YouTuber elhadi vikx is nice enough to host the entire album –
Which is pretty awesome.
They did have a few music videos that went with the album –
Wherever You Will Go
Thanks to TheCallingVEVO for hosting these videos
Could It Be Any Harder
Adrienne
Their second album, Two (great title!), wasn’t that bad either.
I read somewhere that The Calling is really just Alex Band and Aaron Kamin, without those two, there is no Calling, hence why the second album didn’t get much play as Kamin left.
Alex Band did have a decent run as a solo artist, I really liked
Tonight
Thanks to Alex Band hosting his own video.
Like most lead singers, their solo work just sounds like the band, so I had mistakenly thought that this was a new Calling song, when it first came out. Apparently the band as come together, in 2013, but that didn’t last long – I imagine as Kamin didn’t come back for it.
Thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures for hosting their own trailer.
I still haven’t seen Wonder Woman, there has been hints that I might get the BluRay for Christmas. I’ve heard nothing but good things.
I need to rewatch Batman v Superman again, mostly from the actual fight to ending, as that’ll be the parts I’ll want to see again. That and the gorgeous Gal Gadot’s scenes from earlier in the film. Her face is flawless, or super smooth looking, I don’t know, there is something simply attractive about her. Maybe I’ll just watch the Batman / Bruce Wayne scenes, if only there was a supercut of just that, as that way, I get to see the mini-trailers for Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman, too.
My main takeaway from the trailer was the Heroes (We Could Be) song. A song I first heard the Wallflowers perform for the 1998 Godzilla soundtrack. Then, I was pretty surprised to discovered that it was a David Bowie song.
Thanks to emimusic for hosting the video.
I’ve never been a big fan of David Bowie, outside of Jennifer Connelly’s Labyrinth. I wasn’t exposed to his music, he’s been mostly a legendary name and a character in history that I’m aware of his personality more than his music. To the point where I didn’t even know the Wallflowers were doing a cover for a song. I don’t think anyone mention that, way back in 1998.
Thanks to Wilson Mellizo for hosting the video.
Not only do I associate that song with the Wallflowers, first, but I also associate it with 2001’s Moulin Rouge!
Thanks to norm316 for hosting this video.
The Elephant Melody is my favorite song from the film, and the scene I’ve seen the most. I recall recording this off of MTV or VH1, as the video was super popular. I would rewatch it so many times, as the concept of it, blew me away. Who knew that taking one line from 15 songs would meld so well together. This was years before Glee would popularize (to me) the concept of mishmash-ing songs.
I historically run pretty cold on Nicole Kidman. To the point where I say I’ve only liked her in two films, 1995’s Batman Forever (her hottest role) and Moulin Rouge! I just don’t gravitate to her films. I’ve seen Far and Away (in high school), Practical Magic (it was on ABC Family), Eyes Wide Shut (for Kubrick and LeeLee Sobieski – it was age appropriate as she’s apparently only a year younger than me), The Others (that I hated, like Patch Adams hated), Golden Compass (my wife liked the books and we were promised a trilogy that never came).
She’s apparently going to be in Aquaman as Queen Atlanna (see what they did there?)
She hosted Saturday Night Live once, way back in 1993. With the Stone Temple Pilots as the musical guest. She’s between Rosie O’Donnell and Charlton Heston. Remember when Rosie O’Donnell was way into Tom Cruise? That’s my Rosie O’Donnell knowledge, that and she lends her voice to Tarzan’s buddy in the Disney film.
Thanks to DC and MARVEL for hosting this video. She’s so great in that film.
There, I took you from Justice League to Batman, it so is a full circle.
This was a huge hit! My wife went back for thirds! She claims it is the best thing I’ve made, in a long time.
I pretty much stuck to the recipe, we added an onion, as we like onions. Someone had started eating some of the Nacho Cheese Doritos, so if I had my way, I would have open the bag myself and used half on the bottom and the other half on top. I was told that the person didn’t eat that many of the chips but it felt like only half the bag was available to me. Which, at first, I didn’t mind as I knew we bought the large back of Doritos. Not the family size (or is it party size?) bag but the traditional large bag. Then I looked, and those are the 9.75 ounce bags. So yeah, I would have preferred to use an entire bag and not one that was already opened prior to me needing it as a pretty crucial cooking ingredient.
I should have checked first, which I do with all recipes now, and I also recognize that those bags are 30% air, so it was most likely, hardly eaten. But still, I’ll never know until next time I make this. Which probably will be soon.
We also used Cheddar cheese and next time, I’ll go with the Mexican-blend, to give it that taste I’m sure the recipe wants. Cheddar is nice but the combination of Monterey Jack, Cheddar, Asadero and Queso Quesadilla cheeses, can’t be beat by regular Cheddar!
This was a real joy to prepare as well, everything went smoothly. I might not crush up the chips, as finely as I did, it might be nice to have larger pieces of chips as the finer chips became a big clump on the bottom. Pretty tasty but not that much of a crunch.
. . .
I got to watch six more minutes of Asset’s second episode, so that wasn’t great. Also not great, I had two excellent chances of watch two episodes of Doctor Who and I just played TMNT Legends, instead, so that was dumb of me. I got April O’Neil and Hun unlocked, so that’s nice but I should have watched those episodes instead.
I’m in the middle of episode 66 of Living Between Wednesdays, still loving the heck out of that podcast.
They had Sean Jordan, the Wordburglar, as a guest. He was talking about his latest music video, Channel Halifax.
Thanks to Worldburglar Official for hosting his own video.
It reminds me of Jay Z’s Empire State of Mind, or rather, those amazing parody versions of that song.
Halifax looks amazing, if I ever do my World Tour of Canada, I’ll have to make sure I visit that city. Lots of great recommendations in his song.
Rachelle mentions her love for Winter Soldier, quite often, to the point where I’m starting to really like him, more than I did before. I guess I took him for granted, but I haven’t really read many of his adventures. So I have spent some time on YouTube, watching some Stucky videos. Then she mention how Winter Solider / Black Widow (Winter’s Widow) is Marvel’s Batman and Catwoman. Which made me think that YouTube must have tribute videos for that couple. YouTube did not disappoint!
So I found one video that used Ed Sheeran’s Afire Love and now I love that song, so much!
Thanks to YouTuber Diamond Tributes for combining the song with Prison Break.
Thanks to YouTuber Claire Brown for hipping me to the song to begin with. She only used half of the song and the title “then the devil took your memory” didn’t help me at all! But it was enough to find Ed Sheeran’s song, that man is very talented.
Our next episode of The Office Season Five is The Duel.
Our next episode of Arrow is Season Five’s Bratva.
Our next episode of Person of Interest Season Five’s The Day the World Went Away. We’re in the final four episodes, so we might try to marathon these, if we get the chance. They have been doing done-in-ones with some mythology sprinkled within the episodes but the way Sotto Voce ended, it feels like we should be in for one stellar race to the finale. I’ve already gotten two elements spoiled so I’m mostly waiting to see how that plays out.
That’s pretty much what I did last week, entertainment wise.
Okay, this may just be me and how often I’ve heard this song.
Shawn Mendes’ There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back, thanks to ShawnMendesVEVO for hosting this video.
Gosh, Walker Dennis is obsessed with this song! He just listens to it on a constant loop. So I’ve heard it so many times. It is to the point where I have to make up something so we can leave his Kindle behind after the third playing of it. Or worst, he uses my phone and listens to it there.
At some point, the melody of the song reminds me of Neon Tree’s Sleeping with a Friend
Thanks to NeonTreesVEVO for hosting this video.
Am I crazy or do these two videos share some musicality?
So I was going down a rabbit hole of YouTube videos that I’ll get more into further down this post, when I suddenly had the temptation to search for “Chrono Trigger Rap” and was really surprised what I discovered.
I came across Richie Branson’s Bring Back Chrono –
He hosts his own videos.
YouTube member, Narutokun11, was kind enough to transcribed the lyrics :
Verse 1
If I could travel back in time, like a VHS and rewind
Way before I decided to write my very first rhyme
I’d set my destination back to 1995 when the Super NES was in it’s prime
While everybody waited in line for NBA Live
I was on the grind saving up every quarter and dime
And Chrono Trigger was the game I decided to buy
When I saw that GamePro gave it 5/5
First RPG I ever played, my friends thought it meant Rocket Propelled Grenade
Asking when you coming out to play, used to tell ’em to wait
Cuz I had to save the world from a hell of a fate
So I would time travel
Through many different eras in my Wings of Time and engage in Active Time Battle
Slaughtering each and every opponent like cattle with no hassle
All in the name of Guardia Castle.
Chorus
I really wish that they would bring back Chrono
And Luca, and Magus, and Marle, and Robo
And Ayla, and Frog so you know we never solo
Triple Tech Attack to anybody sayin YOLO
Best flow ever bout the best game ever
Bet you can’t name a recent game made better
I’m reminiscing on the Squaresoft era
Killing beasts in the name of world peace, no meta.
I remember being broke without a thing
Nothing to my name but a pocket full of change, but
All I had was video games, yeah, all I had was video games
Yo I used to play Chrono Trigger each and every day
Hoping that the world would not refuse to change. Why?
Cuz all I had was video games, yeah, all I had was video games.
Verse 2
I never would have thought that when my age was older
That I would rhyme about time machines instead of Range Rovers
I’m killing tracks like I used to kill Fiend Soldiers
No New Game+ it’s game over
I wish I could go back in time and save Left Eye,
And Tupac, and the notorious guy from Bed-Stuy
I’m old school I guess you can call me Reptite
Everything I spit is truth, gotta keep my rep tight
I meant keep a tight reputation
Despite the fact that my rhymes have gamer motivations
I used to play Chrono Trigger with a lot of patience
Played every port from DS to Playstation
If I could say one thing to Square Enix,
I’d tell them resurrect Chrono Trigger like a Phoenix
Down, and if that happened then I would think I’m dreaming
And then I’d get excited and vomit like Willie Beamen.
if the proceeds still go to Extra Life but it is still worth a download.
So great that someone was inspired from one of my favorite games of all time and still being inspired by it today to create amazing songs.
. . .
For the past few nights, I’ve been having trouble sleeping, I’ve been looking up end songs to some of my favorite RPGs over the years.
Legend of Mana –
Thanks to Whoomp VIdya Gaems, for hosting the video!
Song of Mana is sung by Annika Ljungberg.
Star Ocean 2 –
Thanks to Hells616 for hosting this video!
I had like eight save files just so I can play with all the characters and have legitimate teams. I’m sure I four Claude teams and four Rena teams. I want to say I stuck with Rena’s side more, she had Dias.
Man, that’s the game I started my gaming food of yogurt cover raisins and apple juice and just play into the wee hours of the morning. Oh, to be a kid again! Now, I just obsess over my old RPGs, wish that I could play them again and relive the adventure.
That reminded me of Star Ocean 3 : Till The End of Time –
Thanks to Xygor for hosting both videos.
The second one features the song, The Small Bird That Forgot How To Fly” (飛び方を忘れた小さな鳥, Tobikata Wo Wasureta Chiisana Tori) by Misia. Thanks to the Wikipedia page for providing that sentence.
How great is Nel Zelpher in that game? She’s simply the best! I remember buying a game guide for this game and finding out ahead of time that there is a way to not recruit her and I was super worried about messing that up. As I really wanted to keep her on my team, she was by far the best character.
Look at those sweet moves! Thanks to MeykTaruka for hosting that video! Sadly, YouTube doesn’t just have scores of scores of videos about Nel.
. . .
Last night, I was watching these videos, and jumped from those videos to my excitement of FLCL getting brought back for a second and third season. So I thought I’ll look up FLCL best moments or something, to relive the story without having to watch all six episodes. Which I’ve done and I love that show, like crazy, but I didn’t have it available to watch super late at night.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any videos that really had a Top 10 Moments or anything.
I did find this video –
Thanks to akidearest for hosting her video. I was surprised I only knew like three items on there.
Her comment about the Pillows’ music video for Ride On Shooting Star, made me want to watch that video.
Thanks to KING RECORDS for hosting that video.
That video is all types of nuts!
Gosh, I just love the Pillows and can’t believe I haven’t actually seen them before. They are coming back for the additional two seasons, as well.
Then I looked up Pillows English Song and wasn’t surprised they hadn’t recorded any songs in English (why would they, they are amazing!) but somehow I went from that search to Chrono Trigger Rap. Then I made this post!
. . .
Typing about my love for that game, MatPat over at his Game Theory YouTube channel has created two Chrono Trigger videos –
Is Chrono Trigger ‘s Time Travel Accurate?
Now, this was his very first video, so the humor is there but the production isn’t quite there. But there is a charm there that one can (and did) build an empire on top of.
The other video is Chrono Trigger Retells the Bible!?!
Which I hadn’t seen until last night.
MatPat’s channel name is, The Game Theorists
A while back, I came across the Completionist’s video for Chrono Trigger, as it was his 200th completed game –
and spent some time going through his channel afterwards. I like him too but I haven’t played nearly enough games that he has but he has covered quite a few that I’ve played.
His channel is, That One Video Gamer
. . .
Which finally, brings me to Chrono Cross.
If you want to lose a week’s worth of your life, please check out this incredible website –
So much thinking and thoughts have gone into and out of that website!
Here is Chrono Cross’ Final Song –
Thanks to BigTimeHacker for hosting the song.
The song is Radical Dreamers – Unstolen Jewel, sung by Norko Mitose.
Which the visuals there made me want to watch a gameplay footage video. Instead of following that instinct, I choose to see if anyone wanted to try to explain to me the timelines for Chrono Cross, as I felt like that’s what YouTube should be for, explaining timelines in video games from 2000.
Thanks for hosting the video, Terracorrupt!
So that was pretty much like two hours of thoughts. Then, of course, I was writing this post in my head, and that’s when I feel asleep.
This post a little longer than I was originally expecting to make it but I sort of wanted to get all of my thoughts on Chrono Trigger out of the way. Well, the thoughts that got me down the YouTube rabbit hole, anyway, as I could talk about the game for hours.
. . .
Last night, I discovered that Richie Branson is on Pandora, so you can hear his music there, if you would like.
So I keep getting these songs stuck in my head, after watching the film. I wish YouTube and Disney had more official videos from Moana, as I would like to visually see the songs again without having to watch the film and forward to those sections. Here are the three I can find:
Auli’i Cravalho’s How Far I Will Go
Lin-Manuel Miranda and Opetaia Foa’i’s We Know the Way
Dwayne Johnson’s You’re Welcome
DisneyMusicVEVO hosts this video too, thanks!
I get those two words “You’re Welcome” stuck in my head!
Jermaine Clement’s Shiny
Which is probably my favorite song of the film, thus far. It really surprised me with the lyrics and it feels like it is from a different film, altogether. It also is sung by Jermaine Clement, who I really enjoy.
DisneyMusicVEVO hosts all four videos, thank you!
I gave up on @Midnight after they spoiled the death in Force Awakens, like a week after the film came out. But one of my favorite moments from the series is Jermaine Clement
Thanks to Comedy Central for hosting this video!
How Far I Will Go lost the Oscar for Best Song to La La Land’s Star City.
Thanks to YouTuber HuproZ for hosting the song.
I haven’t gotten around to watching La La Land, we look forward to it going onto any of the streaming channels. The song seems okay, if not a tad somber. I’m sure, within the context of the film, it is very powerful. Just not radio worthy.
Now, La La Land’s Another Day in the Sun –
Thanks to YouTuber Deepikara for hosting this video.
This sequence is mind bending good! How did Damien Chazelle and Linus Sandgren accomplish that, along with every single person that was needed for this masterpiece.
You know who else was very funny on @Midnight? Michael Shannon, I wish his introduction was on YouTube.
He had even funnier segments on there but Comedy Central went with this one – which is still pretty funny.
We’ve been on a real music kick during July 2017. Lots of fun songs on the radio.
Julia Michaels – Issues
Thanks to JuliaMichaelsVEVO for hosting this video.
Miley Cyrus – Malibu
Thanks to MileyCyrusVEVO hosting this video. Did not recognize this as a Miley Cryus song, she really is a great singer when she has something to say.
Kesha – Praying
Thanks to keshaVEVO for hosting this video! Kesha is now free of “Dr.” Luke and has also dropped the silly $ from her name. This is such a powerful song, what a way to tell the world that you are back! #FreeKesha #ISupportKesha #StopRapingKesha #DontGetRapedAtWork
Selena Gomez – Bad Lair
Thanks to SelenaGomezVEVO for hosting this video. This was one of those songs that I really liked, only heard like the middle portion of the song and could never hear who sings it. Of course, it would be Selena Gomez. I really like the way she’s dressed in this video, really down to Earth. I guess that she’s 24 (I had to look it up) but she still looks like a 16 year old so I appreciate that she isn’t dressed as sultry as some of her other videos. It is a nice simple song and she dresses for that part. I may also be just an old fuddy duddy too, of course, she can dress however she pleases. I just can’t or shouldn’t watch those videos.
Alessia Cara – Scars To Your Beautiful
Thanks to AlessiaCaraVEVO for hosting this video.
I may just be in a certain mode this month but I’ve really been enjoying these songs on the radio. I may be also listening to Living Between Wednesdays, and those early episodes, I can’t hear them on my phone when it is in my van cup holder – unlike my other podcasts that I can hear just fine. So I’ve been listening to the radio a lot more than I usually do.
Thanks to Mix 102.3 here in Helena for their excellent policy for stating the artist and song title after each and every song. The other stations don’t do this, so I don’t listen to those stations when I’m hunting for information on songs. As I can’t seem to memorize an important lyric enough to go to work or home and Google that particular lyric.
Then I discovered, thanks to YouTube, that someone is nice enough to create a Top 40 playlist and update it weekly (as far as I can tell) so that’s been super helpful. I’ve been missing my days of watching VH1’s Top 20 Countdown and getting to see music videos and staying current.
Thanks to YouTuber Sawyer Brown for hosting their own video!
This is one of those music videos, that for whatever reason, I can’t stop thinking about. My main problem, is that I keep forgetting the band and I have to Google “90s country music video civil war” which is rarely any help. Then one day, the name – Sawyer Brown – popped into my head and now I’m doing this post.
Thanks to YouTuber Khaled Sahraoui for hosting this video!
Back in the 90s, I was way into Country music – I still say 90s Country is my favorite era for the genre. Which I know I will get some flack for as it was the beginning of Pop’s influence on Country but that’s what got me to take notice of them.
So, as I often do, I felt the need to take a side in LeAnn Rimes and Lila McCann. I chose Lila McCann, not the first nor the last time, that I would chose the least popular option but I really like McCann.
My problem, over the years, is that I forget her name or I quasi-remember the song titles and have to attempt to find one and then the other, it isn’t great. So I’m making this post so that I can find it easily.
I’m a very big fan of Sara Bareilles and Brave came out before Roar, by like, weeks. Once Roar was released, and really, only the opening notes are similiar – I was and still am, super disappointed when Roar airs. Of course, Katy Perry is the more famous of the two ladies, so her song is played more. At least, it was back in 2014, just the other day, Brave came on the radio and that was awesome.
