Michelle Pfeiffer Referenced Songs

Posted by John Klein III on July 18, 2015

The always amazing, Michelle Pfeiffer, is referenced in two songs – though she ought to be in more!

Vance Joy’s Riptide

Thanks to LiberationMusicAus for hosting the video!

I really like how this song is essentially just all of the lyrics, brought to live.

“I swear she’s destined for the screen, Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you’ve ever seen”

The other song is :

Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk

Thanks to MarkRonsonVEVO for hosting this video!

I’m not a huge Bruno Mars fan, the radio overplays him.  I was thinking about how he was due for another single but now that he has a shared one, with Mark Ronson, I’m already over this song.  But I do like hearing Michelle Pfeiffer’s name being sung.

“That ice cold, Michelle Pfeiffer, That white gold”

I mean, seriously, after her star making performance in Grease 2 and the way she performed Cool Rider, she deserves to be immortalized in song.

Thanks to YouTuber videomolly for hosting this video!

Marvel October 2015 Solicitations

Posted by John Klein III on July 17, 2015

http://www.newsarama.com/25221-marvel-comics-october-2015-solicitations.html

I’m probably going to cover more titles, than I usually do as Marvel is starting their big relaunch of new number ones. Spoilers, I’m still not getting that many of them, but a few more than I had thought.

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1 & 2
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (w) • DAVID MARQUEZ (a)
Exploding out of the pages of SECRET WARS, one of the most popular super heroes in the world gets a gigantic new series. From the creators that brought you ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN comes new armor, new supporting cast, new villains and a new purpose that is going to tear itself across the entire Marvel Universe and beyond. With a shocker of a last page that will have everyone talking and the return of one of Tony’s biggest nemeses, you will not want to miss this!! Also, who are Tony’s biological parents? The quest begins here!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T+ …$3.99 (each)

I’m really surprised that they lead with Iron Man 1 & 2 instead of Secret Wars 8, but I can see where Marvel (or Newsarama – but I imagine Newsarama just copies and pastes the information) is in an awkward spot of wanting to promote the ending of their big event and the relaunch of well over 50 titles. Just goes to show how big of a deal Bendis on Iron Man is going to be. Which I’m still passing on.

 SECRET WARS #8 (OF 8)
JONATHAN HICKMAN (w) • ESAD RIBIC (a)
Cover by ALEX ROSS
GENESIS!
56 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99
*CHECK FUTURE MARVEL MAILERS FOR SECRET WARS INFINITY STONES PROMO ITEM ORDERING DETAILS.

I wouldn’t mind an Infinity Stone promo item but since Hastings still has like 60 Battleworld Maps, I can see that store not getting additional items. They never did get the free Marvel Preview book.

SIEGE #4
KIERON GILLEN (w)
FILIPE ANDRADE (a)
Cover by W. SCOTT FORBES
THE LAST STAND OF THE SHIELD!
• Well, THAT certainly doesn’t sound ominous…
• Hey look, THANOS is here! That’s always a good sign! Just kidding, of course, that’s terrible news and everything is darkness.
• The biggest battle conceivable. Heroes rise. Legends fall. No one lives forever. THIS IS THE SHIELD!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

I just read that Siege 1 has a reference to Illyana, so I’m hoping that she shows up a couple times in this series.

INFINITY GAUNTLET #5
GERRY DUGGAN & DUSTIN WEAVER (W)
DUSTIN WEAVER (a/C)
• The Infinity Stones are assembled and all of Battleworld is in danger.
• Can the Nova family possibly out-flank Thanos?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

This has to spell into Secret Wars 8, right? Since Thanos was in the Ultimate Liferaft, I can only imagine there isn’t more than one Thanos, but I’m probably not right about that.

AGE OF APOCALYPSE #5
FABIAN NICIEZA (w) • IBAN COELLO (a)
Cover by GERARDO SANDOVAL
• The philosophy of Apocalypse has always been “let the fittest survive,” but by its ultimate extension, that would only leave one person standing! As mutants fall from the shocking release of a devastating plague, who will live and who will die? And if Apocalypse falls, who will rule in his place…?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

Shadowcat wasn’t in the first issue so who knows if I’m getting any of these.

GROOT #5
JEFF LOVENESS (w)
BRIAN KESINGER (a)
Cover by DECLAN SHALVEY
• You didn’t think we were going to tell the story of one of Groot’s adventures without bringing BABY GROOT into the fray, did you?
• With his goal of reuniting with his best friend (and interpreter) Rocket Raccoon within reach, Groot’s only got a ship full of mercenaries to contend with. Should be a piece of cake, right?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Issue two was pretty nice, might have to keep reading this in the store.

DEADPOOL VS. THANOS #3 & 4 (of 4)
TIM SEELEY (w) • ELMO BONDOC (a)
Cover by TRADD MOORE
ISSUE #3 & 4 VARIANT COVER BY RON LIM
• Let me check the Marvel Wiki. Hang on…
• OK…Deadpool is a guy with guns and swords…
• Thanos is an Eternal with strength, endurance, agility, and nearly invulnerable skin, who can shoot cosmic energy from his eyes and hands.
• Sounds like a fair fight!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

That’s a fun write up. The whole Thanos’ jealousy of Deaths’ attraction to Deadpool, is a subplot that I’m glad people are not forgetting.

ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT MARVEL POINT ONE #1
AL EWING, CHARLES SOULE, SKOTTIE YOUNG, GERRY CONWAY, MARC GUGGENHEIM (W)
FELIPE ANDRADE, RON GARNEY, PACO MEDINA, GERMAN PERALTA, MIKE PERKINS, STEFANO CASELLI (A)
Cover by MIKE DEL MUNDO
In the aftermath of SECRET WARS, it’s an All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, and this is your one-stop entry point to the changes and mysteries that have developed during the eight months that have passed! Featuring new stories of DAREDEVIL, CARNAGE, CLASSFIED, CLASSIFIED, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS!
56 PGS./ One-Shot/Rated T+ …$5.99

I am super curious about the events that take place during the eight month jump from Secret Wars 2015 8 and the new number ones. I figured there would be a big name creative team doing that official answer but I’ll order this and see what is up.

AVENGERS #0
MARK WAID, JAMES ROBINSON, G. WILLOW WILSON, AL EWING, GERRY DUGGAN (W)
MAHMUD ASRAR, LEONARD KIRK, GERARDO SANDOVAL, KENNETH ROCAFORT,
RYAN STEGMAN, VICTOR IBANEZ (A)
Cover by KENNETH ROCAFORT
The kickoff to the All-New AVENGERS line begins here, with new stories of the ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS, SQUADRON SUPREME, A-FORCE, NEW AVENGERS, ULTIMATES and UNCANNY AVENGERS! Someone is carefully studying the movements of the Avengers and those in their orbit—but do they mean to harm, or help? Find out the first clues in this special launch issue!
56 PGS./Rated T+ …$5.99

I like the idea of having the Avengers family of titles being in sync with each other. I’m surprise that Squadron Supreme is under that title. Ultimates, seems like an odd name to attach to that title (get to that later) as that will probably be the lowest selling series to carry that name. I have issues with, New Avengers, as well.  Actually, Ultimates, doesn’t come out until November, but it is just Mighty Avengers rebranded.  Like the different title is going to fool anybody.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 & 2
DAN SLOTT (w) • GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI (a)
THE WORLD’S GREATEST SUPER HERO!
Spider-Man has gone global! Parker Industries is more successful than ever, with offices in New York, Shanghai, London and San Francisco and Peter Parker is racking up the frequent flyer miles with his “bodyguard” Spider-Man in tow, of course. But success breeds enemies and a reinvigorated Zodiac have also widened their scope to threaten the whole world. Join Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli as they take Spider-Man to the next level! This huge first issue also includes stories featuring Silk, Spidey 2099, Spider-Woman and much more!
ISSUE #1 – 72 PGS./Rated T…$5.99
Issue #2 – 32 PGS/RATED T…$3.99

So people keep complaining that they are Tony Starking Peter Parker but I’m curious how this unfolds as Superior Spider-Man was awesome. But I’m also not buying this, so what do I know.

 ANGELA: QUEEN OF HEL #1
MARGUERITE BENNETT (w)
KIM JACINTO and STEPHANIE HANS (a)
COVER BY JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
HEL HATH A NEW FURY.
Stolen from ASGARD, exiled from HEVEN, and robbed of SERA, her greatest companion – ANGELA plunges into the depths of blackest HEL to save her friend…and once there, the lost princess of Asgard will carve out a realm of her very own. All hail ANGELA, THE NEW QUEEN OF HEL!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

This looks to be a tad more serious than Angela’s last series – prior to Secret Wars 2015. Those write ups were fun. I’ll be passing on this series.

BLADE #1
TIM SEELEY (W) • Logan Faerber (a)
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Good for Blade for having a daughter, but it takes more than that to get me to buy a Blade series.

THE ASTONISHING ANT-MAN #1
Nick Spencer (w) • Ramon Rosanas (a)
Scott Lang was a down-on-his-luck, divorced ex-con — until he stole renowned scientist and super hero Hank Pym’s size-altering technology in the hopes of saving his daughter’s life. Through that act of doing wrong for the right reasons, Scott inadvertently learned how to be a hero himself. With Pym’s blessing and his daughter Cassie at his side, he became… The Astonishing Ant-Man! But when a curveball upends Scott’s life, will he continue to be a hero, or will he return to his former life of crime?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Nice that Marvel is still promoting Ant-Man, even after the film’s release. I suppose they have to get new trades out there when the BluRay comes out.

 CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1
AL EWING (w)
PACO MEDINA (a/C)
Welcome to the BATTLEREALM–a broken section of space-time where cosmic beings gamble for the ultimate power while their unwilling pawns fight for their lives and a chance to return back to Earth. Who will survive… THE CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS?
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

This looks like it has a fun open door policy to allowing a slew of characters to appear. I’ll have to add it to make sure I don’t miss anyone.

DOCTOR STRANGE #1
JASON AARON (w)
CHRIS BACHALO (a/C)

Who do you call when things are coming out of your dreams and trying to kill you? Or when your daughter is cursing in Latin and walking like a spider? Or when your dog keeps screaming at you to strangle your neighbors? Doctor Strange, of course. He’s the only person standing between us and the forces of darkness, but has he been paying his tab? Every act of magic has a cost and Jason Aaron (THOR, ORIGINAL SIN) and Chris Bachalo (UNCANNY X-MEN) are going to put Stephen Strange through hell to even the scales.
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

Nice that Doctor Strange is getting a new ongoing, and it is a great creative team but I’ll be passing.

Here’s hoping they survive the experience!
Issue #1 – 40 PGS./RATED T+…$4.99
Issue #2 – 32 PGS./RATED T+…$3.99

I’m so jazzed about this new series! Extraordinary X-Men promises to be the flagship title and Magik being on the main team, is awesome! I wonder what the cosplay variants are going to be like? One character dressing as another character?

THE RACCOON’S IN CHARGE!
Peter Quill has abandoned the Guardians and his role as Star-Lord to be Emperor of the Spartax. Rocket didn’t wait a single minute to take the reins and become team leader of Drax, Venom, Groot, Kitty Pryde (A.K.A. Star-Lady ?!?!) and new Guardian BEN GRIMM, the ever-loving THING! 32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

We got confirmation that Star-Lady is Kitty Pryde! So awesome that Bendis is keeping her under his pen. I wish the name was more like Star-Kat or something. ShadowLass is taken by DC’s Phantom Girl but that would have worked too. I guess whenenver Guardians show up now, in a solict, I have to keep track of that now. I wonder if Marvel is going to quietly promote that this title has two Jews on the team (Kitty Pryde and Thing) which I believe is a record number. It is, at least, noteworthy for having Marvel’s two biggest characters of that religion, on the same time. I’m pretty excited about reading Thing on a monthly basis. Plus, Thing is pants! I’m always a fan of that. I’m also happy the action figure variants are sticking around. I imagine that Quill will still appear in the series, from time to time but as long as Kitty is on the main team, we really don’t have to visit him. I’m really hoping with how Lockheed has been in three series, during Secret Wars 2015, that someone remembers to bring him along in a new series. He would be perfect on this time and make him an official member too! Do it!

WHAT IF? INFINITY – THANOS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • MIKE HENDERSON (a)
Cover by TOM WHALEN
Variant Cover by KRIS ANKA
What if Thanos joined the Avengers?
• Thanos made a deal with the Avengers to use his army to protect Earth from the invading forces, but it came with a cost…
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – INHUMANS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • RILEY ROSSMO (a)
Cover by CHRISTIAN WARD
What if the INHUMANS took over Earth?
• BLACK BOLT is the new supreme ruler of Earth, but what happened to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – AVENGERS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON(w)
MIKE NORTON (a)
Cover by MATT FERGUSON
What if the AVENGERS lost the war?
• Years after the fall of Earth, CANNONBALL leads a small team of surviving mutants in the deepest parts of space looking for shelter. Eventually they meet up with a few surviving Avengers who had go to great and scary lengths to survive…
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON(w)
JASON COPLAND (a)
Cover by DAVE RAPOZA
What if the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY found out the ILLUMINATI were hiding Thanos?
• Thanos is the most wanted man in the universe and for years he was secretly being held by the Illuminati. The Guardians of the Galaxy just found out and they are ****** off.
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – DARK REIGN #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • GORAN SUDZUKA (a)
Cover by JAMES FLAMES
What if NORMAN OSBORN had the INFINITY GAUNTLET?!
• DARK REIGN returns as the GREEN GOBLIN gets his hands on the most dangerous item in the Marvel Universe! No one is safe!
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

As much as I’m a huge fan of the What If concept, was Infinity that much of a beloved crossover that people want to revisit it? I imagine the thought process was that Secret Wars 2015 was too much of a What If but Marvel wants to still sell a trade of Hickman’s so they went with his previous crossover. The first two issues were okay but that’s all I read. The Only one I’m interested in is the Avengers one, as it features Cannonball and a small team of mutants. Could this be a nice New Mutants reunion? I imagine, if it was, that it would be promoted as such. Kitty wasn’t even thought to be part of the Guardians, or had met them by that point (if my memory serves correctly) so she shouldn’t be in that series at all. I do like the Dark Reign remembrance and Norman Osborn with the Infinity Gauntlet should be a very interesting story concept.

HOWLING COMMANDOS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. #1
FRANK BARBIERE (w) • BRENT SCHOONOVER (a/C)
Hidden deep beneath AREA 13 lies the clandestine headquarters of S.T.A.K.E.–a top secret division of S.H.I.E.L.D. housing aliens, mythical beasts, and all manner of extra-normal entities. Under the command of legendary soldier DUM DUM DUGAN, these monsters step out of the shadows and defend the world against supernatural threats too dangerous for normal men as THE ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT HOWLING COMMANDOS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Man-Thing! The concept is awesome but I’m going to have to pass.

KARNAK #1
WARREN ELLIS (w) • GERARDO ZAFFINO (a)
Cover by DAVID AJA
THE FLAW IN ALL THINGS
“My curse is that I see the flaw in all things. Systems. Philosophies. Structures. People. Everything. Never forget who I am. I am Karnak of the Inhumans.” You may not know who Karnak is now, but you will when Warren Ellis (MOON KNIGHT, Planetary) and Gerardo Zaffino are done with you. Phil Coulson goes to Karnak to help with a SHIELD case with Inhuman implications and what he’s going to find will terrify you.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Marvel’s desire for the Inhumans to be super important, Karnak, and his power to see every flaw, was pretty awesome in Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee’s incredible Inhumans series (that I still want to own that motion comic, one day) but I’m not sure how long an ongoing of his can last. I know Marvel stated that their new philosophy was to treat ongoings like television series seasons, and have set 12 issue stories. Which isn’t horrible but that means that if you don’t like one issue, you are not coming back for a full year. Pass.

NEW AVENGERS #1 & 2
AL EWING (w) • GERARDO SANDOVAL (a/C)
EVERYTHING IS NEW. In the wake of SECRET WARS, the old order changeth – and Bobby DaCosta, Sunspot, is just the man to changeth it. Welcome to AVENGERS IDEA MECHANICS – a super-scientific global rescue squad of tomorrow’s heroes… today! America doesn’t want them! S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t know what to do with them! But Earth might not survive without… the NEW AVENGERS!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T+ …$3.99 (each)

Shouldn’t this series just be titled, Avengers Idea Mechanics? Why have an in-title name for the team but brand it an already well used name? Will this team change focus after a few issues? Ultimate Reed Richards being the other hold over from the Ultimate Universe, seems interesting. Now we have proper Human Torch (in Inhumans), Thing (in Guardians of the Galaxy) and now Ultimate Reed Richards is accounted for. Where is the proper Reed and Sue? I’m passing on this.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: SAM WILSON #1 & 2
NICK SPENCER (w) • DANIEL ACUñA (a/C)
When Steve Rogers was restored to his natural age, he chose one of his closest and most trusted allies to take up his shield. Now Sam Wilson, formerly the Avenger known as Falcon, carries on the fight for liberty and justice as the all-new, all-different Captain America!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

I like FalCap sticking around but I’m still passing on this.

 SPIDER-GWEN #1
JASON LATOUR (w) • ROBBI RODRIGUEZ (a/C)
BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!
Gwen Stacy is back in the webs and has an all-new, all-different mystery to solve: the reappearance of The Lizard! Spider-Woman was convinced that the Lizard died in her arms along with Peter Parker. But when a similar monster goes on a reptilian rampage, she’s left with doubts not only about Peter’s life, but his death as well. And witness the debut of the Osborns of Earth-65! Fan-favorite creators Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez & Rico Renzi are back for more with a story that every Spider-Fan will be talking about!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

I still haven’t read an appearance of Spider-Gwen and I don’t see that changing, anytime soon. Does this series, and the previous one, take place in her universe? That might explain why I haven’t seen her in anything. Pass.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 & 2
PETER DAVID (w) • WILL SLINEY (a)
2099 IN YOUR CALENDARS, #1 IN YOUR HEARTS.
With a job at PARKER INDUSTRIES, a stable relationship, and uncertain of what impact his actions will have on the future, Miguel O’Hara has decided that it’s time to hang up the webs and retire from being Spider-Man. But when a dangerous new threat appears and puts his new life in jeopardy, he’s got no choice but to don some new threads and tackle the problem the only way he knows how: head on! By the webslinging wonders Peter David and Will Sliney (you know ‘em, you love ‘em.) this is one EXPLOSIVE Spider-Title you won’t want to miss.
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

So is Miguel still in the present day? That new costume is going to get getting use to, but since I won’t see it outside of solicts, I doubt I will get the opportunity. Pass.

THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #1
RYAN NORTH (w) • ERICA HENDERSON (a/C)
NEW SERIES. NEW AVENGER(!). STILL EATS NUTS AND KICKS BUTTS!
Galactus. Thanos. M.O.D.O.K. With her unique combination of wit, empathy, and totally kick-butt squirrel powers, Doreen Green — aka The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl — has taken ALL these chumps down! Alongside her friends Tippy-Toe (a squirrel) and Nancy (a regular human with no powers whatsoever — they checked), Squirrel Girl is all that stands between the Earth and total destruction! Sometimes. Other times there’s no threats and she’s just a regular computer science student. That’s an adventure too though!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

The first series has been a load of fun but I’m still only going to read it in the store. Pass.

 UNCANNY AVENGERS #1
GERRY DUGGAN (w) • RYAN STEGMAN (a/C)
New team, same mission. Steve Rogers has formed a new Avengers unity squad compromised of humans, mutants and…Inhumans? A new threat to the Avengers is revealed. Wait, is that Deadpool on the cover? Is he seriously an Avenger now?
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

I like Gerry Duggan getting a proper big title – Deadpool is big but it isn’t Avengers big – and I guess Spider-Man is still going to take the time to be on teams and running a global business. Stark has done it for decades, so why not Parker? Deadpool makes sense being on this team, now that I know Duggan is involved. Passing but will be tracking it. Steve Rogers seems like he has the same position as around the Heroic Age, minus the SHIELD overview. Maybe?

UNCANNY INHUMANS #1
CHARLES SOULE (w)
STEVE MCNIVEN & BRANDON PETERSON (a)
Meet the Uncanny Inhumans. MEDUSA! BLACK BOLT! TRITON! READER! HUMAN TORCH?! BEAST?! It’s eight months later and everything is different for the Inhumans. Medusa and Johnny Storm are an item. Black Bolt is running covert missions of his own. And something so big happened between the Inhumans and the X-Men that Beast is now on the side of the Inhumans. And if that’s not enough, the most dangerous villain throughout Marvel’s history is against them—KANG THE CONQUEROR. Don’t miss what the epic team behind DEATH OF WOLVERINE (Charles Soule and Steve McNiven) have in store for you. All this plus a bonus story by Charles and Brandon Peterson (UNCANNY X-MEN).
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

Was Death of Wolverine ever late? I can’t recall. Human Torch is in this as is the traitorous Beast, so that’s not enough to get me to buy this. Pass.

Relive the big-screen thrills of Marvel’s Iron Man, and begin building your indispensable library of Cinematic Universe reference books!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

As much as I adore Handbooks, them being about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaves me cold. May have to flip through a copy in the store.

MARVEL SUPER HERO CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1
STEVEN GRANT, MARK GRUENWALD & BILL MANTLO (w)
JOHN ROMITA JR. (a/C)
• The Grandmaster enters a cosmic wager with Death herself, using Earth’s mightiest heroes as his chess pieces!

•The stakes? Nothing less than the fate of the Earth itself!

•Guest-starring…everyone! (Everyone circa 1982, that is.)
•Collecting MARVEL SUPER HERO CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1-3.
88 PGS./Rated T …$7.99

Kitty is in the first and third issues of this, and it may be fun to keep a nice copy on the shelf. It is priced right. If only Kitty was on the cover, I would be super tempted but if Hastings gets a copy, I could see being tempted by it.

Can Kitty show up in this cartoon? That would be pretty awesome!

I’m glad they group the four Star Wars ongoings together and at the bottom, makes it easier to skip right over them.

$50 for a hardcover, isn’t terrible. Thus far, in the first four issues – Ultimate Shadowcat has only been in the first issue. Issue four had two major deaths but I can see the trade being a great read. I’m not sure about re-read but if you are waiting for this trade, I imagine it won’t disappoint. I do like it coming out in the same month as the final issue. I know I read the final issue of DC’s Convergeance (which was horrible) and seeing plenty of copies of the other issues, I could have read the whole series, right there but I like the idea of being tempted to read the final issue and buying the trade to get the whole story. Then, the fifty dollars price point, may be a turn off.

120 PGS./Rated T+ …$16.99
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9862-8

If you are a Doug Ramsey completist, you may want this and for $17, that isn’t bad. I’m still hoping that Shadowcat shows up but she is busy over in Star Lord & Kitty Pryde – if that will never come out.

I’m surprised Marvel didn’t brand the trades as “Secret Wars 2015 – Age of Apocalypse – Warzones” but I’m sure the Secret Wars 2015 logo will appear somewhere on the trade dress.

Issues 12 and 13 are Battle of the Atom crossover and since that never happen, they are not reprinting it – that’s my theory. This was when the title was pumping out the hits. If you are not turn off by the $35, I would recommend you buy it. Most websites, don’t charge you the full price if you order early.

Now this, if I had a spare $100 (and I never do!) I would buy this in a heartbeat! The entire Paul Smith run, in a beautiful hardcover, yes please! Plus a slew of other titles. I would definitely put a bookmark wherever issue 165 starts and read on from there, countless times. Probably be another bookmark right when the Original Brood Saga begins with Cockrum on art but 165 to 175, is so great. Legendarily great! Legendarily, is a word, who knew?

136 PGS./Rated T+ …$16.99

Issues three and five were pretty good, even though Lockheed doesn’t appear or is mention in the fifth issue. Issue three was the Black Vortex crossover, which has an appearance by Magik in it.

. . .

October doesn’t look to be too expensive for me. It is mostly a large number of Maybe titles.

Secret Wars 8            $5
Siege 4            $4
Age of Apocalypse 5            $4
All New All Different Marvel Point One             $6
Contest of Champions 1            $5
Extraordinary X-Men 1 &2            $9
Guardians of the Galaxy 1            $4
What If : Infinity – Avengers                        $4
Marvel Super Heroes Spectacular            $4

With ten comics for a total of $45 but I save a dollar a comic, that’s only $35, which is under my $40 budget. I probably only really buy Extraordinary X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy, which is $13 – 3 = $10, which is even better!

I do wonder how Kitty being in this will effect the films, if at all. I still say if they introduced her as ‘Star Lady” and had her name be, Katherine, they probably could get away with it. But her being part of the comics, makes me think I will be buying a slew of titles, going toward.

This wasn’t even all of the new number ones, as there are still six or ten other X-Related titles so November may be the expensive month.

. . .

This seems silly to add, but I know I will need this when I look back at it in a few months :

Titles to add to my pull list –

All New All Different Marvel Point One
Contest of Champions
Extraordinary X-Men
Guardians of the Galaxy
What If : Infinity – Avengers
Marvel Super Heroes Spectacular

Big Brother 17 – Wednesday – July 15, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 16, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television, Websites. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. Leave a comment

Who was picked for Veto?  Who won Veto?  Did the nominees change?  Let’s find out!

Vanessa is the reigning HoH.

James doesn’t suspect that John was throwing it, probably because he himself was pretty lousy.  I’m not sure why James thinks that Audrey is still the target, when he hasn’t spoken to Vanessa, at all.  Vanessa still wants James or Jeff to go, she says James has a 30% chance of winning HoH, every week.

Switch # 9, Liz wants Julia to be friendlier.

Audrey asks Vanessa if the lotion is in the HoH room, is there only the one bottle!?! Vanessa wants to be secret allies with Audrey, which she is okay with.

Austin keeps trying to make Jeff think that they are allies.  Austin wants Jeff, Clay and James – and they can be unbeatable.  Jeff suggests that if they get Shelli out, Clay will get in line.  That’s pretty smart, actually.

Veto Player Selection!

Vanessa – Shelli
John – Houseguest Choice – Austin (Nice! for the plan)
James – Audrey, Vanessa must have told John & James that backdooring Audrey was the plan.

I’m now on Big Brother 3 and Production (I’m on episode three) keeps finding ways to put the ladies in bikinis, pretty clever, Production.

The comp is the two giant dice from the previous season.  Becky is the host, not in a bikini.  Gronk and Roll, is the name.

Round One – Vanessa v Audrey – Audrey wins
Round Two – John v Audrey – John wins!  He knows his mythology
Round Three – James v Austin – Austin wins
Round Four – Shelli v Austin – Austin wins, Shelli didn’t try
Round Five – John v Austin – Final Round! – John wins!  again!  Austin, for the first time, actually got on the mat as well.

John and his convo with the Veto, so awesome!  He adopted a voice and everything!

Vanessa should just nominate Jeff, next to James and tell people “I’m HoH, bitch, I do what I want” there really is no need for explanations.

Vanessa confronts Austin about how he threw the comp to John.  He is denying it, which annoys him.  They are fighting like crazy people.  Austin should have just owned up to it.

Gronk party!  Whenever he calls, they must do what he says or become a Have Not, for the week.

Toga Party, is up first!  Pool Party!  Gronk got the ladies in bikinis, he is smart!  Shower Party, up third!  Poor John, was the only one with a hoodie on.  Fourth, tea party!  Jason and Meg kissed!  Clay and James, kissed as well.  Costume Party, up fifth.  Sixth, sleeping party.  Seventh, Kitchen party.  Limbo-ing!  Congo party, eigth!  Nineth, hot tub party!  It was too early.  So fun!

Jackie had a great bikini but I’m not finding a picture of it.

Jason can tell that Austin is lying, so he is definitely in an alliance with Vanessa.  Jeff confides in Clay, about Austin’s betrayal, so Jeff clearly doesn’t know what is happening in the house.  Austin and Clay are both wearing pink sweaters.  Austin tells Vanessa (and Audrey) and Vanessa wants Austin to blow up Jeff’s game.  Austin is trying to get Jeff to blow up but Jeff isn’t smart enough to take the bait.

BBTakeover!  Gronk is a Super Bowl champion, and is going to reward a winner with a cruise, three days from Miami and the Bahamas.  The BotB winners, HoH winners and PoV winners – Jason/Meg, Austin/Vanessa and John.  They have the chug.  Meg wins the first chip.  Oh, that’s it?  That seemed pretty simple for such a big prize.

Veto Meeting!  John uses the Power of Veto, as he is not an idiot.  Party Time!  Party in the Living Room!  Poor John, was in the middle of the Veto speech.  Vanessa replaces John with . . . Jeff!  I’m all for Jeff going home next.  We will find out Thursday!

. . .

Here is Becky in a bikini, after we were denied the option.

BB17 Becky Blue Bikini

Jackie in a pink bikini –

BB17 Jackie Pink BIkini

Here is a new website I found, for pictures –

Death of Wolverine : Weapon X Program 1

Posted by John Klein III on July 15, 2015

Weapon X Program 1

Writer Charles Soule

Artist & Cover Salvador Larroca

Colors Frank D’Armata

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Cover Dated January 2015

Hastings had this issue so that is one less on my Wishlist!  Now that we know the black caption boxes with red letters is the voice of Ogun, I had to seek this issue out.  I bought this for one dollar, which is pretty awesome.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 1

The voice, let’s just refer to it as Ogun’s voice as there is no point of going along with the mystery now that we know who it is.  Sharp wakes up as Ogun’s voice beckons.  So this is how Sharp looks.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 2 Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 3

Paradise.  Ogun tells Sharp to ignore the pain and start escaping.  Maybe that isn’t Sharp’s face on the previous page as here, he has blonde hair and I don’t think blondes have dark eyebrow lashes.  Plus, Larroca is making a point of keeping his face hidden.  Oh, I bet that first face is Skel, but why put Ogun’s boxes on that page?  I don’t know.

Sharp starts checking on the bodies on the ground but Ogun tells him to keep moving.

Weapon X Program 1 Sharp 1

A guard who is walking Neuro . . . somewhere, is taken out by Sharp.

Weapon X Program 1 Sharp 2

Sharp isn’t a test subject like Neuro, he was a volunteer.  Neuro’s real name is Harold Stanch.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 4

After donning a bulky gas mask, Sharp introduces himself.  We get a quick flashback to Ogun during a war.  How does anyone see out of googles?  Ogun must be so annoyed as his depth perception is all off.  Not depth perception, range of scope.

Nuero doesn’t remember much, he only recalling being slapped by the now dead guard and being placed in handcuffs.  These two run into Junk and Skel, which I’m pretty proud that I know these codenames now, they finally left an impression on me.  Also fun is that when this first goes their separate ways, these are the duos that stick together.

Junk doesn’t notice the smoke that Sharp does, which is probably do to his heighten senses.  More soldiers come in and start firing away.  Junk apparently has acid spit, so that’s gross.  Sharp volunteers, it is what he does, to take on all of the soldiers as the others escape.  Skel joins the fight and starts feeling better, the first hint of that.

Neuro stands too close to inspect Junk and he pushes him away, it is a very rude thing to do.  Shape wants to head outside but down but Neuro corrects him, the best way out is up.  He has analyzed that the smoke is below them, so down is where the fire is.  Does Neuro get dust on his brain or does he have a glass plate over his noggin?

Sharp notices a lady, Endo, and gets her to join the group.  She resists at first, and Ogun tells Sharp to slap her but Sharp convinces her that they are the best way to survive.

Endo stakes out the remaining guards around the helicopter and Sharp heads out to fight them.  We get a flashback panel to Saigon, 1975, with Ogun getting onto a helicopter.  I really like Ogun’s response to Wolverine’s metal coated skeleton corpose, hhh – who is he, Batman?

Sharp kills the soldiers.  On the helicopter is a blonde lady, who we still don’t know the name of.  Paradise crumbles as they fly away.  Endo thanks Sharp for saving them all.

Weapon X Program 1 Last Page

Sharp takes off his mask and sees Logan’s face in a reflection, which we know is an illusion as we’ve seen his blonde hair throughout the issue.  It is a decent fakeout that it isn’t Ogun but Logan’s voice but I like this reveal as let’s keep Logan dead as long as possible.  With Secret Wars 2015, we are going to be seeing a load of Wolverines, so it will be like he is with us again, soon enough.

SDCC 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 14, 2015
Posted in: Convention, Fun With YouTube, Websites. Tagged: Adams - Art, Newsarama, S&FwM, YouTube. Leave a comment

So San Diego Comic Con 2015 was as exciting as I thought it would be – on the news front.  I figured I would just do one post, for the entire event.

Of course, my friends who were lucky enough to go this year, all had amazing photos and stories that I’m glad they shared.

Here are the stories that caught my attention –

http://www.newsarama.com/25109-report-ben-affleck-to-direct-co-write-with-geoff-johns-star-in-batman-solo-film.html

Ben Affleck to co-write (with Geoff Johns), direct and – naturally – star in the next solo Batman film, which would come out before the first Justice League film.  Which I’m all for, and I can only imagine, was discussed prior to him signing his original contract.

http://www.newsarama.com/25101-gotham-star-wants-to-join-suicide-squad-movie-but-in-new-role.html

Halle Berry would jump at another chance to be Storm.  Which I wouldn’t mind a solo Storm film, as long as it was both good and maybe featured another mutant character, maybe a best friend type of character that was younger than her.  perhaps.

http://www.newsarama.com/25118-sdcc-2015-secret-wars-panel.html

As far as I can tell, no real news and barely anything was really said.

http://www.newsarama.com/25125-sdcc-2015-all-new-all-different-avengers-panel.html

The same for the All New All Different Avengers.  They don’t have Tony Stark’s money so it must not be Tony in the Iron Man armor, right?

Things started getting interesting, Friday night.

http://www.newsarama.com/25135-batman-and-the-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-team-up-no-really.html

The Ninja Turtles are coming to Gotham!  The Ninja Turtles / Ghostbusters crossover was pretty great.  The 80s Ghostbusters / today’s Ghostbusters crossover was also pretty great.

Something to make Uncanny X-Cast listener, CosmicTimes, happy –

http://www.newsarama.com/25138-rom-and-micronauts-finally-return-but-not-where-you-think.html

ROM and the Mirconauts are coming to . . . IDW!  Too bad Marvel-Disney couldn’t just buy the rights.  Then they could start reprinting ROM appearances again.

Saturday, which makes sense, things started getting really good.

I’m not a fan of the Newsarama does their coverage, it just doesn’t load right for me.

http://www.newsarama.com/25141-batman-the-killing-joke-animated-movie-by-bruce-timm-announced.html

Animated Killing Joke is coming!  This reminds me that I still really need to watch the two part Dark Knight Returns.

http://www.newsarama.com/25156-sdcc-2015-marvel-cup-of-joe-panel.html

Not much revealed at the Cup of Joe panel.  I did learn that Hank Pym merged with Ultron, so that’s something.  The All New All Different Avengers are suppose to have the feel of Claremont / Byrne / Austin X-Men, lots of character interactions and epic adventures.  Time will tell.  There will be an Avengers Zero issue that should set up that line.

http://www.newsarama.com/25150-first-look-oscar-isaac-as-x-men-s-apocalypse.html

First look of Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, it is just a picture of him, in shadow but it looks like they are going for his head.

Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse tease SDCC 2015

I’ve started following, ErikDavis, so I feel like I can post that image.  Thanks!

http://www.newsarama.com/25152-new-batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice-comic-con-trailer.html

New Batman v Superman trailer!  It looks like a real movie now!

Thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures for hosting their video.

I found the Warner Brothers Panel!  (minus the cool clips, of course)

Thanks to YouTuber moviemaniacsDE for hosting the video!

I could listen to Affleck tell Bale stories, all day!

I didn’t even know that Jeremy Irons was going to be in this AND he’s Alfred, that’s pretty awesome.  Amy Adams, being in this, makes sense but it felt new too.  I couldn’t make out the “red capes are coming” until I turned the volume way up.  Krytonite, is in there.  Bruce Wayne being in Metropolis during the conclusion of Man of Steel, is interesting.  I like seeing Wonder Woman in this.  Was that a scene set in the Middle East?  This film does feel epic.  Oh and Ma Kent’s “be their angel” but also “don’t feel the need to do anything, you don’t owe them anything” reminds me of Pa Kent’s “maybe” you should have let those kids die.

I wish I could save and post the Art Adams Guardians of the Galaxy image but that definitely looks like Kitty Pryde, but with a Star Lord mask.

My buddy, Mark Maslauskas got me the image!

I’m hoping videos from this panel, the FOX Fantastic Four / X-Men / Deadpool presentation, make their way to YouTube, soon.

Thanks to Flicks and the City for hosting the X-Men Apocalypse panel.

https://www.youtube.com/user/flicksandthecity/videos

They have a slew of the videos from various panels of the con.  I have to check these out when I have more time.

Here is a fun video of the new record of most superheroes in a picture!

Thanks, again, to Flicks and the City.  I imagine the last holder of the record was the original Avengers SDCC from two years ago.

Sunday –

http://www.newsarama.com/25188-spider-man-deadpool-by-kelly-mcguinness-revealed.html

Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness are coming back to Deadpool!  oh, and they are bringing Spider-Man along.  I like how Newsarama says that Kelly had a ‘memorable’ run with the character, as oppose to LEGENDARY run with the character!

http://www.newsarama.com/25187-sdcc-2015-spider-man-his-amazing-friends-panel.html

There is a new title, Spidey, that deals with a teenage Spider-Man – so yet another all ages Spider-Man title that will possibly last twelve issues.  Spider-Man 2099 is getting a new costume, which the original is so classic but we shall give it a chance.

The finale panel, that I was tracking – is the Women of Marvel panel

http://www.newsarama.com/25181-sdcc-2015-women-of-marvel-panel.html

Not much was revealed in these panels, but we figured that at the offset.  I didn’t know that Marguerite Bennett was wring A-Force and Years of Future Past, so this makes me want to read A-Force as I’m loving the latter series.

So that is everything that I saw of SDCC 2015.  Maybe one day, I can go back to one again.

. . .

Yesterday, we finally outdid November 2014 as our best month ever, in terms of views.  Thanks again everybody!

Big Brother 17 – Sunday – July 12, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 13, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. Leave a comment

Who did Austin & Vanessa nominate for the Battle of the Block?  I imagine Austin and Vanessa make for an interesting pair of HoHs.

Da’ had a very bad day – oh narrator.

I wish they would go back to graying out the evicted houseguest, in the opening sequence.

Day 22.  Austin is smart to promote, Judas – his wrestling persona – as he should use this show to rocket to success.  Austin is Vanessa’s closet ally in the house, that makes sense.  The twin tells Vanessa what Dav’ said and confirms that she is a twin, Julia, is the one who tells the truth.  Julia is the skinny one, which is nice that Vanessa tells her all of these things that the twins need to do better.  Like, not sleeping as much and having to eat more.  Vanessa wants to keep the twins in and grabs Shelli / Clay in for a new alliance.  They all know about the five weeks requirement.  This all happen nine hours prior to eviction.  Five evictions.  Clay warns Julia so that she is never alone with – Jason, James and Audrey.

Zeta sorority love, as Liz/ Julia / Shelli all went to the same university.

Vanessa lets Austin in on the secret too, who hasn’t been paying attention, at all.  Liz is the flirty one.  Every three days, is the switch.  Poor Austin, he noticed how Liz went hot and cold on him.  Six person alliance, I like it.  They need to get Steve and John!

Production probably is happy to be able to place, Julia, on the screen.

oh Jeff, wasn’t paying attention when the HoHs were named.  He didn’t even know there was two of them!

Jeff and James, I could really use some subtitles, when they are whispering.

Jeff – James – Jason – Audrey – Meg – seem to be the other side of the house, with Audrey not being a member of the group.

Austin doesn’t like Audrey leaving, and Vanessa wants to get Jeff out.  They want to nominate – Jeff, Jason and James.

HoH Room!  Vanessa does have an attractive girlfriend, Mel.  Austin’s baby pictures.  Him as a baby, I mean.  Austin is a Clay Aiken fan.  As a Barry Manilow fan, I can relate.

Switch #8.  Julia has to tell Liz, so she knows about the six person alliance.  Poor Liz, Julia tells her to eat less and Julia gets to eat more.

Liz goes straight to HoH room to get the real low down.  Liz isn’t on cloud nine but CLOUD TEN!  Poor poor Liz, started snacking so fast.

Six Sense, is the alliance name.

Steve and Clay try to hang on the hammock, but it collapses.

Jackie and John are also in the group with Jeff and James.  John notices Liz’s fake tooth.  That’s why no one likes dentists.  Jeff doesn’t quite figure it out.

Jeff tries to ‘update’ Austin about the twins, oh Jeff.  Jeff thinks the twin that doesn’t have a crush on Austin, has a crush on Jeff.  Oh Jeff.  Austin wants to get Jeff out of the game.  Vanessa wants to front door (as oppose to back door) Jeff and James and are trying to come up with the best ways.  Vanessa and Austin, talk to John about putting him up – one more time.  He will not be nominated again, for another few weeks.  He goes with it, as he is a good guy.  I love Johnny Mac.

This is episode nine of possibly, thirty.  17 minutes left, Production doesn’t leave much time for both nominations and the Battle of the Block, but they know what is up.

NOMINATIONS –

Austin – (so dramatic!) Meg (Pawn) & Jason
Vanessa – James & John (Pawn)

So Vanessa, is the planned HoH going forward.

John doesn’t like that his photo isn’t in the top row, that’s pretty funny.

oh Audrey, she went out of her way to not say – expect the unexpected.  The worst

Austin tries to assure Jason and Meg, that they are not the targets.  Poor James, on the other hand, has confidence in John but he doesn’t know the whole story.

My wife explained to me why women find David Beckham attractive and now, I don’t care for him or his Sprint commercials.  Apparently, he has pretty eyes and a body that is chiseled from rock.

Production put Shelli, the host, into a sexy purple bikini.  Anyone have pictures of that?  Does she put up a fight over that or does she just giggle?

Party theme bubble bath, is the Comp.  Lost and Found, is the  goal, they are finding models.  It does seem to be an easy one to throw.

Poor John, Meg & Jason are pretty bad at this comp.

Meg and Jason win!  Austin is unseated!

Now we just need John to win Veto, or have someone else win it and take him off and Vanessa can put up Jeff.

. . .

Here is the image that busted the twins –

BB17 Julia Black Bikini Hat

oh Julia!

Here is a handy side by side –

BB17 Twins SideBySide

Though I’m not sure which is which, there.

Big Brother 17 – Thursday – July 9, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 12, 2015

Who goes home?  Who is the new Head of Household?

We definitely stayed up until 11:20pm and the new episode still wasn’t up so maybe the live element of it makes it so that it has to wait until midnight?  I’m not sure.  My Friday nights are typically a tad hectic but if I can watch it late that night, this will post on Saturday morning.

A lot of game has been played, in only two weeks.

BUT FIRST!

I keep forgetting about Kathy Griffin’s Last Laugh Twist.

Meg looks great in that half shirt.

Get ready for a BBTakeover!  There is a red phone booth (if only it was blue!) and Kathy reveals that there will be 15 phone calls, one of them will be able to prevent three people from voting this week.  It is the seventh phone call and Da’Vonne gets the call and the power!  She’s smart to downplay it.  Cody wanted the seventh call but Da’vonne gets in there first.

Other tips – Be Less Annoying.  Lose ten pounds.  Breath mints, all of them.  Use more sun block.    Showers are suppose to be daily.  Burn your wardrobe.  Get more beauty sleep.  Use deodorant.

They are all pre-recordings.

I really do want Da’vonne to go home, just because Production clearly loves her.

Da’vonne wants to take away Cody’s right to vote, which everyone already knew was going to happen.  Da’vonne goes around trying to get votes.  Audrey is right to make sure a bigger target is in front of her.

Shelli and Clay know that Da’vonne got the power, as Da’ is way to happy.  Da’ needs five votes – Jason, Vanessa, John, James, Austin and Steve – are who Shelli thinks will vote to keep Da’vonne around.

New England Patriot tight end will be the next BBTakeover guest.

Devon is in the crowd.  We see him.

Da’vonne and Jason pretty much can tell that Liz is a twin twist.  Da’vonne notices that Liz’s body weight seems to change every few days.  She tells Jason and they start telling everybody.  This is fine, as long as they stay in the house and don’t get evicted.  Jason points out that the heavier one works out and the skinnier one (I’m not sure which one is which) lays around the house.  This all happens while Liz is sleeping so the whole house has this huge suspension.  It all starts adding up.  Da’vonne is trying to figure out how to use this to her advantage.  Da’vonne tells Liz that the house knows that she is a twin and Liz tries to play it cool.  Da’vonne tells this to Julia.

I do like how Da’vonne says, child.

Live vote and eviction, is next.

Da’vonne’s three no-voters are – Becky, Jeff and Jackie.  They have to sit in the dining room as they can’t be part of the vote at all.  Probably to make sure that Chenbot doesn’t call on them.  I wonder what the rationale was.

The houseguests are dressed casually.

The former HoH and the two Amazing Race folks

Da’vonne does some quick shoutouts but calls out the cowards.  Meg keeps her speech pretty casual.

The voting –

Jason – Meg
Clay – Da’vonne
John – Da’vonne
Audrey – Meg
Commercial break
Austin/Judas – Da’Vonne
Liz – (Julia!) Da’vonne
Vanessa – Da’vonne
Officially, Da’vonne is coming home
James – Da’vonne
Steve – Da’vonne

Chenbot forces them to vote ‘Da’vonne’ instead of ‘Da” or ‘MamaDa” so weird.

Da’vonne is evicted!  I won’t be missing her.  I am curious who Production will get behind now.

Chenbot confirms to Da’vonne that Liz and Julia are twins, playing together.

Da’vonne suspects that no one wants to vote Audrey out, in fear that they will come across as Anti-Trans-Gender, which may be a real thing.

BBTakeover!  Rob “Grind” Bobdinski, or something, I was hoping they were going to put his name on the screen.  They are going to party all week long.  No Have Nots.  He hints that winners will get something extra.

HoH, both should be crowned, tonight.

They have to play a giant game of Beer Pong. Gronk Pong, so that’s how you spell that guy’s nickname.

Two highest scores are HoH

Julia – 23
Jackie – missed!
John – missed!
James – 23
Audrey – 17, too low
Clay – 6, way too low
Jeff – 14, too low (I do like how the camera has to pan up to these low numbers)
Becky – missed!
Austin – 28, I wonder how they will deal with the tie-breaker?
Jason – missed!
Meg – 1
Steve – fell into 28 and then bounced out.
Vanessa – 23 – three way tie!

Tie-Breaker!  Shoot out!  They all have to go again.

Liz – 22
James – 35
Vanessa – 52

I like Chenbot having to rush them, as they are on a live show.

The HoH are – Austin and Vanessa!

. . .

Here is a pic of Liz!

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Three Issue 24

Posted by John Klein III on July 11, 2015

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24

Writer Brian Michael Bendis

Artist Valerio Schiti

Colorist Jason Keith

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Black Vortex, Chapter Two

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty 1 Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty 1b Lockheed

Lockheed appears for the first time in this crossover!  Hopefully not the last!

Everyone stands in awe of Gamora’s new enhanced form.  I like how Quill’s narration jokes about how out of touch he is with today’s popular culture.

Gamora makes short work of the Slaughter Lords.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 1

Storm dares to give Magik a suggestion, but since it makes sense, Illyana follows through and teleports the heroes away.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 2

Magik teleported them to the moon of Spartax.  Hank doesn’t want to destroy it, he wants to study it.

Pryde and Quill start having an agrument, he wants to use the Black Vortex and Pryde doesn’t.  This continues the Earth fraction not wanting to use it and the space travelers wanting to use the cosmic mirror.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 3

Kitty wants some assistance from Carol but she also wants to use the Black Vortex.  Carol makes the excellent point of how Gamora is walking around and seems fine.  Kitty turns to Illyana and she is hesitant to make a decision.  Magik’s point is that, out in space, the stakes are at an all time high so the additional power is an asset.  Drax does want to destroy it, so there are some people on both sides that differ from their teammates.  Beast gets a thought.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 4

Pryde cites the Phoenix Force and Rocket has the best response ever to someone hearing the word, Phoenix.  He and I are so tired of hearing about the Phoenix.  Jean offers to take a vote but Quill shuts that down, whoever wants to use it should be allowed to use it.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Lockheed 2

Gamora mentions, Thanos, which he alone makes using the Black Vortex a necessary tool.  Thanos took on most of the Avengers and won that outcome until Silver Surfer distracted him.

Beast starts staring into the Black Vortex, I’m trying out different words for it so that I don’t keep calling it by its name or refer to it as a mirror.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Beast Cosmic

Beast becomes enhanced and gets a red fishbowl over his head.  How does it change your clothes?

Mister Knife’s Flying Fortress.  J-Son is thinking over what his next steps should be, as Thane talks to his pale ghost friend person – who I really want to learn more about.  Also in the room is a Brood Emissary, which the Brood were scary when they were nude but wearing a red cloak?  Makes this one seem even creepier.

J-Son can’t believe his son is forcing his hand, yet again.  J-Son has made up his mind and addresses his guests.  He tells the Brood he can leave, he will still hold his end with the Brood Queen.  He threatens to kiss the next Brood Emissary that she sends.  The ghost friend wants Thane to kill J-Son, that would fix several problems.

The ghost friend states that Thane has all of his father’s strengths and none of his defects – namely, a crush on Death.

There is a handy two page trade recommendations if you want to know everything there is for this team of Guardians of the Galaxy, probably as next issue is the big 25th issue anniversary.  Which is part of Black Vortex, so I should be getting a copy.  The trades are – Annihilation Ombinus / Annihilation : Conquest Omnibus / Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett & Lanning : Complete Collection Volume One / War of Kings / Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett & Lanning : Complete Collection Volume Two / Realm of Kings / Thanos Imperative / Rocket Raccoon & Groot : Complete Collection / Avengers Assemble by Bendis / Guardians of the Galaxy : Cosmic Avengers / Nova Vol 1 : Origin / Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 : Angela / Trial of Jean Grey / Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 : Guardians Disassembled / Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 4 : Original Sin / Rocket Raccoon Vol 1 : Chasing Tale / Legendary Star Lord Vol 1 : Face It, I Rule / Captain Marvel Vol 1 : Higher, Further, Faster, More – which is a lot of trades at 18!  I keep being told, this many years later, that Annihilation was very good.  Though those same people are not huge fans of Bendis’ take on the Guardians.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 5

Beast now fills like he can see everything in the universe, everything makes sense.  He now believes he can fix everything that he ruined, which is a great deal.  I wish Bendis took the time here to have Beast explain how he can send the All New X-Men back in time.  The Incusions, from what I’ve read, we haven’t lost any known universes.

Kitty wishes that Beast didn’t take this advantage.  Beast calls it an evolution, so that works for me too.  Kitty now really doesn’t want to use it.  Which I see her point, don’t do anything that Beast does!  Beast can’t believe they don’t want to evolve and Gamora is right there with him.

X23 jumps at the Black Vortex.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty 1

Beast lashes out and strikes her with an energy attack, so he can do that now.  So clearly there is an edge that comes over you when you evolve.  Beast, at least, looks shock at what he did.  Rocket now doesn’t want to evolve.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Kitty Magik 6

Nova lands on this moon, so we are getting closer to having our full cast, he is responding to the distress signal.  This must be a sight for him, seeing a green lady he doesn’t know, holding  a large purple mirror.

Guardians of the Galaxy V3 24 Lockheed 3

Issue ends with Gamora forcing everyone to stare into the mirror and we get to see what their evolved states look like.

Lockheed is a giant dragon, which is pretty cool.  Agent Venom looks like Captain Universe Spider-Man.  Storm looks like what we saw in Black Vortex Alpha.  Rocket looks to be the height of a grown man.  Carol seems to have lost her nose and become an elderly lady, so that isn’t great.  I’m not sure how that lady is with the star on her chest?  I can’t figure out who is missing.  X23 gets a brown and tan costume.  Drax seems to be even larger.  Is that blue energy lady suppose to be Kitty?  No wonder she doesn’t want to get evolved, that is horrible.  Angel looks like Archangel, which makes sense.  Lastly, Magik gets even more clothes on her, so that is pretty impressive.

Two chapters in, and this is still pretty good, great team dynamics.  Humphries gets the ball back in Legendary Star Lord 9.

Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men : Black Vortex – Alpha

Black Vortex Alpha

Writer Sam Humphries

Penciler Ed McGuinness

Additional Pencils Kris Anka

Inkers Kris Anka, Mark Farmer, Jay Leisten & Mark Morales

Colorists Marte Gracia & Marcelo Maiolo

Letterer VC’s Travis Lanham

Black Vortex, Chapter 1 (obviously)

Look, VC got another letterer!

I’m glad this official cover covers up McGuinness’ poor choice in putting Magik in that position that is impossible unless she broke her back.

Feb 2015 Solicts GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY & X-MEN - THE BLACK VORTEX ALPHA 1

Why would she be so hunched over?  Stand up straight, young lady!

After months of build up and hype, Black Vortex begins!

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty Magik 1

Issue opens with Quill wondering if anyone wants to try the Black Vortex?  Did they steal it in an issue that I missed?  I remember issue eight of his series with Kitty wanting to steal it.

Twelve Billion Years Ago.  Planet Viscardi.  A rocket ship is blasting off in front of a Celestrial.  Apparently, the aliens of the planet have been trying to get pass the Celestrial as it keeps eye blasting the ships.  Gara, of the Viscardi, shouts at the Celestrial – that she calls, Godhead.  Within four generations, they went from the caves to the sky.  Nine rockets later, she is losing her mind, a little.  She wants to live out in the stars, and she doesn’t understand why their god isn’t impress with their efforts.  The Godhead turns its head, for the first time in forever, and creates the Black Vortex right in front of her.  She sees her reflection, and older version of herself.

The Jean Grey School for Higher Learning.  Storm wants Beast to fix what he broke, she wants him to return the Original X-Men back to their proper time period.  I bet that once they left the school, he hasn’t given them much thought.

Black Vortex Alpha Magik 1

I like how every character gets a quick introduction caption, that was so great and useful when Fraction was on the books.  Magik’s caption reads “Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, Demon-Witch Teleporter” which pretty much sums her up.

Magik teleports the All New X-Men in front of Storm and Beast.  Magik tells Beast that Professor K is summoning him to outer space.

Bobby is way to excited to see these two fallen X-Men.  Such a great exchange between Magik and Bobby, she wants him to recite what she told him about his attitude.  “Be the terror you wish to be in the world.”  I can see her saying that and I can see him repeating that to himself, constantly.

I really like Magik ignoring Storm, as she should.  Beast wants to know why Kitty is in outer space.  Magik doesn’t approve of Quill, for some reason – I imagine it is because she doesn’t want to lose her best friend to outer space.  Magik tells him that Kitty will explain herself.

The Guardians of the Galaxy, minus Quill but including Agent Venom and Captain Marvel – are playing a universal version of Dungeons and Dragons.  Rocket is the Dungeon Master, for copyright purposes, he is called – The Game Master.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty mention 1

Quill interrupts the game with a phone call, which annoys them all.  I like how the Guardians have a Game Night, that seems pretty awesome.

Quill is in big big trouble and needs his team.  We begin the sequence of how they came about having the Black Vortex.  They snuck back onto his father’s floating base through the laundry – which apparently smells worst after it is clean than it did when it was dirty

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 1

Kitty’s character caption reads “Kitty Pryde, Intangible, X-Genius.  Good Girl, Usually” which also sums her up rather well.

Kitty points a gun at the laundry folks and they steal their uniforms.  Quill informs the Guardians that Mr. Knife is his own father.  Quill admits that if he had her powers, he would never stop stealing, which she kisses him.  This whole adventure is pretty exciting, I suppose.

They phase their faces through a wall to see . . . J-Son, Thane and someone about to touch the Black Vortex, the last remaining Blood Brother. Blood Brother stare into the Black Vortex.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 2

He becomes a massive version of himself!  He joins the rest of the Slaughter Squad, who are now called – Slaughter Lords!  Which I appreciiate having the characters renamed, as I still can’t keep their names in my head.  Father Diablo, Delphina, Czar Doon and Misa the Hunter.  They have all stared deeply into the Black Vortex and received massive power upgrades.  Why J-Son hasn’t powered himself up yet, is beyond me.

Kitty recognizes the villains.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 3

Quill wants to escape and forget this galaxy ever existed.  Kitty, being a hero, needs to do something about the new threat.

J-Son explains to Thane, if he wants the power, he has to submit to the cosmos and to his true potential.  He begins to submit.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 4

Just then, StarKat surprises J-Son and Thane and phases the Black Vortex through the floor.

I like Misa the Hunter stating her own name, that saves me having to flip back a page.  Misa knows where they are heading, so J-Son can take his time following.

There is an ad for Spider-Woman 5, with Jessica Drew’s new costume – which I’m not really loving.  Seems like someone really wanted to give her a Spider-Man style shirt.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty Magik 2

Planet Spartax.  Quill is not happy that no one is paying him attention as the others are taking the time to catch up.

Gamora, X23 and Flash are comparing sharpness of weapons.

Storm makes fun of Kitty for dating yet another Peter.  Illyana refers to how Kitty’s hamster growing up was named, Peter.  It is all related.

Bobby tries to make fun of Groot.

Beast and Carol hug as it has been far too long, I like how she lifts him.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty Magik 3

Beast wants to inspect the Black Vortex and Quill takes the time to make a Disney’s Beauty and the Beast reference.  As oppose to the awesome Ron Perlman / Linda Hamilton Beauty and the Beast.  Such a great theme song!

The children of the orphanage come out to see what all of the superhero types are doing on their front lawn.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 5

Kitty calls him, Dr. McCoy and Beast calls her, Space Commander Kitty – in a very cute exchange.

Rocket wants to see what his Black Vortex version would look like.

One of the kids is staring deeply into the Black Vortex, Storm takes a look and sees her version.  She apparently has desires to destroy planets.

Planet Viscardi.  One Year After the Advent of the Black Vortex. Gara has killed the last of her species, after they all got turned.  After she kills him, she turns to Godhead who is not impressed and leaves.

Back on Spartax.  Gamora wants to try the mirror but Storm says no.  I like how Gamora doesn’t know who Storm is, and doesn’t feel the need to take anything she says seriously.  Bobby isn’t taking this seriously.

I like these first hints that those in live in space know how important true power is and those who live on Earth, want to shut down this power source.

Carol wants to consider keeping the Black Vortex around, in just case.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty 6

The Slaughter Lords appear and they want their mirror back.  I adore Kitty not backing down.  Carol puts on her Captain Marvel helmet, one must always think – safety first!

Ma Savage takes a gun out and threatens to shoot them all, and Quill tries to get her to wrangle all the children back inside.

Gamora, being the smart one of the group, grabs the Black Vortex.

Black Vortex Alpha Kitty Magik 4

Kitty gives the command to keep the Slaughter Lords away from the mirror.

Look how happy X23 is!

Quill instructs Lydia to call for help.  I’m not sure who else is out there in space?  Oh, Cyclops & the Starjammers and Nova are, that makes sense.  I saw that Silver Surfer has a title now, I’m not sure why he didn’t get involved in this.  He’s the one hold out of the cosmic titles.  I guess Marvel didn’t want to force all of the cosmic readers to take part in a crossover, so Silver Surfer is there for those who don’t want a massive story to follow.

Black Vortex Alpha Magik 2

Issue ends with Gamora having been powered up by the Black Vortex and she looks awesome, now that she has a cloak and galaxy styled clothes.

Black Vortex Alpha Gamora Cosmic Change

From the checklist, this looks to be a 13 part story.

We are off to a great start with this storyline.

Big Brother 17 – Wednesday – July 8, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 9, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television, Websites. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. 1 Comment

Who won PoV?  Did they use it?  Who went up instead?  Let’s find out, get excited!

I’m really hoping John is saved by the Veto!

Jason had some fun dialogue plan to say but Steve kept undermining him.  Jason just gave up, poor guy.

Sherri is the official HoH now.  Becky looks good in her sports bra.  Anyone know where that screen grab is?

It doesn’t take Da’vonne to figure out she is the target and that John was most likely throwing it.  Which he was.  John gets hugs from Shelli and Clay, so he has proven himself.  Clay says that John will no longer be used as a pawn.  Which is a pretty great deal.

Shelli and Clay are cuddling!

Does Jason and Da’vonne’s friendship make any sense?  Audrey can overhear everything in the Have Not room.  She is super ease dropping.  Jason, James and Meg are the ones talking in the Have Not room.  It has to be weird to talk in a completely dark room.

Liz is better at puzzles than Julia.  Liz loves Da.

The houseguests live like slops.  So disgusting, all of those dirty dishes in the sink.

Picking Players for Veto!

Shelli – Houseguest Choice – Clay
John – Meg
Da’vonne – Steve!

Host is Jackie, choose by Shelli

Clay is making sure Audrey is still on their side, she is.  Thunderbuns!?!  It is better than “the Princess and Hercules” from Jason.

Da’vonne does the math, no one is going to change the nominations, except for John – who would take himself off and Da’vonne who will take herself off.

Veto Competition!  Production did not dress Jackie sexy.  Yet another movie / television theme comp.

Kathy Griffin (the plot of the game) needs her assistant to bring her something, so two houseguests will go at a time.  Five rounds.

Round One – John v Da’Vonne (he choose her, pretty smart) – he figures it out!  Super slowly – Da’vonne is out!  She is pretty much gone, unless she can get someone to use the Veto.  If John wins, he will use it and maybe a bigger threat will go up next to her.

Round Two – Steve (John chose) v Clay (who John chose) – Clay wins

Kathy Griffin provides the voiceover, so Jackie doesn’t have much to do much besides name the winner and ask who the person chooses to play next.

Round Three – Meg (Clay choose) v Shelli (Meg chose) – Meg plans on throwing it.  Shelli looks good, she likes to wear tight shirts.  Shelli chooses a microphone instead of the sombrero which Meg had ready.  So Meg wins.

Round Four – John (Meg choose) v Meg (John choose) – John wins, I love this guy.

Round Five – John v Clay – John wins!  Clay didn’t even leave the main room!   He has to use it!  Don’t be a silly goose!

Clay and Shelli scramble to try to come up with a replacement.  Clay wants Jason, to split those two up.  Shelli worries about not putting up Audrey and making Becky upset.  Becky is cool as it is blood on Shelli’s hands and Becky can win HoH again.  I will not miss Da’vonne.

James, what time is it, if they don’t put up Audrey?

Look at Vanessa trying to play the game!  So cute!  Just do what you are told, Vanessa!  Vanessa tries to explain the odds, how it has to be another woman up next to Da’vonne.

I like John’s impression of Clay.  Please USE THE VETO!  Never NOT USE the Veto!

Shelli asks Austin or Liz to be the new pawn.  It is hard not to look down Liz’s shirt!  Just wearing a simple low cut shirt, dman!  How about that screencap?  Liz agrees to be a pawn, she just needed to be safe for four more weeks!  Becky tries to calm Liz down.

So Austin’s tattoo is a giant tree?  Austin wants to keep Liz safe this week.

Look at Jeff getting himself into the issue!

Austin really wants Liz off the block, and maybe put Meg up.  He tries to recruit Vanessa.  Austin tries to make – Meg / James / Jason out to be a real threat.  I think there is a fourth person but I couldn’t tell.  When Vanessa tells Shelli, it sounded like Vanessa was going to name a fourth person but Austin walked in.

Liz in that red bikini!!!

Shelli is tempted to put up Meg.  That way the house has to vote for Da’.

Clay tells Audrey that she is safe but not trustworthy.  Audrey tries to put Clay in his place.  It is so hard to talk once one person gets offended.  Clay talks to Shelli about how Audrey is being a pain.

Veto Ceremony.  John uses it on himself, as he isn’t an idiot.

Shelli chooses . . . Meg!  Da’vonne should be going home!

Hopefully we are able to stay up Thursday night and the post will be up on Friday but it may be Saturday.  Stay tune!

Good for Shelli, getting the person she wants out.

. . .

Here are two pictures I’ve found of Jackie!
