Hey Everybody!

My wife has been wanting me to try to earn money from the blog and after resisting it for a few years now, I figured Year Three was the time to look into it.

A few years ago, I had major problems getting into my eBay and PayPal accounts so I gave up on both of those after struggling so much to recover my passwords.  Six years later, I was able to log in and create new accounts and didn’t have one problem.

paypal.me/JackalsIII

No pressure to support, but if you would like to, the money will go towards future comic purchases.  That’s all I really can offer for those that provide any.

I’ve also created a widget to the sidebar and a page (above) for convenience.  I just wanted to spotlight the two changes to the blog with a proper post about the option.

Big Brother 18 : Episode 7 – July 6, 2016

Power of Veto!  Will Paulie’s backdoor Victor plan succeed?

I had forgotten that Victor, the BB Roadkill winner, nominated Tiffany.  I want her out of there!

Day 18.  Tiffany knows that Victor nominated her.  I’m sure she cried about that, at some point.  He picked her as he thought he could get the numbers to send her home.

Tiffany immediately cries to Michelle.  My “m” has been sticking on this keyboard.  How do I fix that?  Da’vonne tries to reassure Tiffany that they have the numbers to keep her.  Later, she tells Paulie that she’s getting paranoid.  She smells a backdoor plot.  Just get her out of there, she be crazy yo!  She can’t trust anyone and Da’Vonne comes in the room.  I love her eye roll, like “she’s still going on about this?” Now Tiffany is crying.  Da’Vonne, in DR, sees all of Vanessa’s flaws in Tiffany.  Me too!  You can’t let Tiffany get to the second half of the game!

Bronte wonders if she can make herself a smaller threat than Tiffany.  I hope so!

Frank tells Paulie that Tiffany is their weakest link as Tiffany walks in!  I love this montage of Frank having a problem with Tiffany.  Who wants Vanessa 2.0 around, not me or the house! She’s also fond of wearing hats too.

Paulie has a chat with Paul to see where Paul’s head is at.  Victor blew up Paul’s game and now Paul has to mend some fences.  Paul is cutting tie with Victor.  Now we need Natalie to stay clear of Victor too.  For some reason, James was in the meeting too.

Veto Players!

Paulie – Da’Vonne
Bronte
Tiffany
Paul – Zakiyah

Paulie drew Paul’s name, forcing Paul to pick someone – he tried to pick the most unoffensive choice.  Victor forces a super awkward chat with Paul.  That ends with Victor getting a piggy back ride from Frank.  Frank, later, tells Paul how much he respects Paul for not choosing Victor.

Veto Comp!

Corey is the host.  It is farm theme.  Toezarks.  They are looking for letters inside of toes (fungus) to spell a long word in 12 minutes.  I still am fond of Jeff’s Technotronics.

Da’vonne doesn’t want Tiffany to win.

The Word –

Paul – Slouched – 9 points
Tiffany – Twinkling – 10 points
Da’vonne – Redemption – 9 points
Zakiyah – Duration – 6 points
Bronte – Powerful – 10 points, she ranged in before Tiffany, so she is in the lead
Paulie – Sustainability – 10 points, he likes to spell

Paulie wins!  He gets to score crazy points for putting up Victor.

No one believes Tiffany was trying to throw the competition, as she was clearly counting Da’vonne’s letters.  Da’vonne wastes no time to let the 8Pack know that Tiffany can’t be trusted.  Good for her!

Bronte doesn’t feel safe in the house, Natalie and her only trust each other.  I feel bad for poor Bridgette the third person in their three person alliance.

Paulie tells Paul that he is coming off the block.  Paulie tells the plan to Frank, Nicole and Corey.  Victor shows up to ruin their ability to talk openly.  If I was HoH, I wouldn’t let no one use my shower.  I won’t ask for it either.  HoH Showers are for winners, ya’ll!

James scared Nicole pretty good.  I was scaring Walker Dennis for like twenty straight minutes, he was loving it.  I was pretty much just hiding behind corners.

The Fatal 5 (the girls of the 8Pack alliance) want to get rid of Tiffany, so that isn’t great for Tiffany.  Her game is being busted due to Vanessa’s gameplay but Tiffany is acting just like her sister.

Victor and Paul are playing pool.  Poor Paul has to lie to Victor, the entire time.

Veto Meeting!

Tiffany tires to be sweet but it doesn’t work.  Bronte is actually sweet but he isn’t going to help her.  Paul says he is a friend to Paulie.  Paulie uses the Veto on Paul, the friendship line worked!

Paulie nominated Victor, so now Victor has to game it up.

Here is Bronte’s opening title sequence –

BB18 BigBrotherTV Title Sequence Bronte

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

So the last Pokemon Game(s) I’ve played was way back in 2004 on the old GameBoy Advance.

fireredleafgreen_maindetail

The ability to play as a girl was still relatively a new feature back then.  So, of course, I played as my wife.  I was having a good ol’ time when I captured (or collected – I should say) an Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl

In game he looked like this :

aerodacyl f and aerodacyl b

and the greatest idea of all time came at me like a freight train!

I should start a whole new game as Kitty and trade her an Aerodactyl as early as possible and have that be her main pokemon.  Unfortantely, you have to play for a bit and go through two gym leaders but I did go back and made a point of having him defeat those ones (how ever many that turn out to be).

It was such a great experience and it was something I kept secret until just now.

I will say this, officially, if they ever released one Pokemon game that had the ability to collect them all, I would pay $60.00 for that game.  I’m sure they would sell twice as many.  I know they would never do this as they currently get people buying two $40 games so why would they ever half their business on a chance at doubling it.

Which I don’t get as by now, it must be so complicated a process to capture all 718 types of Pokemon – though I do know that the number is probably a third of it with all the evolution types.

I was tempted to play X & Y recently as I heard they did make it easier to collect them all but then I forgot about the friendship evolutions and the day and time evolutions – I’m thinking Eevee right now – and I didn’t want to bother with all of that as I’m sure even if I just played the one game straight – at one point, I’ll want to try to get them all.

Anyways, I had a great time with my Kitty and her Aerodactyl named Lockheed and whenever I think of or hear the word, Pokemon, I think about to how fun those weeks were.  In fact, now that I think of it, I’m pretty sure that that’s how I played that one game, just trying to get to the Master League with Lockheed and never taking him out of the rotation.  He was her first level 99 pokemon and even then, I never took him out of the rotation.  He learn (or I gave him) false swipe so he wouldn’t kill wild pokemon.

Oh what powers did I give him, as I tried to make him as much like Lockheed as possible?

He had :

Fly

Flamethrower

Crunch

Those three for sure.  I want to say the fourth move was Take Down or something.  Unfortunately, I don’t believe our 3DS can play old DS games and my DS goes from various stages of being lost and found.  Having nephews who want to play the game will do that and I worry that they will save over my file and I will have to do all that work again.

Actually I want to say the fourth one was Fire Blast as I wanted him to have two flame attacks as that is really how he fights.  Crunch is the deadly version of Bite.

I finally located my GameBoy Advance and these are the official moves that I gave him :

Ancient Power
Fly
Flamethrower
Bite

Not bad for how close I got to what my memory was.

These two sites helped jogged my memory for this article :

Venom Space Knight 2

Marvel’s attempts to get me to buy the satellite Guardians titles continues!

Venom Space Knight 2 Recap

I flipped through the first issue, I liked the art – but there was no Kitty Pryde to be seen.  Here is what happened – Venom saved a mother and her children from a space pirate.  He dropped them off at their home, and picked up a robot, 803.

Venom Space Knight 2 Kitty Pryde 1

That’s right, I own this issue just for this one amazing page!  Look how awesome that is!  Get Olivetti over to an issue of Guardians of the Galaxy!

Flash is at an AA meeting.  Good for him, for both finding a meeting and keeping up with it, while in space.  Flash has two jobs, one has great coworkers (the Guardians) and the other, is that he is a Space Knight.

Like many episodes of ABC’s Revenge – this issue takes place 63 Hours, Fifteen Minutes, Three Seconds Ago.

Venom is fighting a giant space crab.  803 tries to give him a status update but Venom is busy.  He does want 803 to find the ship that is following them.

Venom heard a cry for help from the native P’Qui by the Klyntari (from what the translation box states).  Flash expands the symbiotic to cover himself and the four aliens, as he gets them home.  I’m not sure how he is still standing, as he doesn’t have legs, but he is.

These aliens are drilling and that spurred the crab creature to strike out.  The drill actually fell from space, and has been upsetting everybody.  The drill fills up, sends the product to space and continues drilling – all on its own.

Venom has 803 target the drill and explodes it, that was an easy one.

As Venon rejoins 803 on his ship and blasts off, the war ship is on top of them.  The war ship tractor beams Venom’s ship and Venom gets ready for a fight.  Flash keeps making Earth references like the Death Star and 911, but no one knows what he is talking about.

Venom comes across a purple bulky alien fella, with the head of a hammerhead shark.  Venom tries to talk to it, as he sees the purple is a fellow symbiote.  Venom name checks the symbiote race – Klyntars.  That doesn’t overly complicate things, does it?

All of Venom’s chattering gets the other guy to start talking.  Since the Klyntars are peaceful, Venom knows the host must be a rough type.

A white symbiote speaks up.  The white one is Myntril and the purple one is, Tarna.  They are all agents of the cosmos, like Venom is.  Venom, Agent of the Cosmos, could have been a pretty good title instead of stealing ROM’s Space Knight title.

Tarna mocks Venom for being both weak and not in touch with his symbiote.  Venom stands up for himself, good for him!  His relationship is good, besides the voices in his head.  Myntril states that the voices are from the cosmos.  He goes on to say that once they hear the voice, they must answer the call.  Flash likes having this purpose.  These two have been testing Venom.  Myntril likes Flash and Tarna is not that impress with him – I like having the two different takes.  Tarna is a lady, it turns out, I see the boobs now.

Myntril didn’t recognize the drill from any known alien race.  Myntril also suspects the drill is related to the weapons Venom found in the first issue – it is all connected.

Myntril leaves, letting Venom know that Tarna is in charge of his training.

We catch up, 36 hours later and the AA meeting ends.  They even have donuts!

Issue ends with Lord Mercurio, not happy that Venom has stopped his goals, twice.  Tubin calls him, Lord but he doesn’t deserve the title until they get their planet back.  Mercurio sends their most dangerous prisoner, Pik Rollo, to go kill Venom (and bring back his head!) so next issue should get pretty intense!

I doubt I’ll get the next issue but this issue was pretty fun!

Big Brother 18 : Episode 6 – July 3, 2016

Who will become the new HoH?  Who will be nominated?  Who wins BB Roadkill?  Who will they nominate?

So many questions!  This should be a packed episode!  My wife has pretty much spoiled this for me but let’s continue as I do like seeing things play out.

HoH Comp, continuation from Thursday.

Day 16.  Natalie falls first, and is eliminated.

Five minutes before the live show, Frank had a meeting with Victor.  Frank wants Victor out.

Poor Freakazoids, as they only have Corey and Tiffany playing for them as Nicole is the outgoing HoH.  Big Sister isn’t doing it so well, Da’Vonne and Zakiyah are super slow – which is killing Paul.  Tiffany falls, as she’s the worst.  Now Corey has to do everything.  Then Corey falls ad loses everything!  James likes to throw competitions, which one should NEVER do! Poor James, he is on the wrong team as everyone on Team Unicorn (besides him) tried to vote Paulie out.  James falls.

Category4 gets 40 balls.  They have to decide which one is getting the 41st one – that person gets to be HoH for the week.  Since Paulie was on the block for the week, he got to become the HoH.  None of the team can be nominated.

Bronte, Victor and Paul know that they are being nominated this week.  Victor is straight up crying in DR.

Some of the houseguests are keeping their balls from the competition. That’s what I’ll do!  I’ll pack a small bag for the keepsakes.

8Pack are so excited their side won, poor Paulie he’s under the impression there is a Pack9 but he’s the ninth person of an eight person alliance.

Paul suspects that Natalie flipped but Bronte swears that she didn’t.  Zakiyah and Tiffany are the ones that flopped, as well as Michelle.  Corey too, I forgot about him.  Paul and Victor try to see where Paulie’s head is.  Bronte joins the conversation.  Victor tries to throw Natalie under the bus, so there goes that showmance.  Paul really wants to get rid of Victor.

Later, Paulie and Corey meet with Paul.  Paulie wants to build trust with Paulie.  Paulie wants to use Paul as a pawn, which Paul has no choice but to go along with that plan.

James has been flirting it up with all of the ladies, none have been safe.  He seems to be drawn to Nicole, Natalie and Bridgette.

Nominations!  (we’re at the half way mark of the episode)  Paul (pawn) and Bronte (???) are the nominees.  He’s going after those who voted him out, which is smart.  Paulie wants to backdoor Victor.  Victor suspects he’s a target.

Nicole and Corey are in bed together, while Victor is in the room.  Get the hint dude!  Corey apparently spends a lot of money on Christmas decorations, so he must have some money.  He’s a big Christmas fan.  James came in and heard this and just left.  James tries to snuggle with Natalie but she gets out of bed to get Bronte.  Bronte gets into the bed and James scares her.

BB Roadkill.  They have to mark six items that equals $18, the fastest gets to nominate a third person.  Looks like this is a hold over from when Big Brother visited the Price is Right.

Paulie – Da’Vonne – Nicole – Tiffany – Zakiyah – James – Natalie – Corey – Bronte – Michelle – Bridgette – Frank – Paul – Victor (this is the order we see people play in)

It looks like no one is simply adding up to eighteen dollars.  Actually, some are shown trying to do the math.  Natalie doesn’t like hot dogs, that’s a shame!

The winner of the second BB Roadkill is  . . . VICTOR!!!  Victor told Paulie that he won, which is a mistake.  Victor was trying to earn trust but he only added yet another target to his back.  He can wins comps.  Victor told Frank too.  Learn to keep a secret, gosh!  After Victor tells Paul, Paul tells him to stop telling people.

Tiffany feels gross as she is gross.

Victor asks for some suggestions for who he should nominate.  Paulie doesn’t care as he has the numbers and can keep the third nominee safe.

The third nominee is . . . Tiffany!  Let’s work to get her sent home, ya’ll!

I’m all for Tiffany being sent home, who needs Vanessa 2.0 – not me!

Here is Bronte’s pool image.

BB18 Pool Bronte

I wouldn’t really miss her if she left but she is fun in DR.

Ultimate End 5

Ultimate End 5

Writer Brian Michael Bendis

Penciler Mark Bagley

Inker Scott Hanna

Colorist Justin Ponsor

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

The Ultimate Universe comes to an end, and it goes out with a whimper.

Ultimate End 5 1a Ultimate Shadowcat Magik Ultimate End 5 1b Ultimate Shadowcat Magik

The big hero on hero fight that began at the end of last issue, is halted when Miles Morales shows up.

Bombshell shouts his real name, most other heroes stop fighting to see what this young kid has to say.

Ultimate End 5 2 Ultimate Shadowcat

Spider-Man vouches for Miles.  Luke Cage believes he should, as Miles looks to be the president of the Spider-Man fan club.  Which is pretty funny.

Ultimate Shadowcat wants to hear what her friend and former teammate has to say.  I really like Storm’s comment about letting him talk as they can go back to halfheartedly fighting each other.  I imagine, in all of those previous hero matchups, that they don’t go all out on each other.  Unless there is a grudge to be settle.

Ultimate Fury declares a cease fire.

Ultimate Cloak also says Miles’ real name and he has to finally ask people to stop saying it.  Miles starts to hint at what has happened.  Teen Jean starts the psychic invasion (because she is the worst) that Emma and Rachel rapidly join in.  Emma opens everyone’s mind to what Miles has in his.

We begin the sequence of a couple pages of beautifully drawn pages by Bagley.  The first page features Bagley drawing everyone from the Proper Marvel Universe – The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Avengers (Beast, Captain America, Iron Man, Wasp, Thor and Warbird).  Goliath, Vision, Scarlet Witch and the worst – Wonder Man.  Even the X-Men make it – John Proudstar, Cyclops, Angel, Jean Grey, Xavier, Colossus, Wolverine, Iceman (gayness, questionable), Storm and Nightcrawler.

Miles states that the Proper Marvel Universe, is the way the universe should have been.  He hints that the current New York has been created by one person.

Ultimate End 5 3 Ultimate Shadowcat

We get the Ultimate Universe pin up page.  The Ultimates – Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk and Hawkeye.  Nick Fury.  The Fantastic Four.  The All New Ultimates – Bombshell, Spider-Woman, Cloak & Dagger.  I wish Ultimate Shadowcat was inbetween this team and the X-Men, it would have been a nice transition.  The X-Men are – Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine and Nightcrawler.

Miles really goes on about how horrible this current state of the world is.

Two amazing pages and then we get a double page spread of God Doom’s face.  Not quite the victory lap I would have liked but it is okay.  Miles really rips into God Doom.  Miles recalls the way it use to be, as he was in the Life Raft.  He knows Doom as the super villain and king of his own kingdom – not the over ruler of an entire world.  Doom created this region of New York so that he can punish those fools that have annoyed him over the years.

Ultimate End 5 4 Ultimate Shadowcat Magik

See the page above?  Be prepared to see it two more times (three more, if you own the issue).  Which is a shame, as I’m sure this issue was mainly delayed due to issues seven, eight and nine being reworked of Secret Wars 2015.  They added issue nine, took pages away from seven and eight as well as moved pages around to make the flow better.  But having a two page spread, repeated but less art, seems like a cost cutting measure.  So that makes eight pages of the comic super easy to do.  Then there is the issue of the pinup art, with narration boxes, so this issue feels lack luster.  It looks amazing but it is a fast read.  Plus, the way it ends – just like Old Man Logan’s fifth issue – there are two completely white pages and Miles wakes up in the All New All Different Marvel Universe.  I wish Marvel had the courage to just put a giant “Buy Issue Nine of Secret Wars 2015” box on the one page.  Maybe I’ll end up buying issue nine, if it really is a giant all heroes fighting issue.

Let’s get to the positives.  Ultimate Shadowcat is between Ultimate Iron Man and Proper Iceman.  Magik is between Storm and Rogue.

The heroes are having, pretty much, the same reaction to hearing that their God Doom is really just a regular dude.  Or at least, that he started life as a regular dude.  He is all powerful here, on Battleworld.

Miles continues to describe that others were on the Life Raft.  The gathered heroes are having to deal with the fact that they are not the original character but a duplicate or alternate universe.  Ultimate Dagger is worried that she isn’t real – which is what I’m always writing about, that if you went to an alternate universe, it will lower the stakes for everybody.  Nothing really matters, and you might as well live your life as you wish.  Miles explains that they are all real, they are from different places.  Miles get help from Spider-Man, who we now know isn’t the same one from the Life Raft.

Ultimate Hulk loses his mind and starts attacking Miles.  Old Man Logan gets Hulk to calm down.  It is almost as if this issue is serving the only purpose of getting Miles to the All New All Different Marvel Universe, the other storypoints of the Iron Men tries to figure out the secrets of this world or where Proper Bruce Banner is, are completely dropped.  I guess the Iron Men story doesn’t really matter, now that the heroes know that this region was created.

Old Man Logan confirms Miles story, as Old Man Logan has climbed the walls of Battleworld and has seen the various regions, that don’t add up or mix well with the other ones.  The X-Men freak out, seeing an older Wolverine.  So this issue takes place before Old Man Logan 5, I suppose.  Or in a super awkward way, at the same time of it?

Ultimate End 5 5 Magik

The Thors show up, as Miles is clearly making rules being there – as is Old Man Logan.

Cyclops asks Magik to teleport them to safely.  So yay for Magik being used in an important way!

Whichever Punisher survived the fight with the other, starts firing on the Thors.  He doesn’t last long.

Ultimate End 5 6 Ultimate Shadowcat Magik

Magik has a penthouse safehouse, of course she does!

The Iron Men are not sure what should happen next.  If the united heroes do fight Doom, and win (somehow) what happens then?  FalCap says they will deal with that, once they get there.  Other heroes start losing confidence, as the stakes are too high.

Ultimate Captain America simplifies the situation.  He says, “A truly bad man did something horrendous.  He needs to be stopped.  The end.”  Which is pretty awesome!

Actually Doc Green is Proper Hulk, so with Ultimate Hulk, I guess all subplots are addresssed but the issue really took a hard turn to deal with this issue’s story.

The heroes are worried that things may be too broken.

Ultimate End 5 7 Magik

Everyone wants to go their separate ways, to get their affairs in order.  Doom will be stopped.

The Home of Peter Parker, Queens.  Peter calls his Aunt May, of the Ultimate Universe.

The Home of Miles Morales, Brooklyn.  Miles checks in on his father and his best friend, Granke.

Stark Tower, New York City.  Tony leaves a voicemail for Pepper Potts.

So for the rest of the issue, we get these three character’s message or conversations, as they say goodbye.  Makes sense that Bendis picked these three characters. He is going to be writing the main Iron Man title, that has already come out – so he has one last big chance to show his take on the character.  Bendis has amazing runs with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, both being major parts of the Ultimate Universe.

We do get to see the heroes going to God Doom.  A Fire Galactus (who I believe is Franklin Richards, maybe?) and the Thors are there.

I looked and looked and didn’t see Magik nor Ultimate Shadowcat in the attacking heroes – so that’s a shame as Bagley has been able to put them into the previous shots.

Ultimate End 5 8 Ultimate Shadowcat Magik

At least Magik and Ultimate Shadowcat make it to this page!  Iceman is gone, to Ultimate Shadowcat’s right and Rogue is gone to Magik’s right.

The goodbyes continue, I can’t really say the messages are all that touching.  At least, Tony’s is nice in that he keeps giving Pepper a hard time for how she is of course missing out on this important moment in the world.

I’m not really sure if these heroes are dying, and that’s why they are not present, anymore.

Ultimate End 5 9 Magik

So we turn the page, and get the exact same image – except with less characters’ faces!  See how lame that is?  It looks like a fun visual but it doesn’t read that well.

Ultimate Shadowcat is now gone from Tony’s right.  Magik starts to fade away.

Turn the page again, and only the Spider-Men and the Iron Men are present.  They are fading away though.

Turn the page and we get treated to two completely blank pages!

Miles wakes up, to his mother saying his name.  Earlier in the issue, he talked about how he lost his mother to his superhero life style – so that’s nice that she made it to the All New All Different Marvel Universe.  His friends also made it to the New Marvel Universe.  His three friends don’t get name checked, one of them is Ganke.

Issue ends with Miles, in his Spider-Man costume, webslinging along the city.  In the background, is the Ultimates’ home base, so I’m not sure how that survived, or how that will effect things.

So a lousy way to end the Ultimate Universe, hopefully Miles’ series will deal with some closure to that once proud universe.

This series started out well but ooof, what a way to end!

Who goes home and who becomes the next HoH?

Julie Chen hints that someone will have a chance to come back into the house.

Who will go home – Jozea, Paulie or Bridgette?  Thanks to turning on the feeds, we knew who went home while waiting for the episode to go live on CBS All Access.  The plan, I’m not sure how for sure this is, is to try to wake up early on Friday and try to get the post written up.

How many messiahs have turn out to be well regarded and lived to talk about it?

Bridgette shouldn’t be worried, I imagine the third person never gets any votes – just like every Survivor finale.

oh Jozea, has been wrong for weeks now and I’m glad his game is almost over.  Even if he came back into the house, he should be a tad wiser now.

Because Da’vonne was in the big house meeting, she knows that Bridgette was working as a double agent.

A second and bigger girl alliance forms – Fatal Five – Nicole / Da’vonne / Zakiyah / Michelle / Tiffany – it could work.  Once they get Bridgette out, they could absorb Natalie and Bronte.

James, up to his pranks, put mayo in Natalie’s anti-aging cream.  So gross!  Production should have stopped him as that costs her money!  Bronte instantly knows that mayo has been added to the cream.

The Spy Girls think it is weird that Nicole hasn’t campaigned to any of these three to save someone from the block.  So they have a hint that there is a huge group in the house.

Jozea wants to hash things out with Nicole.  Bridgette flat out states that Nicole can be tricky which Zakiyah immediately reports back to Nicole!  Fatal Five debate if they should get ride of Bridgette.  Who I keep wanting to call “Christine” but I’m not sure where I’m getting that.

The Nolan Twins are in the audience.  Don’t show up on non-finale night.

James and Natalie are throwing chips at Victor and Paul.  These two boyz don’t take well to pranks.  Later, James and some girls have some girl talk.  Paul doesn’t like not being included.  Victor nitpicks everything Natalie does.  Bronte follows Paul outside, to try to calm him down.  Jozea, Victor and Paul insult Bronte and say she isn’t very useful outside.

Speeches – Paulie’s was decent and Bridgette’s was sort of cute.  Jozea just tried to apply for a job he knows he isn’t getting.

Live Votes!

Victor – Paulie

Zakiyah – Jozea

Paul – Paulie

Frank – Jozea

commercial break, there are so many houseguests!

Da’Vonne – Jozea

Michelle – Jozea

Bronte – Paulie

Natalie – Paulie

James – Jozea

Tiffany – Jozea

It is official, Jozea is leaving tonight.

Corey – Jozea

7 – 4 – 0, Jozea leaves with utter silence!  The houseguests are having a moment of awkward silence!  Super awkward that they are going to commercial break so Jozea has to just sit there for three minutes as Chenbot has to ask him the worst questions and set up the next twist.

Julie asks about the silence he left under.  He thinks Natalie flipped, he’s so dumb.  Are neck tattoos no longer frown upon?  There was a guy at Target with a giant face tattoo – I’m glad they gave him a chance as I imagine many retailers didn’t.

Jozea saw Nicole’s season, from two years ago.  So weird, what made him apply?  Did he come from casting?

Chen asks him about the house meeting even though he fully explained it, at the time and it has been covered and recapped since.

Julie Chen sets up the twist.  It is essentially Survivor’s Redemption Island or Top Chef’s Last Chance Kitchen.  He’s going to compete against Glenn on Sunday, if I’m understanding that right.  Seems only fair to Glenn as he didn’t get a house vote.  It is called, Battle Back.  Sounds like there will be at least three two rounds.

Live HoH Competition!  We just see the beginning of it!

My wife told me that Paulie is the new HoH so he and his team are safe.  He eventually nominates two people but his target is to back door Victor.  Which seems super risky with the cast being so large.

Not bad, the twists are still coming.  The twists and the teams will probably be over by Week Five.

Natalie is eliminated!

Anyone catch why Zakiyah was voting?  I may end up liking her, she doesn’t get enough screen time.  I can’t find a gif for what I’m trying to point out.  dang it!  The Internet really lets me down when it comes to Big Brother images and gifs.  I don’t know how to take or make them myself.

BB18 Zakiyah hair flip

She did do a fun dance routine with Nicole.  I’m surprise that hadn’t made the edit yet.

Sunday – Battle Back & BB Road Kill, as well as the rest of HoH – going to be packed.
Wednesday – PoVThursday – Elimination

After Dark airs on Pop?  A channel I’ve never heard of.  I wonder why CBS All Access just doesn’t get it?  For the same luxuries that cable channels enjoy even though those three or four hours are typically super tame.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3

Writer Brian Michael Bendis

Artist Valerio Schiti

Color Artist Richard Isanove

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Cover by Art Adams and Pete Steigerwald

I had to add the Mahmud Asrar variant to my Wishlist.

I love how Bendis does these opening narrations –

Knowhere.  The Edge of the Universe.  Located inside the decapitated head of a Celestial.  The rent is insane.

The Marketplace.  We told you not to eat at the street vendor Glakin and you never listen.

Frunta’s House of Self-Defensery.  He has only a two-star rating in Drogon’s Market Guide.  He thinks it’s because his competition on the other side of the market is spamming him with negative reviews.  But it is really his sister.  She drinks.

Such a great way to introduce (he’s new to me, at least) Frunta, the weapon seller.  Yotat the Destroyer, and two friends, come into the store – they are looking for Drax.  Frunta only sells him weapons, so he doesn’t really know where Drax is.  There is an emergency news break, Spartax is under attack.  Frunta shouts that must be where Drax is, but Yotat isn’t happy about this development.  Yotat slices Frunta’s head, clear off.  In only three pages, we really got to know Frunta and now, I’m going to miss that guy.

Before these three space goons can go far, a messenger Brood tells Yotat that the Brood Queen wants to speak with him.

In Spartax’s Orbit.  Quill is losing his mind, he wants someone to rescue him, so that he can fight for his planet.

Spartax.  Royal Court.  Hala is making very short work of the Royal Court.  After she’s done with them, she starts tearing into buildings.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 1

Kitty, being the great resource that she is, is quietly phasing her teammates underground.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 2

Hala, is ready for round two – but the Guardians are nowhere to be seen.

Kitty saved Venom for last, as Rocket starts to wake up.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 3

Kitty needs a minute, she is still hurting from Hala’s staff weapon thing.

I could really go for a Kitty & Rocket buddy title, the two of them have some great chemistry.  They have a very fun exchange of “flu-ish” and “foolish.”  She loves and hates him, so much.  He starts to get annoyed that she is always wanting to include Quill – he left the team and Rocket is fine with that.  Rocket thinks that Quill must be dead, as Hala really hates him.

Kitty goes over to check on Grimm.  She checks on Drax, who grabs her by the throat.  Kitty must be hurting, as she doesn’t phase through his grasp.

Rocket has located Quill, he’s in orbit.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 4

Drax is trying to figure out why Quill is in orbit – even though Kitty just explained Hala’s motivations.  She wants Quill to see his adopted planet be destroyed.  Rocket can understand Hala’s motivations.  Drax states that Gamora really isn’t doing well.  Venom offers up that he isn’t doing well, either.

Pryde suggests that they need to get a ship and rescue Quill.  Pryde tells Drax that he is not rejoining the fight, they are regrouping.  Pryde’s plan is to get Quill, create a plan and bounce Hala into the sun.  Grimm has woken up, and wants to help accomplish her goals.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 5

The Guardians get to the ship dock (is that the term?) and Hala has destroyed all the ships.  Which is pretty smart.  Space ship dock?  Space dock?  Pryde asks if Rocket can repair one of them, of course he can!

Rocket finally calls Pryde on all of her plans.  She recognizes him as the leader, which pleases him.

Rocket tells Groot that he is with him.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 6

With one page turn, Rocket and Groot have fixed a spaceship.  Groot waves the team over.  Pryde tells Venom to cover them.  Drax isn’t happy that they are not fighting back.

Grimm and Rocket have a fun exchange.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 7

Pryde wants Rocket to put the ship into cloak mode, they are not high enough yet.  I didn’t even know that was a necessary element for cloaking.  They didn’t deal with that on Star Trek the Next Generation.

Rocket doesn’t have time to answer all of her space ship questions.

Hala has spotted the Guardians, which must be super easy, as there shouldn’t be any spaceships in the air.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 8

Grimm wants a second shot at Hala, but Pryde can’t ask that of him.  Before he can jump out of the ship, Gamora takes the lead.

Guardians of the Galaxy V4 3 StarKitty 9

With a giant punch, Gamora falls to the ground.

Hala stands over Gamora, triumphant.  Hala keeps following the ship, gets up to Quill’s pod ship and breaks that in half.  We see that the Guardians’ ship is still flying on, so they must have picked him up.

Next issue’s cover shows the Guardians defeated but Rocket as the last raccoon standing.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 3 2011

Writer James Asmus

Art Nick Bradshaw

Colors Jim Charalampious

Letters Jared K. Fletcher

Cover Dated May 2011

Escape from the Negative Zone, Part One of Three

I see Nick Bradshaw on art and I’m already a happy camper!

I only own this first part and for a silly reason, we’ll get to that.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 3 2011 Recap Page

The main cast of the book is – Hope Summers, Madison Jeffries, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Dr. Nemesis and Namor.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 3 2011 Hope Summers Scott Summers is a Jerk

Issue opens with Hope shouting that Scott Summers is a jerk!  And yes, that’s all it takes for me to keep an issue.  As far as I know, the famous expression of a young Kitty Pryde.  The only other issue I know is Hulk V3 9 – which I also own.  If you know of any other issues, please let me know and I’ll add them to the list.

Cyclops is already tired of Hope and her mouth.

You know what, when I looked at this issue on Marvel Database, it stated Magik was in the issue I thought the next image was Magik (and I’ll get to why I have my doubts in a little bit) but now I see those little faces in the bottom left corner of the page.  Colossus, two brunettes, Cannonball and Magik are all watching the scene from a safe distance.

Hey, Illyana is in all three of these “is a jerk” issues, that’s pretty neat.

Hope is, again, mad that the Lights (after Second Coming, the first mutants after M-Day) are not allowed on another mission.  She does wish they would get a new name.  I doubt they were ever actually called “Generation Hope.”  Scott apparently hadn’t had any time to meet and spend any time with the Lights.  He’s busy running Utopia, with Emma.

Namor arrives as the Atlanteans are in darkness as Madison Jeffries borrowed some power to open the Limbo Bridge.

Cyclops hints that they need a new way into Limbo, after that happened.  Which I can only imagine is a reference to the Rise and Fall of the New Mutants, in New Mutants 25.  Namor was promised that Utopia wouldn’t interfere with Atlantis.  Jeffries hits a tube with a wrench and this energy explosion happens.

Emma wakes up and telepathically summons anyone that has energy control, manipulation and absorption powers.

Hope wakes up, along with Cyclops, Doctor Nemesis and Namor, on the other side.  Cyclops starts like this is a training exercise but Namor takes offense as both he and Doctor Nemesis have been around since World War II.  Doctor Nemesis is as snappy and witty as I’ve grown to love.

Namor goes off to look for water, Hope doesn’t want to be paired with Cyclops but Cyclops wants to team with her so Doctor Nemesis goes to catch up with Namor.  I adore how much Hope doesn’t hide how little she likes this decision.

Namor and Doctor Nemesis start fighting with a giant space rock worm thing.  Well, mostly Namor fights it and Doctor Nemesis provides color commentary.

Cyclops tries to take this opportunity to get Hope to work with him.

Uncanny X-Men Annual 3 2011 Magik

Meanwhile, Emma has Magneto, Doug, Warlock and who I thought was Magik.  But that’s clearly Dazzler with her signature energy powers, right?  David, Colossus and Pixie are also assisting.

Dr. Rao is medically seeing Madison Jeffries, who is out of commission.  Emma sends Pixie to New York.

Back in space, Hope is bragging how she doesn’t need survival training from Cyclops.  She had the best teacher in Cable, and I like how Cyclops doesn’t waste any time humble bragging that he taught Cable everything he knew.  Well, up to a point – naturally.  Is this the most we get Hope and Cyclops together, in terms of actual talking to each other?  He should be like a grandfather to her but that aspect of their relationship is hardly played up.

Aliens arrive, Scott tries to talk to them, but they recognize his language as one from Earth and shut him down.

Meanwhile, Namor isn’t doing so well against the worm thingie and Doctor Nemesis shoots it and knocks it out.  Namor doesn’t appreciate how much time was wasted.

Issue ends with Cyclops waking up with a classic gizmo on his head that blocks his optic blasts.  Hope doesn’t seem overly restrained.  Issue ends with the reveal that Blastaar is going to use these two Summers as bait.  Oh and they are in the Negative Zone, which is confirmed now.

Story continues in Steve Rogers : Super Soldier Annual 1 and concludes in Namor : The First Mutant Annual 1.  I didn’t get either of those and I’m pretty sure I never read much about how well received this three-parter was.

A lot of debate if I should tack on the Big Brother 18 post or wait one more day for it.  I figured, this is the big anniversary post, why not make it supersized!  This post has something for everyone!  (I hope!)

Big Brother 18 : Episode 4 – June 29, 2016

The first Power of Veto competition!  Will Paulie, Jozea or Paul be saved from the block?

I sort of hope that one of the Pauls go home, just for ease of typing purposes.

Recap – I guess “Returners” is the official term for the Vets.  I don’t care for it.  Nicole nominated Jozea and Paulie, as the pawn.  BB Roadkill, is the new Sunday competition – Frank won it and nominated Paul.

My wife is informing me that Bronte has been saying some real racist shit, towards James.  Not cool Bronte!

Jozea wants to get Paulie out, as he is Cody’s brother from an earlier season.  Paul is going to come after the person who nominated him, I’m not sure how he’s going to figure that out.  A few noobies think it was Michelle who nominated Paul – so silly.

oh Jozea is in for a rude surprise, he is not as beloved as he thinks he is!

Nicole tries to make sure Paul is okay but he loves eating his giant pickle so he can’t make time to listen to the HoH, not a great game move.

Jozea is in the room with Da’vonne, James and Zakiyah  – trying to guess at who is the winner of BB Roadkill – even though all three of them know it is Frank.  He’s wasting their time!

Paul sees Bridgette and Paulie doing dishes, they are on the same team but Paul thinks there is so much more to it.  He’s spiraling!

Natalie and Bronte get some game talk, I really need them to provide subtitles for all of the whispering.  Natalie needs to leave the noobie side and the Spy Girls alliances, if she wants to win this game.

PoV Competition Players! How is this going to work with already HoH and three nominees, who will draw names?

Nicole – Da’vonne – Corey
Paulie
PaulJozea

Nicole gets to draw the two names, if she pulls her name or one of the three nominee names, that person gets to pick who plays.  Nicole picked her own name so she choose Corey.

So the competition has Nicole – Da’vonne – Paulie – Corey – all willing to do what Nicole wants.  Paul and Jozea will be fighting for themselves and not each other.

My wife is letting me know that Frank and Nicole made a drunken final two deal.  She’s pretty with it with the live feeds.

8 Pack can easily run this house, they have the numbers and most of the strength.

James pranking Paul by putting shaving cream in his hands.  Classic sleepover prank, though it never happened to me.  My wife is letting me know that this turns into a giant fight – that I’m sure is going to be shown later.  Paul’s reaction pretty much mirrors my disinterest.

PoV Comp!  Michelle is the host!

They are all in dog costumes.  Nicole is becoming smitten with Corey.

They have to spin 15 times and build a puzzle, meanwhile, they have to go back and forth through a doggie tunnel thing and hit the button to give them more time.  This much more complicated than this comp has been in the past.  If they don’t hit the button in time, they are eliminated.

They have 60 seconds to work before having to go back and hit the button.

From left to right –
Corey – Paulie – Paul – Nicole – Jozea – Da’Vonne

Nicole is getting super dizzy!  The bulldog heads look like some money was spent on them.  Paul wins the competition!  He’s the first PoV winner and I’m slowly growing out of like with Paul.

Since Paul was the BB Road Kill nominee, it is Frank who gets to pick the new nominee.  I had forgotten that Frank was Sid Vicious’ son.  A wrestler that I don’t really know, outside of recognizing his name.  Wikipedia doesn’t have a handy list of the teams.  Which is pretty disappointing.  Pretty fun though that James – Nicole (the second time) – Frank, were all voted out seventh in their respected seasons.  That’s where I noticed Frank had his own Wikipedia page.

People congratulate Paul on his victory.  Jozea believes this is step one in getting him safe.  I would think that there would be a rule where if the BB Road Kill nominee wins PoV, Production just keeps the two HoH’s nominees and not worry about a replacement nominee.

Bridgette, in DR, reveals that with two teams safe, there isn’t many options for Frank to choose  They are –
Frank – Michelle – Da’Vonne, Zakiyah – Bridgette

So Frank isn’t going to nominate himself is fellow 8 Pack folks so it has to be Bridgette.

Tiffany reveals to Paulie that she’s Vanessa’s sister, so the two siblings of former houseguests now know each other’s truth.  In the house, I believe now that means only Paulie, Da’vonne and Michelle know Tiffany’s secret.  Her secret being, that she’s capable of being the worst as Vanessa was the worst.

Jozea believes he is the messiah of the house, something I’m not even sure how that would work.  In DR, Frank disagrees.  Jozea thinks he is the leader of the house, so he tries to get everyone to vote out Paulie.  Oh Jozea, house meetings never go well for the host.  Seems super awkward how those not invited are aware of the big housemeeting.

Spy Girls send Bridgette to the HoH to chat up with Nicole while Natalie and Bronte attend Jozea’s meeting.  James sneaks in and people are cool with it.  Victor, Paul and Zakiyah are also in the room along with Tiffany and Da’vonne.  James points out how dumb this move is, as Jozea believes everyone in that room is in a big alliance, when they really are not.  He’s providing all of this potential enemies know his entire game.

Frank was purposely not invited, so he is in the HoH room with a sad meeting along with Nicole, Paulie and Bridgette.  Paulie knows he isn’t going home so he can just be chillin’.

I would try to keep all of my Big Brother costumes, if I was on the show.  I’ll try to keep whatever I could.

Paulie tries to ask Jozea, Paul and Victor about the house meeting – he knows they won’t tell him but he’s trying to show how silly they are.  I want Jozea gone so much, he’s not that entertaining.  He’s the Da’vonne of this season.  She’s really pulled back in her return season.

My poor wife, the edit shows don’t offer her anything new except for better angles.  Not even Thursday live shows offer much, if the votes are so well known.  She’s excited about the minutes after Thursdays episode as it should be live feeds gold.  I’m hoping we can still watch it at 11:15pm but I imagine it will be on after midnight.  With how hot it has been, we may still be up.  If the next HoH competition is an endurance comp, the live feeds are super exciting!  Well, the potential is there.

Paul is gone and Frank nominated . . . Bridgette – she was really his only choice.

BB18 Pool Bridgette

Bridgette has this Betty Rubble look to her that I sort of dig.

Betty Rubble

It is all I can think about, when she is on the screen.

Groot 6 Recap

We skipped issue five, so this is what we missed.  Pretty much, Groot and his new pals saved Rocket from Eris, now they are back on track to visiting Earth.

As the two fly away, Eris plans on a rematch.  Rocket wakes up Groot, as they have arrived on my favorite planet.  The first hero they come across is Spider-Man, with Iron Man flying in the background.  The two of them have a list, as they took suggestions from their friends.  Quill recommends they check out one of his favorite country bands.

Carol lets them stay in her place, which is in the head of the Statue of Liberty.  She also tells them to watch a movie and eat a pizza.  They end up watching one of the Star Wars films.  I imagine, New Hope.  They have a fun exchange over who is Chewbacca and who is Han Solo.  I like that Rocket doesn’t know what a movie is, which does feel like an Earth form of entertainment.

Gamora and Drax recommend that the two get into a super villain battle.  With one punch, Groot takes out The Clam.  Rocket doesn’t think this should count.  So they go after Scorpion, Sauron, Whirlwind, Grey Gargoyle, a Reaver and Razorback – I had to look up that last one.

http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Groot_Vol_1_6

Groot’s heart isn’t into the fight, Rocket is having a great time.  Scorpion isn’t the man I’m thinking, he states that he found the costume in a landfill.

Groot 6 Kitty Pryde 1

Groot wants to get back on track, to find the Earth lady who was kind to him, in the past.

Before they get to that, Kitty Pryde had a recommendation.

Groot 6 Kitty Pryde 2 Lockheed

Kitty wants them to party with the X-Men!  Which includes Lockheed, yay!  I also like how Kitty got to party with them.

Pretty great turn out, of X-Men.  Beast is there, as is Nightcrawler, Dazzler and Jubilee.  Colossus, Wolverine’s chrome corpse statue (but not in the position he should be in), Glob Herman, Broo, Iceman and Quentin Quire.

We get a very terrific moment with Teen Scott talking to Teen Jean, he’s so awkward.  To make it better, Groot gets to finally talk to someone, with words us readers can understand.  Groot repeats a compliment Scott told him and now Jean will help him find his friend.

We get a flashback to how horrible Groot’s people are.  Groot is the Warlock, of his people.  At one point, the a human girl was taken prisoner.  Groot gave her a flower and befriended her.  Helping her escape, he got beaten but not before giving her a pretty bouquet of flowers.

Groot eventually left his people and found the Guardians, and has been pretty happy ever since.  But now he wants to find that little girl.  Turns out, the flashback was between fifty and sixty years ago as that little girl is pretty old now.

The two of them have a nice chat, under the tree that she planted with the flowers he gave her.  As the issue ends.

Groot 6 Letters Page

Not only does the issue end, but the entire series is now over.  Of the six issues, I only didn’t buy issues one and five – I know Hastings has those issues – I may just end up going back and getting those as this was a pretty good series.

There are nice letters from the creative team – Jeff Loveness (writer), Brian Kesinger (Artist), Jefff Eckleberry (Letterer) and Devin Lewis (Editor).
