So it finally happened. I made something that just wasn’t good. Which has killed my buzz for writing this post.
I had notes on our recipe so I clearly made this before, but we couldn’t recall how it went. Which should have been a sign.
My only note was that instead of using one 6 ounce jar of French’s French fried onions, I should two of those, to add that much more crunch. Which, didn’t seem that bad of an edit. Apparently, I made this before I adopted my happy face system of putting either a happy or sad face in the upper right corner of the recipe. So I knew I made this over a year, maybe two years ago. So it was worth a second attempt.
My wife didn’t like it and Walker Dennis also didn’t care for it, and he’s a big fan of pasta. It was a huge miss. Which, of course, made eating it the next day, not great. Which, we didn’t do. Some items taste better, the next day, but they usually start off tasting pretty good, to begin with.
I’m not sure what happen, besides that I followed the directions and everything was cooked right. Maybe we’re not big french onion dip fans. I couldn’t find a refrigerated French Onion Dip, that was sour cream based. So I had to buy a packet of french onion dip, and mix that with a 16 ounce container of sour cream. Though, I did think we should have mixed two packets of dip into the container as I thought the mixture was going to get lost in there. It tasted okay, as a dip, and the dip directions only state one packet is necessary for a 16 ounce container but it could have been more favorable with two packets.
Luckily, I always start dinner early and usually have pizza money in case a dinner goes south, so twenty minutes later, we had something good to eat and I had left overs that I didn’t quite enjoy.
. . .
I wished we had more Office episodes that we’ve seen, I feel like we only saw a couple of them, so far this week. Our next episode is Season Five’s Golden Ticket.
No new episodes of Person of Interest, as we’re trying to marathon Arrow’s fifth season so we can stay current with the new season. I’m not sure how we’re going to do that with wanting to keep Supergirl and Flash on the CW. It seems like a lot of work to watch our ABC comedies (Black-ish, Goldbergs and Modern Family). Over at FOX, we’re watching Brooklyn Nine Nine. If only the Voice wasn’t two episodes and I wish I was enjoying Jennifer Hudson but maybe by the time we get to the Battle Rounds, someone would have talked to her about calming down or being watchable. Dancing is being a great this season, but I’m glad they are sticking to the one episode a week format.
The Fall season is always the hardest to try to squeeze in our television watching, especially with me working two jobs. Our transmission completely died on us, so now we have that bill and the mechanic told us that our gasket head is slowly leaking, so there goes our tax refund, for next year. I was so looking forward to not working a part time job, which that job is nice, but not having to rely on it for that additional income, and be an adult and simply live on the one income and be home more in the evenings. Plus, our son isn’t napping during the weekend, so we are losing our television time there. It’ll be different if we could watch our shows, at night, but he’s so loud and playful that I don’t want to watch a show that I enjoy, by barely listening to it. Which only really is The Office and This is Us that I really want to watch, those and Person of Interest, as we’re in the last handful of episodes, and I want to see see.
I just looked up Supergirl and apparently her show started last week, so now we’re two behind! Good grief! Flash came back on Monday and Arrow premiere’s tonight, so we’re not crazy behind on two of the three CW shows.
Our next episode of Arrow is Season Five’s Fighting Fire with Fire, nowhere near episode 23, where we need to be. Probably going to stick with Flash and Supergirl and miss out on Arrow and we haven’t even attempted Legends of Tomorrow.
Riverdale came back last night, so I’m behind on that show too. If only I could watch television and not on my Kindle. If I had a choice between watching a show on my Kindle and playing a game on my Kindle and enjoying a podcast, I’m choosing game and podcast, as that’s two things instead of one. I need to commit to watching an episode and then game/podcast, I just have to get there first. I guess that’s what Riverdale will be for me. I don’t want to fall too far behind on that. Season two is going to have 22 episodes, which is super disappointing. That show had at least two filler episodes to hit 13 so I can only imagine how 22 is going to feel. These CW shows could have one or two less episodes and I’ll be completely fine with that. I’ve heard the Marvel Netflix episodes are like that too. Like, three or four more episodes than they really need.
Speaking of podcasts, I’m current with Turtle Soup and finishing the latest episode of Prinze and the Wolf, at lunch today. Turtle Soup 161 had a Kitty Pryde reference, so that’s pretty great.
My wife was showing me how far behind I am with Kitty Pryde related merchandise, I should create Wishlist posts for those items, just so I can be more aware of them. I’m so out of touch with comics and such. If I can get current with Living Between Wednesdays, I’m on episode 72 now, I’ll have a better feel of what is happening in comics and related news. Though neither of them are big X-Men fans so I won’t be updated on the key series I’m most committed too but I’m not all that committed to it now, anyway. I suppose the word would be most “interested” in. I am going to Comixology and still downloading the free comics of the week, but I’m not even current on my comics wishlist, I must be two or three months behind. I’m also not even reading those free comics.
I gave up on Avengers Academy as they did two special events, Inhumans and the current Halloween one, and I’m not where I need to be to even attempt those so that was a crushing defeat. I tried Marvel Puzzle Quest, but when I’m not using Storm, I don’t think I fully “get” that game.
I’ve retried Simpsons Tap Out but that game is daunting and I couldn’t reload my previous Springville, so that killed my buzz for that game. Plus, they are running their own Halloween event so I didn’t want to establish a new city and stay current on Halloween, so I stopped before even really starting.
I’m just mostly looking for a game that I can play while waiting for more lives in TMNT Legends.
Which I’m still super into TMNT Legends. I got my main team to level 34, which feels great that most of them are no longer locked at level 30, so I lost like a week finally getting them to three stars. I’ve gotten a few additional characters, I’m using way too many T-Coins so I have to re-evaluate how I’m going to use them. Mostly, I’m just using them, in the store, towards characters I don’t have, instead of using them to get characters to their next star point. Which I didn’t really do, besides my main team of five – Steranko, Stockman Fly, Leonardo, Karai and Newtralizer. I unlocked 80s Leonardo, so now I finally have a third turtle, two of the same turtle but still. Those two Leos and 2012 Donatello, makes up my third. I really want a Raphael and a Michelangelo. Doesn’t matter what outfit, I just want one each of the turtles. Especially with that Splinter special event wherein only the turtles can fight him and I don’t get many tries with just two turtles. There sets of turtles are – 2012, 80s, Larp outfits, Vision Quest outfits, Current Movie Versions and Original Mirage Turtles.
I have April O’Neil now, Shredder, Dogpound, Mondo Gecko, Hun, Muckman, Mutagen Man and, Karai Serpent. I’m getting close on a few others. I got several of my previous characters up to their second star, so I can get them to level 30 and now they have two moves, making them very useful.
They have been teasing an update with a slew of characters – Shinigami (who I have to keep relooking up, as I don’t recognize her), Usagi Yojimbo (who I adore), Alopex (who should be fun, though I wish we could get Ninjara, but that isn’t ever going to happen), 80s Shredder and Kang, April Kunoichi, Super Shredder (I imagine 2012 version and not Secret of the Ooze), Armaggon (who I really like) and the Space Turtles from season four. We’re in the middle of season three’s rewatch, which I needed as I didn’t really pay that much attention during my first run through. They just came back to New York and got Splinter’s mind back. I recall the last episodes pretty well but I’m really looking forward to season four.
. . .
I finally had a moment this past weekend and got our recipe cookbooks under control. Two three inch binders of dinner/lunch/app recipes. Got Breakfast and Dessert, both in two inch binders. Now I just have to keep these binders updated. Which I’m already behind on doing. We already need another three inch binder, as I’m sure we’re going to fill up that one in no time. Breakfast and Desserts should probably be in three inch binders, as well, but those are like five dollars each! I’m hoping the office gets some banged up ones and I can reuse those as they don’t need to be in great condition.
That’s me this week! Dinner for next week should be really good, I’m hoping.
I’m also thinking of participating in No Shave November and National Write a Novel, which I’ve really been wanting to do it but never have the thought to do it until mid-November or early October (so I’m already in the same boat I’m always in). I’m hoping remembering to not shave, makes me remember to write a novel.
