Magik V2 1

Posted by John Klein III on January 10, 2025
Posted in: Review. Tagged: 2025, Allen - Ashley, Hesli - Arthur, Magik, Maher - Ariana, Nakayama - David, Peralta - German. Leave a comment

Magik’s first issue of her first ongoing came out on January 8, 2025.

Writer : Ashley Allen

Artist German Peralta

Color Artist : Arthur Helsi

Letterer : VC’s Ariana Maher

I treated myself to the David Nakayama cover.

Ashley Allen wrote the incredible Blood Hunt : Magik ongoing (thus, earned the right to write Magik’s ongoing).

German Peralta drew the Age of X-Man : Prisoner X is where I recognize his work from, and Cable 155 – 159.

Issue opens with someone chasing someone else down a street in Juneau, Alaska.

We see Magik was having a nightmare. I love that Kitty Pryde and Dani Moonstar are there. I imagine Beast is there as he’s currently on X-MEN with her. Cyclops and her are best buds, so that makes sense too. Illyana has a closer tie to the Storm who existed with her from her origin mini series, Magik & Storm. Events that occur there are the main reasons I like to think of why Magik & Storm are not that close. Even though they served together on Kieron GIllen’s Uncanny X-Men Volume Two, as part of Cyclops’ Extinction Team. Cannonball represents the boys of New Mutants.

Illyana wakes up, and I absolutely love that she is wearing a, Magneto Was Right shirt. He is her greatest teacher from her original New Mutants days. I also like how she could have easily worn a, Cyclops Was Right shirt but this is a more fun option.

I also adore how she has a New Mutants, original recipe, class photo, and a photo of her and Kitty. So we get that Kitty and her are still close. I thought the picture of Kitty came from Uncanny X-Men 600, because of the gray in her suit, but I think that is something else now.

Be nice if Kitty had a picture of Illyana in her room, but she barely has an origami Lockheed on her shelf, so she’s not decorating her current room with pieces of her past – which is a real shame.

That is further added by the fact that Kitty had called Cyclops to tell him that today is Magik’s birthday.

I also love how this is her birthday, Kid Omega implies she is having a quarter life crisis, so if she’s about 25, that feels right to me. Though Exceptional X-Men Kitty Pryde strikes me as a gal into her 30s, but Illyana could easily be in the 25-28 age range.

Comics disclosure is complicated, but also, Illyana has been de-aged and aged, that she could be floating anywhere from mid-twenties to early-thirties.

So it is her birthday, but also 2025 marks her 50th year in publication, so it works on a meta level as well.

This surprise party goes over better than the one Nico throws her in Midnight Suns.
(Starts around the 18 minute mark)

All of the attention is too much for Illyana, and she overhears a news report about missing kids, and like we learned from one of my favorite Uncanny X-Men Volume 3 stories, issue 33, Magik likes to rescue mutants when she’s not busy saving the world.

I do love how quick Cyclops is to explain her quick exit. He completely gets Illyana, and her intimacy issues.

In Juneau, we are introduced to Cal and Ren Isaacs, and their grandmother, Anges – the perfect grandmother name. Someone is hunting mutants, and there are jerk protestors who want these two mutants to leave the city.

Magik arrives, and any new readers are immediately shown Magik’s public persona, as well as get an explanation for her soulword.

Magik deals with the demons, and introduces herself to the Isaacs family. She gets her mission statement to protect the other mutants, and deal with the protesters.

Magik misses one of the students, who turns out to be our big bad, the Crow Demon. Who actually is working for the Liminal – a mysterious new organization.

Allen has set up so many threads to pull for future stories that it is bonkers.

The Crow Demon and Magik get into an intense fight, that we see Magik use her other magical skills, and not just swats at him with her appropriately sized sword.

Unfortunately, while Magik is trying to get her bearings, Crow Demon kills Ren. Agnes is trying her best to create a protection spell.

Unfortunately, we lose Agnes as well.

Magik and Cal have Agnes’ spellbook, and they are going to pursue the Demon Crow.

I like how Cal is aware of his grandmother’s abilities, so it isn’t like Magik has to explain to him how mutants and magic work, separately or together. Magik tells him she will pursue the threat, but he insists on coming along.

And that is the first outstanding issue of Magik’s first ongoing.

I’m excited to see Cal be part of, hopefully, her ever growing supporting cast.

Issue ends with someone prophesizing about Magik’s Darkchild persona, that is on the edge’s of Illyana’s mind.

I can’t wait for issue two. I treated myself to the Mark Brooks cover.

as bitter of a pill as it is 😀

. . .

My only goals for this series is that we get 50 issues of it (at least), and a crossover with Exceptional X-Men, that doesn’t necessarily have to also crossover with X-MEN. Though I can only imagine we will get a Magik – X-MEN – Psylocke crossover eventually, as those are three easy enough books to crossover as they share the same cast members.

Cataloging My Collection into LoCG

I was maintaining collection on League of Comic Geeks

https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/profile/jackalsiii

https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com/profile/jackalsiii/stats/collection

trying to keep it so Lockheed was always my top character, but then I really wanted to see what my stats really were, so I started cataloguing my collection.

As I’m pretty committed to getting my entire collection into League of Comic Geeks, this is probably the last day Lockheed is on the top spot I added a slew of AvX titles during my lunch, which added to my Magik appearances

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2024-12-26T20:45:14.182Z

Cataloged another comic book box I never considered Shadowcat wouldn’t stay in my Top 3Now I’m pretty sad 😔Should balance out, I hope

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2024-12-31T01:36:17.372Z

Third Box Down!Shadowcat at 3Lockheed at 5

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2024-12-31T04:53:24.574Z

Another box down!Makes sense Wolverine claimed the top spot, and I haven’t even gotten to my W box. Shadowcat still holding onto 3Lockheed now at 7 as Cyclops took 6Lockheed probably doesn’t have much to worry about from Beast, we’re through Astonishing, and onto E – J

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2024-12-31T06:00:39.353Z

Happy New Year!Finished another box!Logan finally claimed the top spot Kitty at 4 because of StormLockheed at 7, still not threaten by BeastEmma gaining on MagikJRJR took Top Artist

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-01T17:24:47.162Z

Got another box cataloged Nothing really changed, which is interesting Marvel box up next

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-01T22:34:27.862Z

Finished another box! After under estimating him, Beast passed Lockheed, placing Lockheed at 8 nowAbout to tackle my Wolverine box, so expect Logan to run away with the first place

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-03T06:04:30.380Z

Cataloged my first Uncanny Box Irritatingly, Colossus passed Shadowcat, making her place 5Magik and Lockheed swapped at 12 & 13Claremont is so far ahead of Bendis nowTom Orzechowski reclaims Top Letterer I’m excited to see what results from the final box

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-04T14:58:54.467Z

I finished my project!2,445 comics Shadowcat came in 6th, maddening enough to convince me to pay for Pro membership eventually Magik at 12Lockheed at 14I saw Charles Xavier was separated from Prof X, and I have no idea how they justify that

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-04T22:28:59.648Z

Claremont at 500 comics feels impossible, but here we areI like how round of a number that is X-Men Classics help with that JRJR top Artist is interesting Alan Davis my Cover King, thanks to Excalibur Glynis Oliver, my top colorist

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-04T22:28:59.649Z

Tom Orzechowski is my top Letterer, but Cory Petit probably take it eventually Turns out I’m missing three Lockheed appearances, so that isn’t great, nor does it make sense, but I can’t find them so I’ll buy those across a few paydays I have three variant covers I want as well

— John Klein III (@jackalsiii.bsky.social) 2025-01-04T22:28:59.650Z

Thanks for following along!

2025 in Film

Posted by John Klein III on December 31, 2024
Posted in: Film. Tagged: 2025. Leave a comment

follow along as I see what I might be interested in 2025!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_films_of_2025

January

I didn’t know there was a first Den of Thieves film

Mel Gibson is directing again with Flight Risk with Mark Wahlberg and Topher Grace

whoa, we’re getting a new Star Trek film, Section 31, starring Michelle Yeoh. Going straight to Paramount Plus.

Not sure if my son is interested in Dog Man

Ariel Winter is in Like Father Like Son, along side Vicia A Fox and Mayim Bialik. I suppose Dermot Mulroney is the father?

February

Jessica Parker Kennedy is in Good Bad Things

Key Huy Quan is in Love Hurts, that looks like a lot of fun, as is Sean Astin and Ariana DeBose

Olivia Holt is in Heart Eyes, a romantic comedy horror movie

Netflix is making an animated Witcher movie

Bridget Jones is getting a fourth entry in the film franchise with Colin Firth and Hugh Grant returning, and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Isla Fisher joining.

We get to the first film of the year I’m hoping to see in the theater, Captain America : Brave New World. Going to dedicate February to Captain America comics on the podcast.

The Gorge has Anya Taylor-Joy and Sigourney Weaver, with Miles Teller, a survival action movie that could be intense

Cleaner has Clive Owen and Daisey Ridley

Looney Tunes are coming back to theaters with The Day the Earth Blew Up

Legend of Ochi looks very cute, but it is a A24 film, so some big twist should be in there. Unless the twist is the concept itself. Willem Dafoe is in it

March

Sinners, Ryan Coogler’s horror film, starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld

Senior, based on a true story, stars Michael Chiklis, in a story I’m interested in, with Rob Corddry

Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag starring Michael Fassbender and Pierce Borsnan has my attention

The Russos are loosely adapting The Electric State graphic novel, with a huge cast : Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, and Stanley Tucci.

Disney’s live action Snow White finally comes out after hearing about it so much. I didn’t know Marc Webb was directing it, nor that Greta Gerwig was one of the writers. Has Gal Gadot as the Queen.

Barry Levinson’s Alto Knights is coming out with Roberto De Niro and Debra Messing

the sequel to Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad is coming out, I haven’t seen the first one

April

The Minecraft movie! Hopefully better than we think it will be?

in time for Easter, the animated King of Kings – not about HHH, features the voice cast of Pierce Brosnan, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, Kenneth Branagh, and Uma Thurman

Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17 looks like a fun movie, that I’ll watch eventually

We get to the second film of the year I hope to watch in theaters, Until Dawn, I love the game, I got the platinum for it, I would love a PS5 so I can play the remaster of it. The cast is very young, but I recognize Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare is in the game. I’ll take Walker D if he wants to watch it.

The Accountant 2, I really enjoyed the first movie until that third act shoot out. Looks like the main cast, minus Anna Kendrick, is back.

May

We get to the third film of the year, Thunderbolts*, still not sure what the * is about. I don’t have any comics to tie into it, so I keep searching my brain for anything I can do to tie-in with it.

Golden, a musical, is coming out, and I immediately want to know more about it. Great cast : Halle Bailey, Tim Meadows, and Missy Elliott.

We’re getting another Final Destination movie, so it can be available digitally and for streaming by October.

Possibly the final Mission Impossible movie comes out. I finally saw Fallout, so I’m a bit behind.

Live action Lilo & Stitch comes out, so that’s two this year

Neal McDonough co-wrote and stars in The Last Rodeo

Karate Kid : Legends, which reminds me, we haven’t watched the last season yet. So I don’t want to click on the link and spoil myself.

June

Ana de Armas’ Ballerina, set in the John Wick-verse, comes out. I still need to watch any of these films

Pixar/Disney is releasing Elio, so we’ll probably end up watching this in the theater

28 Years Later, I need to watch the previous two films again, it has been a while

my wife has expressed interest in watching the live action How to Train Your Dragon film, so its summer movie season

M3GAN 2.0 has my attention

July

we’re getting Jurassic World Rebirth?! I didn’t even know we were getting a new movie?! Wha?! Stars : Scarlet Johansson, Mahershala Ali, new favorite – Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend

Trey Parker is directing a movie, he must want a new house or island. Kendrick Lamar is in it. Matt Stone is co-producing it

James Gunn’s Superman, we’ll hopefully watch this in the theater

We’re trying another Smurfs Movie, states it is a musical, so that’ll be fun

We’re getting a fourth I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, and yes, Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt are returning. I need to watch the third one, and the tv series.

If I have to choose Superman or Fantastic Four, I’m choosing Fantastic Four, but hopefully we can watch both. I’m dedicating July’s episodes of the podcast to Fantastic Four comics.

August

They’re bringing back The Naked Gun franchise, which seems like a lot of pressure.

We saw Bad Guys 1 very late in the game, so I’m not sure how eager we are with watching the sequel.

We’re getting Freakier Friday, with Jamie Lee Curtis & Lindsay Lohan. I haven’t seen the first one, but I love the idea of this sequel getting made.

PTA’s latest film, One Battle After Another, comes out, has Regina Hall, so that’s interesting, and Alana Haim

We’re getting Nobody 2, which I started the first one, and I should finish it. Did they ever place this in the John Wick Universe? I thought Love Hurts was going to be place in this too, but I might be just looking for connections.

Another Insidious movie, I haven’t seen any of these.

September

Another Conjuring film, I haven’t seen any of these either

My wife will love to know that she’s getting another Downton Abbey movie.

Him, not a sequel to Her

Maggie Gyllenhaal directed and wrote The Bride! A sci-fi musical monster film WITH Christian Bale, Penelope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, and even Jake Gyllenhaal. This should be good

Saw XI, I’m so far behind in these movies

October

Micheal, movie based on Michael Jackson’s life, be interesting how far they go, especially as his nephew, Jaafar Jackson, plays him

Roofman, a crime drama, starring Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, Ben Mendelsohn, Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba

Tron : Ares, I have only seen the first one, and I barely remember that one

Animal Friends, a live action/animation movie with Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn, Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy – not sure who is physically acting, and who is voice acting

Aziz Ansari directed, wrote, and stars in Good Fortune with Keanue Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, and Sandra Oh.

Mortal Kombat 2, which feels like forever since the first one. Ideally, Johnny Cage will be in it

November

Ellen Fanning stars in Dan Trachtenberg’s latest Predator Movie, Badlands.

Bugonia stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, and Alicia Silverstone, a remake of a Japanese movie, Green Planet

Now You See Me 3, I haven’t seen the second one, but I should

Wicked : For Good, I am all about this movie, we will definitely be watching this for our 17th wedding anniversary. I really want an Elphaba Funko

The Running Man, I suspect Glen Powell is going to start remaking all Arnold films, or just keep remaking films

Zootopia 2 ends the month, we’ll probably watch this one too

December

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, we’ll definitely be watching this one for Walker D

Avatar 3, haven’t seen 2, and probably never will

We get to avoid all of the SpongeBob movies

A Hundred Acre Christmas ends the year, odd that it is Amazon Prime, and not Disney, but now that Pooh is in public domain, shouldn’t be too surprising.

. . .

So the films I’m really excited about :

February – Captain America : Brave New World

April – Minecraft Movie, Until Dawn

May – Thunderbolts*

July – Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman, I Will 4ever Know What You Did Last Summer, Fantastic Four : First Steps

November : Wicked : For Good

9 films, and I bet we end up watching at least five more – should be a good movie year

Only one comic gave us the Shadow, Flame, and Magik content we demanded, and that was X-Men V6 32.

Exceptional X-Men is my favorite ongoing of the year, so it makes sense all four titles would rank highly for me.

Blood Hunt : Magik, a one shot so good we are getting Magik’s first ongoing because of it. I’m so happy Ashley Allen is the writer for this series.

Uncanny X-Men V6 1, had both Kate Pryde not wanting to talk to Rogue on the phone, AND! a plush Lockheed, and we got a Lockheed reference.

Fall of the House of X 5, we got Kate, Lockheed, and Ms. Marvel on a mission.

X-Men V6 35 / Uncanny X-Men 700, actually, we see Shadow and Flame with Magik here too, but in a silent standing together moment. Not enough hugging.

Marvel March 2025 Solicitations

Full March 2025 Marvel Comics solicitations: Godzilla and Doom reign supreme

Godzilla vs Fantastic Four, 1 of 6, is a real choice, but I imagine the hope is that the trade is ready by the time their movie comes out in July?
Plus, it promises to involve the entire Marvel U
Actually it is 1 of 6 one shots, so hopefully the X-Men get their proper one-shot, but we’ll be checking for all of the Kitty Pryde, Lockheed, and Magik content

One World Under Doom 2 of 9, lots of Fantastic Four content, and then the Avengers get thrown in at the end. I’ll continue to await X-Men tie-ins

Fantastic Four 30, I love the idea that one way for Doom to defeat the Fantastic Four is to cure Ben Grimm of being the Thing. How to be a jerk, but also a good guy, but also also, weaken her main foes? Doom figured it out.

Doctor Strange of Asgard 1, now that he’s out of being Sorcerer Supreme, he’s gone to Asgard to be the best there.

. . .

X-Manhunt, like X-Man, and Manhunt, combined, for seven parts!

From how it reads, you just need maybe the first issue, and then the ongoing title you are already reading, and then it all concludes in its own one shot. That’s how it reads to me anyway.

Uncanny X-Men 11, is part 1. Emma is on the cover to represent Exceptional X-Men.
I love that Luciano Vecchi Calico variant, and I really hope he can do this series of covers for Exceptional X-Men, I would buy them over the regular covers, no doubt – especially the Kitty Pryde cover

NYX 9, is part 2. Xavier runs to New York City.

Storm 6, is part 3. Xavier runs to Atlanta City. Maggot is on the cover, so that’s cool. X-MEN are also appearing, so Magik content, hopefully.

X-Men 13, is part 4. X-Men and Storm, still chasing Xavier, possibly not to Alaska.

X-Factor 8, is part 5. Cyclops blasting Havok unnecessarily.

X-Force 9, is part 6. Sage confronts Xavier. Apparently there is a X-Manhunt connecting cover, have to see what that looks like.

Exceptional X-Men 7, is part 7. Which is very pleasing on the eyes.
I don’t love that Exceptional’s new villain has already been spoiled to be an old villain before he even made his (not) first appearance.
I can’t say I’m super drawn to the proper cover, nor the Kimoko cover, even if it is done by Peach Momoko. So I guess that leaves the Rickie Yagawa cover for me, or whatever cover Rian Gonzales has. But I’m ordering this issue no matter what
I wonder if Gonzales has the Iceman cover I saw, that connects with the other covers to show the Original Five X-Men, plus Xavier.

X-MANHUNT OMEGA #1

GAIL SIMONE & MUREWA AYODELE (W) • GLEB MELNIKOV (A/C)
X-MANHUNT CONNECTING VARIANT COVER BY PHIL NOTO
VARIANT COVER BY DAVID MARQUEZ
VARIANT COVER BY TONY DANIEL
PROFESSOR XAVIER VARIANT COVER BY EDWIN GALMON

X-MANHUNT FINALE!

  • The X-MANHUNT concludes as Professor X reaches his destination, and his assorted pursuers, friend and foe alike, catch up with him!
  • Alliances will be battle-tested, the blades of betrayals will cut deep with poisoned tips and, when the dust finally settles, Charles Xavier will have to make a tectonic-shifting choice with the fate of all mutantkind in the balance.
  • The world is about to change. This time around, everyone is wide awake.

48 PGS./ONE-SHOT/Rated T+ …$6.99

I’m also on board for buying the finale, as Kitty Pryde is on the cover. Which makes sense as her series is the penultimate issue. She should be sticking around.
I’m calling it now, Xavier just ends up back in prison at the end of this

. . .

What if Mickey and Friends Became the Avengers? Wake up me up when Disney and X-Men pair up again.

The Thing, 1 of 5, launches as Ben loses his ability to be the Thing. So that’s perfect timing.

Nick Fury vs Fin Fang Foom, is just a fun concept

Web of Spider-Verse vs Web of Venomverse, so all Spider-Titles are unreadable for the foreseeable future

Wolverine 7, with both Wolverines, and a promise of a key appearance

Weapon X-Men 2, still delivering on their premise of being a sausage feast.

Laura Kinney : Wolverine 4, has Winter Soldier appearing

Rogue : Savage Land 3 of 5, seems to exist just for the variant covers

Cable : Love and Chrome 3 of 5, if this is your thing

Phoenix 9, still fighting Thanos

. . .

I sort of love the good girl/Darkchylde cover by J. Scott Campbell, that’s probably the one I’m going to get. I have to make sure not to buy my copies too early so that I give myself a chance to see all of the covers.

. . .

Psylocke 5, she’s poisoned, months after Storm was poisoned, that doesn’t seem great

Uncanny X-Men 12, the first issue post-crossover, and we focus on Gambit

. . .

ULTIMATE WOLVERINE #3

Chris Condon (W) • Alessandro Cappuccio (A/C)

ULTIMATE SPECIAL VARIANT COVER BY LEINIL FRANCIS YU

VARIANT COVER BY NIC KLEIN • VARIANT COVER BY MATEUS MANHANINI

VIRGIN VARIANT COVER BY MATEUS MANHANINI

WOLVERINE VS. GAMBIT & KITTY PRYDE!

The Winter Soldier leads a strike against two members of the Opposition: Kitty Pryde and Gambit! But do the duo recognize the man behind the mask?

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

I have to buy issue 2 on eBay, as I can only imagine Kitty Pryde shows up as a last page reveal in that issue, if she’s on the cover to issue 3.
With all due respect to Peach Momoko’s excellent Ultimate X-Men series, BUT! this is the series I’ve been waiting for.
I’m getting the Kitty cover, for sure. Not sure why anyone would want the other cover options.
This is definitely leading up to Magik v Kitty, and I’m not sure I’m ready for this.
I’m beyond excited to see where Kitty goes from here, this is the Ultimate Universe for me now.

. . .

Ultimate X-Men 13, starts its second year, and Armor and Maystorm are not getting along.

Amazing Spider-Man 69, 8 Deaths of Spider-Man is still moving forward, so I was too hasty in writing off the line. X-Men are referenced, so maybe we’re still getting Magik in this?

Amazing Spider-Man 70, Spider-Naut! Cain Marko gets added to the Spider-Mythos, even more so.

I thought it said Spider-Gwen : The Worst-Spider, and thought we were going into a different direction for issue 11.

West Coast Avengers 5 has a variant cover that is just Firestar and Spider-Woman, so they know their audience. Stevil is back, and harassing the team.

Daredevil : Unleash Hell 3 of 5 has an intense classic Electra cover by Ivan Talavera.

Pooluminati 1, is just a fun word to try to pronounce.

There’s been a few April Fool variant covers, and Marvel Fanfare 15 which has April Fool content.
I’m not one for pranks.

TVA 4 of 5, has both Gambit (from a sad universe where Rogue died) and Jimmy Hudson, from the original Ultimate universe. Issue 1 was pretty fun.

Avengers 24, Black Cat AND Storm, on the same team? Yes please

Deadpool 12 and Miles Morales Spider-Man 31 are crossing over.

Sabretooth : The Dead Don’t Talk 4 of 5, I debate if I want a Sabretooth Funko Pop. There are only 9 X-Characters I’m missing, so I should get him toward the end.

Namor 8 of 8, this finally ends. Stingray has missed both issues 4 and 5, and with him, my esteem for this series.

Hellverine 4, still no Aurora mention, but issue 1 was very solid.

Daredevil 19, has Murdock making a decision that will rock the Marvel U, and I’m calling it now, it isn’t going to rock the X-Side

Hopefully once we get marketing for Aliens V X-Men, we’re told the (main) cast pretty early on, so I can secure my copies.

EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN BY EVE L. EWING VOL. 1: DUTY CALLS TPB

From the ashes of the Krakoan era, Kate Pryde finds fresh purpose!

After the fall of Krakoa, Kate Pryde is trying to get as far away from all things X as she possibly can. She’s just a regular bartender now. She’s not getting ready to head up an all-new team of wayward young mutants. Nothing in this title but work, dating and staving off depression. That’s it. No never-before-seen Exceptional X-Men to see here! Except Kate’s continued attempts at living a normal, non-mutant life go laughably wrong as she finds herself in the middle of a brawl started by a couple of headstrong teens with remarkable abilities — which, of course, they’re terrible at controlling. She’s sworn off being anybody’s teacher, mentor, professor, sensei or anything that reminds her of her old life. But will the White Queen force her hand? Collecting EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN #1-5.

120 PGS./Rated T+ …$17.99

buy this, at $18, it is a steal!

. . .

Wolverine Deep Cut for $18, even throwing in Uncanny X-Men 246 and 251, I’m not sure, of the four main issues, I really enjoyed the first two, then it falls part when it delivers on the premise of the title.

Earth X, new printing, for $45, not bad.

Wolverine : Enemy of the State for $40 is a good deal too, better if you can get it half off somewhere.

. . .

Ideally, I don’t have to get all of the issues of X-Manhunt

Here is what I’m committed to buying as soon as I can get options on eBay :

Exceptional X-Men 7

X-Manhunt Omega 1

Magik 3

Ultimate Wolverine 3

four titles seems like a good number to me

Plus, that Spectacular Spider-Man Omnibus.
