Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3

Writer Sam Humphries

Artist Alti Firmansyah

Colorist Jessica Kholinne

Letters VC’s Joe Sabino

Cover Yasmine Putri

I had to add Kris Anka’s variant to my Wishlist.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 1

I really like Sabino’s commitment to making their speech balloons are upside down, along with them.  AoA Shadowcat and Peter Quill are blaming each other, for their present situation.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 2

Gambit corrects them, they are both to blame.  Gambit, correctly, assumes that Quill is Pryde’s sidekick.  He denies, this, though he is willing to be Thor’s sidekick.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 3

Gambit likes to remind Pryde of their time together in Higher Avalon.  I like how he wants to put a Spider-Man mask, on her.  They make references to the other domains, as they are in the know.

There is a huge KLANG and Gambit goes to investigate.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Lockheed

Shadowcat explains why she is powerless against Widget.  When God Doom created Battleworld, he knew he would be having duplicated heroes.  I guess he also figured they would eventfully meet and wanted to make sure that any fights, will have to be bad arse.

Look at those various Shadowcats!  A teenage one, maybe from House of M.  Ultimate Shadowcat.  Black Queen, from Mutant X – so great!  AoA Shadowcat, in the center, as she is the star of this series.  Widget, from the Proper Marvel Universe or that one from the Uncanny X-Force storyline when they went to the Captain Britain Corps (Otherworld).  issues 20 – 23.  Proper Kitty Pryde, from the costume and the awesome Lockheed!  Finally, there is a Tigra Shadowcat, which is pretty fun.

Quill gets a plan, since Widget is a Kitty Pryde, it should be attracted to him – so he starts a flirtmance.

He sings, as he always does, Once Upon A Dream – from Cinderella.

Thanks to YouTuber DisneyMusicVEVO for hosting the video.

It totally works and Widget and Quill kiss!

Gambit comes back, he couldn’t find anything except for a tacky white jacket.

Since it worked, Widget has let StarKat go.  Shadowcat tries to stab Gambit, we are told more about the actual mission in Avalon.  Gambit stole the Sword of the Knight Crawler (get it?) so that must be how he screwed her over.  The knife she tried to use, was one of the Longshot knives so it bounces off of Gambit.  It bounces from Gambit, off of Shadowcat, off the head of a statue of God Doom, nearly misses Widget and it slices Quill’s right arm.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Possible Uncanny X-Men 141 Homage

What a fun and soft homage to Uncanny X-Men 141.  At first, I didn’t think it was suppose to be that, but the posters of God Doom and Shadowcat’s outstretch arm, seals the deal.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 4

God Doom appears and scares Gambit.  I keep typing it “Gabmit” does anyone else do that?

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 5

With a nasty upper cut, Gambit is taken out.  Shadowcat starts trying to explain the situation.  I take it, that she deals more with Valeria, his daughter.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 6

God Doom was really Fun Loving Drax, which I’m sure must be super illegal!

Later.  Quill and Drax want to know what has been in the briefcase, this entire time.  She reveals what it is . . . A tail!  Quill instantly recognizes that it is his old pal, Rocket’s tail!  Apparently, there is a rumor that Rocket’s tail is fake, if that makes any sense.

Twenty minutes later, Quill is still hugging the tail.  Drax reveals that he left Gambit in front of a defaced God Doom poster, Doom Sux.  The Thors arrive, the penalty for defiling the image of God Doom, with a typo, is . . . DEATH!  I sort of love the concept of that rule book, with that cause in it.

Shadowcat wants the tail back.  Quill, in a very touching moment, doesn’t want to depart with it.  It is the only piece of home he has, plus of his friend, that he has seen in forever.  Shadowcat can relate, as she isn’t home either.  Quill tries to hand it over, but she lets him keep it.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 7

Look how happy he is!  This comic (and series) has been so great.  Quill proceeds to try to ruin the moment.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 8

Pryde can’t resist anymore, all of that disgust has turn around to attraction.  He guesses at what it was, that turn her.

Star Lord and Kitty Pryde 3 Shadowcat 9

It was his puppy dog eyes.  She does love that song, good thing Disney films are everywhere.  Pryde leaves, stating that she hopes he doesn’t get himself killed.

Drax hears Quill’s real name, as he was using “Steve Rogers” as an alias.  Drax knew he wasn’t a variant of Captain America, as Rogers has never had a singing voice.

Issue ends with the two guys joking, Quill wants an army of Rockets.

This has been one of the best series to come out of Secret Wars 2015.  From the writing, to the art, to the coloring, the atmosphere has just been pure fun.

CHARACTER VARIANT COVER BY PHIL NOTO (APR160865)
This is the one everyone will be talking about! One of the biggest heroes in the Marvel Universe will fall! Who it is and how and why will divide fans for years to come. Will the heroes of the Marvel Universe survive the unthinkable happening? The fallout to this issue is enormous!
40 PGS./RATED T+ …$4.99 (APR160862)

CIVIL WAR II #4 (OF 7)
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • DAVID MARQUEZ (A)
Cover by MARKO DJURDJEVIC
VARIANT COVER BY MICHAEL CHO
CONNECTING BLACK & WHITE VIRGIN VARIANT E COVER BY KIM JUNG GI
CHARACTER VARIANT COVER BY PHIL NOTO
Sides are harshly divided as the Marvel Universe’s trial of the century reaches its shocking verdict! Now, the abstract issues are very real for the heroes of the Marvel Universe and battle lines must be drawn. Captain Marvel or Iron Man, who will each hero stand behind?
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

A death a legal drama, this might be interesting.

CIVIL WAR II: KINGPIN #1 (OF 4)
MATTHEW ROSENBERG (W) • RICARDO LOPEZ ORTIZ (A)
Cover by AARON KUDER
VARIANT COVER BY ESAD RIBIC
YOUNG VARIANT COVER BY SKOTTIE YOUNG
BLACK PANTHER 50th ANNIVERSARY VARIANT COVER BY JAMIE MCKELVIE
An Inhuman with the ability to predict the future has helped the heroes of the Marvel Universe clamp down on crime before it can even happen. While this thwarts most criminals, one man has found a way to keep doing what he does best. Wilson Fisk has managed to stay one step ahead of the good guys and his crime enterprise is BOOMING. But what’s his secret?! Rising stars Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home) and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Wolf) present a gritty, street-level view of CIVIL WAR II starring the Kingpin in a world without crime!
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

So Civil War II is about an Inhuman, and sounds like it could be the only from Agents of SHIELD, three episodes ago.  This seems super missable to me.

CIVIL WAR II: CHOOSING SIDES #2 (of 6)

DECLAN SHALVEY, MARCO RUDY & MARGUERITE SAUVAGE (A)

CIVIL WAR II: CHOOSING SIDES #3 (of 6)
DECLAN SHALVEY, CHUCK BROWN & MORE (W)
DECLAN SHALVEY, CHRIS VISIONS & MORE(A)
Cover by JIM CHEUNG and DECLAN SHALVEY
VARIANT COVER BY JAMIE McKELVIE
• The trial of the century! Even with the eyes of the Marvel Universe upon them, neither side is backing down…
• Featuring Nick Fury, The Punisher and Kate Bishop!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Hey, Goliath came back!  Here is hoping he can survive this Civil War.  Was Nick Fury in the first issue?  I’ll be skipping these too but I do like the idea of the major death having fallout into other series – as it should.  Hopefully we don’t get delays with the main title and everything gets pushed back.

Marvel July 2016 Solicitations Civil War II X-Men 2 David Yardin
Art by David Yardin

CIVIL WAR II: X-MEN #2 (of 4)
CULLEN BUNN (W) • ANDREA BROCCARDO (A)
Cover by DAVID YARDIN
VARIANT COVER BY VICTOR IBANEZ
• An Inhuman with the power to profile the future has emerged, upsetting the delicate balance of power between the Inhuman and Mutant nations.
• And the mutant master of magnetism, MAGNETO refuses to allow his people to fall by the wayside.
• Now, Magneto rallies those who would follow him to even the scales…even if it means risking war with Inhumans and Mutants alike to do it!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Magik is on this cover too so I’m locked in.

ALL-NEW WOLVERINE #10
TOM TAYLOR (W) • IG GUARA (A)
Cover by BENGAL
CIVIL WAR II TIE-IN!
• Which side will WOLVERINE choose when a terrible prophecy puts someone she loves into the crosshairs of her allies? How far is LAURA willing to go to protect her loved ones?
• Teaming up with OLD MAN LOGAN, Laura is prepared to fight the very future itself to change her destiny.
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

So is this Inhuman  just handing out fortunes?  I imagine that would help Iron Man’s cause – it also sort of sounds like the idea of Original Sin, but with future stories instead of fake past stories.

THE TOTALLY AWESOME HULK #8
GREG PAK (W) • ALAN DAVIS (A/C)
CIVIL WAR II TIE-IN!
• BRUCE BANNER was cured from his gamma-irradiated curse…
• AMADEUS CHO thought he was smart enough to handle
the curse!
• Is he one in a long line of HULKS that face certain tragedy?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

So Banner was cured by just handing it to Cho?  That’s one way to do it plus it sets up how easily Banner can become Hulk again.

ACTION FIGURE VARIANT COVER BY JOHN TYLER CHRISTOPHER

Cover by DAN PANOSIAN
• Another guest issue while Joe Kelly and Ed McGuinness get ahead on their epic story!
• In the Deadpool tradition, we present a “lost” issue of the Amazing Spider-Man!

• Don’t be a flake – beat feet to your shop and order now! This issue is a real solid gas!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Will Deadpool reference the amazing issue 11 of his first ongoing where he went back in time with Blind Al and visited 60s Spider-Man?  He really should!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #15

BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • VALERIO SCHITI (A)
Cover by ARTHUR ADAMS
DEATH OF X VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• GALAXY’S MOST WANTED comes to its rip-roaring conclusion!
• The Guardians are rejoined by ANGELA!!!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Is that Kitty with the blue Western mask on?  I’m not really loving that, even drawn by Art Adams.  I do like Kitty and Angela on the same time, she can join the team and get some more ladies on the team, that would be great.  Also, what is with all of these Death of X variant covers?  Must be the X-Crossover after Apocalypse Wars.

CARLO BARBERI (A)
Cover by Gary Choo
THE CONCLUSION OF THE HERMETIKUS SAGA!
• All three generations of the Guardians of the Galaxy, reunited and ready for action!
• It took two thousand years’ worth of Guardians of the Galaxy just to face Hermetikus, is there any hope of stopping him?
• The FINAL TRIAL approaches! If any Guardians SURVIVE, can they escape with their bodies and minds intact?
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

It states “all three generations” so could Kitty be coming back to this title?

ROCKET RACCOON & GROOT #7
NICK KOCHER (W)
Michael Walsh (A)
Cover by DAVID LOPEZ
PUTTING THE FUN BACK IN FUNERAL!
I’m SORRY — you found that poor in taste? Well, maybe we’re using humor to avoid facing our grief over the death of Rocket Raccoon’s mentor in con-artistry! Who’s insensitive NOW? Did you even KNOW Rocket had a confidence-man mentor? Look, let’s start over and try to be more understanding. It’s a new era for the Guardians of the Galaxy’s most non-humanoid characters, and we’re kicking it off with this story by NICK KOCHER of comedy duo BriTANicK, so of CORPSE it’s going to DIE-larious! We’re just going to miss this character — an all-new insight into Rocket’s mysterious past — so much!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

This paragraph has lots of highs and lows!

TRUE BELIEVERS: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – GALAXY’S MOST WANTED #1

These two issues were pretty good and well worth the dollar each.

VOTE LOKI #2
CHRISTOPHER HASTINGS (W) • LANGDON FOSS (A)
Cover by TRADD MOORE
VARIANT COVER BY DAVE JOHNSON
• Presidential candidate Loki Laufeyson is finding it hard to roll with the punches of the campaign trail. As if proving his eligibility isn’t hard enough, the media has started the HORRIBLE rumor that his Super P.A.C. is actually a cult under Loki’s control!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

• Mole Man has fallen in love with Squirrel Girl, and he’s holding the world hostage until she goes on a date with him!
• MOLE MEN, am I right??
• Watch as Squirrel Girl gains the help of an unlikely ally! Thrill as two people kiss! BUT WHICH TWO??
• You’ll have to buy the issue to find out, so all I’ll say right now is this:
• IN THIS ISSUE THERE IS A NON-ZERO CHANCE FOR EVERY MARVEL SHIP TO BECOME CANON!!
• “Ship” is short for “relationship,” in case you thought I was talking about, like, Galactus’ “Star Sphere” or Mr. Fantastic’s “Fantasticship” or whatever.
• Anyway, enjoy!!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Mole Man has to be, what, thrice her age?  Unimaginable!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #12
JEFF LEMIRE (W) • HUMBERTO RAMOS (A/C)

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

UNCANNY X-MEN #10
CULLEN BUNN (W) • KEN LASHLEY (A)
Cover by GREG LAND
DEATH OF X VARIANT COVER BY TBA
“APOCALYPSE WARS” CONCLUSION!
• The villainous Apocalypse, accompanied by his Four Horsemen, once preached the gospel of “Survival of the Fittest.”
• And now, the Son of Apocalypse has reared his ugly head, joined by an army of Archangels of Death, hell-bent on preaching a gospel of his own: the Survival of NONE.
• Can Psylocke and Magneto save their teammate Archangel and prevent the maniacal GENOCIDE from living up to his name?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

So All New takes place in the past, Extraordinary is in the future and Uncanny is in the present.  That’s one way to have them all be under the same umbrella but not make people buy the other series.  That’s what I’m hoping to do.

OLD MAN LOGAN #8 & 9
JEFF LEMIRE (W) • ANDREA SORRENTINO (A/C)
ISSUE #8 – DEATH OF X VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• The night the villains joined forces and overcame the world’s heroes was the night that Wolverine’s life irrevocably changed. He lost his friends, his purpose, and all that was left was the Wasteland.
• Now, Old Man Logan has found himself in the past, before the Wasteland, and he lives with the fear that the Villain Uprising may yet come to pass.
• And he just may just be right.
32 PGS. (EACH)/Parental Advisory …$3.99 (EACH)

So this solict doesn’t state anything but the mission statement, bold!

Now that I’ve seen the film, it is amazing they are going to squeeze that film into 64 pages. I see now that it is five issues now.

Cover by JACK KIRBY
A military machine with a soul, a thinking computer in the form of a man — X-51 is the Machine Man! The military wants to strip him apart, and mankind doesn’t understand him — but in exploits crafted by two of the medium’s greatest talents, he’ll still redefine humanity. Few comic books were lucky enough to be graced by the work of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Machine Man never saw an issue that wasn’t illustrated by one of these creative titans. Now, the complete MACHINE MAN epic is collected for the first time, and in one complete volume! Collecting MACHINE MAN (1978) #1-19 and INCREDIBLE HULK (1968) #235-237.
440 PGS./Rated T …$39.99
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9577-1

Machine Man had both Kirby and Ditko as artist in his run, how come he isn’t more of a mainstray!?!  I liked him in Earth 2 and his ongoing in the late 90s.

Siege V2 3

Writer Kieron Gillen

Artist Filipe Andrade

Color Artist Rachelle Rosenberg

Double Page Spreads Julian Totino Tedesco; Juan Jose Ryp & Andy Troy; Michael Wm. Kaluta & Rachelle Rosenberg

Letterer VC’s Clayton Cowles

The Shield.  Fun joke on the credit page, about the title of the series being about how the story is about a siege, on the Shield.

Siege V2 3 Kitty Pride Lockheed

I believe this double page spread is is done by Julian Totino Tedesco, based off of the TT on the far right.  Pretty great spread!

Not only do we get the hive mind blue Kitty Pride, we also get a pretty large Lockheed!  I do like how Gillen combined Nick Fury with the Fury, old school Captain Britain villain.  Pretty clever!

Brand has sent a request to the barons of Battleworld, send aid now!

Marvel put the pull out ad in the middle of another double page spread.  Super awkward.  The Summers Clones take on Nick the Fury.

Scott tells Brand that he is down to the final 100.  I need to start using “fluster of clucks” as it is fun to both write and say.  Kang is trying to figure out a way to use the timestream to take out Fury.  Brand uses Thing to transport them to the Units.  We learn that the Units are in love with each other, so they are committed to ending Fury and the army of Ultrons.

The Units don’t do that great of a job, taking out Fury but they slow him down.  Kate Bishop and Ms. America don’t stand up, much better, against Fury.  This is all a good distraction, as Kang grabs Fury The Fury and goes through time.

The plural of Units is Unite, apparently.

Kang uses the chronomines to hurt Fury, which actually works.  With Fury out the way, now they have to deal with the Perfection (the army of Ultrons) but they are prepared for that.  The only problem, now, is that they barely survived the fight with Fury.

Siege V2 3 Magik 1

Good thing Magik and Leah arrive!  I’m so glad that Magik lives!  I do like the idea of them traveling on a giant Colossus.

Siege V2 3 Magik 2

I’m not sure who provided the art, for this double page spread.

Through Abigail Brand’s War Journal, we learn the motivation of Illyana and Leah.  Essentially, it boils down to them being in love.  Doom doesn’t care about anything, south of the Shield.  So the two demonic queens fled their domains and dove into the southern realms.

The two are married now, great for them!  They are also in control of the Marvel Zombies.

Siege V2 3 Magik 3

It is great to see Magik, not evil like in Inferno and in the present day of the pages of this series.  Baby Magik, in Giant Size Little Marvel AvX, has been adorable.

The ladies are not going to rejoin the team, they will not serve God Doom, at all.

Siege V2 3 Magik 4

Brand threatens to out them to Doom, but they all know she won’t.

Kang returns, triumphant.  Kang and Brand have a nice hug.

The issue ends with Thanos, the real deal, arriving on the scene.  He surrenders himself to Brand and Kang.

“Time Before the Fall of the Shield : 1 Day and Counting.  There is No Hope.”

Pete Wisdom

Posted by John Klein III on April 19, 2016
Posted in: Uncategorized. Leave a comment

There was a time that Pete Wisdom would have been, by far, Kitty Pryde’s best boyfriend.  Depending on how Peter Quill, Star Lord of the Guardians of the Galaxy, works out – Pete may end up being a close second.

I always have a soft spot for good ol’ Pete Wisdom.  Black Air spy who got tired of the game and joined Excalibur.

Wisdom first appeared in Excalibur 86, cover dated February 1995.  I have his latest appearance being Wolverine 6, cover dated July 2014.  I can’t believe he is a 19 year old character now.

He has made over 133 appearances in those 19 years – which isn’t that much now that I have written it out.

Of the issues of his that I own and want, I own 89 of those appearances.  Which clocks me in at owning 67 percent of his appearances.  I’m only missing two – Gambit 17 (from his latest series in 2014) and Revolutionary War : Omega.

What helps of course, is owning every issue of Excalibur and New Excalibur.

What hurts the collection is that after Excalibur ended, he went over to X-Force and I only own two of those issues of the ten.  Next, is the three part tie in to House of M that Uncanny X-Men did.  Wisdom was treated to his own miniseries, of which I only own the first and last issue of.

The nice thing about Wisdom is that he thinks of Kitty often, and I’m a fool for buying all things Kitty, so I own those references or mentions or thoughts.

Then Captain Britain and MI13 came out, of that 15 issue run, I only own issues 4 and 7.

From there, Wisdom makes odd appearances in Age of Heroes, Deadpool Team-Up, Steve Rogers : Super-Solder, Spitfire, Fear Itself : Wolverine.

Apparently he really likes Gambit as he appeared in a few issues of his 2012 series as well as 2014.  I’m sure the real motivation is that Gambit went to England and if you go to England, you run into Pete Wisdom.

X-Men : Legacy by Simon Spurrier comes out and Magik shows up as often as Wisdom did but I missed out on issue 13.

Finally, Revolutionary War happen and Wisdom is in three of those.  I was really hoping that would be the place where we could have a nice Excalibur reunion but that didn’t happened.

So that’s my Pete Wisdom collection and why I don’t own his other material.  I thought for sure it would be higher than 67% but that isn’t that bad.

Now that Marvel Database is in my life, I’m going to go through those 44 issues and make sure that Kitty isn’t referenced in those.

Now I can breathe a sigh of relief!  None of those issues have a Kitty reference.  Though, and I know that site is run by fans, the Kitty reference in Captain Britain and MI13 issue 4, isn’t included on that page.  Someone will add it eventually – I’m sure.

From Shameless, Season Six Episode Three, the episode title is also “The F Word”

Thanks to ridvan sari for hosting this video.

Gus is Fiona’s ex-husband, played by Steve Kazee.

Such a great song and this was yet another messed up season for Fiona.

Inferno 4

Writer Dennis Hopeless

Art Javier Garron

Colors Chris Sotomayor

Letters VC’s Joe Sabino

Inferno 4 Illyana

Hopeless makes the good call to have this issue open with a pleasant memory of Illyana, as she has nearly killed the X-Men last issue.

Limbo, Now.  Colossus is force to look outside of the barrier and see a destroyed New York City.

Inferno 4 Darkchilde 1

Darkchild is walking the streets, like the boss that she is!  Look at those goat legs!  She has nicknamed the deformed Nightcrawler, Bamfy.  Darkchild is growing stronger, as she stands on this side of the field.

Inferno 4 Darkchilde 2

Longshot is sneaking around, thinking he has a chance to take on Darkchild.  Which, with his luck powers, his chances may be pretty good.

Inferno 4 Darkchilde 3

The top panel confirms that this issue takes place before Secret Wars 2015 5.  Strange is here to offer Darkchild the position of Baron.  Scott Summers is no longer fit for the job, as the domain is clearly no longer under his control.

Meanwhile.  Jean seeks out Scott, as he is in his own head – making plans.  Longshot interrupts their conversation, to tell Scott that he is no longer Doom-chosen.  Even with this news, Scott doesn’t want to abandon the city.

Scott is tired, they allowed Illyana to take Limbo and now, after five years, she’s taking New York.  They shouldn’t allow this to progress, as there will be no place to hide.

Bamfy brings the demon horde to the remaining X-Men.

Elsewhere, In Limbo.  Colossus, Domino and their new alliance with Madelyn Pryor, Havok and young Nathan Summers.  They are trying to get to the end of Limbo, but in seven blocks, they have fought five groups of demons.  They are losing goblins (as Maddie is the Goblin Queen) but Maddie doesn’t seem to mind.  They get respawned after five days.  Sym is part of this traveling band, so he is going to try to undermine the team.  That’s what Sym do.  Havok is prepared to shut him down.  Maddie needs to take the fight to Illyana, as the alternative is to wait around until a super strong Illyana comes to rule the entire domain.

Meltdown comes out of the ground, to rejoin Colossus and Domino.  They are happy to see that she isn’t dead, like they thought.  Tabitha takes the Limbo folks into the sewers.  Maddie doesn’t really like the idea, but who would?

Madelyn is suspicious of why Boom Boom isn’t more hurt.  Tabitha had her guts hanging out of her, but she is ready for round two.

Colossus hears demons and knocks down a sewer wall, which I’m not sure if that was the best way to handle the situation.  Are sewer walls expendable?  I would imagine they are serving an important function.  Bamfy is leading the demons.  By knocking down the wall, Colossus’ side and Madelyn’s side have joined the X-Men.  Jean is overwhelmed by Bamfy, as she doesn’t want to hurt her friend.  Plus, she’s the weaker of the two, between her and Madelyn.  I do like how much Pryor has about how Kurt is dead as she tames Bamfy.

Colossus cuts down the head of Darkchild’s lieutenant, a horse heade red demon, with wings.  Once that is over, Colossus takes the time to apologize to Scott, as Scott was right about his sister.

Cyclops straights blasts the dude, as OF COURSE HE WAS RIGHT!!!   Darkchild has been tormenting peeps for years and they were losing people, trying to reach out to her.  Colossus feels like he has been blasted enough, so he clearly doesn’t know how much damage his little snowflake has truly caused.

Mister Sinister arrives, with his own demon horde.  He introduces himself, as he doesn’t believe he has met all of them.  I’m not sure how that lines up with the original timeline but I’ll take it for the truth.  Goblin Queen is surprised that Sinister lives, she thought Havok killed him.  Havok had that same thought.

Two page house ad for 50 Years of SHIELD, which is pretty amazing.  I do like how the characters of the Agents of SHIELD show are now proper Marvel characters.  Of the six issues spotlighted, I’ve bought SHIELD 10.

Tabitha vouches for Sinister, as he saved her.  She tells them that Sinister’s demon horde are actually clones of Tabitha, and I figure they must have demon blood in them.  Maybe it is goblin blood, now that I think of it.  They are definitely red.  Sinister explains that they are a mix of Tabitha’s blood and three succubus, and they are a mutant / demon hybrid clone army.  He also reveals that he has tinkered with Tabitha’s brain, to make her more subservient.  Explaining one of the bigger reasons why I don’t care for Sinister.

Issue ends with Sinister stating that he will be the heroes’ villain later, today, he is their savior.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4

Words and Art Skottie Young

Colors Jean-Francois Beaulieu

Letters Jeff Eckleberry

The tradition of opening each issue with a song, continues.  This one is largely about Cyclops – which is nice.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 1

This issue picks up where the last issue ended, with the Guardians of the Galaxy becoming the third group for the twins to choose from.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 2

Cyclops and Iron Man are yelling at each other.  The X-Men turned the twins into temporary mutants, when they were like that, they broke Iron Man’s new suit of armor. Captain America shows everyone that Wolverine is an Avenger.  This annoys Cyclops, so much!  Check out that look from Cyclops to the ashamed Wolverine, so great.

We get the impression that the Guardians are not going to fight anyone, for the twins.

Iron Man asks the twins who they want to join.  Just then, a fourth group arrives.

The pull out ads are for – Extraordinary X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman and Silk.  Pretty decent synergy with the Spider-Folks being the inside fold.  I’m only interested in the first two issues but I’m super interested in them.

The Inhumans have arrived.  There are a couple I don’t recognize.  I do know Lockjaw, Triton (I had to look it up, but it is like the father in Little Mermaid), Black Bolt and Gorgon.  So I don’t recognize anyone on the right side of the page.  The Inhumans are the Royal Family of Marville.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 3

The Inhumans tree house is right next door to the Avengers, making them the middle tree house.  Cyclops is not impress, and I’m not either.  Cyclops, who is very funny in this series, goes on about how the Inhumans like to say the word, Royal, as much as possible.  Medusa will use the word, at least ten more times, before the issue is over.

Good for Lockjaw for not allowing Medusa to further hurt Cyclops, good dog!

Medusa wants to show the twins something that will prove that the Inhumans are the group to join.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 4

This sequence is so great. Skottie Young gets to really lampoon Inhumanity.  The combined kids come across two unsuspecting kids.  A green cloud downpours on top of them, and they are in those green eggs, from the crossover.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 5

I love how pleased Medusa is, and then how much this will eventually backfire on her.  It takes so long for the kids to hatch out of the cocoons.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 6

Those poor two children, they are now Inhumans, gorgeous looking Inhumans.  The twins want the newly created Inhumans to be set on fire.

Cyclops and Magik are laughing so hard, this was the worst decision the Inhumans could have made.  Black Bolt does not like the laughter at all, probably due to being jealous that they can even let out a chuckle.

Black Bolt screams at Cyclops, knocking him a great distance, into a statue of God Doom.  Poor Scott is messed up, and to make matters worst, Doom’s head falls off and lands on Scott’s noggin.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 7

This brings the Avengers and the X-Men together, as Black Bolt was way over the line.  The Guardians really don’t have any interest, anymore, in any of this.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 8

Everyone starts yelling at each other.  The twins want this to stop, as they have no interest in any of the four fractions.

The kid heroes are not done fighting, at all.

Giant Size Little Marvel AvX 4 Magik 9

We are treated to an epic double splash page sequence.  Marvel has to sell this as a poster!  It is amazing!

There are so many great match ups.

Magik v Gamora
Doctor Strange v Brother Voodoo
Drax v Iron Man v Thing
Cyclops v Captain America
Morbius v Blade
Colossus v Vision
Spider-Gwen v Rocket
Wanda v Rogue
Iceman v Black Widow
Spider-Man v Black Bolt
Star Lord v Thor v Beast

Everyone else seems to be floating in space but involved in one sided fights, that I can’t quite make out who they are directed at.

The other pull out ad is for Invincible Iron Man 1 & 2 with Spider-Man 2099 and Chewbacca, four titles I can’t even bring myself to be interested in.  Though Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto, on Chewbacca, is a good creative team.

Zoe closes her eyes and is about to randomly picked a group, when a blur picks up the twins.  There is a fifth group!

Magneto was the blur and he welcomes them to the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.  Loki points out that they are not mutants, so they should go by – Brotherhood of Evil.  Mystique points out that they are not all dudes, so they should go by – Fellowship of Evil.  Except, she doesn’t like how ‘Fellowship’ sounds boyish.

The twins look like they should be somebody, in red shirts and tights with black boots, gloves, shorts, capes and masks.    The Zs make me think they are, Fenris, Baron Strucker’s children.  That isn’t it though, but it is interesting that Fenris’ first names start with A and these twins are Z names.

Such an amazing series!

Bragging Rights : Magik action figue

Posted by John Klein III on April 15, 2016
Posted in: Bragging Rights, Toy. Tagged: Lockheed, Magik. Leave a comment

I own this!

Apparently, at one time, they made a New Mutants line of action figures – a glorious era.  So Magik finally got an action figure (and prior to Kitty Pryde too!).  I like how it came with a Lockheed, what I don’t like is that it is a giant Lockheed that isn’t to scale to Magik so the two toys will never be able to ‘play’ together.

Lockheed, also getting an action figure, prior Kitty.

He gets to spit hot fire which I rarely do but it is fun for nephews to do it and launch the flame behind a couch or otherwise hard to reach area.

Magik action figure

Apparently, you can still purchase this through Amazon and only for $17 – which seems to be a deal!

This is Illyana’s only action figure to date (outside of Heroclix) so sometimes it doesn’t pay to be first.

House of M Volume Two Issue 1

House of M V2 1 Recap

I’ve read the original House of M crossover event but I didn’t follow any of the revisits, until this issue.

The Monarchy of M Domain.  Castle Magnus.  Magnus wakes up, from a flashback that brought on the events.  Magnus had to fight Sentinels and Namor, but now he reigns supreme.  Well, under God Doom but still.

House of M V2 1 Lockheed

We are treated to another page long flashback sequence.  We see him with the original Brotherhood versus the Original X-Men.

The second panel, is what got me to buy this issue.  Lockheed, on the front lines, right there with Magneto!  That’s pretty awesome!  Them and the X-Men (minus Kitty Pryde, from what I can see) are fighting the Reavers.

Finally, the uprising that got Magnus sitting on the throne.  Now, he has the Sentinels working for him.

Meanwhile, Genosha’s Human Quarter.  Josie’s Bar.  The humans include – Luke Cage, Hawkeye, Black Cat, Moon Knight, Elektra, Darkhawk (!), Misty Knight, Iron Fist, Speedball and Bullseye are in attendance.  There are three I can only guess at – Songbird, White Tiger and a guy with racing stripes down his arms – I’m not sure.

Luke Cage wants to take the fight to Magneto and end this nonsense.  Since this plan will go against Magneto’s goals, he has his elite team come in.  Wolverine leads his SHIELD agents – Mystique, Nightcrawler, Rogue and Toad.  Added to the team, in this realm, is Sasquatch and Marrow – who are not bad additions.

SHIELD makes short work of the humans.  Hawkeye gets the upper hand on Nightcrawler.  Black Cat embarrassingly defeats Toad, in an awesome sequence.  Wolverine chops off Misty Knight’s arm but don’t worry, it is her mechanical arm.

I really like the choice of not showing Hawkeye defeating Kurt, they teleport outside and (with a page flip) Hawkeye comes barging through the wall in a car.  Hawkeye shots a pair of arrows into Wolverine’s head and he runs away with Black Cat and Misty Knight.

Meanwhile.  Wanda and Polaris are eating breakfast.  Quicksilver arrives, he’s suppose to be at the trade negotiations with Atlantis.  Wanda is screaming at her children, to join her, at the table.  Quicksilver is in Atlantis, as Magneto can’t stand Namor.  Wiccan and Speed are not at the table, as they are performing a stunt, downtown.  Wanda is so mad that she breaks through the wall, using that HoM brick effect, and flying off on some of those bricks.  Quicksilver takes off too.

Later.  On the titantrons, in Times Square – Black Cat, Hawkeye and Misty Knight’s images are on the screens.  They know they don’t have much of a chance, especially as a Sentinel arrives and tries blasting at these dudes.  They run past a talking dumpster.  In the dumpster is Deathlocket (son of Deathlok, it looks like) and he electrocutes the Sentinel.

The issue ends with Lorna trying to warn her father that Quicksilver is up too something.  Magneto doesn’t seem to care, he’s all for the worst case scenario – war with Atlantis.

Under the sea, where the seaweed is always greener and it is better where it is wetter – Quicksilver and Namor are coming to an agreement.  Next issue promises an invasion, so that should be fun.

Cover Artist Keu Cha

Cover Dated 2006

A year ago, we lost Herb Trimpe and today, we look back at another comic that I have of his.

All New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A - Z 8 Herb Trimpe Outlaw Kid

Unfortunately, Trimpe only has one spotlight that features his art.  Outlaw Kid, a character I really enjoyed in Blaze of Glory, a series that I would buy another sequel of, at any given time.  He was also used to nice effect in Dan Slott’s She-Hulk series.

The profile that got me to keep this issue is –

All New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A - Z 8 Thomas Derenick N'Garai

The N’Garai, art by Thomas Derenick.  Which, of course, mentions the incredible and legendary adventure of Kitty Pryde one fateful Christmas Eve.

Other Entries worth mentioning –

Night Nurse, only note worthy due to her inclusion in the Daredevil Netflix series.

The New Warriors’ Night Thrasher gets two pages

The Marvel Proper version of Nighthawk gets two pages

New Warriors’ Nova gets three pages

Orge, who I liked in Thunderbolts, get a page

Onslaught gets a page

Younger Avengers’ Patriot gets two pages

Generation X’s Penance gets a page

Mockingbird rapist, Phantom Rider gets three pages

Genis-Vell, Captain Marvel’s son, who is going by Photon apparently.

Original 66 X-Men villian, Plantman gets a feature.

Runaways’ parents, the Pride, gets a page

Proteus, gets two sweet pages.

The first attempt to try to create a Pre-Captain America in, Protocide, gets a page.  I really dug this guy, back in the day.  He got replaced with other characters, over the years.

Spider-Man off again on again pal and villain, The Prowler gets two pages.

Also getting two apes, Puma!  Who I guess now didn’t pay for the Parker honeymoon now.
