Black Vortex, Chapter Four

Due to the massive delays happened with All New X-Men, issue 37 is being skipped until issue 39 ships, as they didn’t want to mess up Black Vortex.  Which makes sense but ooof, that isn’t great.  Especially as 37 is suppose to be the filler Iceman and Beast friendship issue.  Time will tell if it is awesome or not.

Here is the link to the Bleeding Cool website, that explains it in more detail :

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/02/06/new-x-men-37-published-39/

Though why they didn’t just renumber them, is beyond me.  Issue 37 coming out on the same day as issue 39 seems awkward.

Onto the issue, which opens with Beast’s mind being more open than ever before.  The secrets of the universe are there for the taking.  I do like how easy Gamora is getting along with Beast and Warren.  Everyone has goals – Beast is going to become smarter, Gamora is going to fight Thanos and Warren will get more to submit to to the Black Vortex.

The three of them go to a nameless planet, with aliens who are still at the ‘almost discovering fire’ stage of development.  They are all about evolving them when the Kree show up.  Ronan the Accuser arrives on the planet, steals the Black Vortex, and flies away in their ship.  The three enlightened heroes are going to go to the Kree homeworld and get the mirror back.

The Moon of Spartax.  Storm is standing in the debris of the surface, Jean reaches out to her, telepathically.

All New X-Men 38 Kitty 1

Kitty phased herself, Jean, Quill and Rocket – that is how they survived J-Son’s attack.  Jean can’t sense the other heroes.  Rocket believes they are all dead.

All New X-Men 38 Magik 1

Turns out, Magik teleported who she should, to safety.  With her was Captain Marvel, Groot, Nova, Bobby, Drax – who is holding an unconscious X23.  Kitty is so excited to see her friend.  Where is Lockheed during all of this?  I hope Marvel doesn’t use this crossover to kill him.  Bobby hugs Jean, the most those two have interacted.  Jean senses more opponents.

All New X-Men 38 Kitty Magik 1

Storm tells Magik to teleport them, but Magik needs a destination.

Magik casts The Crytorrak Spell of Invisibility from the Book fo Vishanti, Page 456.  So that is a spell of unstoppable invisibility?

Did Kitty really not know that Magik has been training with Doctor Strange?  What do they talk about when they are alone?

The Slaughter Lords walk right pass them and leave.

All New X-Men 38 Kitty 2

Everyone is concern for X23, as with her healing factor, she shouldn’t be knocked out as long as she is. Quill summons his, Bad Boy spaceship.  Maybe Lockheed has been with Lydia, this whole time?  Pryde is so thankful, she is willing to marry Quill.   He says he can do better, and that reminds her of her own mother – which is nice that Kitty and Teresa are talking again, or at all.  Though I’m pretty sure it is just the typical mother joke slash reference.

The Slaughter Lords notice Bad Boy flying off.

Hala.  Homeworld of the Kree.  The Crown Jewel of the Kree Empire.  The Enlighten arrive and start hand blasting the place to smithereens.  Gamora calls themselves, New Cosmic Protectors of the Galaxy.

All New X-Men 38 Magik 2

The heroes try to regroup.  Nova panics as they are way overpowered.  They have no clue where anyone went.  Bobby thinks about going to Earth and get the Avengers, Carol shoots that idea, fast, as they are not going to do anything.  Which seems odd, as she was with the Avengers during Infinity.

Issue ends with Scott calling them, and offering to help along with the Starjammers.  So they should help, as much as they help anything.

On the checklist, it is implied that All New X-Men 39 is the next chapter, so we may get two issues back to back.

We are a fourth of the way done, and I still think we are in good shape.  This has been all build up so the next five should be pretty intense with pay offs before the final four conclude the story.

Black Vortex, Chapter Three

I had to add the Phil Noto variant cover to my Wishlist.

Issue opens with Beast and Gamora wanting the gathered heroes t submit the Black Vortex.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty Magik 1

Rocket has changed his mind, he doesn’t like the new looks.  Storm threatens to fry all of Beast’s fur off, which seems overly harsh.

I do like seeing X23 with the team again, she really doesn’t believe in Wolverines.  I mean, she does and she – now that she is the new Wolverine, can be in multiple titles.

Jean refers to Hank’s older self as, Freaky Beast, couldn’t just, Beast, suffice?

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty 1

Angel seems very eager for a power upgrade.  Once he becomes Archangel, it was like the previous twenty years was a waste.  Bobby wants Professor K to notice Warren’s interest in the mirror.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Warren Cosmic Change

Warren is the third hero to submit, and now he is a mixture of Archangel and Mutant X’s Fallen.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty 2

Nova, having seen his first transformation, thinks Warren looks cool.

Warren now feels free, for the first time.  Take that X23!

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty 3

Kitty wants Beast to tell everyone to stop, I’m not sure why he would now.  Warren is able to take off his face mask, he wants to live out in the stars.

Bobby wants to see, again, how cool he would be.

Kitty wants Beast, which seems silly now that the damage is done, to reverse Warren.  We don’t know if this process is reverse-able.  With Secret Wars 2015 happening right after this, this could be the ‘permanent’ change until the . . . whatever it is Secret Wars 2015 accomplishes.

Beast gives Kitty the lowest of insults, that she is being like a human arguing with mutantkind.  Kitty is concern with out Warren’s change could change time.

Bobby is ready to submit.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty 4

Drax stops Bobby from committing.

Storm tells Rocket to meet her on the far side of the moon, is she asking Rocket out on a date?

Bobby calls Draz, Oscar the Grouch, and Drax tries to respond to the Grouch portion of the name.

Kitty tries to remind Beast of his original responsibilities to keep the Original X-Men safe.  He has changed his outlook on that, he is merely there to realize their potential.

In all of this confusion, Storm and Rocket has grabbed the Black Vortex.

The Flying Fortress.  Nearby.  Someone tells J-Son that they can’t locate the Black Vortex or the heroes.  Thane and the Brood assistant isn’t that impressed with J-Son.  Thane really wants the Black Vortex now.  J-Son sends Father Diablo to Brennan-7, on a secret mission – which most likely be that he is to kill Thane’s Flock.  Czar reports that the heroes are on the Spartax moon.

Storm is flying with the mirror as Beast, Gamora and Warren – have caught up to her.  We get the heated scene that was hinted at between Gamora and Storm.  Storm, amazingly, holds her own against the suped up Gamora.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Magik 1

Thanos arrives to tell Gamora, his daughter, to stop fighting.  Beast shouts that Jean is behind the charade.  Magik was there to teleport Jean to the battle.  I’m not sure why Drax is there.

Gamora attacks Jean but the sword phases through her.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty Magik 2

Good ol’ Kitty Pryde for the save!  Kitty still claims Jean as a student, even though she has given up living on Earth but I guess there has only been a day since she made that decision.

Kitty and Drax had a plan and Kitty lets go of Gamora, Drax breaks her sword, so that’s why he was there.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty Magik 3

Gamora tells Drax to say hello to Richard “Nova” Rider for her, as she is going to kill Drax.  Which seems to be in poor taste.  It would made more sense if the next issue was Nova’s tie in, but that is coming.  Beast wants the fight to stop, as they have the mirror again.

Quill gets Beast’s attention, all of the heroes are prepared to fight the enhanced heroes.  I need a name for those three.  Now that I think of it, Angel was the first (and only) to join Cyclops’ side, or better yet, to ditch his fellow time travelers, at the first instance.

Beast calls them, Heralds of a New Dawn, which seems wordy to me.  They fly away with the Black Vortex.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty Magik 4

The Heralds take off on a ship, I’m not sure who’s ship that is.  Rocket calls them, Grade-A Flarknards.  Which I will have to keep referring to this issue for that name.

Quill dares to give Magik orders, and she shuts him down.  She needs a destination.  Her calling him, loverboy, is cute.  Captain Marvel wouldn’t be able to catch up to them.  Jean can’t telepathically track them either.

Pryde takes this chance to yell at Quill.  Kitty still feels responsible for the students, so she is most likely regretting her decision to stay in space.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty Magik 5

Pryde is upset, as they just jeopardized the entire galaxy.

Just then, the floating fortress is about to open fire.

Legendary Star Lord 9 Kitty 5

Which is a pretty great cliffhanger!

Man, Medina and Curiel killed it this issue.  Up next, and in two days, is All New X-Men 38, Chapter Four!  I am still really enjoying this crossover.  I have no idea where this is heading.

scans_daily’s 1/3 Rule

Posted by John Klein III on June 15, 2015
Posted in: Websites. Tagged: S&FwM. Leave a comment

https://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/307147.html

After wondering if scans_daily (a great website! – that apparently isn’t just one person posting all the time) had a rule against posting images upon images from individual comics, I finally stumbled onto their official rule. Which wasn’t super easy to find but it gave me the answer I was looking for.

Apparently they got threaten and instead of being fine or shut down, they were given the opportunity to change their ways and they created a new policy.

The rule is that no more than 1/3 of a story or chapter can be posted on the comm, excepting free, orphaned, public domain, web-published stories, and stories that are 1-2 pages in length.

In order to keep my own nose clean, we here at S&FwM are going to try to abide by that same rule.

http://xmen-supreme.blogspot.com/

X-Men Supreme seems to be okay with nine image posts, and I had already thought that seven pages was good enough but officially, a 21 page comic, a third would be seven so I think as long as I stick with the 7 – 9 images, we should be okay.

Of course, S&FwM is nowhere near as popular as those websites – one day I hope to be counted amongst them in terms of greatness – I still think it is a better idea to have some sort of rule than to just be going forward as a rogue blogger.

I don’t really read too many comic blogs, besides the two referenced above, I have those two blogs and then I mostly follow official comic book websites like Newsarama, Goods Should Be Good (which I suppose is a blogsite under the umbrella of an offiical website, Comic Book Resources) and of course, uncannyxmen.net – which is mostly an astonishing fan site.

On fun note, for anyone keeping track of which countries we’re still waiting for a tenth visitor from (I haven’t ran these numbers in quite some time!) those countries are –

Taiwan and Brunei, so if you know anyone, or you are those two people, please come back one more time!

I hope those two websites don’t mind that I’m going to co-opt their rules (and maybe unofficial stance, in terms, of X-Men Supreme).  I’ve been thinking that I’ve gotten carried away with how many images I’ve shown, so I have kept going back to wondering what the rules are out there.  Plus, I don’t want to make any comic creators or Marvel slash Disney, mad at me – as I definitely can’t go up against them in court.  So instead of waiting for a hammer to come down, I rather be proactive.

Though I’ve seen some websites that don’t even do images, House to Astonish probably being the best one, and I admire how they don’t waste time with reviews but their reviews seem to be two or three quick paragraphs and they are done.  Which I like but I like seeing images to go along with the text, so I’m sticking with being an image heavy website.  I’m still at my 43% of my media that WordPress is allowing me to have – so I’m not worried about how many images I have just yet.

http://tmntentity.blogspot.com/

Now that I think of it, TMNT Entity has images, and just looking at his latest three pages, it seems like he has a rule of sticking with only three images per post.

That’s what I’ve been mainly thinking about, that I need to set a limit and I think I’m good with seven to nine.  I will aim for seven but if it takes two more, I will go with that.

I may have one or two reviews of my 365 drafts (I got a lot in the pipeline, ya’ll!) may have more images but going forward, I will set a limit on myself.

I just mainly wanted to get these thoughts out of my head.  I also hope those three websites don’t mind that I’ve included them in my Favorite Websites link roll.

Uncanny X-Men Volume Three Issue 31

In case you were wondering about Havok being on the cover, Bendis answers that question here :

https://www.tumblr.com/brianmichaelbendis/111448922547/so-i-was-quite-thrown-off-the-cover-for-the-later

So Bendis had to stretch one full issue into this storyline.  I wonder which pages were filler?  Probably the ones that I didn’t post in previous issue reviews for this title.

The New Xavier School.  Location Secret.  Today.  The Cuckoos each take a word of – oh my god, as they can’t believe that Professor Charles Francis Xavier is alive and in front of them.  Celeste is not happy with Tempus for bringing Xavier into the future.

Xavier tries to calm the students but is interrupted by a sound.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Magik mention

The sound is a hologram of Cyclops, as he apparently recorded several messages one night.  This one is to be played in case all three professors are dead – Cyclops, Emma and Magik.  I suppose he had to update several of them, once Magneto left the team.  It is weird that he says his own real name, right?  Who would be present, and not know his name or would need some sort introduction to this fellow?

Oh Cyclops, he isn’t that great at naming of things.  “If All of the Teachers of Our School have Died” but he did name his competing school “The New Xavier School.”  Apparently, there is even a protocol, if the X-Jet is gone, that there is a second X-Jet that will fly the remaining students to the Jean Grey School.  Xavier will like to know where this, Jean Grey School, is.  Oh, he is in for a surprise.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Kitty 1

Jean Grey School.  Now.  I guess Bendis really likes his telepaths to say, oh my god.  She and the rest of the X-Men (including Kitty Pryde) can’t believe they just watched Matthew Malloy kill Emma Frost on the front yard.

Rachel sends the students a telepathic command to go through the underground tunnels to safety.  Those have to be the Morlock Tunnels, right?  I’m glad they are not putting the students in the Danger Room, as that has been shown to not be a safe haven.

Storm and Dazzler get Matty M to admit to killing Scott, Illyana and Emma.  He tries to explain how it isn’t his fault but it isn’t like he killed some C-Level mutants that one has to have read a handbook to know them, as they haven’t seen print in years.  I’m looking at you, Exodus.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Kitty 2

Some students charge at Malloy.  Storm unleashes some lightning bolts.  We are shown a page of Malloy essentially destroying the school – I think.

Tempus has taken Xavier to where Matthew’s parents meet for the first time.  Xavier makes it so that she doesn’t give him a flyer and they meet at the rally.  Xavier also makes the young Mister Malloy want to change schools and become a doctor.  Tempus wants to make sure that Matthew isn’t ever born.

Austin, Texas.  Years Ago . . . Xavier and Tempus go to Matthew’s house on the day that Xavier originally met Matthew and another family lives in the house.

Xavier’s School for Gifted Younsters.  Years Ago . . . Tempus asks if Xavier is worried about the Butterfly Effect, and I’m glad someone finally is concern about that.  Xavier isn’t that worried, as the world should still be spinning.  The main change should be all of those that Matthew’s father has saved, now that he is a doctor.

Great exchange between Xavier and Tempus, calling her either the best or worst mutant in the history of mutants.  Her quick response to him that he could also have those labels, reminds me that I really dug her as a character way back in the first issue of All New X-Men.

Xavier tells her that he is going to mind wipe himself, he believes he has done it before – which is a fun aside.

Xavier doesn’t want to know any of his new found knowledge of the future.  She goes on about how he should be proud of his major accomplishments.  Magneto is a good guy and there are two mutant schools.  Xavier is curious where he goes wrong with Scott, Tempus assures him that she is going to fix Scott.

This sequence ends with Xavier, maybe, erasing his powers.  Back in this days, he was mind wiping all types of fools.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Kitty 3

Jean Grey School.  Today.  She-Hulk goes back to reading the Last Will & Testament of Xavier’s.  He has given the school over to Scott Summers.  No one is shock.  If Scott isn’t around, the school goes to Storm.

Since he doesn’t start with the confession that he is married to Mystique, then the time line has been changed.  So Xavier Junior is not born so Battle of the Atom didn’t happen, nor does the sequel story.  Also, Exodus shouldn’t be dead.

Emma is disappointed as she was hoping to learn that he had a strange secret marriage.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Magik mention 2

Cyclops walks out of the room, in disbelief.  He sees Tempus standing outside and goes out there to talk to her.  She tells him that she changed the timeline as he, Miss Frost and Magik were all killed today.

Tempus gets some nice digs at Cyclops.  Calling his mutant revolution actually his nervous breakdown.  She tells Cyclops that she will be watching him, going forward.  She threatens to make sure his parents don’t ever meet up, which would change all types of history.

Hey, since Battle of the Atom didn’t happened, does that mean the All New X-Men can go back in time?  Like, the reason they couldn’t was before that present wasn’t the right one.  Perhaps?  I’m sure that isn’t the case and it all sort of builds to Secret Wars 2015.

Cyclops tells Tempus that she is out of the school.  She isn’t shocked as graduates don’t stay in school.  Man, Tempus is rocking all types of butt now.  Tempus walks out after dropping the mic in front of Cyclops.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Kitty Magik 1

Iceman wants to challenge the will, as wants to call Matt Murdock.  She-Hulk wants to know why him, he is the only other attorney that Iceman knows.  Which is pretty clever.

Cyclops comes back into the room and says that he gives Storm the Jean Grey School, on one condition.  She takes in the New Xavier School students.  Magik is pretty shocked to hear this.  Cyclops needs to figure out his next step.

Uncanny X-Men V3 31 Kitty 4

Issue ends with Kitty needing some clarification and Emma spells it out, Cyclops has closed the school.  So the Schism, if AXIS didn’t do it, has closed the school.

Next issue promises to be the Kitty Pryde and Magik, Demon Hunters storyline, so that must take place prior to Black Vortex.  I’m so excited!

New Mutants Film, may be a reality

Posted by John Klein III on June 13, 2015
Posted in: Film, News, Podcasts, Websites. Tagged: Newsarama, Uncanny X-Cast. 2 Comments

http://www.newsarama.com/24486-fox-announces-new-mutants-movie-with-fault-in-our-stars-director.html

In addition to Apocalypse, Deadpool, Wolverine 3, X-Force and Gambit – we are getting the New Mutants!

As a long time fan of the Uncanny X-Cast, I’ve been hoping for a New Mutants film for the longest time!

http://www.uncannyxcast.com/main/2009/4/28/episode-62-pulp-friction.html

That list was made way back in 2009, so none of those actors are probably eligible to play teenagers, as only Tom Welling is capable of not aging in a span of six years.

My idea cast of characters would to be to have all nine of the characters.  With a real emphasis on making Dani Moonstar, Illyana Rasputin and Doug Ramsey – the stars of the film.  The less Sunspot and Magma, the better but I can only imagine that Susnpot and Cannonball are going to lead the film.

I’m really hoping not too many Non-members make up the cast of the film, especially not the characters that would eventually make up X-Force.  Since X-Force would have come out first, I imagine that shouldn’t be a threat.  If it was the other way around, I could see the films having an innocent beginning and then graduating them to a harsher reality strike team.  Let’s hope it doesn’t go in that direction!

The article states that we are at least three or four years away from production, so it may fall through.

Amazing X-Men 13 – Groot Rocket Variant

Amazing X-Men 13 Groot Rocket 141 Variant

Writer James Tynion IV

Artist Jorge Jimenez

Colorist Rachelle Rosenberg

Letterer VC’s Joe Caramgna

Cover Dated January 2014

Cover by Sara Pichelli, an awesome Uncanny X-Men 141 cover starring Groot and Rocket!

I thought this issue own a slot on the X-Books 2014 Best Storylines from a Single Storyline.  Instead, James Tynion IV won Honorable Mention for best writer for this very well written Done-In-One.

The main plot of this book, is that Anole is suppose to go out on a blind date with a dude.  The guy knows he is a mutant but Anole worries as he isn’t one of the ‘pretty mutants.’  The poor guy is concern about his green skin, giant one arm and making a good impression.  Lady Mastermind messes with Anole’s head.  We get good moments with Northstar and Nightcrawler, two characters that I haven’t seen interact too much over the years.

Northstar gave Anole a pass to be gone for the entire day, Nightcrawler is more by the books and is concern about Anole – as he has been gone too long.

Lady Mastermind shows Kurt being young and treated like a demon, his father Azazel shows up.  This doesn’t work on Kurt, as he is so beyond this phase of his life.

Northstar’s nightmare is his husband (glad they are together) – Kyle, turning his back on Northstar.  We see that Northstar’s inner Nightcrawler is homophobic.  Real Kurt kills this illusion, as he is super gay friendly.

Anole gets to punch Lady Mastermind, who I like this power upgrade, it seems like it is an obvious direction for her. Especially as she states that she has been training with telepaths, so she has earned this upgrade.

Kurt gives some great advice how he is blue and furry and he does great with the ladies.

Issue ends with the dude going on a date with Anole.

A Conversation I Had Recently

Posted by John Klein III on June 11, 2015

I was talking to a friend about how Kitty Pryde was the greatest character of all time.

This third party overheard it and decided, foolishly, to throw Harry Potter’s name into the hat, as if we were reenacting the Goblet of Fire.

I bit my tongue for a second, as I wanted to be all like “bitch, please, he isn’t even the best character in his own books”

So after taking a beat, I politely pointed out how Harry Potter’s series of books should be, instead, titled – Hermione Granger Fixing Fools’ Problems – Books One through Seven.

This is what I have to put up with.

Wolverines 8

Wolverines 8 Shogun 1

The alien wants to know which of these villains killed Wolverine.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 2

Turns out, the alien is none other than . . . Imperial Guard member, Fang!  Wolverine and X23 have both worn this guy’s costumes, for moments in time.  Has it been revealed yet, how X23 got a lady version of the outfit?

Sabretooth attacks Fang and is brought down hard.  Mystique has heard of Fang before, she is well versed in all the crazies that inhabit the entire Marvel Universe.  Mystique knows that Fang should be dead, killed by the Brood.

Fang laughs, as no one – including the Brood – know how to kill a member of the Lupaki race.

Mystique can tell that Fang is only messing with them, he isn’t out to kill any of the gathered villains.  He is merely after sport.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 3

X23 tells everyone to attack Fang as a team, which means to dogpile (wolf pile?) which is not the same thing.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 4

Very much like a cartoon character, he Triple H no sells everybody off of him.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 5

Daken, the only one to not attack yet (why would he, without his healing factor, one eye and one arm?) tries to talk to Fang.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 6

Lady Deathstrike checks on Shogun, he is knocked out.  Once he comes to, he says he can’t see, but I don’t show from any of the previous pages, where he suffers any damage to his eyes.  Maybe his mask is covering his eyes?

Daken, while Fang is telling stories of his father, puts three claws through Fang’s head.

Fang laughs this off, as humans are so silly to put their brains in their heads.  Silly humans.  Fang goes back to wondering who killed Wolverine, he did his research, it should have been one who is present here.

Some Time Ago . . . Fang and Wolverine are drinking beers and talking about their lives.

Apparently, like Sabretooth – but the opposite – Fang hung out with Wolverine, one day a year.  Sabretooth, use to, try to kill Wolverine on his suspected birthday.

Wolverines 8 Fang crying Shogun watches

Fang starts crying, realizing that his friend is dead and he wasn’t there to help.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 8

We get another scene where X23 really doesn’t belong on this title.  She has to be the one to tell Fang that done of them killed Wolverine, though many wanted to.  X23 never really thought Wolverine would ever be dead.

Mystique goes to a website, I wish she name checked it, and learns that Lupaks’ have a semi-autonomous gland that is invisible to the human eye.  It floats about a foot away from their bodies.  Reminds me too much of how EVA works for Fantomex, unless that has always been the case with Fang but it feels like a retcon.

Mystique wants someone to head back to their ship and ready the cannons.  Junk is far too eager to do it, he’s probably tired of only watching this very confusing issue (from his perspective).

Daken tackles Fang.

Fang tries to explain that it isn’t a gland, necessarily.  Sabretooth punches him to Fang’s face, which he doesn’t appreciate it as he is trying to give some never-before-known-factgs.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 9

Lady Deathstrike gets into the fight, and knees Fang to his face.  Shogun stabs Fang to the leg with an s-word.

Shouldn’t somebody be trying to attack the air around Fang, to try to hit the gland.

Junk opens fight with all of the canons.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 10

There is now a giant crater.  X23 feels bad as she was using her words to get through to him.  Then laughter comes from the grater.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 11

Fang is having such a great time.  This issue feels like a real departure from the previous seven issues (I imagine issue two wasn’t like this), as it is light and there are jokes throughout it.  I could use more of these type of issues.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 12

Fang comes up with the premise for the next several issues (I imagine).  He wants to go on an adventure with each member of the Wolverines.  Fang chooses Daken to be the first one.

Fang states that it isn’t a gland, but doesn’t elaborates on that.

Wolverines 8 Shogun 13

Fang is taking Daken to the Mountains of Jotunheim.  Which is exactly where a guy without a healing factor wants to, where Frost Giants are.

Issue ends with Mystique wanting to be ready to kill Fang once he returns.  She doesn’t care if Daken returns alive.

So this issue doesn’t have any Ogun voice captions but I think, with this series, going forward – that I am only going to post the pages with Ogun’s narration boxes.  Something I’m thinking about as Shogun is clearly becoming a larger part of this series and I am hesitant of posting so many pages from every issue.

Fun With YouTube : Ultimate Spider-Man 1 x 16

Thanks to YouTuber WatchIT for hosting the video!

Beetle Mania

The X-Men are apparently coming to Ultimate Spider-Man at some point in season three.  I read that Kitty Pryde was mention once as to existing in this universe.  Doing a little research revealed that she is named in the Daily Bugle news tickler to be appearing in an upcoming movie.  This happens at the 2:07 minute mark of the episode.  You will need to enlarge the video and then pause it as soon as Peter falls out of his chair.  Her name isn’t on the screen for long.

Here, I did the hard work for you –

Ultimate Spider-Man 1x16 207 Kitty Pryde 1

It is a closer look at the name –

Ultimate Spider-Man 1x16 207 Kitty Pryde Name

It is repeated again at the 18:57 mark, but you have to be pretty fast on the pause button to see it –

Ultimate Spider-Man 1x16 Beetle Mania 1857 Kitty Pryde 2

Scott Mosier, the M in Smodcast, and if he isn’t on the episode, I don’t even bother listening as a general rule.  I make rare exceptions for Walt Flanagan and Brian Johnson appearances.

Scott wrote eight episodes of the series and I made a point of watching all of them.  I just didn’t pay attention to the news tickle the first time around.

His episodes are :

Beetle Mania
Damage
Attack of the Beetle
Hawkeye
Sinister Six
Swarm
Venom Bomb
Return of the Sinister Six
