Wolverines 7

Writer Charles Soule

Art Kris Anka

Colorist Matthew Wilson

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Cover Art Alex Garner, which looks amazing!

I didn’t realize that I was going to upload nearly the entire issue.  If there are problems with that, are there?, I will take down the non-Ogun speaking pages.  Let me know.  I’m not sure, the few websites I use to get the images from, I notice they try to limit it to eight or ten pages, which I guess is nearly half the issue – which seems like a fair limit.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 1

The Oort Cloud.  465 Billion Miles from Earth, a comet is coming.

The Changeling.  Five Miles Above Finland.  Mystique is still in a huge blue Hulk like form, she is blocking everyone’s attempt to jump off the plane.  Lady Deathstrike points out that they all know that because she is in a larger form, it isn’t like she is that much stronger.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 2

Mystique was only doing that for dramatic effect.  X23 refers to Wolverine’s body as a statue, so now I feel like – if Soule is happy with that term, I am too.  I only worried that it was implying (for anyone that wasn’t reading along) that someone made a Wolverine statue as oppose to Wolverine being an adamantium statue.

X23 stating that they lost the statue to the X-Men is odd, as she is one of the X-Men.  She isn’t sure why they are going to stick around with the Weapon X Program rejects much less these fellow villains.

Shogun reminds her that the rejects still know the codewords.  They no longer have Wolverine but Shogun still wants to use the Wolverines’ healing factor to cure the Paradise folks’ death clock.

Sabretooth isn’t going to tolerate much more of Shogun’s nonsense.  Of the Paradise folks, only Shogun and Junk are still around.  Shogun can hold his own but Junk is way out of his league.

Mystique claims the leadership role of the team, she defeated the Wrecking Crew – which must have happened in the second issue, which I don’t own.  For some reason, Mystique shifts her head into the head of Cobra Commander.  Lady Deathstrike states that is the head of her father, but I’m not sure how she pieced that together.

Mystique shifts into Angel, to taunt X23.  Mystique knows that those two had sex, but I get the impression that relationship was more of a one night stand type of situation.  Mystique takes it as far as to put the thought in X23’s head that the next time she had sex with Angel, it may be Mystique.  Proving that she can always go farther, she tells X23 that she may take her form and have sex with Warren, doing all of the things he is too afraid to ask her to do.  Further salt on the wound, she hints that she knows X23’s sexual past.  Marvel really isn’t going to let X23’s prostitution disappear.

Mystique promises everyone’s heart’s desire, if they stick with her.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 3

Junk is trying to get along with Shogun.  Junk is still on the plane as he never left it, which I don’t even think I noticed.  He was taking care of Daken.

Shogun brings up the excellent point, Mystique should kill these two, while they sleep, and have two less worries in the world.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 4

Daken interrupts the conversation to tell Shogun that Mystique wants to talk to him.

If I had my arm and eye rip off, I will be pretty depressed.

Shogun tells Junk about how much Neuro messed up, and that Lady Deathstrike wants to kill all of these Paradise fools.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 5

Passing Neptune.  2.8 Billin Miles From Earth.  This comet better be awesome.

Mystique needs Shogun’s skills.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 1

The first page where we get Ogun’s voice!

Skel and Neuro are working for Sinister, if he is smart, he has those two dead already.  Shogun is surprised about Mystique’s gentleness.  Betrayal is common in this line of work.

Mystique tells Shogun that Lady Deathstrike may be attracted to him.  She wants him dead but wants to have her fun too.  Ogun warns Sharp that Mystique is manipulating him, he claims he knows but we all know he is going to be manipulated so much.

Mystique wants him to steal the Zhulong (Sun Dragon) from the National Museum in Taipei.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 2

Taipei.  Ogun is fully supporting Sharp in this en devour as he wants to fight all night long.

How confident is Sharp’s “Hey!” that is a baller move!

An old military man is looking at the sword and he is killed by a younger man.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 3

Shogun gets so caught up in the fight, he starts to slice dudes in half.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 6

Mystique shouts at Shogun and he comes a running.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 4

As they are waiting for the plane, Mystique wants to discuss her Erase word.  Betrayal is quite common in this business.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 5

After negotiating, Shogun states Mystique’s Erase word – melanistic.

250 Thousand Miles From Earth.  The comet keeps on coming.

Uotsuri Island.  50 Miles Northwest of Taiwan.  Mystique is looking over her check list.

  • Neuro, Skel, Endo with Sinister
  • No one can trust Creed
  • Retrieve the Dragon
  • Deathstrike and Shogun
  • Prepare the Portal

The last one is not checked yet.  She starts a holo-simulation, that looks like it is on a cassette tape.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 6

In a private moment, Ogun tries to get Sharp to join Sinister, as he may be able to cure their mutual decaying issue.

Lady Deathstrike enters the room and Ogun would like to take advantage of her attraction while Sharp seems to be a tad scared of her.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 7

One of the cool things about the character of Destiny, is that she is a writer’s character.  She knows the future, so a great writer can use her to set up what is to come and pull everything off in a very compelling way.  Here is hoping that Soule can do that.

Destiny, apparently, made a slew of tapes as well as her diaries – which I may be one of the last hundred or so who still remembers those.  Wolverine’s death kick started a sequence of events.  Now that Mystique has the Dragon, things will move quickly.  Destiny wants to be restored to life and she loves Mystique.

Ogun takes control over Sharp’s body and counters Lady Deathstrike’s move.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 7

They kiss and Shogun’s silly mask is so sharp, that it cuts into Lady Deathstrike’s face.  No one ever worries about kiss-ability when developing a mask.

That is nice that Destiny always loved Mystique and that she can now say that in a modern comic instead of having it be hinted years after her death.

Wolverines 7 Ogun 8

Mystique cries and Lady Deathstrike is amused as something hits the plane.  Most likely, the comet.

Wolverines 7 Shogun 8

It isn’t a comet but some dude in a Wolverine mask, if it was made for a baby.  I guess we will find out in a week, as Marvel Database doesn’t take a guess at who this is.  Who does Wolverine know, in space, that would call him his best friend.  Well, Wolverine is his best friend, I doubt Wolverine would consider him his.

Big Brother 17 – Wednesday – July 22, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 23, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television, Websites. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. 2 Comments

Who wins Veto?  Will they use it?  Who goes up, in that case?  Let’s get excited!

Episode 13, apparently a big fight occurs and the Whack Street Boys will be featured!  John, James and Liz are the Whack Street Boys.  Of course, the big fight deals with Audrey.

Day 30!  They reveal it right after the opening sequence.

Shelli is the sole HoH.  James and John are still nominated and will be playing in Veto.

Becky shares her concerns with John, I like her being worried about him.

Audrey makes the mistake of telling James that they will split up Clay and Shelli.  James gets the good idea to tell this to Clay and Shelli.  This may reunite the entire house!  Clay confronts Audrey, and her reasonings are not great.  Audrey talking with a blanket over her face, so irritating!  I couldn’t carry a conversation with someone like that.  I imagine she did it so that she wouldn’t be seen crying.

The Whack Street Boys are so much fun!  Liz-ness, J-Son and Mac-Attack!  They have to put on a show.  So adoreable!  They learn moves and everything!  Jason didn’t get a hat.

Veto Players!

Shelli – Vanessa
John – Meg
Jason – Houseguest Choice – James

Shelli chose Stevie-B for the host!  YAY Steve!

Shelli really seems torn up about sending Audrey home, everyone is so scared of being Anti-Transgender, which I’m not sure if what they would be.  Clay tells her that he has no problem doing it.

Veto Comp!  Steve is dressed as a scientist!  Save by the Bell reference!  Saved by the Smell.

Austin wants to be mean Steve, boooo!  Steve does the classic Zach Morris Time Out!

They have to  see a sequence of four colors and put those vitals in a bottle and move on to the next round.

Round One – Purple – Booyah Berry – Everybody moves on

Round Two – Still Pill Hine – Yellow – James is out and gets a giant explosion to the face!

Round Three – Banging Kiwi – Green – Shelli throws it, the explosion causes debris to hit the audience

Round Four – Peach, Psych – Blue & White – Meg is out

Round Five – Trippin’ Tea – Red – John and Jason are out!

VANESSA WINS!  She has like intense brown eyes!

Still no giant fight, fourteen minutes left

John cracks me up in his Diary Room session.

This show needs a laugh track

Whack Street Boys, with even more moves!  I may be one of their groupies!  Do they get to keep the outfits?

Production knew they were either going to have Liz / Shelli & Jackie, I wonder why they went with that name.  For the joke, I suppose?

They have like maybe six moves each.  The attendance for the shows keeps dropping.  Jackie is their only true fan.

Audrey tries to talk to Austin and Clay.  She ruins the boys’ good time.  Audrey can’t recall what words she uses, which is one of her big time problems, in the house.  Audrey’s big move is to try to make the other people seem crazy – but people at home, have to see the truth.  She be crazy!  Clay goes up to the HoH room, to talk with Shelli and Vanessa.  for some insane reason, Audrey thinks it is a good idea to break up this conversation, as quickly as Clay walks in.

Shelli wearing sunglasses, in the HoH room, is an odd choice.  Audrey’s lack of trust in Shelli is hurtful to her.  Audrey tries to make it seem like Clay has deep seeded issues, which is – really – her only card she has in her back pocket.  I wish we were getting this scene intercutted with Vanessa’s DR sessions.  Vanessa looks so dumbfounded.

Quit swearing on your life!  Such a great line as that is Audrey’s go to line.  I do like Vanessa.

My wife, before the episode came on, told me how Audrey was in DR for like five hours and puts herself into the Have Not room, for another hour.  So she isn’t at the Veto meeting and Vanessa has to point that out.

This is the first time the nominees have had to make their speech!  Jason takes it seriously and asks to be saved.  John points out that his favorite Vetos are when they are used on him.  Shoot, Vanessa used it on Jason!  OH NOES!

Shelli nominates . . . AUDREY!!!  Which seems super awkward as she will have to be told later.

John knows that he has to just lay low and practice with his band mates.

So what will Production do when they do the slow motion PoV ceremony sequence?  It is going to look pretty awkward.

Apparently, Audrey outed the Sixth Sense alliance, so look forward to that on Thursday’s episode.

Pretty good episode, for the most part.  This show will get better once Audrey is gone.  Sort of like a nice reboot.

Because Becky was kind to John, here is a picture of her –

Marvel Age 93

Cover Dated October 1990

I figured out what happened.  I wanted to buy Marvel Age 39 because of this :

http://uncannyxmen.net/secrets-behind-the-x-men/homesick-colossus

But must have had the numbers transposed.  I was going to just take the issue out of my collection and try to sell it through Lonestar Comics but then I saw the 1982 Feature.

Marvel Age 93 Kitty 1982

Funny how it is a blue version of the green outfit Kitty wears on the cover of Uncanny X-Men Annual 6.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 6

Art by Bill Sienkiewicz

So I guess I’ll just keep it.

1982 was a rough time for super teams.  That was the year the X-Men fought (and almost lost to) the Brood.  Later they had to fight Dracula, hence the image.

The Avengers, Pym was framed by Egghead and was getting a divorce from Wasp.

Fantastic Four, Human Torch breaks up with Lady Nova as she becomes Galactus’ new Herald.

Doctor Strange fought with Baron Mondo.

There is an extensive Avengers feature in the issue, hence the cover.  Roy Thomas was taking over West Coast Avengers and Larry Hama (of Wolverine and GI Joe fame) took over Avengers, which I didn’t even know he had a run on the title.  That is what is up with the cover.  Hama wrote Avengers 326 through 333.  Thomas wrote Avengers West Coast 60 through 101.

Since we are celebrating Hank Pym month here at S&FwM :

Marvel Age 93 Hembeck Lil Avengers

Fred Hembeck provides a would be Lil Avengers title.

September 1990 Birthdays / Back Cover

I did not know that Chris Eliopoulos co-wrote these back cover Birthdays, that’s pretty cool!

Writers Chris Eliopoulos and Barry Dutter
Artist Ron Zalme
Colorist Marie Javins

I gave Chris Eliopoulos a shoutout when I read this issue back on November 13, 2014 (when I’m typing this – a tad ahead of the schedule) and he mention how long ago.  I didn’t realize how long it was until I typed “May 1990” above for the Top Ten.  14 years ago.

@ChrisEliopoulos I had no idea you co-wrote those Marvel Age calendar bits! At least, you did issue 93's. Those are the best!

— John Klein III (@JackalsIII) November 13, 2014

He acts like it wasn’t a big deal for him to correspond with me but it totally was, to me.

I’m pretty sure I haven’t noticed if there are credits

Jesus “Whitey” Gonzalez’s birthday was last month

September 2, Walt Simonson
September 3, Michelle Gagnon, VP International Licensing
September 4, Kevin Lopez, Letterer
September 5, Sholly Fisch
September 6, Mike Zeck

September 13, Assistant Editor Gary Barnum
September 14, Letterer Jim Novak
September 16, Direct Sales Project Manager Kurt Busiek (amazing!) and Inker Keith Williams
September 17, Danny Fingeroth
September 23, Peter David
September 25, Assistant Production Manager Dawn Geiger
September 26, Louise Simonson
September 27, Colorist Bob Sharen
September 30 – Chris Eliopolous, which is what made me notice the credits – trying to figure out who this ‘Chris’ was.   Also Colorist Ken Feduniwicz’s Birthday.

Big Brother 17 – Sunday – July 19, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 20, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. Leave a comment

Who will Liz and Shelli nominate?  Who wins the Battle of the Block?  Let’s find out!

That’s right, it is 90s week!  Grudge inspired Battle of the Block is coming up.

Watching season three, and Eric was just evicted but they are about to have their first ‘returning’ house guest but I’m mostly surprised by the fact that PoV was set up so differently.  If you won it, and on the block, you couldn’t use it on yourself.  I’m curious when that rule changes, I imagine mid-season.

Sixth Sense is in charge!

Production seems to be keeping Audrey as a main character, though it seems like the house (and me) have moved on.

Liz, not Julia, won HoH.

Austin is cautious to who the fourth vote was, he doesn’t know it was Liz.  Liz was keeping her friend in the house, so she voted for James.

I like how Austin credits Steve’s making music for a living, as a contribute to how he is super smart.  Poor Steve, is narrating to himself – but whispering about how he is getting a reputation for throwing comps.  Surprised Production didn’t edit John’s segment, after that.

James is realizing that he is on his own.  Audrey is being kept out of several loops, like the whole twin subplot.

Shelli and Clay are having a moment.  They discuss who the fourth vote had to be.

Joint HoH room!  I like Liz in that dark green shirt.  Shelli cries over seeing a picture of her dog.  Good Grief!  Liz’s dog wrote her letter!  oh dear.  Liz’s mother wrote her letter.  Johnny Mac has some great observations – like how her letter wasn’t full of sentiment and that her childhood pictures

Shelli sings, Jason / Audrey / Meg do a performance.  A nice little musical number!  Has to be original, to make it onto the show.

Jason, Meg and James – once again are the targets for the week, as they want to keep Liz safe as, after next week, Julia can officially join the show.  They are still trying to keep Audrey around, as she is a big target.

Steve gets some screen time!  He doesn’t know how to work an ironing board.  It is hard to do, ya’ll!

Austin checks in on Jackie, Production making sure everyone gets some television time, this episode.  He pretends that he doesn’t know what the plan is.  Jackie is a free agent.  Shelli also checks in with Jackie.  Shelli then checks in with Vanessa and warns her about Austin.  Shelli wants to start keeping Austin in the dark, he screwed up badly not letting the team know about his conversation with Jackie.

Shelli is worried about Austin running Liz’s game, unlike what Clay will be doing with her own HoH reign.

Quit putting Johnny Mac up!  Cripes!  He’s been nominated four times, already.  His alliance is starting to see that he is never the target.

I keep forgetting to see what Day of the game it is!  They use to put it on the screen, maybe I’m missing it at the beginning as, during the recap, I’m getting the initial post ready.

Audrey is telling Shelli that Jason has been throwing Shelli’s name out there as a nominee, if he were to ever win HoH.

I already forgot that Jason has won HoH.

Did Shelli and Liz plan on wearing blue shirts!?!

Nominations!

Liz – James & Jackie
Shelli – Jason (target) & John

So the plan is for Shelli’s team to lose Battle of the Block.  There has been four BotBs and John has competed in every single one.

Liz is offended by Jackie’s quick game talk.  They are not friends!

Jason throws Audrey under the bus, to Shelli.  Shelli now doesn’t want Audrey around, poor Shelli, whoever talks to her last, she trusts.

Switch # 11, Austin is sad that Julia is back in the house.

Why would Jason, Meg and James game talk WITH AUDREY IN THE ROOM!?!  Audrey gets up and instantly goes straight to Shelli.  Shelli confronts Audrey about her lies, as they did not tell Audrey about Jason being a target.  Why is Audrey so crazy, in the head?  It is like she is making the same big mistakes she did in the first week, now in week four.  Now Audrey is crying as Jason is going to be gunning for her, which everyone really should be.  Audrey is crazy but she isn’t turning the house upside down crazy or ruin everyone’s good time crazy.  She is getting there, though.

Battle of the Block Comp!  Clay is the host.  Grunge theme, I’m a huge Soul Asylum fan but I wouldn’t consider them grudge.

Four bands of the 90s – Soundgarden / Smashing Pumpkins / Pearl Jam.  I’m not sure who “Screaming Trees” are.

There will be a punishment for the losing team and the dethroned HoH, that will last a week.

I like John wanting to win the comp!  Who wants to be punished!?!

They have to save Alice (in chains) and take her to Nirvana, get it?

John’s three keys to James’ one key.  3-2.  3-3.  Both teams are at the Smashing Pumpkins.  Mosh Pit.  Jackie gets the key!  So does Jason!  There is a foot race!  Jackie and James win!

Liz, John and Jason have a punishment, coming up.  They are joining a boy band – Whack Street Boys – there will be a musical cue and they have to dance.  John has to play up that he was throwing it, up to the end.

. . .

Here are the ladies of BB17, enjoying some outside time

Big Brother 17 – Thursday – July 16, 2015

Who went home?  Who are the new HoH?  Get excited!

There is apparently a love triangle with Jeff / Julia – Liz / Austin, which seems silly to be upset by.  Though Austin has been proven to be unable to tell the two apart.

BUT FIRST!

James knows that Jeff should be the larger target, and I wouldn’t miss Jeff – at all.  Hey, Jackie got on the show!

Jeff would like to get Austin and Liz’s vote.  He also tries to get Shelli’s vote.

Liz likes Steve, and so do I!

Jeff tries, desperately, hard to try to cuddle with Liz.  So creepy!

Austin crushing on Liz, so hard!  You two are not a couple, she can do whatever she wants.  jeez

Live Vote!

James thinks Meg is a smokebomb.

Jeff wasted his time with shoutouts.

The Voting –

Jackie – James, makes sense
Austin/Judas – Jeff
John – James
Meg – Jeff
Commercial Break!
Clay – Jeff
Shelli – Jeff
Steve – James
Liz – James
Jason – Jeff
Becky – Jeff
Six votes, Jeff is out
Audrey – Jeff

7 -4, the house seemed pretty divided, mostly due to no real direction – I imagine.

Jeff’s interview with Julie was okay.  Julie mention how Jackie is floating.

HoH Comp!

It is a Quiz competition.  90s week!  My favorite decade, for music!  Bustin’ Moves.  True or False, after they watch a dance video.

whoa, the kidd and play move!  Live dancers even.

Question 1 – total of eight dancers?  False.  Jason – James – Steve – Clay, are all out.  There was 7.
Question 2 – three were men?  True.  Austin – Meg, are out
Question 3 – Orange shirt placed boombox on the floor?  False – Liz and Shelli won, everyone else is out!

So great!  Shelli’s second HoH and Liz and Julia should be safe and both should be in the house, next week.

Michelle Pfeiffer Referenced Songs

Posted by John Klein III on July 18, 2015
Posted in: Fun With YouTube, Songs. Tagged: Music, YouTube. Leave a comment

The always amazing, Michelle Pfeiffer, is referenced in two songs – though she ought to be in more!

Vance Joy’s Riptide

Thanks to LiberationMusicAus for hosting the video!

I really like how this song is essentially just all of the lyrics, brought to live.

“I swear she’s destined for the screen, Closest thing to Michelle Pfeiffer that you’ve ever seen”

The other song is :

Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk

Thanks to MarkRonsonVEVO for hosting this video!

I’m not a huge Bruno Mars fan, the radio overplays him.  I was thinking about how he was due for another single but now that he has a shared one, with Mark Ronson, I’m already over this song.  But I do like hearing Michelle Pfeiffer’s name being sung.

“That ice cold, Michelle Pfeiffer, That white gold”

I mean, seriously, after her star making performance in Grease 2 and the way she performed Cool Rider, she deserves to be immortalized in song.

Thanks to YouTuber videomolly for hosting this video!

Marvel October 2015 Solicitations

Posted by John Klein III on July 17, 2015
Posted in: Solicitations. Tagged: Adams - Art, Newsarama, Ramos - Humberto, Solicitations. Leave a comment

http://www.newsarama.com/25221-marvel-comics-october-2015-solicitations.html

I’m probably going to cover more titles, than I usually do as Marvel is starting their big relaunch of new number ones. Spoilers, I’m still not getting that many of them, but a few more than I had thought.

INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #1 & 2
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (w) • DAVID MARQUEZ (a)
Exploding out of the pages of SECRET WARS, one of the most popular super heroes in the world gets a gigantic new series. From the creators that brought you ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN comes new armor, new supporting cast, new villains and a new purpose that is going to tear itself across the entire Marvel Universe and beyond. With a shocker of a last page that will have everyone talking and the return of one of Tony’s biggest nemeses, you will not want to miss this!! Also, who are Tony’s biological parents? The quest begins here!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T+ …$3.99 (each)

I’m really surprised that they lead with Iron Man 1 & 2 instead of Secret Wars 8, but I can see where Marvel (or Newsarama – but I imagine Newsarama just copies and pastes the information) is in an awkward spot of wanting to promote the ending of their big event and the relaunch of well over 50 titles. Just goes to show how big of a deal Bendis on Iron Man is going to be. Which I’m still passing on.

 SECRET WARS #8 (OF 8)
JONATHAN HICKMAN (w) • ESAD RIBIC (a)
Cover by ALEX ROSS
GENESIS!
56 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99
*CHECK FUTURE MARVEL MAILERS FOR SECRET WARS INFINITY STONES PROMO ITEM ORDERING DETAILS.

I wouldn’t mind an Infinity Stone promo item but since Hastings still has like 60 Battleworld Maps, I can see that store not getting additional items. They never did get the free Marvel Preview book.

SIEGE #4
KIERON GILLEN (w)
FILIPE ANDRADE (a)
Cover by W. SCOTT FORBES
THE LAST STAND OF THE SHIELD!
• Well, THAT certainly doesn’t sound ominous…
• Hey look, THANOS is here! That’s always a good sign! Just kidding, of course, that’s terrible news and everything is darkness.
• The biggest battle conceivable. Heroes rise. Legends fall. No one lives forever. THIS IS THE SHIELD!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

I just read that Siege 1 has a reference to Illyana, so I’m hoping that she shows up a couple times in this series.

INFINITY GAUNTLET #5
GERRY DUGGAN & DUSTIN WEAVER (W)
DUSTIN WEAVER (a/C)
• The Infinity Stones are assembled and all of Battleworld is in danger.
• Can the Nova family possibly out-flank Thanos?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

This has to spell into Secret Wars 8, right? Since Thanos was in the Ultimate Liferaft, I can only imagine there isn’t more than one Thanos, but I’m probably not right about that.

AGE OF APOCALYPSE #5
FABIAN NICIEZA (w) • IBAN COELLO (a)
Cover by GERARDO SANDOVAL
• The philosophy of Apocalypse has always been “let the fittest survive,” but by its ultimate extension, that would only leave one person standing! As mutants fall from the shocking release of a devastating plague, who will live and who will die? And if Apocalypse falls, who will rule in his place…?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
*SECRET WARS SERIES

Shadowcat wasn’t in the first issue so who knows if I’m getting any of these.

GROOT #5
JEFF LOVENESS (w)
BRIAN KESINGER (a)
Cover by DECLAN SHALVEY
• You didn’t think we were going to tell the story of one of Groot’s adventures without bringing BABY GROOT into the fray, did you?
• With his goal of reuniting with his best friend (and interpreter) Rocket Raccoon within reach, Groot’s only got a ship full of mercenaries to contend with. Should be a piece of cake, right?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Issue two was pretty nice, might have to keep reading this in the store.

DEADPOOL VS. THANOS #3 & 4 (of 4)
TIM SEELEY (w) • ELMO BONDOC (a)
Cover by TRADD MOORE
ISSUE #3 & 4 VARIANT COVER BY RON LIM
• Let me check the Marvel Wiki. Hang on…
• OK…Deadpool is a guy with guns and swords…
• Thanos is an Eternal with strength, endurance, agility, and nearly invulnerable skin, who can shoot cosmic energy from his eyes and hands.
• Sounds like a fair fight!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

That’s a fun write up. The whole Thanos’ jealousy of Deaths’ attraction to Deadpool, is a subplot that I’m glad people are not forgetting.

ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT MARVEL POINT ONE #1
AL EWING, CHARLES SOULE, SKOTTIE YOUNG, GERRY CONWAY, MARC GUGGENHEIM (W)
FELIPE ANDRADE, RON GARNEY, PACO MEDINA, GERMAN PERALTA, MIKE PERKINS, STEFANO CASELLI (A)
Cover by MIKE DEL MUNDO
In the aftermath of SECRET WARS, it’s an All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, and this is your one-stop entry point to the changes and mysteries that have developed during the eight months that have passed! Featuring new stories of DAREDEVIL, CARNAGE, CLASSFIED, CLASSIFIED, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS!
56 PGS./ One-Shot/Rated T+ …$5.99

I am super curious about the events that take place during the eight month jump from Secret Wars 2015 8 and the new number ones. I figured there would be a big name creative team doing that official answer but I’ll order this and see what is up.

AVENGERS #0
MARK WAID, JAMES ROBINSON, G. WILLOW WILSON, AL EWING, GERRY DUGGAN (W)
MAHMUD ASRAR, LEONARD KIRK, GERARDO SANDOVAL, KENNETH ROCAFORT,
RYAN STEGMAN, VICTOR IBANEZ (A)
Cover by KENNETH ROCAFORT
The kickoff to the All-New AVENGERS line begins here, with new stories of the ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS, SQUADRON SUPREME, A-FORCE, NEW AVENGERS, ULTIMATES and UNCANNY AVENGERS! Someone is carefully studying the movements of the Avengers and those in their orbit—but do they mean to harm, or help? Find out the first clues in this special launch issue!
56 PGS./Rated T+ …$5.99

I like the idea of having the Avengers family of titles being in sync with each other. I’m surprise that Squadron Supreme is under that title. Ultimates, seems like an odd name to attach to that title (get to that later) as that will probably be the lowest selling series to carry that name. I have issues with, New Avengers, as well.  Actually, Ultimates, doesn’t come out until November, but it is just Mighty Avengers rebranded.  Like the different title is going to fool anybody.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 & 2
DAN SLOTT (w) • GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI (a)
THE WORLD’S GREATEST SUPER HERO!
Spider-Man has gone global! Parker Industries is more successful than ever, with offices in New York, Shanghai, London and San Francisco and Peter Parker is racking up the frequent flyer miles with his “bodyguard” Spider-Man in tow, of course. But success breeds enemies and a reinvigorated Zodiac have also widened their scope to threaten the whole world. Join Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli as they take Spider-Man to the next level! This huge first issue also includes stories featuring Silk, Spidey 2099, Spider-Woman and much more!
ISSUE #1 – 72 PGS./Rated T…$5.99
Issue #2 – 32 PGS/RATED T…$3.99

So people keep complaining that they are Tony Starking Peter Parker but I’m curious how this unfolds as Superior Spider-Man was awesome. But I’m also not buying this, so what do I know.

 ANGELA: QUEEN OF HEL #1
MARGUERITE BENNETT (w)
KIM JACINTO and STEPHANIE HANS (a)
COVER BY JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
HEL HATH A NEW FURY.
Stolen from ASGARD, exiled from HEVEN, and robbed of SERA, her greatest companion – ANGELA plunges into the depths of blackest HEL to save her friend…and once there, the lost princess of Asgard will carve out a realm of her very own. All hail ANGELA, THE NEW QUEEN OF HEL!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

This looks to be a tad more serious than Angela’s last series – prior to Secret Wars 2015. Those write ups were fun. I’ll be passing on this series.

BLADE #1
TIM SEELEY (W) • Logan Faerber (a)
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Good for Blade for having a daughter, but it takes more than that to get me to buy a Blade series.

THE ASTONISHING ANT-MAN #1
Nick Spencer (w) • Ramon Rosanas (a)
Scott Lang was a down-on-his-luck, divorced ex-con — until he stole renowned scientist and super hero Hank Pym’s size-altering technology in the hopes of saving his daughter’s life. Through that act of doing wrong for the right reasons, Scott inadvertently learned how to be a hero himself. With Pym’s blessing and his daughter Cassie at his side, he became… The Astonishing Ant-Man! But when a curveball upends Scott’s life, will he continue to be a hero, or will he return to his former life of crime?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Nice that Marvel is still promoting Ant-Man, even after the film’s release. I suppose they have to get new trades out there when the BluRay comes out.

 CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1
AL EWING (w)
PACO MEDINA (a/C)
Welcome to the BATTLEREALM–a broken section of space-time where cosmic beings gamble for the ultimate power while their unwilling pawns fight for their lives and a chance to return back to Earth. Who will survive… THE CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS?
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

This looks like it has a fun open door policy to allowing a slew of characters to appear. I’ll have to add it to make sure I don’t miss anyone.

DOCTOR STRANGE #1
JASON AARON (w)
CHRIS BACHALO (a/C)

Who do you call when things are coming out of your dreams and trying to kill you? Or when your daughter is cursing in Latin and walking like a spider? Or when your dog keeps screaming at you to strangle your neighbors? Doctor Strange, of course. He’s the only person standing between us and the forces of darkness, but has he been paying his tab? Every act of magic has a cost and Jason Aaron (THOR, ORIGINAL SIN) and Chris Bachalo (UNCANNY X-MEN) are going to put Stephen Strange through hell to even the scales.
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

Nice that Doctor Strange is getting a new ongoing, and it is a great creative team but I’ll be passing.

Together, these EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN will struggle with the familiar burden of being hated and feared, while facing threats the likes of which they’ve never seen. Here’s hoping they survive the experience!
Issue #1 – 40 PGS./RATED T+…$4.99
Issue #2 – 32 PGS./RATED T+…$3.99

I’m so jazzed about this new series! Extraordinary X-Men promises to be the flagship title and Magik being on the main team, is awesome! I wonder what the cosplay variants are going to be like? One character dressing as another character?

Marvel October 2015 Solicitations Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Art Adams cover

THE RACCOON’S IN CHARGE!
Peter Quill has abandoned the Guardians and his role as Star-Lord to be Emperor of the Spartax. Rocket didn’t wait a single minute to take the reins and become team leader of Drax, Venom, Groot, Kitty Pryde (A.K.A. Star-Lady ?!?!) and new Guardian BEN GRIMM, the ever-loving THING! 32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

We got confirmation that Star-Lady is Kitty Pryde! So awesome that Bendis is keeping her under his pen. I wish the name was more like Star-Kat or something. ShadowLass is taken by DC’s Phantom Girl but that would have worked too. I guess whenenver Guardians show up now, in a solict, I have to keep track of that now. I wonder if Marvel is going to quietly promote that this title has two Jews on the team (Kitty Pryde and Thing) which I believe is a record number. It is, at least, noteworthy for having Marvel’s two biggest characters of that religion, on the same time. I’m pretty excited about reading Thing on a monthly basis. Plus, Thing is pants! I’m always a fan of that. I’m also happy the action figure variants are sticking around. I imagine that Quill will still appear in the series, from time to time but as long as Kitty is on the main team, we really don’t have to visit him. I’m really hoping with how Lockheed has been in three series, during Secret Wars 2015, that someone remembers to bring him along in a new series. He would be perfect on this time and make him an official member too! Do it!

WHAT IF? INFINITY – THANOS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • MIKE HENDERSON (a)
Cover by TOM WHALEN
Variant Cover by KRIS ANKA
What if Thanos joined the Avengers?
• Thanos made a deal with the Avengers to use his army to protect Earth from the invading forces, but it came with a cost…
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – INHUMANS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • RILEY ROSSMO (a)
Cover by CHRISTIAN WARD
What if the INHUMANS took over Earth?
• BLACK BOLT is the new supreme ruler of Earth, but what happened to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – AVENGERS #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON(w)
MIKE NORTON (a)
Cover by MATT FERGUSON
What if the AVENGERS lost the war?
• Years after the fall of Earth, CANNONBALL leads a small team of surviving mutants in the deepest parts of space looking for shelter. Eventually they meet up with a few surviving Avengers who had go to great and scary lengths to survive…
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON(w)
JASON COPLAND (a)
Cover by DAVE RAPOZA
What if the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY found out the ILLUMINATI were hiding Thanos?
• Thanos is the most wanted man in the universe and for years he was secretly being held by the Illuminati. The Guardians of the Galaxy just found out and they are ****** off.
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

WHAT IF? INFINITY – DARK REIGN #1
JOSHUA WILLIAMSON (w) • GORAN SUDZUKA (a)
Cover by JAMES FLAMES
What if NORMAN OSBORN had the INFINITY GAUNTLET?!
• DARK REIGN returns as the GREEN GOBLIN gets his hands on the most dangerous item in the Marvel Universe! No one is safe!
32 PGS./ONE SHOT/Rated T+ …$3.99

As much as I’m a huge fan of the What If concept, was Infinity that much of a beloved crossover that people want to revisit it? I imagine the thought process was that Secret Wars 2015 was too much of a What If but Marvel wants to still sell a trade of Hickman’s so they went with his previous crossover. The first two issues were okay but that’s all I read. The Only one I’m interested in is the Avengers one, as it features Cannonball and a small team of mutants. Could this be a nice New Mutants reunion? I imagine, if it was, that it would be promoted as such. Kitty wasn’t even thought to be part of the Guardians, or had met them by that point (if my memory serves correctly) so she shouldn’t be in that series at all. I do like the Dark Reign remembrance and Norman Osborn with the Infinity Gauntlet should be a very interesting story concept.

HOWLING COMMANDOS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. #1
FRANK BARBIERE (w) • BRENT SCHOONOVER (a/C)
Hidden deep beneath AREA 13 lies the clandestine headquarters of S.T.A.K.E.–a top secret division of S.H.I.E.L.D. housing aliens, mythical beasts, and all manner of extra-normal entities. Under the command of legendary soldier DUM DUM DUGAN, these monsters step out of the shadows and defend the world against supernatural threats too dangerous for normal men as THE ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT HOWLING COMMANDOS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Man-Thing! The concept is awesome but I’m going to have to pass.

KARNAK #1
WARREN ELLIS (w) • GERARDO ZAFFINO (a)
Cover by DAVID AJA
THE FLAW IN ALL THINGS
“My curse is that I see the flaw in all things. Systems. Philosophies. Structures. People. Everything. Never forget who I am. I am Karnak of the Inhumans.” You may not know who Karnak is now, but you will when Warren Ellis (MOON KNIGHT, Planetary) and Gerardo Zaffino are done with you. Phil Coulson goes to Karnak to help with a SHIELD case with Inhuman implications and what he’s going to find will terrify you.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Marvel’s desire for the Inhumans to be super important, Karnak, and his power to see every flaw, was pretty awesome in Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee’s incredible Inhumans series (that I still want to own that motion comic, one day) but I’m not sure how long an ongoing of his can last. I know Marvel stated that their new philosophy was to treat ongoings like television series seasons, and have set 12 issue stories. Which isn’t horrible but that means that if you don’t like one issue, you are not coming back for a full year. Pass.

NEW AVENGERS #1 & 2
AL EWING (w) • GERARDO SANDOVAL (a/C)
EVERYTHING IS NEW. In the wake of SECRET WARS, the old order changeth – and Bobby DaCosta, Sunspot, is just the man to changeth it. Welcome to AVENGERS IDEA MECHANICS – a super-scientific global rescue squad of tomorrow’s heroes… today! America doesn’t want them! S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t know what to do with them! But Earth might not survive without… the NEW AVENGERS!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T+ …$3.99 (each)

Shouldn’t this series just be titled, Avengers Idea Mechanics? Why have an in-title name for the team but brand it an already well used name? Will this team change focus after a few issues? Ultimate Reed Richards being the other hold over from the Ultimate Universe, seems interesting. Now we have proper Human Torch (in Inhumans), Thing (in Guardians of the Galaxy) and now Ultimate Reed Richards is accounted for. Where is the proper Reed and Sue? I’m passing on this.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: SAM WILSON #1 & 2
NICK SPENCER (w) • DANIEL ACUñA (a/C)
When Steve Rogers was restored to his natural age, he chose one of his closest and most trusted allies to take up his shield. Now Sam Wilson, formerly the Avenger known as Falcon, carries on the fight for liberty and justice as the all-new, all-different Captain America!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

I like FalCap sticking around but I’m still passing on this.

 SPIDER-GWEN #1
JASON LATOUR (w) • ROBBI RODRIGUEZ (a/C)
BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!
Gwen Stacy is back in the webs and has an all-new, all-different mystery to solve: the reappearance of The Lizard! Spider-Woman was convinced that the Lizard died in her arms along with Peter Parker. But when a similar monster goes on a reptilian rampage, she’s left with doubts not only about Peter’s life, but his death as well. And witness the debut of the Osborns of Earth-65! Fan-favorite creators Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez & Rico Renzi are back for more with a story that every Spider-Fan will be talking about!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

I still haven’t read an appearance of Spider-Gwen and I don’t see that changing, anytime soon. Does this series, and the previous one, take place in her universe? That might explain why I haven’t seen her in anything. Pass.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 & 2
PETER DAVID (w) • WILL SLINEY (a)
2099 IN YOUR CALENDARS, #1 IN YOUR HEARTS.
With a job at PARKER INDUSTRIES, a stable relationship, and uncertain of what impact his actions will have on the future, Miguel O’Hara has decided that it’s time to hang up the webs and retire from being Spider-Man. But when a dangerous new threat appears and puts his new life in jeopardy, he’s got no choice but to don some new threads and tackle the problem the only way he knows how: head on! By the webslinging wonders Peter David and Will Sliney (you know ‘em, you love ‘em.) this is one EXPLOSIVE Spider-Title you won’t want to miss.
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)

So is Miguel still in the present day? That new costume is going to get getting use to, but since I won’t see it outside of solicts, I doubt I will get the opportunity. Pass.

THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #1
RYAN NORTH (w) • ERICA HENDERSON (a/C)
NEW SERIES. NEW AVENGER(!). STILL EATS NUTS AND KICKS BUTTS!
Galactus. Thanos. M.O.D.O.K. With her unique combination of wit, empathy, and totally kick-butt squirrel powers, Doreen Green — aka The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl — has taken ALL these chumps down! Alongside her friends Tippy-Toe (a squirrel) and Nancy (a regular human with no powers whatsoever — they checked), Squirrel Girl is all that stands between the Earth and total destruction! Sometimes. Other times there’s no threats and she’s just a regular computer science student. That’s an adventure too though!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

The first series has been a load of fun but I’m still only going to read it in the store. Pass.

 UNCANNY AVENGERS #1
GERRY DUGGAN (w) • RYAN STEGMAN (a/C)
New team, same mission. Steve Rogers has formed a new Avengers unity squad compromised of humans, mutants and…Inhumans? A new threat to the Avengers is revealed. Wait, is that Deadpool on the cover? Is he seriously an Avenger now?
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

I like Gerry Duggan getting a proper big title – Deadpool is big but it isn’t Avengers big – and I guess Spider-Man is still going to take the time to be on teams and running a global business. Stark has done it for decades, so why not Parker? Deadpool makes sense being on this team, now that I know Duggan is involved. Passing but will be tracking it. Steve Rogers seems like he has the same position as around the Heroic Age, minus the SHIELD overview. Maybe?

UNCANNY INHUMANS #1
CHARLES SOULE (w)
STEVE MCNIVEN & BRANDON PETERSON (a)
Meet the Uncanny Inhumans. MEDUSA! BLACK BOLT! TRITON! READER! HUMAN TORCH?! BEAST?! It’s eight months later and everything is different for the Inhumans. Medusa and Johnny Storm are an item. Black Bolt is running covert missions of his own. And something so big happened between the Inhumans and the X-Men that Beast is now on the side of the Inhumans. And if that’s not enough, the most dangerous villain throughout Marvel’s history is against them—KANG THE CONQUEROR. Don’t miss what the epic team behind DEATH OF WOLVERINE (Charles Soule and Steve McNiven) have in store for you. All this plus a bonus story by Charles and Brandon Peterson (UNCANNY X-MEN).
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

Was Death of Wolverine ever late? I can’t recall. Human Torch is in this as is the traitorous Beast, so that’s not enough to get me to buy this. Pass.

GUIDEBOOK TO THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE – MARVEL’S IRON MAN
MIKE O’SULLIVAN & THE OHOTMU TEAM (w)
Cover by MIKE DEL MUNDO
At last, the Marvel Cinematic Universe receives its own guidebook! Starting with the 2008 blockbuster Marvel’s Iron Man, this series will profile fan-favorite Marvel Studios films and Marvel Television series! But this isn’t your daddy’s Official Handbook — the MCU Guidebooks are completely overhauled, slicker, sleeker and packed with vital information about the people, places, and objects that make the Marvel Cinematic Universe so compelling! Relive the big-screen thrills of Marvel’s Iron Man, and begin building your indispensable library of Cinematic Universe reference books!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

As much as I adore Handbooks, them being about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, leaves me cold. May have to flip through a copy in the store.

MARVEL SUPER HERO CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1
STEVEN GRANT, MARK GRUENWALD & BILL MANTLO (w)
JOHN ROMITA JR. (a/C)
• The Grandmaster enters a cosmic wager with Death herself, using Earth’s mightiest heroes as his chess pieces!

•The stakes? Nothing less than the fate of the Earth itself!

•Guest-starring…everyone! (Everyone circa 1982, that is.)
•Collecting MARVEL SUPER HERO CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS #1-3.
88 PGS./Rated T …$7.99

Kitty is in the first and third issues of this, and it may be fun to keep a nice copy on the shelf. It is priced right. If only Kitty was on the cover, I would be super tempted but if Hastings gets a copy, I could see being tempted by it.

See, this looks super passable but it has the Guardians on the cover BUT with Quill as Star Lord, so I will order it and probably just not buy it.

Can Kitty show up in this cartoon? That would be pretty awesome!

I’m glad they group the four Star Wars ongoings together and at the bottom, makes it easier to skip right over them.

224 PGS./Rated T+ …$49.99
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9884-0
Trim size: oversized

$50 for a hardcover, isn’t terrible. Thus far, in the first four issues – Ultimate Shadowcat has only been in the first issue. Issue four had two major deaths but I can see the trade being a great read. I’m not sure about re-read but if you are waiting for this trade, I imagine it won’t disappoint. I do like it coming out in the same month as the final issue. I know I read the final issue of DC’s Convergeance (which was horrible) and seeing plenty of copies of the other issues, I could have read the whole series, right there but I like the idea of being tempted to read the final issue and buying the trade to get the whole story. Then, the fifty dollars price point, may be a turn off.

120 PGS./Rated T+ …$16.99
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9862-8

If you are a Doug Ramsey completist, you may want this and for $17, that isn’t bad. I’m still hoping that Shadowcat shows up but she is busy over in Star Lord & Kitty Pryde – if that will never come out.

I’m surprised Marvel didn’t brand the trades as “Secret Wars 2015 – Age of Apocalypse – Warzones” but I’m sure the Secret Wars 2015 logo will appear somewhere on the trade dress.

Hey, Marvel can print this with the ‘Champions’ name and everything! Have the full 17 issues in one handy trade is pretty awesome. $100, is a bit much. How many are they hoping to sell? I guess if they sell ten that is a thousand dollars.

Issues 12 and 13 are Battle of the Atom crossover and since that never happen, they are not reprinting it – that’s my theory. This was when the title was pumping out the hits. If you are not turn off by the $35, I would recommend you buy it. Most websites, don’t charge you the full price if you order early.

I’ve heard amazing things and people are still talking about it so it must be holding up. If I can read this in the store, I may try to do so. I imagine it will come shrinkwrapped so I will probably never read it.

Now this, if I had a spare $100 (and I never do!) I would buy this in a heartbeat! The entire Paul Smith run, in a beautiful hardcover, yes please! Plus a slew of other titles. I would definitely put a bookmark wherever issue 165 starts and read on from there, countless times. Probably be another bookmark right when the Original Brood Saga begins with Cockrum on art but 165 to 175, is so great. Legendarily great! Legendarily, is a word, who knew?

136 PGS./Rated T+ …$16.99

Issues three and five were pretty good, even though Lockheed doesn’t appear or is mention in the fifth issue. Issue three was the Black Vortex crossover, which has an appearance by Magik in it.

. . .

October doesn’t look to be too expensive for me. It is mostly a large number of Maybe titles.

Secret Wars 8            $5
Siege 4            $4
Age of Apocalypse 5            $4
All New All Different Marvel Point One             $6
Contest of Champions 1            $5
Extraordinary X-Men 1 &2            $9
Guardians of the Galaxy 1            $4
What If : Infinity – Avengers                        $4
Marvel Super Heroes Spectacular            $4

With ten comics for a total of $45 but I save a dollar a comic, that’s only $35, which is under my $40 budget. I probably only really buy Extraordinary X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy, which is $13 – 3 = $10, which is even better!

I do wonder how Kitty being in this will effect the films, if at all. I still say if they introduced her as ‘Star Lady” and had her name be, Katherine, they probably could get away with it. But her being part of the comics, makes me think I will be buying a slew of titles, going toward.

This wasn’t even all of the new number ones, as there are still six or ten other X-Related titles so November may be the expensive month.

. . .

This seems silly to add, but I know I will need this when I look back at it in a few months :

Titles to add to my pull list –

All New All Different Marvel Point One
Contest of Champions
Extraordinary X-Men
Guardians of the Galaxy
What If : Infinity – Avengers
Marvel Super Heroes Spectacular

Big Brother 17 – Wednesday – July 15, 2015

Posted by John Klein III on July 16, 2015
Posted in: Reality Television, Websites. Tagged: BB17, Big Brother. Leave a comment

Who was picked for Veto?  Who won Veto?  Did the nominees change?  Let’s find out!

Vanessa is the reigning HoH.

James doesn’t suspect that John was throwing it, probably because he himself was pretty lousy.  I’m not sure why James thinks that Audrey is still the target, when he hasn’t spoken to Vanessa, at all.  Vanessa still wants James or Jeff to go, she says James has a 30% chance of winning HoH, every week.

Switch # 9, Liz wants Julia to be friendlier.

Audrey asks Vanessa if the lotion is in the HoH room, is there only the one bottle!?! Vanessa wants to be secret allies with Audrey, which she is okay with.

Austin keeps trying to make Jeff think that they are allies.  Austin wants Jeff, Clay and James – and they can be unbeatable.  Jeff suggests that if they get Shelli out, Clay will get in line.  That’s pretty smart, actually.

Veto Player Selection!

Vanessa – Shelli
John – Houseguest Choice – Austin (Nice! for the plan)
James – Audrey, Vanessa must have told John & James that backdooring Audrey was the plan.

I’m now on Big Brother 3 and Production (I’m on episode three) keeps finding ways to put the ladies in bikinis, pretty clever, Production.

The comp is the two giant dice from the previous season.  Becky is the host, not in a bikini.  Gronk and Roll, is the name.

Round One – Vanessa v Audrey – Audrey wins
Round Two – John v Audrey – John wins!  He knows his mythology
Round Three – James v Austin – Austin wins
Round Four – Shelli v Austin – Austin wins, Shelli didn’t try
Round Five – John v Austin – Final Round! – John wins!  again!  Austin, for the first time, actually got on the mat as well.

John and his convo with the Veto, so awesome!  He adopted a voice and everything!

Vanessa should just nominate Jeff, next to James and tell people “I’m HoH, bitch, I do what I want” there really is no need for explanations.

Vanessa confronts Austin about how he threw the comp to John.  He is denying it, which annoys him.  They are fighting like crazy people.  Austin should have just owned up to it.

Gronk party!  Whenever he calls, they must do what he says or become a Have Not, for the week.

Toga Party, is up first!  Pool Party!  Gronk got the ladies in bikinis, he is smart!  Shower Party, up third!  Poor John, was the only one with a hoodie on.  Fourth, tea party!  Jason and Meg kissed!  Clay and James, kissed as well.  Costume Party, up fifth.  Sixth, sleeping party.  Seventh, Kitchen party.  Limbo-ing!  Congo party, eigth!  Nineth, hot tub party!  It was too early.  So fun!

Jackie had a great bikini but I’m not finding a picture of it.

Jason can tell that Austin is lying, so he is definitely in an alliance with Vanessa.  Jeff confides in Clay, about Austin’s betrayal, so Jeff clearly doesn’t know what is happening in the house.  Austin and Clay are both wearing pink sweaters.  Austin tells Vanessa (and Audrey) and Vanessa wants Austin to blow up Jeff’s game.  Austin is trying to get Jeff to blow up but Jeff isn’t smart enough to take the bait.

BBTakeover!  Gronk is a Super Bowl champion, and is going to reward a winner with a cruise, three days from Miami and the Bahamas.  The BotB winners, HoH winners and PoV winners – Jason/Meg, Austin/Vanessa and John.  They have the chug.  Meg wins the first chip.  Oh, that’s it?  That seemed pretty simple for such a big prize.

Veto Meeting!  John uses the Power of Veto, as he is not an idiot.  Party Time!  Party in the Living Room!  Poor John, was in the middle of the Veto speech.  Vanessa replaces John with . . . Jeff!  I’m all for Jeff going home next.  We will find out Thursday!

. . .

Here is Becky in a bikini, after we were denied the option.

BB17 Becky Blue Bikini

Jackie in a pink bikini –

BB17 Jackie Pink BIkini

Here is a new website I found, for pictures –

Death of Wolverine : Weapon X Program 1

Weapon X Program 1

Writer Charles Soule

Artist & Cover Salvador Larroca

Colors Frank D’Armata

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Cover Dated January 2015

Hastings had this issue so that is one less on my Wishlist!  Now that we know the black caption boxes with red letters is the voice of Ogun, I had to seek this issue out.  I bought this for one dollar, which is pretty awesome.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 1

The voice, let’s just refer to it as Ogun’s voice as there is no point of going along with the mystery now that we know who it is.  Sharp wakes up as Ogun’s voice beckons.  So this is how Sharp looks.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 2 Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 3

Paradise.  Ogun tells Sharp to ignore the pain and start escaping.  Maybe that isn’t Sharp’s face on the previous page as here, he has blonde hair and I don’t think blondes have dark eyebrow lashes.  Plus, Larroca is making a point of keeping his face hidden.  Oh, I bet that first face is Skel, but why put Ogun’s boxes on that page?  I don’t know.

Sharp starts checking on the bodies on the ground but Ogun tells him to keep moving.

Weapon X Program 1 Sharp 1

A guard who is walking Neuro . . . somewhere, is taken out by Sharp.

Weapon X Program 1 Sharp 2

Sharp isn’t a test subject like Neuro, he was a volunteer.  Neuro’s real name is Harold Stanch.

Weapon X Program 1 Ogun 4

After donning a bulky gas mask, Sharp introduces himself.  We get a quick flashback to Ogun during a war.  How does anyone see out of googles?  Ogun must be so annoyed as his depth perception is all off.  Not depth perception, range of scope.

Nuero doesn’t remember much, he only recalling being slapped by the now dead guard and being placed in handcuffs.  These two run into Junk and Skel, which I’m pretty proud that I know these codenames now, they finally left an impression on me.  Also fun is that when this first goes their separate ways, these are the duos that stick together.

Junk doesn’t notice the smoke that Sharp does, which is probably do to his heighten senses.  More soldiers come in and start firing away.  Junk apparently has acid spit, so that’s gross.  Sharp volunteers, it is what he does, to take on all of the soldiers as the others escape.  Skel joins the fight and starts feeling better, the first hint of that.

Neuro stands too close to inspect Junk and he pushes him away, it is a very rude thing to do.  Shape wants to head outside but down but Neuro corrects him, the best way out is up.  He has analyzed that the smoke is below them, so down is where the fire is.  Does Neuro get dust on his brain or does he have a glass plate over his noggin?

Sharp notices a lady, Endo, and gets her to join the group.  She resists at first, and Ogun tells Sharp to slap her but Sharp convinces her that they are the best way to survive.

Endo stakes out the remaining guards around the helicopter and Sharp heads out to fight them.  We get a flashback panel to Saigon, 1975, with Ogun getting onto a helicopter.  I really like Ogun’s response to Wolverine’s metal coated skeleton corpose, hhh – who is he, Batman?

Sharp kills the soldiers.  On the helicopter is a blonde lady, who we still don’t know the name of.  Paradise crumbles as they fly away.  Endo thanks Sharp for saving them all.

Weapon X Program 1 Last Page

Sharp takes off his mask and sees Logan’s face in a reflection, which we know is an illusion as we’ve seen his blonde hair throughout the issue.  It is a decent fakeout that it isn’t Ogun but Logan’s voice but I like this reveal as let’s keep Logan dead as long as possible.  With Secret Wars 2015, we are going to be seeing a load of Wolverines, so it will be like he is with us again, soon enough.
