This is the first issue I’ve seen that lists “X-MEN created by STAN LEE and JACK KIRBY” I wonder what brought that on but good for Marvel!
I got this for the Lockheed appearance! That’s three issues now – seven, ten and this issue. Someone on the creative team is a fan!
I originally thought that it was either Kitty Pryde or X23 on the cover as Melita never crossed my mind months ago when I first saw the cover.
I’m sure parts of this issue take place before the last issue.
San Francisco, Months Ago. Melita and Wolverine are spending some time going over a Captain America v Nazi Frankenstein.
New York City, Today. Melita is standing next to a Doop stand. Spider-Man shows up and swings away with her. She wants to hire Peter Parker and Spider-Man informs her that Parker no longer works as a photographer. Melita hints that Peter and Spider-Man may have a sexual relationship. She calls him, Webster, which is cute.
She can’t make eye contact with Spider-Man but can after telling him that Wolverine is dead. Spider-Man, after this, must inform the rest of the superhero community.
We get a flashback of Spider-Man and Wolverine fighting Doombots in Castle Doom.
See Lockheed in the Later panel, on the far right edge of the panel, and in the middle.
I like the idea of, Doop Hard, that is a movie I could get behind.
Melita and Spider-Man talk to Quentin Quire, he plays it cool that Wolverine is dead. Spider-Man webs his mouth shut. Shame this isn’t the last issue, as this would have segued into the new series, that replaces this one, Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Now we have caught up with last issue as Storm makes time to speak to Melita. Though at the end of last issue, she mentions having to speak still to both Quire and Storm, so who knows. Storm treats us to a flashback of when she lost her powers in the 80s. So did Wolverine take Storm back to Japan, immediately after they left Japan? Maybe Storm, in-between Uncanny X-Men 174 / 175, went and brought Wolverine back to the States.
Epilogue. The Savage Land. Quire places an indestructible chair with the words, Old Fart Logan, on it.
