The show is very British and I couldn’t stop thinking about that, as they drive cars and always getting on the wrong side of it and their steering wheels are wrong too! I kid, I kid but I kept noticing it as the characters do drive for a bit.
Alex Lawther plays James and Jessica Barden plays Alyssa.
The show is based on a comic by Charles S. Forsman.
Thanks to Fantagraphics Books Inc. for hosting their own video regarding the book.
I’ve added the book to my wife’s Amazon list so maybe I’ll get it, one of these days.
The two cops are amazing and I really liked their chemistry too.
I like how the show can be broken down to three plots or scenes: Where it starts, when they get to the house and the aftermath. I probably could rewatch the show and get more of a two episode breakdown, as I bet every two episodes work as a chapter but maybe it doesn’t quite neatly fit into that, as well.
Vulture goes into detail about the differences between the book and the show. The comic sounds even more intense (which makes sense) and covers more space, which also makes sense. I should really check it out. Amazon had a hardcover for only $15, which seems very reasonable.
I’m not sure how else I can convince you fine people to check out the show but each episode is between twenty to twenty-two minutes but move so quickly that I had saw the first three before realizing I was already almost halfway done with the show.
I found this video last night –
Thanks to YouTuber GossipVal1 for hosting the video.
I found several other fun tribute videos but I went back to this one at the end. Such an interesting couple and the show lends itself to so many great songs!
I was writing this for another post but then I realized there is enough here for a separate post. I’ve been thinking lately about how I could do a quick recipe post and then the “what I watched/listen to last week” as a separate post, but that seems silly as the recipe posts are never very long.
keep thinking about, once I have the PS4 hooked up, when am I even going to play any games? I might try to wake up at 5am and play, but my wife seems to wake up around 4am and sadly, can’t go back to sleep so that might not work. I can try to do it on my Shopko nights but if my son is still awake (he tries to stay up to see me) then I won’t be playing on those nights. Just not sure when I’ll be able to do it. When he naps, on the weekends, we try to watch a show but he has not been taking naps so I’m not sure. If he had a sibling, he wouldn’t need so much attention but I work so much, that I like to give him so much attention. The waking up early is probably my best option. This is definitely a first world problem but I don’t often get those. It’ll probably be used for Netflix and Hulu, mostly, but I’m getting a few games that I’m hoping to actually play on a frequent basis.
I keep reading lists of Must Own games for the PS4. I’m getting Grand Theft Auto V and Fallout 4. I saw that Gamestop has the Game of the Year edition of Fallout 4, so I’l have to buy the DLC pack. I also saw that you can get KITT (the car from Knight Rider) in GTAV, so I’m going to want to do that as early as possible. Though I can’t find the step by step process on how to do it. I saw that it is super expensive and is part of a DLC pack, so I’ll have to download that one. I just looked up the word for that DLC and now I’m seeing that GTA Online might be a separate thing? Is it separate from V or is that just the fancy word for the multiplayer mode? KITT is in the Import / Export DLC, one of the later cars. It isn’t a separate game on Amazon so it must be within GTA V. I guess I’ll find out soon.
I’m also hoping to get the Uncharted Trilogy (for the third game) and 4, plus Lost Legacy. I’ve been also wanting The Last of Us (also by Naughty Dogs – who develops the Uncharted series). But then I read (or was reminded) that isn’t the Ellen Page game, Beyond : Two Souls is which there is a double game of that and Heavy Rain, that I really want.
Speaking of Naughty Dogs, my wife is getting the Crash Bandicoot trilogy, which I’ll probably end up playing for her. We’re also getting Little Big Planet 3 for the family too. My son likes racing games so I need to add Gran Turismo Sport for that purpose. I may be wrong, LBP3 might be a future purchase, I’m not sure now.
I just checked metacritic.com for best racing games for PS4 –
I’m just going to go ahead and switch out Gran Turismo for F1, as I’m not loyal to any racing game franchise.
I want to also get Batman Arkham Knight, to finish that story. I still haven’t played Origins either but I’ve heard I can skip that one.
I also want to get TMNT : Mutants in Manhattan. I’ve heard it isn’t a stellar game but it is pretty good for a Ninja Turtles game. Like, people wanted more from it but what they got, was pretty decent.
In researching games, I found some that sound super interesting games.
Life is Strange sounds super interesting.
Hellblade : Senua’s Sacrifice sounds like a brand new type of game.
Rachelle of Living Between Wednesdays talks about Lego Marvel’s Avengers, with how fun the Farmhouse segments were.
I’m a nut for Peggle so that could be fun on the PS4. Maybe a tad silly but another family game.
I never got to play Red Dead Redemption, and it looks amazing. The prequel comes out next year as does Far Cry 5. I’ve never played a Far Cry game before, but it is set in Montana (where I live) so I feel compelled to play it. It is a fictional city, of course, plus super stereotypical of who people think Montanans are but I’m not from here, so I’m fine with it.
I keep reading how much there is to do in Witcher 3 but I’m not the biggest sorcery / fantasy guy.
Until Dawn also sounds like an incredible game, I’ll want to get that at some point.
I’m regretting getting two massive open world games in Fallout 4 and Grand Theft Auto 5. I wouldn’t mind a smaller or more linear game to play, along side those two.
Then my research took me to easy games to platinum and found a fun list of those games.
Some sound fun and easy but I’m not sure if I want to throw down twenty dollars just for easy trophies. Though I’m curious about the TellTale games, when I wasn’t before reading that list.
Which has several games on it that seem like they would be fun for my wife and me. She likes a good puzzle game, and I like games that push the graphic card, to justify the system and the fancy TV.
Those games would be : The Witness / The Last Guardian / Inside / Abzu / Flower / Journey
I kept finding game lists for games that came out in 2017 but I wanted a more comprehensive list. I also like that we are buying this system in probably its second to last year so a slew of games should be more affordable but if not, time tested.
This is probably the most comprehensive list I could find. i like how they have it by Metascore and another list created by users (that keeps track of the metascore, too).
I feel like the user list might be the one I listen to, even though Witcher 3 is on the top of it.
I’ll be tempted to get Injustice 2 once the Game of the Year edition comes out, unless the Ninja Turtles are lame on it, then I might still pass. I’m not the biggest fighting game guy, or first person shooter nor a racing gamer.
I was tempted by Amazing Spider-Man 2, as it reminded me of Spider-Man 2, being an open world Spider-Man game. I read decent reviews, back in the day. Essentially most of them stated to play it on the PS4 and not the PS3, which was the case for most games where that was an option. Which makes perfect sense.
Night in the Woods sound cute.
We’re getting the 1 terabyte PS4 proper (or it could be a slim, for all I know) so hopefully that is enough memory to last several games.
Here are some other sites that I found with helpful lists.
At lunch, my wife told me that seven games should be enough to hold us over for some time, so I know four of those games. I’ll let you know what the other games are, once I know them.
As I do enjoy making lists (it gives me something to scratch out or strike through), here is the list of games I’m interesting in, broken down into tiers as I’m also way into using the word “tiers.” It really is the little things in life that amuses one, later in life.
Grand Theft Auto V Fallout 4 Uncharted Trilogy
Uncharted 4
Uncharted : Lost Legacy
Batman : Arkham Knight
Heavy Rain / Beyond : Two Souls Crash Bandicoot trilogy Little Big Planet 3
Lego Marvel’s Avengers
The Last of Us Remastered
F1 2017
TMNT : Mutants in Manhattan
Peggle 2 (11)
Life is Strange
Hellblade : Senua’s Sacrifice
Until Dawn (3)
The Witness
The Last Guardian
Inside
Abzu
Flower
Journey (6)
Which is 20 games, and I do enjoy a list divisible by 10, heck, even 25, which is my comic book upbringing coming through for the latter.
okay, so I counted the list and it is 23 games, so I’m not sure how I missed up counting that before. I originally had Peggle 2 on there twice but that doesn’t really help. Oh, I wasn’t counting the games I know we own, that’s how I got to 20 but 23 are listed. Gosh, the difference an hour makes when writing a post!
The second tier games are the ones I discovered after conducting my research.
The third tier is mostly games I think my wife would enjoy and are apparently very nice to see.
The TCL 43″ Classic 1080p Roku LCD TV, is the TV we are going to pair the PS4 with. The Roku TV is how we’ve been addressing it. For Black Friday, it was down to $250 but we’ve committed to paying the $280 for it, as it didn’t time out right for us. My original goal was to “surprise” my wife for it for an anniversary present, as it is the TV she picked out. We like the Roku brand (until it goes wrong, which is rare nowadays) so it does have everything we want in a television set.
I write “surprised” as anything over fifty dollars, we discuss it as one never knows. Such is the married life.
That is a narly looking Lockheed! He’s like a gargoyle. And look! Kitty with transparent legs!
That is one sassy Kitty Pryde there, too.
I’m just glad to see something that has come out this year, that includes Lockheed.
Poor Lockheed, hasn’t made a comic book appearance since Secret Wars 2015!
Captain America : Steve Rogers 15’s ResurrXion variant cover is the only place he can be found, in the past two years! Also, I would like to get this variant cover as well!
The cover is by David Marquez.
According to my old pals over at ComicBookDB, Lockheed hasn’t been seen since
Groot (2015) 6, which came out in January 2016! I’ve checked variant covers, as good as I could, and this is the only one he’s appeared in. I’m not sure about dialogue but as of comics released in August 2017, Lockheed hasn’t been mentioned either. I’ve been compiling a list from Marvel Database from July 2016, when Hastings closed, to August 2017 (I have to update it for September books). It takes some time to look at all of the comics Marvel releases on a monthly basis.
So those four items are the latest we could see, besides shirts that I’m not sure were official or are fan made, it was hard to tell from how they appeared on Amazon. I do like how Amazon has third party, including individuals, giving eBay a run for their money.
After Magik (44) got her own Chess Piece, I thought for sure Kitty would get hers, soon after. Instead, it took longer than one would suspect. They did eventually make one, 61, and I want it so much! Poor Lockheed, can’t get included in any new merchandise materials!
Magik came out in November 4, 2015, she’s a White Pawn
Kitty came out in May 25, 2016, she’s also a White Pawn
So she must have came out around the same time, I had quit searching for her.
Ever since Hastings closed, I’ve allowed myself to lose all interest in comics, outside of podcasts. I don’t even keep up with comic movie news, until they are literally coming to theaters.
All of chess discussion is making me want to listen to Murray Head’s One Night in Bangkok.
Thanks to ChessVEVO for hosting the video!
Which is odd, I was expecting it to read as MurrayHeadVEVO but I forget it is from a musical titled, Chess. A play, I would love to see, as I do enjoy the game of Chess. As I prefer my kicks, above the waistline. A line, that I adore to say, whenever I can. Except, most people don’t get the reference now and I’ve had to dial it back as they probably think I’m talking about boobs. ( o ) Y ( o )
YouTube actually has five songs from the musical!
The order to listen to them, according to Wikipedia –
Arbiter
Nobody’s Side
Pity the Child
One Night in Bangkok
I Know Him Well
So I’m going to have to listen to these, sometime soon!
This reminds me of when I discovered YouTube had a live performance of Beethoven’s Last Night
Thanks to YouTuber squintyt4e for having the playlist. I thought YouTube made it so you can link to a website of a playlist but I’m not seeing that option. My understanding is that that video should play all 37 videos.
Probably my favorite musical and by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so great!
My favorite songs, in order of the show –
What Good is this Deafness
What is Eternal
The Moment
This is Who You Are
Who is This Child
I’m not sure how I came across buying Meja’s second album, Seven Sisters, but I did. I’m sure I heard “All ‘Bout the Money” and the CD was affordable and I bought it.
This is one of those rare albums where you can play the first track, Lay Me Down, and play it through to the end with, Do The Angels Have a Home. Which I must have done for a while.
Unfortunately, YouTube is letting me down with no videos of the entire album available – which may be the right thing to do, I’m not sure what the rules are on that.
I did find a playlist that starts with All ‘Bout the Money
Which is pretty great, but it leaves out both
Daughter of Mornin (the song that I often think about with this album)
Thanks to YouTuber yuri20 for hosting this video.
Lullaby Song
Thanks to YouTuber rrn3000 for hosting this video!
Such a great album!
I clicked on MejaVEVO and learn that she did release official videos for this album, so here are the ones that her channel are hosting –
Lay Me Down
All ‘Bout the Money
Intimacy
Pop & Television
Not sure why these are not part of the playlist above but here they are for completion sake
I’m so out of touch that I didn’t realize I was supposed to be expecting the first trailer for The New Mutants film, out in April 2018.
Thanks to 20th Century FOX for hosting their own video.
I saw this was an option to view yesterday but didn’t have the time to watch it, where I was at. So I looked up any information about the trailer, before hand, so I would know what to look for.
I found Kevin Melrose’s article on the Comic Book Resources.
Nothing ground breaking that you couldn’t get from watching it yourself. Besides knowing how the actors and where you may have recognized them from, which is pretty handy.
I hadn’t realized Charlie Heaton was cast as Cannonball, off of his successful appearance in Stranger Things.
What got me all types of excited was Chris Brown’s comment on that article about young Illyana’s plush friend.
Could that be Lockheed!?! At the very least, enough of a representation so if they do hint some sort of winter time mindscape, that the plush animal can become “real” and be a cat sized flying dragon named, Lockheed.
We watched the trailer and I had to keep rewinding it on Youtube as I kept missing the exact second so that my wife could see the plush friend.
It is a microsecond within the 1:40 second mark. I saw the “There is Something” and “New” so many times!
This morning, while drinking my V8, like an adult, I was thinking about how exciting it would be to finally getting Lockheed on screen. Magik and Lockheed, finally being represented in film, is going to be amazing!
April 13, 2018, I’m getting pretty pump!
What helps is that we’re talking about taking Walker Dennis to movies now. Our plan is to see Disney’s Coco and see how that goes. The Alex Foundation partners with Cinemark 8 to have these special Sensory Friendly screenings and we feel those would be a great way to slowly introduce him to the movie going experience.
Apparently, this is supposed to kick off an entire trilogy of horror films. Which I imagine the next one, that is supposed to have Warlock and Karma in it, will take place in Legion’s mind, another horror element. Be awesome if they could get Dan Stevens to be in that film, maybe commit a season to setting up that film. Two franchises, who wouldn’t want that!?! They’ll want to include Rachel Heller too, I know I want that.
Josh Boon, who directs the film, and co-wrote it with Knate Lee, is influenced by the Bill Sienkiewicz’s run on New Mutants, written (of course) by Chris Claremeont. The article sites the run as being from 18 – 31, and 35 – 38.
What would the third film be? They can’t go to Asgard, unless they can!?! FOX should give Disney the Fantastic Four rights so FOX can borrow Asgard, then the three main New Mutants storylines could be properly represented.
No, they won’t go to Asgard, they will probably go to Limbo, the fourth storyline the New Mutants do. “Crazy teen hi-jinks” would probably be the fifth one, where they fight the teen rival team of the Hellions.
Legion is supposed to come back in February, I have to renew our subscription to FX, by then.
2018 is going to be a big X-Year!
February – Legion Season 2
April – New Mutants
June – Deadpool 2
November – Dark Phoenix
Plus, Gifted second half of the season, should be airing still. We’re caught up on all three episodes and it is pretty good. I keep thinking about how Natalie Alyn Lind was Dana on The Goldbergs, Adam’s first girlfriend. Apparently, she was on Gotham too. A show that I think about catching up on. But who has the time for all of these shows? I’ve been impress that we’re keeping up as good as we are. Waking up early to get The Voice and Dancing with the Stars out of the way, has really helped.
Gifted is only ten episodes, so it may be done by December. We’re actually at the ten weeks before the end of the year mark, and those are going to go fast, so yeah, all the episodes should have aired by the end of the year, unless they delay a few to get into January. Though they only have to air seven more, so that would give them time to air all of them before Christmas, when television watching goes down. Well, besides the highly anticipated Doctor Who Christmas episode and various other Christmas themed episodes, specials and movies.
Let’s hope that Marvel can get behind this gravy train and release some actual product! I’ll straight by two Lockheed plush animals, just give me the opportunity already!
Heck, they put Lockheed on anything, I’m buying that nonsense. Then, Dani can bring that version of him outside of Illyana’s head and boom! Lockheed is in existence in the film proper. So easy to write!
Then, of course, we have to get Lockheed and Ellen Page’s Kitty Pryde together and have the most fun film of all time! Get Anya Taylor-Joy (who looks great as Magik) for a buddy movie for the ages!
I Googled “Anya Taylor Joy Ellen Page Lockheed” and found this website –
Alex Wong wrote an article for Inverse, talking about the connection too.
I was hoping to see some fun fan art that put those actresses together. Did you know that Taylor-Joy is 21 and Page is 30? I didn’t until I looked it up. Ellen Page still looks super young so they can still buddy it up in that film. It’ll be awesome, do it FOX! Do it!
I’ve also started listening to The Fighter and the Kid, mostly on YouTube, as Freddie Prinze Jr. has been on two episodes.
Thanks to UFC on FOX for hosting this video.
I’ve watched a few now but I’m hooked and I’m not even into MMA but Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen make it seem like something I could get into and I really enjoy their dynamic.
Bryan Callen is an actor I’ve always liked when I see him in something. I had forgotten he was on How I Met Your Mother as Barney’s boss. Well, he was Marshall and Ted’s boss too, now that I think of it. He’s on the Goldbergs, too. He was really funny in Old School as well, which is true for everything he’s in. I don’t remember him from the first two Hangover films. I should check out his nine episodes of Seventh Heaven, any excuse to watch Beverley Mitchell, I say. I really need to watch that new show of hers, along with Christine Lakin and Jodi Sweetin. It is called Hollywood Darlings on the Pop channel, a channel I’ve never heard of until now. I do like all three of those ladies.
I thought I could recommend with the episode numbers but it seems like YouTube (or them, most likely) were not keeping track of it that way, from the very beginning.
Thanks to the Fighter and the Kid for hosting their own videos.
Josh Wolf joined Freddie Prinze Jr. for episode 273.
I saw the Kevin Smith episode, episode 248. This made me want to dive back into Smodcast and Tell ‘Em Steve Dave, but that would be years and years of episodes and I can’t do that. I do miss hearing Scott Mosier’s tales though. He was on FEAB (Four Eyes and Beard) with Matt Mira, another great podcast. They just had so many that I fell way behind. Sort of like what is happening with me and Fighter and the Kid.
That’s when I thought I’ll look up their other celebrity appearances but I didn’t really recognize anyone else who I really wanted to see, besides the list at the bottom of this post.
Hosted by UFC on FOX, thanks!
Except for Whitney Cummings, episode 126.
I’m not sure what happened with FOX, Bryan hinted about something in episode 274 but their production value went way up once they took ownership of the show. I guess it wouldn’t be that hard to figure out which episode the switch is made.
From there, I’ve seen episodes 274 and 275. 276 just went up (they are on episode 297 – so I’m crazy behind), and I’m trying to learn their schedule. 288 is the Bill Goldberg episode, so that’s the last full episode I saw. I want to watch 290 with Taran Killam. So I’m not as crazy behind as I thought I was.
These are two hour episodes, so it takes some time to watch them. Mostly, I watch them at night as I try to unwind and go to sleep. I usually do one hour one night and finish it the next. Or I just watched the whole episode and regret doing so when I wake up, wishing I had another hour of sleep. But that’s on me.
Watching these back to back like I have, Bryan has these facial mannerisms that I feel like I’ve incorporated, or maybe I feel like I’m about to incorporate and I have to pull back.
Schaub is pretty controversial, I guess. My main take away was his record, 10-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC, something his Wikipedia page isn’t great with. Or I didn’t understand it.
So this is the video wherein Schaub says his goodbye to UFC –
UFC on FOX
So the very first episode on their channel is 161
The Fighter and the Kid
Which makes me think that I probably shouldn’t go deep on this show either, just stick to the rivers and the lakes that I’m use to.
but now I’m just searching “fighter and the kid 161” “162” and still seeing that UFC on FOX is hosting the videos. Maybe they had an agreement to co-host a few of them?
Okay, so 171 is the final one on UFC on FOX
and 172 is the first one only on The Figther and the Kid
I’ll make a point of watching these episodes, in the proper order and see if I can get some answers that way. (Or probably not, as this became a daunting task.)
As long as Bryan is on the episode, I’ll watch these as I see there are times when one is not present. I like Brendan but Bryan is who I’m drawn to more, at this moment. Brendan also has his own show and I feel like that has to concentrate more on the fights that I’m not watching so I’m passing on that right now. Big Brown Break Down, is a great title for a show. I do like that Brendan has joined Bryan in stand-up and they have taken their show on the road, just like what happened with Smodcast.
Looking at the thumbnails of the videos on The Fighter and the Kid page, they clearly get production values at some point. I couldn’t tell when that happen, I’ll probably have to go slower in my search and see when it occurs.
Looks like 211 is the earliest with the current set
210 has an older set, at least that’s how it looks like. They put a curtain up for a backdrop.
The comment section leads me to believe that people really like Bryan over Brendan, but I don’t see where that is coming from. Not yet, anyways. I get that I like Bryan more, but I’m more familiar with him. The comments read like they rather just have a podcast that doesn’t involve Brendan.
208 has Will Sasso, from Bryan’s MadTV days. The first of the curtain era.
207 has a logo backdrop. Not sure how else to describe that background. It is a well lit room, whereas I see some that are filmed in a very dark room, like from their UFC days. This episode has David Koechner AND Josh Wolf filling in for Bryan. I thought I recognized Josh Wolf in a couple thumbnails, I have to go back and see.
He is in two non-numbered episodes!
August 28, 2015
November 19, 2015
I wish they had committed to the episode numbers, for those two Josh Wolf appearances.
I can’t tell if it is just a different camera angle and I’m not really in a place to fully gauge what is happening. Mostly, I’m just looking for a good sampling of the old shows to get a better feel on the hosts.
Episodes 161 through to 207, appear to be the same room, but with the camera angle moving slower to camera left, over time.
. . .
I found these interesting guest hosts. UFC on FOX is so cluttered with all of their UFC related videos, that I can’t even begin to start going down that list. Shame they didn’t just always have a Fighter and the Kid page, within the UFC channel. If anyone has any episode referrals, I am clearly making a list and can add to it.
Ed O’Neill, Episode 168. FPJr told a story about how O’Neill use to box and at the gym, would straight knock some kids out who thought he was nothing more than an old man!
So I had a lot more videos to post but after watching half of the Ed O’Neill interview, I’ve decided to not go backward in time. I’ve also decided to never watch an episode that doesn’t have Bryan in it, unless Josh Wolf is the guest host (or someone else that I really enjoy). Brendan is nice enough but I’ve found out that I watch for Bryan and their dynamic.
I will say that after the Bill Goldberg episode, I did want to watch the Steve Austin episode but that was an episode of Big Brown Breakdown and I was going to earn the Steve Austin section but I’ve only gotten to the 14:28 mark, and that was weeks ago.
I’ll eventually just skip ahead to the Steve Austin section but I’ve fallen way behind on this series.
Here is the list of guest stars that I had originally found interesting enough to provide the embedded videos but now I’m just going to provide the episode number.
Michael Rapaport (176 and 232)
Dominic Monaghan (179)
Tom Papa (186)
Dr. Drew (190)
Bob Saget (191)
John McGinley (203)
Rob Corddry (213)
Pete Holmes (216)
Chris D’Elia (225 and 265)
Jeremy Pevin (234)
Rapaport and De’Elia are friends of the show so they make several appearances.
. . .
Bryan Callen does have his own podcast, Mixed Mental Arts, with co-host, Hunter Maats
I guess I’m really a fan of Podbay FM, as I use that site for both Prinze and the Wolf and Living Between Wednesdays. They were hosting the official How I Met Your Mother podcast but it stopped when the show did and now those episodes are no longer available. I was so excited when I stumbled upon that and thought I had a new podcast to listen too but then the links were dead.
One of these days, I’ll get back into it. I’ve been tempted to just download the episodes onto my phone but knowing that there is a visual representation of the podcast, I don’t feel like I could go strictly audio with them. Especially as they have a news segment and they show images on the screen that Chen shows them. But I would listen to more episodes, if I had them on my phone.
If you allow your children to be on YouTube, you probably have heard of Blippi.
So the other day, I wanted to learn about who Walker Dennis’ current obsession is. By current, I mean, like a six month love affair. Blippi essentially replaced Bounce Patrol in our house.
Thanks to these two wonderful articles, I know a bunch more about the man and the character.
I went from being slightly annoyed at hearing the same music and seeing the same visuals (over and over, again) to having a new appreciation for him, now that I know he’s really Stevin John, a veteran US Air Force serviceman. Good for him for being inspired to make better entertainment for his nephew and now is making crazy money and having world wide recognition, is super impressive.
We got our son this sweet pair of headphones, so I rarely hear the music but it isn’t really that bad. It was more of an issue of hearing the same 30 seconds of something, without context, and on repeat.
Garbage Trucks for Children with Blippi, is his most popular video.
The ones Walker Dennis has watched the most, is the videos where Blippi goes on field trips.
Like, to the Ranch
Or, to the Trampoline Park (his current favorite video)
Or, learning about the letter B with Handles Franklin, a Globetrotter.
I’m pretty sure the very first video I noticed him watching, and me learning the lyrics, was to the Excavator Song.
Thanks to Blippi for hosting his own videos.
I’m sure my son will eventually move on to another YouTube personality, eventually, but he’s really into Blippi right now. Even when he was into his car crash videos (a very short phrase, but we still have to crash our grocery cart into things, from time to time) he was still watching Blippi.
There are other videos my son watches, on a regular basis, but I haven’t felt compelled to figure out what their deals are, yet.
The theme of the speech was “Can a Conversation Save a Life.” It is all about how doctors and nurses should make sure there is a real exchange of thoughts when discussing one’s medical treatment.
People were crying in the conference room. At one point, I wanted to just get on a plane and go hug my own son and just hope he never has anything this tragic happen to him. Luckily, his doctor, Dr. Danielson, is amazing and super forthcoming and tells us additional information that we hadn’t even thought to ask yet. She’s pretty great.
Because of what happen to Michael, Patricia worked extremely hard and got the Michael Skolnik Medical Transparency Act passed.

I used this link to get that copy, as the website wouldn’t work as a link here.
She was even able to get it amended twice more, once to include nurses and a second time to strengthen the act on patients benefit.
That’s the thing about this case is that it really puts you in her place. If a doctor, that a good friend recommended to me, told me that my son had 48 hours to live and really needed an operation, what would I do? Is 48 hours enough time to even get a second opinion? Most doctors have extremely filled schedules and this doctor made a special appointment to see her son. It is in a field that I have no real reference point for. One would hope that your doctor well tell you everything but it is hard to know what to ask. She had this great line about how she didn’t even not know what she knew to even ask about. When it comes to our health, especially after a bad diagnosis, it is hard to think of questions while your mind is swirling around about the future.
Patricia highly recommends bringing someone with you to all of your doctor appointments, so that they can ask questions on your behalf, or to remind you of your own questions that you may forget at the end of the session.
It was nice that this session was at midday Thursday, as it was a nice ice breaker for the rest of the conference as everyone had a reaction to the subject material.
The Act is only for Colorado but various states have passed similar acts.
It really was a very powerful presentation and I’m still thinking about it, nearly two weeks later.
I keep finding myself thinking about the upcoming Fall Television season.
I’m using the above Wikipedia page to keep track of upcoming shows that we are interested in, if you want to follow along.
Sunday
I doubt I’ll be watching CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd but it has Monica Potter of Parenthood and Head Over Heels fame, I’m glad she got another series not too long after Parenthood ended.
I am tempted to give FOX’s Ghosted a chance as I’ll watch anything that has Adam Scott in it and Craig Robinson is always funny, so the two of them should work wonders together. I doubt it makes it a full season, but I’ll give the show a couple episodes. I’ll probably end up watching it by myself.
Looking ahead at a few series, I’m glad that America is finally coming around to the British way of doing television, with ten or 13 episodes making up one season. Not every series needs 22 episodes, and even those series, probably could do without one or two episodes.
I’m definitely going to follow Star Trek : Discovery onto CBS All Access. 15 episodes sounds like it will be pretty stellar. Pun intended!
Count me in with FOX’s The Orville, at least the first episode. I imagine how involved Seth MacFarlane is with this, this being his show, it should be super watchable. Adrianne Palicki probably isn’t coming back to Agents of SHIELD, any time soon. Not like we are watching that show anymore, with my wife’s ban on Joss Whedon continuing. Plus, we are so far behind on shows that, even when that ban lifts, Palicki might be back on that show or in today’s modern television era, her contract might have availability for that show.
Monday
We’ll be watching ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, expect a post regarding that cast once that is known. Which should be soon, I imagine as the season is set to start in the middle of September.
We’ll be skipping The Good Doctor, good that kid from Bates Motel got a new gig so quickly. West Wing’s Richard Schiff is part of that show, which is nice.
Bobby Moynihan’s comedy version of This Is Us, CBS’s Me, Myself & I is a show I’ll be passing on. He left SNL for this (or it timed out that way) so I hope it works for him.
My wife is still watching Scorpion, it does seem like a good show, the few segments I’ve seen of it.
We’re still on for CW’s Supergirl. We’ll probably watch Arrow and Legends on Netflix, unless we can squeeze those shows in (and if we can finish Arrow in time).
Entertainment Weekly states that there will be a proper four part crossover in November, so no word on any secret two-parters like Flash and Supergirl last season.
I’ll be watching FOX’s The Gifted, the new X-Men series. Hopefully it is good. I’ll be watching it just for Amy Acker, if for nothing else.
We’ll also be watching The Voice, now with Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. Cyrus has proven herself on the show but the clips seem to be turning Hudson into someone that makes me weary of her inclusion. I’ll be missing Alicia Keys but she did win a season, so she has to go. That’s the rule. I see on the Wikipedia page that Kelly Clarkson will be a coach, replacing the Gwen Stefani / Cyrus coach position.
Dancing and The Voice, in the Fall, is what puts us so far behind on our television watching. At least Dancing is once a week (I hope they never go back to two nights) and it is good pretty much from the start. I wonder how many Blind episodes of The Voice will there be.
I deifnitely have no interest in Young Sheldon, on CBS, and I can’t imagine that show lasting a full season. It is going to be this odd little footnote into the series.
Tuesday
We’ll be watching ABC’s Black-ish, they added another baby, so I wonder how many more seasons will there be. Tracee Ellis Ross keeps winning awards, and the only one to do so, so expect those wins to earn another season for the show. Will this be Yara Shahidi’s last season? I know Zoey is supposed to be “off to college” but she’ll probably still pop up from time to time.
I like the idea of ABC’s The Mayor, but I’ll hold out an opinion until I see a trailer for it.
I do like Jason Ritter, but I’m not sure we’ll watch ABC’s Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. Maybe if it gets high praise reviews, we’ll give it a shot.
Still be watching CW’s The Flash and keeping an eye out for Legends of Tomorrow in November.
We’ll be watching FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
We’ll be sticking with The Voice on NBC and of course, This is Us. We really love that show. The short season means no filler too, which is outstanding. Once Upon a Time and Revenge as really killed my buzz for 23 episode series. Be it comedy or drama though my patience with comedy seems to be greater.
NBC’s Law & Order True Crime is tackling the Menendez Murders (for some reason), my wife got caught up in the original case, so we’ll probably give this eight episode series a look. Though, whenever I think of this show, I always think of that incredible skit from SNL.
First Got Horny 2U
Thanks to Saturday Night Live for hosting that video!
So good!
That show has Anthony Edwards, Sam Jaeger and Healther Graham in it, so that’s cool.
Wednesday
We’re still in for ABC’s The Goldbergs. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this show’s return as I’m all about Bryan Callen now and he did an interview with Bill Goldberg with Fighter and the Kid, where they confirm that Goldberg is playing Callen’s Coach Mellor’s brother. That should be super fun.
Thanks to The Fighter and the Kid for hosting their own videos.
It is a pretty good episode.
I’m still working on my Fighter and the Kid post, the way I have it now, it has like 30 videos in it and I really don’t think all of those are necessary, so I’m still tweaking it.
How are they going to work Hayley Orrantia’s Erica into the upcoming season? Or does she have one more high school year left? She’s going to Georgia for college so she should only appear for the holiday episodes and a phone call now and again, right? I’m going to miss her on the show.
We’re still watching Modern Family, still not enough Alex for my taste. That show has to be ending soon too, right? Their lack of award nominations tells me that the industry is moving on and the writers seem to be right behind them too.
My wife moved ahead with Designated Survivor so she’ll probably keep with that show.
Speaking of which, CBS’s Survivor’s theme is Heroes v Healers v Hustlers. We’ll be watching it, I like the competition elements but I do lose interest in the parts surrounding the comps. Tribal is still good, but it takes me longer and longer to learn people’s names, with each new season.
I’m all in with CW’s Riverdale, Luke Perry is going to survive the gun shot, right? Right!?! Probably the only season finale that I’m still thinking about. Flash was okay but it is clearly going to resolve itself before minute the fifth minute.
My wife will be watching FOX’s Empire. I’m not sure if she watches Star, it sounds like she does but I don’t know.
Thursday
My wife is still watching ABC’s Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder. I know it is Scandal’s final season.
We still really enjoy CBS’s Life in Pieces, we do miss that show when it is Thursday and we want to watch the episode but we have to wait until Friday to do so.
We’re catching up with CW’s Arrow but not sure if we’ll be watching it live.
There are times when I wouldn’t mind catching up with FOX’s Gotham. Orville being on Thursday is a nice sign of confidence. The Sunday timeslot must have been a premiere night.
I’ve also been tempted to get caught up with NBC’s Superstore. I’m not sure if I’m watching Will & Grace, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the show, towards the end, but I do like these reunion series that we’re getting now.
Friday
ABC’s Once Upon a Time is being “treated” to a time jump, so don’t expect that show to get renewed. I’m not sure if we’re even attempting Inhumans, it doesn’t look like any Whedon is involved with this show so maybe we’ll give the first episode a look. I do like it only being eight episodes.
We still watch CBS’s Blue Bloods, I like the show and I’m glad it continues. It is one of those rare shows where they can just keep releasing season after season, like an old school procedural. Though Frank always seems like he’s ready to retire, which would probably be the last season. I wonder if they are going to do more with Erin and Jamie this season, outside of the two spotlight episodes that they have to get.
I really want to watch Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on the CW, but it is so hard to see an episode on Netflix.
. . .
I guess that’s the 2017 element of the 2017 – 2018 Television Schedule.
I still see series listed By Network, that are not included in the above chart.
ABC has a Dancing with the Stars Junior competition that I’m sure my wife is going to love.
The CW is having Black Lightning, which is NOT part of the Arrow-verse so I’ll probably be passing on that until it is considered part of the Arrow-verse. Seems pretty dumb to not be included in the fun but Greg Berlanti said that they can jump in at any time, which is really nice of him. I completely understand wanting to stand on their own feet but it just feels like a shame to not be included, especially being on The CW. Might as well be on FOX with Gotham.
FOX has New Girl that I didn’t see above, which is also on its final season. They are bringing 9-1-1 back, now with, Angela Bassett. FOX also has The Resident that Emily VanCamp is in, she was the only reason to keep watching Revenge and after rewatching Civil War, I could be up for watching her new series. She looks to be the main nurse on that series but fourth listed on the Wikipedia page. Though I don’t recognize the first two names, I do know Bruce Greenwood. I looked them up, the top guy is Logan from Gilmore Girls and the other was in the fourth season of Agents of SHIELD. I still don’t recognize him.
NBC, the network that spurred this post, has The Awesome Show, with Chris Hardwick. Which reads, to me, like his Wall renewal contract stated he get a show that is more in line with his actual interests. It’ll be six episodes, like his BBC show was. But without the pop culture, it looks like.
I’m not tempted by The Brave show, at all, though it is getting all the Hulu advertising. Odd for a show that doesn’t have a September or October start date. Oh, I missed it above, it is on Monday nights, after The Voice.
I wonder if my wife will watch Ellen’s Game of Games.
NPH is hosting Genius Junior, a kid quiz show, in prime time!
They also have Good Girls with Christina Hendricks (maybe on a show I’ll actually watch) and Mae Whitman! Hey, Matthew Lillard is on it too! Retta of Parks and Recreation fame is the third lady of the series.
Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman are going to host a reality show, Handmade Project, which might be interesting.
Reverie is a show with Person of Interest’s Sarah Shahi as well as Dennis Haysbert, so that could be good too.
And, finally, due to alphabetical order, NBC’s Rise! The show that I’m super eager for! It stars HIMYM’s Josh Radnor as the teacher that inspires a city, via the high school drama department. It also features Moana’s Auli’i Cravalho as well. I’m surprised Disney didn’t throw a series at her but I’m glad to have her involved in this show. Still no release date. Here is an interview with Josh Radnor, regarding the show –
Thanks to Josh Radnor Videos for hosting the above video.
It is only a minute long but from the upfronts, it sounds like the trailer was well received.
Shannon Purser of Riverdale and Stranger Things (she’s Barb) will have a recurring role in it, which seems awkward. Is she only in six of the ten episodes?
Marley Shelton will be playing Radnor’s wife on the show. I know her as being the object of affection from Trojan War, though she had no chance against Jennifer Love Hewitt. She’s in Pleasantville and Never Been Kissed but I don’t recognize her from those films. I still need to watch Sugar and Spice as it has James Marsden in it. I’ve seen clips of Bubble Boy, so I know she’s The Girl in that film. She’s The Customer in Sin City, whatever that means. From in W, a horrible film. The deputy in Scream 4, which might be familiar. Shelton has these great eyes, which do leave an impression, which helps me remember her. So I’m as familiar with her as probably a small margin of people but she should be good in the role.
This all reminds me that I still need to watch Mercy Street. I started the first episode, months ago, and didn’t even get to the Josh Radnor scene! I did like seeing Mary Elizabeth Winstead, again, I don’t see nearly enough of her work.
. . .
Going down the Renewals and Cancellations section.
ABC’s The Middle is ending, a show I’ve seen like three minutes of. Scandal is ending.
CW’s Originals is ending, my wife likes that show too.
New Girl is ending and probably about time for it too.
I thought there would be more shows to confirm.
. . .
So that’s the list of what we’re mostly watching and what a few things I know I’m already not tempted by.
