fliers attack Utopia Kitty decides if a war is what Jean wants, a war she shall have James is sleeping with Jean, which doesn't seem great Magma increases Utopia's defenses Kitty offers Colossus to be a War Time Leader
Jean is willing to make a deal that could restore the Seed Kitty asks Rogue what to do, Rogue rather make Jean pay (& hope Utopia can restore the Seed) Kitty steps down & Colossus is the new Leader Jean unleashes James onto Tian to frame Utopia
Penultimate issue! Ultimate Pixie is introduced as she teleports Kitty to Tian James is beaten to an inch of his life If Kitty survives fighting Jean, she'll be considered a war criminal & not welcomed back to Utopia
Final Issue Kitty vs Jean Grey as Tian literally falls apart (Pixie is rescuing people behind the scenes) Kitty wins Government is tried of mutants & just lets Kitty go "X-Men" is used in-story for probably only the third time this series Great series!
I love the idea Magma just raised Utopia up, creating all types of biomes. Not sure how wild animals just showed up. Storm doesn't ship James & Kitty – me too! Government has jerk plans for the mutants James meets with Mach Two's people
Congress is again passing anti-mutant laws Jean cuts her hair & goes to Utopia. Weird as Kitty has seen Jean with short hair before. Should have stuck with 'Karen' too instead of the mind games Kitty isn't impressed by Tian Military is about to invade
General Ross (great choice!) is the one to tell Kitty that the government is taking Utopia back This reunites Mach Two & Kitty Jean is committed to assisting Utopia in hopes this will lead everyone to Tian How much of this is Psylocke controlling?!
Military invades Utopia – General Ross is concern about the future trials he'll be part of Jean v Psylocke – who has been behind all of the aggressive decision since Utopia started Farbird kills Psylocke Rogue has the Seed start fighting back
As Psylocke's bad influence fades, the military leaves We then set up the final arc Utopia v Tian – which was a thing established in Ultimate Hawkeye & Ultimate Comics Ultimates – but I only know from the final arc.
Is this the only .1 issue that actually had a proper issue number before it? This seems overly aggressive of a fresh start Husk was a mole & blew herself up Mach Two is very angry at Kitty as she stopped fighting the war There's only 20 mutants left
The Mutants are given their land in an inhospitable area of Utah The 15 Mutants elect Kitty to be their new leader Fury & Stark provide a crate of food, hopefully that continues Mach Two is making friends
Jimmy is back from his survey & 20% of the land is unusable Blackheath has created a mutant seed & Kitty wants to give it freely to the world, with help from Tony Stark Mach Two threatens Kitty & Jimmy with a gun, that won't hurt either of them
Kitty & Stark present the Sentient Seed to the world Blackheath is upset he's not being given any credit for the seed Mach Two has a plan to undermine Kitty Mercenaries attack Utopia & Kitty is bad at Jimmy for immediately attacking them
Husk has made it to Utopia, stating other mutants are on their way Jimmy isn't mature enough for this Kitty wants the in-fighting top A bomb goes off "destroying" the seed, but Stark has enough to make more
We find out how Storm & Colossus escaped Camp Lake Piotr killed the colonel in charge Storm joins the battle at Camp 14, we see Kitty kill the Striker Master Mold Colossus didn't take the cure So he's clearly going to show up soon, right?
Issue 13 is a Prelude, but we begin the road of Ultimate Kitty Pryde taking her rightful place as a major character in the Ultimate Universe.
The Southwest of America has been given to the Sentinels & the military is squashing uprisings in New York City Kitty gives up all codenames & decides to lead the mutant revolution, but first, she needs to take a team to the Southwest to fix the mess
The Nation is divided (I'm a sucker for a fictional map) Kitty is determined to find land for her & the X-Men in the Southwest Some jerks pull her over & get too friendly with her & harass her later too
The Nation keeps falling apart X-Men handle the goons at the diner & Hudson kills most of them Kitty updates everyone about NYC – Johnny was taken after a raid, mutant kids may be hurt We meet Ultimate Husk! She brings Kitty to . . . Nick Fury!
Starting a reread of the series that put Ultimate Shadowcat / Kitty Pryde in her proper spotlight in the Ultimate Universe.
Shadowcat, Iceman & Human Torch are laying low & hiding out Rogue gets in some trouble & Kitty ponders the entire issue to go help out Bobby's ex-girlfriend. By the end, Kitty agrees to go help out Rogue
Shroud, Iceman & Human Torch get to Rogue, they all fight the Sentinels Shroud is better equip to fight them as she can't be hurt Shroud saves Rogue, who reveals she's on a mission from God So now they have their doubts about Rogue
Shroud is quickly & begrudgingly building her X-Men, as she has Rogue & a kid delivered Jimmy Hudson (Wolverine Jr) to her Quicksilver is working for the government The Bastion looking fellow's name is . . . Stryker!
Shroud is still in the anger phase of grieving Peter Parker Kitty opts out of going to attack Stryker, who is holding many mutants hostage The kid who dropped off Jimmy reveals that Stryker likes likes Rogue Is this Ultimate Maggott with Eanie or Meanie?
Rogue betrays the team Shroud shows up & starts fighting Stryker Jr (his father is a Reverend – pretty clever) Stryker Jr's mutant power is he can control machines, as Nimrods start coming toward Earth
Shroud continues to beat up Stryker Jr The Nimrods are called away Shroud takes all of the rescued mutants back to the Morlock Tunnels A worldwide invite is sent so everyone can come to Tian, a not-mutant paradise.
