Besides my wife, on this July 1st, I want to give a shout out to the greatest teacher of all time.
Born July 1, 1899, Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr., a professor of Archaeology. If he was still alive, he would be 115 years old today.

Today is my wife’s birthday, so happy birthday Kristie!
Her request to either not do a post at all or at least a simple sentence of ‘out with wife’ but I couldn’t find a graphic like those ‘gone fishing’ signs.
Another request was to write an article about how alternate universes are dumb. Which she doesn’t like on principle. She thinks comics should just have their own universe and not have splintered ones as those just exist to grab more money. I haven’t told her about how DC’s whole deal is alternate Earths but I’m not a DC guy so there is no reason to really bring it up.
My Kitty Pryde, Lockheed and Magik collection has just recently broke the 1900 mark.
My collection would be shorter if it wasn’t for these alternate universes by :

Which is a total of 381 comics which at 3 dollars a piece is $1,143 which is a very rough estimate of how much all of those comics cost to a varyingly difference.
381 comics are also two and a half short comic book boxes so there is that too.
Grant it, the Age of Apocalypse version of Kitty is worthy of following and I would say the same of Ultimate Kitty as well as the X-Men Forever version. The Magik that was in Exiles was fun to follow while she was alive. I simply adore Mutant X, the only time I’ve ever really followed Havok.
It is hard to narrow down what is a imaginary story and what is an alternate universe or alternate timeline story. Plus I like the idea of seeing the base personality of Kitty’s and how that corresponds with the world she happens to be in.
Also, at this point, I’m a little pot committed. Would it have just been easier to be a fan of Uncanny X-Men and only buying that one title, maybe it would be. That would make crossovers difficult or super fun of an experience – pending on how it was structured.
But whenever I’m at home, I have to make sure that I never talk about the Ultimate universe as she knows for sure that is an alternate universe.
Now, should Marvel just be only creating comics within their proper universe, that could be an argument worthy of being made. A little late now for that though but even the Ultimate Universe has created alternate timelines like the Marvel Zombie timeline and the Supreme Power timeline.
The list above also just represents the titles and not individual comics that take place in the proper timeline that also cross overed to other titles. I’m thinking mostly of titles like X-Men Die by the Sword which was a crossover between New Excalibur and New Exiles.
Also, not included is my Wishlist – which would also be decreased without the alternate timelines or futures
311 total on my Wishlist (counting variants)

I know this is so dumb but I kept having the opening lines stuck in my head and had to write them down. I figure it is dumb but I have to post something.
The film’s twitter account finally released Kitty’s character sheet!
I still wonder how her ability to phase objects through space means she can phase people through time. She is like a human TARDIS.
Ellen Page, so brave to be photographed with that hair!
Been waiting a while for her’s to be released. They were definitely saving the best for last.

Well, that opening scene is introducing, really, this sort of refugee group of mutants that Kitty’s the leader of in the future. And so, in the movie, it’s before we even meet our X-Men, it’s before we meet Patrick, Ian, Hugh, and Halle. We sort of cold open in many ways on Kitty, Warpath, Blink, Colossus, Sunspot, Bishop, and we sort of wanted to show what a pack of these refugees living day to day knowing the Sentinels are out there, what their life would be like, and what an attack would look like, and also setting up Kitty’s power, of being able to send consciousness back in time to warn people so that they can move away before the attack comes. That’s the sort of critical engine of the movie, her sending a consciousness back to 1973 to warn that something bad is gonna happen that they’ve got to stop from happening.
I love that of the mutants in that opening segment, that Kitty is the leader of that band of mutants. Kitty, Warpath, Blink, Colossus, Sunspot, Bishop and Iceman, that could make a decent team. It never has happened in the comics, not even in Exiles.
they don’t list Iceman, so I wonder if he has his own group or something like that.
Simon Kinberg is one of the writer / producers of the film.
I read that Ellen Page spent the most time on set, out of the original cast and second to Hugh Jackman (naturally) so I’ve been wondering what else she could have been doing there besides touching the sides of Wolverine’s head.
So she can send people’s consciousness back in time, just like Rachel’s powers in the comics. I imagine it will be something like she can only send their thoughts back maybe twenty minutes or something so when she tries sending Wolverine back to the 70s, it is a huge deal. Though, I wonder how she gets their consciousness back?

What would it take to be known as the Most Dangerous Kitty Pryde fan?
I would like to start being known as this, as it is one bad arse way to introduce yourself. I just don’t want to have to defend the title. If I don’t go around saying “Undisputed Most Dangerous” or “Current Most Dangerous” could I get away with it, without having to defend the title?
Also, who is the current Most Dangerous Kitty Pryde fan? As I’m claiming it right now!
I don’t want to get kicked to the face, that’s my main concern.
I’m already prepared for :
Who are you?
I’m the Most Dangerous Kitty Pryde fan you will ever meet!
Who?
Then I will be the one kicking them in the head. I’m practicing my kicks right now. If the other person is willing to stand there, and let me get some practice kicking in, I could maybe kick up to the person’s stomach. Maybe.
This is my dangerous face! Beware!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godsend_%28film%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resurrection_%28U.S._TV_series%29
I keep seeing these commercials for Resurrection and keep thinking about Godsend.
Godsend is written by Mark Bomback and directed by Nick Hamm. The film stars Greg Kinnear and Rebecca Romijn as the parents and Robert De Niro as the scientist. The film came out on April 30, 2004. I have no idea why I watched this in the theater, but I did. The story follows the parents as they lost their son when he was eight. De Niro’s character offers to clone their son. When he does, he also mixes in the DNA of his own dead son.
The ABC series is based on a novel by Jason Mott titled The Returned. This series has the dead coming back from decades of being dead.
Writing the above, I guess the two are not that similar but because of Godsend, I have no interest in Resurrection. Resurrection though, does confuse me as why would someone wait 22 years to clone someone? If the parents were 20, now they are 42, and have made peace with the fact that their son is dead. I guess that’s the point of the show but ooof, I can’t sit through that.
Sort of like NBC’s the Blacklist and how they promoted this secret that we all knew wouldn’t be answered by the first episode’s end. Which really kills my buzz for these season long storyarcs. I do like how CBS’s Intelligence hinted at a season long arc, and it must not have tested well as they nipped that in the bud after three episodes.
I do like how Resurrection has Kurtwood Smith in it, that guy deserves to escape That 70s Show. I know he was on 24 but he didn’t work again for a while after that.
Anyways, the Resurrection was picked up for a season but if the ratings are not there, then who knows how many episodes we’ll get.
Here is my current Pull List :
Definite :
All New X-Men
All New Ultimates
Marvel Knights X-Men (mini)
Uncanny X-Men
Maybes :
Uncanny Avengers (practically getting every or every other issue as of late)
Short Term :
Guardians of the Galaxy (four part crossover with All New)
Deadpool 27, the Wedding Issue
I like to keep track of the countries that only had one delegate at the Olympics, this year, we have 18 countries! Though it may not seem impressive when you see some of the rankings, just know this, that all of these incredible athletes can beat me any time they wanted to challenge me. I would ask, though, that they let me at least train for a year so that it isn’t as embarrassing for me. It would still be a huge waste of their time but at least I could say that I was at my best. These athletes are a credit to their countries and they did incredible!
People seem to only interested in the top three athletes and so these heroes, who should be known as their entire country is counting on them to compete and compete well, go unacknowledged. I do wonder how their country’s footage of the games are covered. Is it nonstop coverage of only them up to their competition and then you see the entire show and then the next two days is following them still? I would like to know. I can only imagine they have a permanent newsteam that follows them about from opening to closing ceremonies.

I wish the Kitty cover was better. I wish she had a more distinguish look. Instead it looks like something Ellen Page was already wearing and production didn’t want to bother with a new outfit.
Jennifer Lawrence looks great as Mystique.
I really like Fassbender in the proper Magneto uniform.
How amazing do the Sentinels look?
Poor Anna Paquin, she is in the same pose so many bad cheesecake comic artists place comic book ladies in. Not flattering in either medium.
I also feel bad about Paquin being cut out of the movie, yet is part of the marketing materials. Hopefully, Singer puts her back into the film.
My wife pointed out that the cover logos are either in blue and purple. Took me a few seconds to figure out the significance but blue is the past and purple is the future / present. Nice touch.
. . .
Update May 4, 2014 :
Empire posted 25 ‘new’ posters on their website, but really, they are the same but with a different background and no logos.
So, it is cool but not worthy of a new post.
