Big Brother 16 : Sunday – July 20, 2014

My Random Thoughts :

We didn’t get the Devil voice on Thursday’s episode.

I forgot we didn’t finish the HoH competition either.

Day 28, have they been updating us every week?

Jocasta is both a klutz and clumsily.

Smart to put their eggs at the top and work down.

These egg puns . . . Reminds me of Egghead from the 60s Batman series.  Which I really want that Complete series set, come this November.  But it has to be super expensive, right?  Especially the BluRay.

Frankie and Cody won!

Spent eight minutes on this footage, that I can only imagine most Big Brother viewers know about the active online community.

Frankie, the first repeat HoH.

When there is whispering, Production needs to put some close captioning up.  It is something that I would need to work on before I go into the house.  I can’t hear some whispers.

Frankie said his mother is hot.  Something I have never said about my own mother.

Cody said, explanation mark, because he couldn’t express it.

How much does Production want Arianda Grande on the show?

Another alliance?  Zach, Devin, Frankie, Christine and Cody.  Jittering Jokers, is horrible.  Detonators, boom!

Can’t believe Joel McHale is doing commercials.  Must have been before Community was renewed on Yahoo.  So excited!

Cody has a man crush on Zac Efron.  He should watch, Liberal Arts.  I also like romantic comedies.

Hayden’s is Leo DiCrappii, ooof!

Team America Task – Get nominated a physical threat – should be super easy with Frankie as HoH.  Except for dumb alliances.

Amber is not a physical threat.  Production should tell them that

Brittany working her game, with Frankie.  Is she the oldest broad in the house?  She is the hottest, so why not be the oldest as well.  Two things, she has no control over.

Uh oh, Cody might target Brittany!  Nooooo!

Now, they are talking.  Be smooth Brittany!

She was not smooth, uh oh

I might have to start looking at Nicole closer, pending on how nominations go.

Amber and Cody game talking behind closed doors, while Caleb is in the very next door.

Victoria doesn’t get no love.  She is super high maintenance.

Brittany is going to confront Victoria.  Seemed super awkward.

Frankie has morning face.

Who takes a bath wearing sunglasses?  Derrick, appare

PostNet commercial, so frustrating

Nominations!

Cody – Victoria / Brittany

Frankie – Jocasta / Amber

Not Brittany!

Such a lame week!  These nominations suck, on a pure entertainment level

Apparently, Amber does count as a physical threat, who knew.  She clearly isn’t who America had in mind

They could make a girls alliance right there with six members!

We are getting Battle of the Block!  With only ten minutes left!  Must be fast

Chess theme, I like that.

Brittany doesn’t know how to play chess.  I have never understood how people can get far in their life without learning to play the game.

Has Brittany been nominated three times?  I knew about two of .

I didn’t understand the rules until Derrick’s explanation.

Jocasta out first.

Next, Brittany.  Shoot!

Caleb was the host.

Victoria is out.

Jocasta and Amber won! And safe for the week.

I don’t care for Jocasta in the Diary Room.

Frankie lost his second HoH BotB.

Brittany needs to win the Power of Veto!  She seems to be the target for the week

BB16 Brittany BotB

Thanks to Big Brother Network for the quick image

Anyone else notice the lack of boobs this season?  I didn’t notice it until this competition.  I guess that is what happens when one hires only skinny ladies or actress / model types

Justin K put together this list.

Sorry I didn’t get the voting thread up in time, it caught me by surprised and then I forgot to do a Voting post.

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?488621-Fan-s-Choice-Top-100-Marvel-Characters-of-CBR-THE-RESULTS!

Top Fan Choice Ultimate Shadowcat

Ultimate Kitty made the list with 10 points! Didn’t crack the Top 100 but still, points!

Top Fan Choice Arcade

Arcade with 11 points

Top Fan Choice Scarlet Spider

Scarlet Spider (Reilly) got 17 points!

Top Fan Choice Doug

Doug Ramsey got 19 points

Top Fan Choice Lockheed

Lockheed with 24 points

Top Fan Choice Rachel

Rachel Grey at 40!

Top Fan Choice Magik

Magik at 17!

Top Fan Choice Kitty

Kitty Pryde 13! Unlucky, but I’ll take it!

Top Fan Choice Cyclops

Cyclops made the list at number ten!

Top Fan Choice Nightcrawler

My highest ranked character, Nightcrawler, at number six!

All picture collages were created by Justin K.  I do wonder where that Kitty Pryde image comes from as I don’t recognize the artist.

Typically, the other people in the picture are who tied with them (for those who didn’t rank in the Top 100) and then those who are around them in the ranking position but, typically, not in the order that they ranked at.

Here are my thoughts on the list, with the list in a pure form at the very end.

100. (TIE) Apocalypse – Not bad for the character who has passed his prime. Plus, in 2016, will rank higher with the movie.
Human Torch – The lowest Fantastic Four member. I have to agree, I would rank him low too.
98. Fantomex – Not really a character I have much experience with.
97. (TIE) Enchantress – Decent character. Whenenver I think of her, I think of Chuck, a poster over at the old Joe Quesada message boards that loved her so much.
Moonstone – Really liked her during the original Thunderbolts run.
95. Wonder Man – oh how I hate Wonder Man. The Avengers’ Colossus.
94. Crystal – I liked her when she was married to Quicksilver, thus was part of the Mangeto / Hank Pym family tree.
93. Meggan – The lowest Excalibur member, and that’s not right.
92. Galactus – Ooof, how the mighty have fallen, but once Ultimate Kitty Pryde can single handedly defeat you, how much farther can you go?
91. (FOUR WAY TIE) Norman Osborn – Who even knew one can have a four way tie! Norman, people’s favorite Spider-Villain but he’s been done to death.
Rocket Raccoon – Rocket should be increasing popularity with the film coming out.
Kaine – Benefits from having a series out last year.
Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man – surprised he isn’t higher.
87. Firestar – Benefits from being in Amazing X-Men.
86. (TIE) Black Knight – Haven’t seen him in years.
Ghost Rider – Which one? I doubt it is Dan Ketch, who is my Ghost Rider.
84. Pixie – People like her. She was cute before Magik took a part of her soul, but I suppose that’s the point.
83. Mister Sinister – Benefits from Kieron Gillen’s astonishing work with the character.
82. Legion – With how many people like X-Men Legacy and clearly the voter turn out for X-Characters, thought he’ll be higher.
81. Dani Moonstar – My third favorite New Mutant.
80. Chamber – This character has been run through the mud in the past few years.
79. Mockingbird – Never really got to know this character, even after she came back after Secret Invasion. She married Hawkeye, so that’s pretty cool.
78. Eddie Brock Venom – the 90s were very kind.
77. M – Benefits from being in Brian Wood’s current X-Men title.
76. Juggernaut – Has he been around? Classic X-Men Villain.
75. Star Lord – Dating Kitty Pryde, so probably will be ranked much higher next time this list is made. Also, star of an upcoming film.
74. Daken – I thought he was dead dead again but he was in Uncanny Avengers as a dead Horseman.
73. (TIE) Angel – The lowest Original Five X-Man. He might be my lowest of the five as well.
Mary Jane Watson – Probably would have been higher if Peter and her were still married and she was still in the titles.
71. (TIE) Nico Minoru – Runaways! Cool that she made the list.
Wiccan – Young Avenger and son of Vision and Scarlet Witch.
69. Death’s Head – British hero, right?
68. Union Jack – Definitely a British hero. Did they vote one and then the other.
67. Sif – Benefits from being in a Thor movie.
66. Havok – The lesser Summers brother, or the middle one both literally and in popularity if you count Vulcan.
65. Reed Richards – I would rank Reed higher pending on what type of father he was last shown as being. It really bothers me that he is shown to completely ignore his family.
64. Agent Venom / Flash Thompson – Benefits from being the current Venom. People love that character.
63. Hank Pym – Will be much higher once that Ant-Man film comes out but it feels right that he is around this ranking. The lowest of the Founding Avengers.
62. Multiple Man – Probably would have been higher last year with X-Factor still running its course.
61. (TIE) Bishop – I sort of completely missed out on Bishop besides the few X-Treme issues I own.
Pete Wisdom – Deserves better than to be tied with Bishop. The lowest of Kitty’s ex-boyfriends, and the best of the lot.
59. Doctor Octopus / Superior Spider-Man – My favorite Spider-Villain.
58. Professor Xavier – Can’t believe he is ranked as low as he is but he is pretty horrible. Benefits from being dead.
57. Vision – My favorite Avenger, push come to shove.
56. Luke Cage – Probably would have ranked hire when Bendis was making him the star of Avengers.
55. Kate Bishop Hawkeye – Don’t have that much experience with her as I completely skipped out on Young Avengers. I chose Runaways.
54. Quicksilver – The lowest ranked of Magneto’s children.
53. Spectrum – I will always think of Monica as Captain Marvel, if only she was given a better hero name back in the day, she wouldn’t be on her fifth name now.
52. Spider-Woman – The original, Jessica Drew.
51. Invisible Woman – My favorite member of the Fantastic Four. Can’t believe she isn’t everybody’s but it makes sense that the only one of them to be given an ongoing series would rank higher.
50. Punisher – Punisher at 50, the halfway mark. Seems respectable.
49. (TIE) Colossus – Can’t believe the worst X-Man is in the Top 50!
Mystique – Deserves so much better than to be tied with Colossus.
47. (TIE) Cable – The last tie. The lowest ranked of Scott’s children.
Thanos – I like Thanos but I could also be okay if he isn’t seen again for a few more years. Which is his style.
45. Nova – Never been a huge Nova fan, I liked the Larsen series and he was okay in New Warriors.
44. Moon Knight – Probably benefits from having a new series coming out.
43. Iceman – The second lowest of the Original Five. That seems about right, especially have the breakup with Kitty.
42. Wasp – The second lowest of the founding Avengers, seems she should be higher but I’m not sure where she’s been appearing outside of Uncanny Avengers.
41. Jubilee – Ooof, Jubilee seems too low with how much people like 90s X-Men.
40. Rachel Grey – I voted for Rachel, the lowest of my list that made the Top 100.
39. Bucky Barnes – Can’t believe with the movie coming out he didn’t break Top 25.
38. X23 – This has to be a tough blow to Marvel’s marketing department, one would think she is much higher with how much of a push Marvel keeps giving her.
37. Hercules – I feel like I like him conceptually but only read his run on the Avengers during Under Siege and that’s essentially it.
36. Beast – Right in the middle of the Original Five, I’m surprised he wasn’t fourth as people seem to hate Beast right now.
35. Namor – I like Namor during Gillen’s Uncanny X-Men run.
34. Black Panther – I dance with Black Panther, really liked his series under Christopher Priest and he was part of Busiek’s Avengers.
33. Silver Surfer – This makes me realize that he’s the second lowest Defenders founder right after Namor.
32. Loki – Boy, those Thor and Avengers movies must really be helping Loki. That and Kid Loki.
31. Thing – The highest ranked Fantastic Four member.
30. Dazzler – People do love Dazzler.
29. Deadpool – Surprised Deadpool didn’t crack Top 25. Another blow to Marvel’s marketing department.
28. Captain Britain – Middle of the Original Excalibur. Can’t believe he ranks higher than Rachel.
27. Doctor Strange – Second highest Defender.
26. Hawkeye – Poor Kurt Busiek’s favorite Avenger, just missed Top 25!
25. She-Hulk – I like She-Hulk, Dan Slott’s two series were simply sensational.
24. Polaris – Of Magneto’s two daughters, she is my favorite, but it makes sense that she isn’t the more favorited one.
23. Iron Fist – Can’t believe he ranks so much higher than Luke Cage.
22. Black Widow – Good for Natasha! There was a time when I wanted to collect every Black Widow appearance along with Kitty but I feel like I made the right choice.
21. Scarlet Witch – I use to be a huge fan of Wanda’s until Dissembled. Just missed Top 20, good.
20. Iron Man – Really surprised (that’s my word with this list!) that Iron Man wasn’t Top Ten or 15 material. It’ll make sense once you see who largest made up the top ten.
19. Doctor Doom – When the list was being made, I had completely forgotten Doom hadn’t appeared.
18. Hulk – Another founding Avenger, the second highest.
17. Magik – Now we are talking! Illyana deserves to be even higher but good for her to be this high.
16. Psylocke – This isn’t the 90s but this shows how beloved that team was.
15. Carol Danvers – Carol is the Top 15th Favorite Marvel character.
14. Daredevil – Daredevil was another character that I had forgotten wasn’t on the list already. Very surprised that he is ranked so high!
13. Kitty Pryde!!! – Kitty Pryde, oh yeah! I wished she was in the top ten but 13, not that unucky!
12. Emma Frost – Burns a little to have Emma be one rank higher.
11. Magneto – The highest ranked villain!
10. Cyclops – Can’t believe Cyclops isn’t the highest ranked Original Five member! Glad he made the Top Ten!
9. Captain America – Go Cap Go!
8. Jean Grey – Here we go, people love Jean Grey over at the X-Books board.
7. Gambit – Also, the X-Books board at CBR is the largest board so it makes sense that so many X-Men made the Top 17.
6. Nightcrawler – My personal highest ranked character. Highly benefits from coming back to life this year.
5. Thor – Can’t believe Thor is the highest ranked Avenger founder. That’s not how I would have voted them.
4. Rogue – Probably benefits from being ‘dead’ at the moment, like that’ll last.
3. Wolverine – I thought he would be guaranteed to be ranked second.
2. Storm – I knew people liked Storm, but this much? I’m still convinced that we are not suppose to like Storm but this is the 80s holding on strong.
1. Spider-Man – I would disagree that Spider-Man should be Marvel’s flagship character but really is no doubting that people love the guy still. He sold his marriage to the devil to save his elderly aunt for maybe another ten years of life – a life of being an elderly aunt! Mind boggling!

Uncanny X-Men Volume Three Issue 21

Posted by John Klein III on July 19, 2014

Uncanny X-Men V3 21

Writer Brian Michael Bendis

Pencils Chris Bachalo

Inks Tim Townsend, Mark Irwin, Jaime Mendoza & Al Vey

Colors Chris Bachalo

Uncanny X-Men V3 21 Magik 1a Uncanny X-Men V3 21 Magik 1b

Last issue, Cyclops lost control of his powers in front of the Jean Grey School.

Storm wants him to leave, which is pretty insensitive of her.  Magik defends him.  Storm wants both of them gone.

Illyana loses her control of her powers, releasing a giant sandworm from Beetlejuice.  She passes out on top of Cyclops.

Beast wants to take them to his lab.  Mystique as Dazzler wants to take them with her and SHIELD.

Madripoor.  Blob is losing his mind with withdrawals.  He is a junkie dickhead, as they say.  I do like how he is still bragging about being Original Brotherhood.  It has probably gotten him free drinks and a few free meals.

Blob gets to Dazzler’s room.  Before he can do anything, she is saved by Magneto.  Magneto doesn’t recognize her at first, but after being swapped and taken prisoner in issue nine – she is saved by Magneto, of all people.

Back at the Jean Grey School.  Dazzlique is negotiating with Beast when Maria Hill shows up.  She will let Beast have one hour to figure out what is wrong with Scott and Illyana.  Which is pretty generous of her.  I like how she calls Dazzler, Agent Blaire, in front of third parties.

We see that the mutant threat version of Mysterio, who is on the cover, has been monitoring this entire conversation.  Also, he may be directly causing Cyclops, Emma and Illyana’s power fluctuations.  He takes over the Hellicarrier and unleashes its full arsenal onto the school.

Storm blasts lightning onto the carrier.

The Hidden New Xavier School.  Emma isn’t happy being left behind.  Her and the students see something in the sky, but we only is a shape.  Is it a plane or a bird?  I’m sure it is Magneto holding Dazzler.

Jean Grey School.  Firestar, fresh from a shower, and the known students come rushing out.

Uncanny X-Men V3 21 Magik 2

Maria Hill’s override commands have no effect.

I like how quick Beast figures out who us behind this.

The secret villain comments aloud that there is one lesson Beast never learned, and how the villain is going to have to teach it to him.

Pretty exciting issue, next issue promises some answers.  Finally.

I’m glad that Dazzler finally got rescued.  That is a relief!

Big Brother 16 : Thursday – July 17, 2014

Posted by John Klein III on July 18, 2014
Posted in: Fun With YouTube, Reality Television. Tagged: BB16, Big Brother, Music, YouTube. 8 Comments

Who went home last night, Caleb or Devin?  We’ll find out,

But First …

RANDOM THOUGHTS!!!

Look at Julie Chen in an appropriate dress.  It fits and suits her.

Writers gave her a good line to – Devin obsess with power and Caleb obsess with a girl.

So far so good.

Voiceover guy – guy who looks like the Rock, is on the block

Isn’t it too early to be visiting family?  I do like how Jeff is clearly just working for Big Brother.  Makes sense, people love Jeff.  I am one of them.

Julie said, but first!

The dumbest move to play in this game, is to not use the Power of Veto on yourself when you are on the block.

Caleb and Hayden, hopefully one doesn’t rub off on the other.

Donny and Cody are talking as they put the shades over the cameras behind the outdoor mirrors.  Apparently, my wife and the other live feeders recognize that as helping Production.

Guys whistling at Victoria, as they don’t recognize her.

Cody and Amber sharing a moment, in the dark, when Caleb spies on them.

Nicole and Hayden cuddling!

Victoria busting up Hayden’s schemes.

Look at Frankie making an appearance!  He hasn’t been around lately , on the edits.

I like the idea of voting out Caleb.

Production is going out of their way to set up Caleb leaving.

Jeff Schroeder is a Big Brother Legend.

We bought Walker Dennis new diapers, my wife said they have Pooh on them and I thought she meant, poo.

Jeff is so charming with Donny’s parents.

Does Amber own a pair of grannie panties!?!

I like Donny’s brother and sister.  His girlfriend is young and cute!

Jeff is cute in Donny’s landscaper uniform.

Julie keeping the questions upbeat and high energy.

The way the houseguests act when Julie turns her attention to a new person, makes me feel like they talk about dreading one on one questions with her.

No Half Nots competition, they will be chosen by their lack of activity from their bracelets.  Glad Production didn’t forget about those, though no one is discussing them.

Speeches :

Both are throwing each other under the bus.

Julie – Caleb is blinded by love, Devin is blinded by power.

The voting!

Jocasta – Devin

Donny – Devin

Nicole – Devin, she hoppily votes for him

Hayden – Devin

Zach – Devin

Cody – Devin

It is official, Devin is gone.  Hopefully, Caleb calms down around Amber.

Houseguests seem to be overly happy Devin is gone.  Almost to jerkish levels.

Aw, Brittany gave Devin a gift for his daughter.  So sweet.

Donny is a grounds keeper

Not a bad interview with Julie and Devin

Donny gave a nice farewell message to Devin

HoH Competition, duos!

Victoria – Christine

Caleb – Nicole

Brittany – Jocasta

Amber – Zach

Donny – Hayden

Cody – Frankie

No duos make any sense.

Scott Bakula is on NCIS : New Orleans?  Now, I am super interested in that show.  Unfortunately, I am not in my fifties.  I wonder if I can still enjoy it?

I’ve never been a fan of the egg competition.

Doesn’t seem to be a live episode friendly competition.

Only Brittany and Jocasta were happy with the pairings.

Team America task – who to nominate, floater or physical threat?  Physical Threat won, which is a shame.

Shoot the winners are not revealed on the show.

The winners are . . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

Don’t look now . . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

Here are the winners . . . CODY & FRANKIE!!!

Thanks to Jamie’s Because You Are Addicted blog for the results.  As soon as the episode was over, for us, we had the results.  Now, that is service!

I predict Cody puts up Caleb and that is how Team America gets their easy cash.

. . .

I did not know that Wil Heuser (from BB15) was already three episodes deep into his BB16 Saga videos!

This is the third episode.  Very funny and so true!

A parody of Frankie’s younger sister, Ariana Grande’s Problem video.

Which I was determined never to mention her but why fight it?

I checked and Franke and Ariana do have the same last name.

. . .

Still no magician pictures online but maybe it is due to me not giving the Internet a picture.  Perhaps?

BB16 Brittany Shades

Seems like the Internet has calmed down since last week but she also hasn’t been the target, so there was no reason to worry.

Big Brother 16 : Wednesday – July 16, 2014

Posted by John Klein III on July 17, 2014
Posted in: Reality Television, Websites. Tagged: BB16, Big Brother, CSBG. Leave a comment

So I’ve been asked where I got Random Thoughts and the format.  I was inspired by Chad Nevett from Comic Book Resources’ Comics Should Be Good, where he was a columnist.

http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/category/random-thoughts/

I’ve asked Chad if I can borrow the Random Thoughts structure and he was nice enough to say yes.  So that’s why it is more of a stream-of-consciousness type of posts.

My wife is nice enough to let me type away these thoughts as we watch the show, which I appreciate it, as it would take forever to write them on a piece of paper and then type them up later.

. . .

My Random Thoughts on the episode :

Voiceover called Donny a janitor when he is a gardener.

I forgot that Nicole magically disappear.

Nicole is a frog!  She is a frog for an entire week.

Looks like Donny is keeping his magician costume.  That is what I would do, try to keep as many costumes as possible.  At least, pieces of them.

Jocasta got overly heated and motion sickness, due to the competition.

Caleb is super creeping on Amber.  She needs to never be alone with him.  Hopefully Production is super watching him when he is near her.

Nicole is cute in the frog costume.  Hayden needs to cool it with the flirting.

Cody gave Amber a back massage.  Caleb prevy watching it!

I thought it was Zach at first.

Is Amber that attractive to have two guys after her?

Caleb is like a twelve year old boy, full of jealousy.

Caleb must look like a monster with how sick Jocasta is.  She was up there so long due to Caleb taking so long to finish the competition.

Glad they want to get rid of Caleb, as a Plan B.

Donny trying his best to complete the Team America task.  He convinced Nicole.  Derrick told Caleb, he told Amber.  Two down.  They told Zach, he told the house.  That is five thousand dollars each.

Veto Competition!

Only five will compete, due to Jocasta’s illness.  Poor gal

Derrick – Christine / Donny

Caleb – Devin

Cody will be the host.

Caleb is the Beast and Devin is the Animal.

So awkward that Donny doesn’t want to work with Derrick, but they are Team America together.

New Team America mission.  Who to nominate next week : floater or physical threat?  I would choose floater, everytime.

Last season had sad competitions due to lazy people being left in the house.

Caleb said nine million viewers, can that be right?  Seems low, to me.  He probably wanted to say 20 million, and halved it.

Devin broke the door handle!  So funny

Christine v Devin – Devin won the first round.

A brand new competition, seems tough.  My wife pointed that out to me.

Derrick v Devin – Devin won second round!

Derrick is doing the Robot!

Donny v Devin – Donny won the third round!

Donny is becoming a competitor!

Caleb v Donny – Donny won the fourth round!

Caleb – you may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but at least you are in the box.  His grandmother use to say that.

#OldManBeatDown

Donny took out both big competitors!

Poor Amber gave Caleb a kiss on his cheek, that isn’t going to give him any mix messages.

Donny is taking Jocasta off the block, such a good guy.  He is definitely going to win America’s Favorite.

Devin crying, should have been nicer to people in the house.

Donny has won two Vetos now.

Jocasta looks better, but not hundred percent.

Glad Donny didn’t make them do speeches.  Donny’s was good enough.

Derrick picked Devin as the replacement nominee.

Devin or Caleb is going home tonight.  Rather have Caleb go home than Devin, I am sad to report.

Jocasta ending the episode on a weird note.

Nicole as a Frog :

BB16 Nicole Frog Cute

So cute!

. . .

I could not find a good picture of Brittany from the Battle of the Block competition from last Sunday’s episode.  CBS.com is the only place that even had decent pictures of the competition.  By decent, I mean, you can barely identify anyone.  I guess there are no websites doing screen caps of the edited shows.  So, I’m disappointed in the Internet.  I even requested caps from Tumblr and that Big Brother thread over at the SurvivorSucks forum.  So this is the only picture we get for today.  If you now of a decent website, please let me know.

BB16 Brittany Magician

If anyone knows of a site, please let me know as that is a poor angle.

UNCANNY AVENGERS #25
RICK REMENDER (W ) • DANIEL ACUNA (A)
AXIS tie-in!
• The dark path to AXIS starts here. An event two years in the making!
• The Red Skull and his S-Men have already begun the great vanishing, The Uncanny Avengers are too late.
• Havok witnesses the Skull’s greatest atrocity yet.
• Magneto vs Red Skull blood match that will result in a terribly altered Marvel Universe.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

I like the idea of Magneto v Red Skull, on so many levels but I’m still hoping to skip out on this event.

AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #1 (OF 9)
RICK REMENDER (W) • ADAM KUBERT (A)
Cover by JIM CHEUNG
ACT I: THE RED SUPREMACY
• The Red Skull has exploited the gifts of the world’s greatest telepath to broadcast pure hatred across the globe. Now, born of the murder of Charles Xavier, World War Hate has begun.
• Tony Stark discovers a secret truth that will upend not only his life, but also the lives of everyone he cares for.
• Can The Avengers and X-Men finally unite? Would their combined strength be enough to hold back the darkness of the Red Onslaught?
• Magneto murdered the wrong man, releasing the greatest evil the Marvel Universe has ever known. Now Rogue and Scarlet Witch are all that stand in its way.
40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

I really hope to skip out on this, especially if Marveli s going to double skip this. The cover shows Cyclops so I can only imagine his Uncanny team, including Magik, will show up in this. Dang it! I was hoping to miss out on one event.

AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #2 (OF 9)
RICK REMENDER (W) • ADAM KUBERT (A)
Cover by JIM CHEUNG
ACT I: THE RED SUPREMACY
• The heroes of the Marvel Universe storm the beaches of Red Skull’s Genoshian Reeducation camps. What they discover within will lead to a bleak new era.
• The revelation of Tony Stark’s dark secret promises to shatter the fragile alliance between A and X.
• The all-new Captain America pays a terrible price.
• Nova’s attempt at solving the crisis leads to disaster.
• Magneto betrays his alliance to join an army of evil.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #3 (OF 9)
RICK REMENDER (W) • LEINIL FRANCIS YU (A)
Cover by JIM CHEUNG
ACT I: THE RED SUPREMACY
• With the heroes lost, the world’s fate lies in the hands of the vilest syndicate known to man.
• Scarlet Witch is forced to join Dr. Doom, the man who unleashed her power to cause M-Day, or she will watch those she loves most die.
• The return of one of the Marvel Universe’s great villains!
• An Avenger quits, a heart is broken, and the world as we know it is gone.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Ooof! Triple shipping! That’s one way to get out an event. So if this is the Avengers and X-Men sidelined and the villains have to step up, that could be cool. Something I can miss out on but cool, nonetheless.

AXIS: HOBGOBLIN #1 (OF 3)
Kevin Shinick (W)
Javier Rodriguez (A/C)
AXIS TIE-IN!
• Roderick Kingsley, the one and only Original Hobgoblin is back in the suit (for real this time! We swear!) and back in New York with a brand new mission.
• Robot Chicken writer Kevin Shinick (Superior Carnage, Superior Spider-Man Team Up) and fan favorite artist Javier Rodriguez (Daredevil) team up to bring you a Hobgoblin book unlike any you’ve ever seen!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

I do like the idea of Roderick Kingsley being back as the original Hobgoblin. It was a shame that he didn’t do much after Hobgoblin Lives. Though he was part of the awesome “Goblins at the Gate” in Spectacular Spider-Man 259 – 261 storyline.

AXIS REVOLUTIONS #1 (of 4)
DENNIS HOPELESS (W) • KEN LASHLEY (A/C)
AXIS TIE-IN!
• Companion series to Marvel’s newest blockbuster event, AXIS!
• Featuring stories from the Avengers and X-Men’s epic battle with the Red Skull!
• As the Red Skull broadcasts hate across the globe, will our heroes be able to quell the madness? Or might they just be swept up in it?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Oh companion series, the wonder that you are!  Few have ever really mattered.

MAGNETO #11
CULLEN BUNN (W) • GABRIEL HERNANDEZ WALTA (A)
Cover by DAVID YARDIN
AXIS TIE-IN!
• The Red Skull is sending the world into a spiral of destruction…and Magneto is one of a handful of heroes with the means to stop him!
• But will the Master of Magnetism also crumple before the maniac who’s using the formidable telepathic powers of his deceased best friend to usher in his new, terrifying Reich Eternal?
• With the grudge personal on MANY levels, Magneto is amply motivated to be the one to take down the Skull once and for all!
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99

Smart of Marvel to really play up the Magneto v Red Skull with Xavier’s brain concept. Captain America 367, during Acts of Vengeance, is the first time these two fought – and by fought, I mean, Magneto completely beat down Red Skull and locked him away for a while.

ALL-NEW X-FACTOR #15
PETER DAVID (W)
CARMINE DI GIANDOMENICO (A)
Cover by KRIS ANKA & JARED FLETCHER
AXIS TIE-IN!
• Washington is burning!
• Will Serval Enterprises’ X-Factor put out the fire?
• Or will they watch it burn?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Oh wow, even Peter David is getting into a crossover? This might be bigger than I thought it might be. Now I am tempted to only get the main series. Hopefully by the time I can submit my DCBS order, they would have revealed – at least – the covers to the first three issues.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #25
RICK REMENDER (w) • CARLOS PACHECO(a)
Cover by STUART IMMONEN
STOMP OUT BULLYING VARIANT COVER BY TBA
Extra-Sized Issue!
• Who is the All-New Captain America?
• The conclusion to the story that began in Dimension Z as Zola strikes in unison with The Red Skull!
• The final fate of Jet Black!
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99

What is “Stomp Out Bullying” is getting a variant.

I read a rumor that the new Captain America is Falcon, and I think that is pretty awesome. Also, Steve Rogers walking around as if he is a fit 75 year old man, that sounds neat too. It takes him off the board without killing him, which now has happened enough that I’m done with deaths of characters.

Speaking of which :

DEATH OF WOLVERINE: THE LOGAN LEGACY #1 (OF 7)
CHARLES SOULE (W) • OLIVER NOME (A/C)
• Wolverine—the greatest X-Men ever—is dead!
• With this mutant powerhouse now permanently out of the picture, various factions of both good and evil are scrambling to fill the void left by Logan’s death!
• Will Wolverine’s Legacy be shaped by heroes who valiantly fought alongside him …or by those villains treacherous enough to have challenged him over the many years of his long life?
• The answers will be revealed in this special 7-issue limited series that spins directly out of the mega-popular DEATH OF WOLVERINE!
• This series will feature unique solo adventures of several instrumental figures in shaping Logan’s Legacy: X-23, Sabretooth, Daken, Lady Deathstrike and Mystique!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

DEATH OF WOLVERINE: THE LOGAN LEGACY #2 (OF 7)
TIM SEELEY (W) • ARIELA KRISTANTINA (A/C)
• Featuring X-23!
• When X-23 learns about the death of the man who has meant so much to her, who has shaped her purpose, her motivations, her LIFE…will she revel in the fact that her mission is over, or will she go ROGUE?
• And what does this mean for her relationship with the All-New X-Men?
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99

DEATH OF WOLVERINE: THE LOGAN LEGACY #3 (OF 7)
TIM SEELEY (W) • ARIELA KRISTANTINA (A/C)
• Featuring SABRETOOTH!
• With Logan now gone forever, who will stop Sabretooth from finally annihilating everyone and everything in his path?
• Fighting Wolverine was his greatest thrill on the planet…the ultimate sport…but now that Logan is dead, Sabretooth’s rage takes on an entirely new shape and mission–unencumbered and unrestrained.
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99

I can’t believe they are doing these Legacy one shots and they deal with X23, Sabretooth, Daken, Lady Deathstrike and Mystique. They couldn’t do one with Kitty Pryde or even Jubilee? I would buy a Kitty Pryde one, instantly. I imagine that is what is coming out after issue 7 of this series.

NIGHTCRAWLER #7
CHRIS CLAREMONT (w) • TODD NAUCK (a)
Cover by JAMIE McKELVIE
DEATH OF WOLVERINE Aftermath!
• Not so long ago, Nightcrawler was dead.
• Now, with a second lease on life, Nightcrawler struggles to find his place back in the land of the living.
• But now that his best friend, Wolverine, has taken his place in the afterlife, that struggle just got a lot more difficult!
• And he may just find his solace in the last place he (or YOU!) would imagine!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

I do like Kurt dealing with Logan’s death. Does seem silly as he just came back from the dead, so why would anyone think that Logan isn’t going to do the same? Also, Wolverine went to Hell, only a few years ago and came back. This shouldn’t be such a big deal.

Though I must admit, that my issue with AXIS is that it is coming at the same time as Death of Wolverine but it looks like I’m not dealing with that one as much so maybe I can throw a bone towards AXIS.

DEATHLOK #1
NATHAN EDMONDSON (W) • MIKE PERKINS (A/C)
“Enemy of My Enemy”
• After Michael Collins, there was Henry Hayes
• A medic who travels to war zones to heal the wounded, he has no idea that when he’s in the field, he’s activated by a mysterious group and becomes the ultimate weapon of assassination and war: DEATHLOK
• From the writer of BLACK WIDOW and THE PUNISHER comes a new take on the iconic cyborg character making waves on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Season Two of Agents of SHIELD, must be starting around this time, right?

NEW AVENGERS #25
JONATHAN HICKMAN (W) • KEV WALKER (A)
Cover by JACKSON GUICE
IN 7 MONTHS…TIME RUNS OUT!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

AVENGERS #36
JONATHAN HICKMAN (W) • STEFANO CASELLI (A)
Cover by STUART IMMONEN
IN 7 MONTHS…TIME RUNS OUT!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

AVENGERS #37
JONATHAN HICKMAN (W) • STEFANO CASELLI (A)
Cover by JAMIE MCKELVIE
IN 7 MONTHS…TIME RUNS OUT!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Another rumor is that this “Time Runs Out” is leading to the a big Marvel Reboot that might not include the X-Men – which if that were to happened, I would just stop buying Marvel comics (and comics completely) until they course corrected and gave me back Kitty Pryde, Lockheed and Magik.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #8
DAN SLOTT (W) • GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI (A/C)
• Step over the EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE!
• MC2 Spider-Girl finds herself and her family under attack from the mysterious forces behind Spider-Verse!
• Ms. Marvel gets Spider-Man out of a jam.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Spider-Girl is involved in this? This may, in fact, make for an awesome trade.  A super expensive trade, but a good one.

SPIDER-MAN 2099 #4 & 5
PETER DAVID (w) • ISSUE #4 – Will Sliney (a)
ISSUE #5 – Rick Leonardi (a)
Covers by Francesco Mattina
ISSUE #4 –
• Scorpion v.s. Spider-Man 2099 v.s. Spider Slayers seasoned with a bit of social unrest!
• Miguel O’Hara continues the fight for his grandfather’s soul in a literal war zone.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
ISSUE #5 –
• Morlun is hunting spiders of all kinds, across all dimensions and all times.
• By the end of this issue there will be only one Spider-Man 2099!
• Spider-Man 2099 co-creator Rick Leonardi returns for this landmark issue that will take you to the EDGE OF SPIDER-VERSE!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Is the other Spider-Man 2099 option the one from Exiles? That would be cool to see that guy again.

LEGENDARY STAR-LORD #4
SAM HUMPHRIES (W) • FREDDIE WILLIAMS (A)
Cover by PACO MEDINA
STOMP OUT BULLYING VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• The battle to end all battles–Star-Lord vs. Thanos!
• As Peter Quill attempts to return to Earth, he encounters the all-powerful Titan responsible for so much mayhem in his life.
• How can Star-Lord possibly get out of this alive?!
• Plus, a guest appearance by Kitty Pryde!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Now this is how you write a solict! You just put Kitty Pryde’s name in a solict and then I give you $3.99! Thank you!

MARVEL 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION #1
BRUCE TIMM, JAMES ROBINSON, STAN LEE, TOM DEFALCO, LEN WEIN, BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS & MORE (W)
BRUCE TIMM, STAN GOLDBERG, PAUL GULACY, CHRIS SAMNEE, MICHAEL GAYDOS & MORE (A)
Cover by PAOLO RIVERA
• A super-sized celebration of 75 years of the World’s Greatest Comics!
• What happened the day the Marvel Universe was born? James Robinson and Chris Samnee have the answer!

• Wolverine’s “father” Len Wein and Paul Gulacy recount an untold encounter between Logan and Sabretooth!
• And More!
56 PGS./ALL NEW CONTENT/ONE SHOT/ Rated T …$5.99

Glad I checked the cover, as Kitty Pryde is on the upper part of it. Which means, of course, that the logos and such will cover her up. Dang it! Not thrilled about the six dollar price tag either!

SHE-HULK #9
CHARLES SOULE (W)
JAVIER PULIDO (A)
Cover by KEVIN WADA
THE GOOD OLD DAYS, PART 2
• It’s Jennifer Walters versus Matt Murdock in the trial of the century!
• Someone from Cap’s past has come back to haunt them all…and She-Hulk might be his only hope.
• Guest starring Steve Rogers and Daredevil
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

I do like the idea of Daredevil v She-Hulk in the courtroom. Amazed it doesn’t happen more often. Probably as the two are not huge sale increasers for the other.

MIRACLEMAN #11 & 12
THE ORIGINAL WRITER (W) • JOHN TOTLEBEN (A/C)
ISSUE #11 –
• Book Three of the New York Times Bestseller begins!
• From on high above London, Miracleman reveals the legends and tragedies that gave rise to — Olympus!

48 PGS./Parental Advisory …$4.99
ISSUE #12 –
• Gargunza’s final two subjects, Rebbeck and Lear, revealed at last!
• The origin of Miraclewoman!
• Enter: the Warpsmiths!
• Book Three continues in “Aphrodite”!
• Including material originally presented in MIRACLEMAN (1985) #12, plus bonus content.
48 PGS./Parental Advisory …$4.99

So the Olympus storyline begins! This is going to be so frustrating when the $25 trade comes out and I spent well over fifty for it!

ALL-NEW ULTIMATES #9

THE DEADLIEST BATTLE OF THE SUPER STREET WAR!

• The team’s ultimate nemesis finally strikes, and the team will never be the same again!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Glad this isn’t double shipping this month! The Street War is still going on! I imagine it will be the story of the entire 12 issue run (or more!)

32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

So the All New Team is going to the Ultimate Universe, I thought for sure Miles was coming here but maybe it is both. So excited! Kitty has to talk to Miles about Ultimate Kitty! If those two could meet, that would awesome!

UNCANNY X-MEN #27
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • CHRIS BACHALO (A/C)
STOMP OUT BULLYING VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• Turns out being possessed by one of the most powerful entities in the universe can really mess with a guy’s superpowers.
• Life isn’t always a straight line, sometimes there are curves in the road.
• But if there’s anyone who would bend over backwards to reteach himself how to use them, it’s Scott Summers.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

I keep seeing Hasbro variants too, what could that be about?
Finally, we get behind what is wrong with their powers. Scott should totally be able to control his blasts. Its his thing, he’s all about control. Though I will miss the new graphic detail of the curves.
Glad Uncanny isn’t included in AXIS, that should be a good sign.

X-FORCE #10 & 11
SIMON SPURRIER (w) • TAN ENG HUAT (a)

Hey, ForgetMeNot is coming back! That’s pretty awesome! Glad he isn’t slowly dying on the side of the school.

• Some of the industry’s best and brightest lend a hand to say farewell in these two jam-packed issues: Robbi Rodriguez, Jason Latour, Jim Rugg, James Harren & more.
ISSUE #10 – 40 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99
ISSUE #11 – 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Shame that the New Xavier School isn’t doing an issue mourning Logan, as I would like to see Kitty’s reaction to the news, unless she is there in issue four of the event. We still only know that she is on the cover to issue three, and that’s it.

Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus HC CHAYKIN COVER

Penciled by HOWARD CHAYKIN, CARMINE INFANTINO, WALTER SIMONSON, HERB TRIMPE, MICHAEL GOLDEN, AL WILLIAMSON & MIKE VOSBURG

As the phenomenon dawned in 1977, Marvel Comics published the very first STAR WARS comic-book series. Now, the House of Ideas is re-presenting those original adventures in its wampa-sized Omnibus format! It’s the return of the Jedi to Marvel in an opening volume that begins with A NEW HOPE and ends with THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. In between, the rebels face a wealth of new perils — from space pirate Crimson Jack to the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, as well as a surprisingly svelte Jabba the Hut (one “t”). Luke goes back to Tatooine, Leia battles alone, Han and Chewie play the deadly Big Game, and Darth Vader hunts for answers! With all your old favorites and plenty of new faces — hello, Jaxxon! — there’s no doubt, the Force is strong with this one! Collecting STAR WARS (1977) #1-44 and ANNUAL #1.

ISBN: 978-0-7851-9318-0
Trim size: oversized
© 2014 Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. Used under authorization. All rights reserved.

I thought Marvel sold all of these Star Wars rights to Dark Horse and Dark Horse has already released these issues in trades? Maybe I’m wrong about that. $125 is a lot of money but 880 pages is a lot of comics! 45, to be exact!

Thus far, I only own issues two and three, and I would say this is still pretty missable but Marvel’s crossovers all depend on the final issue. If you are going to skip their events, I recommend at least getting the final issue of all of them.

MARVEL MASTERWORKS: THE UNCANNY X-MEN VOL. 9 HC
Written by CHRIS CLAREMONT
Penciled by PAUL SMITH, FRANK MILLER & BRENT ANDERSON with WALTER SIMONSON & MICHAEL GOLDEN
Cover by PAUL SMITH
The Uncanny X-Men had become the biggest franchise in comic books by 1982. Chris Claremont’s writing rose to find perhaps his most poignant and challenging expression of the mutant metaphor in “God Loves, Man Kills,” while his work with Frank Miller on WOLVERINE skyrocketed the character’s popularity. With culmination of Paul Smith’s classic run—featuring the growing romance between Kitty Pryde and Colossus, the first appearance of Callisto and the Morlocks, Rogue’s debut as an X-Man, and the wedding of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor—this Marvel Masterworks is nothing short of a marathon of mutant milestones! Collecting UNCANNY X-MEN (1981) #168-175, UNCANNY X-MEN ANNUAL (1970) #7, MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL #5 and WOLVERINE (1982) #1-4.
432 PGS./Rated T …$75.00
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9154-4
MARVEL MASTERWORKS: THE UNCANNY X-MEN VOL. 9 HC — VARIANT EDITION VOL. 214 (DM ONLY)
432 PGS./Rated T …$75
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9155-1

This is probably the closest we will get to Paul Smith’s run getting a hardcover. Shame it doesn’t start with issue 165, for $75, I wouldn’t be able to buy it but at least complete his entire run.

MARVEL 100TH ANNIVERSARY TPB

A remarkable artifact from the future of Marvel Comics! What happens when Marvel’s favorite heroes hit the centennial mark? It’s 2061, and the world of the Fantastic Four has been turned upside-down, complete with the granddaughter of Doom and the Richards-Banner twins! It’s 100 years after Spider-Man’s creation, and the Kingpin has stolen Spidey’s ultra-powerful techno-symbiote suit! Have the X-Men of 2061 achieved Xavier’s dream of mutants and humans living in harmony? I still feel silly for buying the X-Men 100th Anniversary issue.

104 PGS./Rated T+ …$15.99
ISBN: 978-0-7851-9105-6

So, if you are like me and bought these as individual issues, it cost us $15 so for one more dollar, you could get them bound. That seems like a decent deal. The Uncanny X-Men Special is the only one that has come out thus far, but I liked it. Actually with DCBS, I’m sure it came to $12, so that’s another reason to make the switch to online purchases.

. . .

So I am planning on buying :

Legendary Star Lord 4                        $4
Marvel 75th Anniversary Collection $6
All New Ultimates 9                             $4
All New X-Men 33                                $4
Uncanny X-Men 27                              $4

So that’s $22, so that isn’t horrible. Maybe I will try to get the first few issues of AXIS. Though I won’t be able to read them by the time the second act begins but at least there will be more press releases and such by then.

. . .

EDIT ON AUGUST 5, 2014 TO ADD :

So I have ordered

Legendary Star Lord 4
Marvel 75th Anniversary Celebration
All New Ultimates 9
All New X-Men 33
Uncanny X-Men 33
AXIS 1 – 3

That’s right, I caved and ordered AXIS, each issue was only $1.74 so that’s a pretty good deal.

That brought my total to $18.67 for 8 comics.  That’s a pretty good deal.

With bags and boards and weekly shipping – brings my overall total for October to $39.53!  Just 47 cents below budget.  Let’s do this!

This reminds me, for November and December, I probably will try to do Monthly shipping to save money with the Holidays coming up.  I wonder if we should have done that this month but I didn’t think about it until after I clicked Checkout.  Next time!

Doing twice a month shipping wasn’t that bad this month.

Original Sin 2

Original Sin 2

Writer Jason Aaron

Artist Mike Deodato

Color Artist Frank Martin

Letterer VC’s Chris Eliopoulos

Part Two of Eight

In the previous issue, Uatu the Watcher was murdered.  His eyes and armory were taken.  This issue, we see a masked lady and a hooded man.  They keep talking about the one eye, I’m not sure if the other one is out there or did just the one get stolen.

I really like the character list, as I know who everyone is.

Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Nick Fury, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor

Nova, Storm, Iceman, Black Widow, Kitty Pryde, Thing, Falcon

Luke Cage, Magik, Dardevil

Doctor Strange, Punisher, Thunderbolt Ross, Black Panther, Emma Frost, Ant Man

Mindless Ones

So Black Panther, Emma and Scott Lang Ant Man are looking for clues with the Moloids.  I can only imagine that the previous issue must have had Emma being sassy with Black Panther.  If not, I would be disappointed.

Turns out, the Mindless Ones killed Uatu, but they were clearly following someone’s orders.

Iron Man, really just Tony in a bathrobe and a helmet; along with Bruce Banner – are investigating Mindless One’s energy signature.

Meanwhile, Doctor Strange and Punisher are investigating in some other realm.  I know the Mindless Ones as being foes Doctor Stange faces.  Anyone who has played the Avengers Alliance game on Facebook or Playdom’s own website should recognize them as well.  I had to quit playing Avengers Alliance when they introduced the Elektra Lockboxes in PvP.  The game was becoming something I could no longer keep up with.  Now, there has been so many Lockboxes and Special Operations, that I can’t go back.

I wonder how Punisher gets along with Doctor Strange, that is an unusual pairing.  They work well together this issue, but was it odd last issue?  One day, I will know as there is an Art Adams variant cover with Magik on it.  Not sure if I need issue three yet, but I already know that Kitty is on the Art Adams variant for that issue.  He is doing an interlocking cover for this event.

We get to the scene with the villains.  The hooden man is fascinated by the eye.  The lady just wants a fight.  There is a man in a bed, moaning.  He is being transformed into something.  At first, I thought it was Thing, but he is in another scene, so it isn’t him.

The heroes have the skyscraper that the villains are using as a base, surrounded.  Captain America tells the team that Magik is evacuating the building as quickly as she can teleport people.

The masked lady’s name is Exterminatrix.  I believe she is new.

Original Sin 2 Kitty battlefield

We get an awesome panel of the street team.  They are – Thing, Captain America, Falcon, Luke Cage, Nick Fury, Hulk, Black Widow, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde.  Hulk lets out a yell and Kitty says, what he said.  She is so great.

There is this double page spread of the gathered heroes.  Exterminatrix is captured.  The hooded man isn’t scared as the eye begins to open.

Spider-Man us standing on Hulk, Magik is next to him and Kitty is standing in front of Hulk.

Original Sin 2 Double Page Spread-1

The hooded man takes off his hood, he is The Orb – Z-list super villain with an eye for a head.  I remember him from several different handbooks over the years.

Orb announces that the eye is no longer an eye but a bomb as it glowes brighter than ever.  Thus, the issue ends.  Not bad at all.  I wasn’t confused at all. Not tempted to get issue three but I should order it as I can only imagine that the issue opens still on this scene so Magik and Kitty should still be present.  But I have been burn before, thinking that.

Big Brother 16 : Sunday – July 13, 2014

Posted by John Klein III on July 14, 2014
Posted in: Reality Television. Tagged: BB16, Big Brother. Leave a comment

Here we go!

Can’t Production do something to reflect the evicted houseguests for the title sequence.

Derrick has been revealing the Bomb Squad to everyone!

Jocasta made it to the show!  Now we just need Victoria to do anything.

Christine reveals she was in the Bomb Squad to Nicole.

Joint HoH room!

What does ‘dunk on me’ mean?

Feel bad for Derrick, I wouldn’t feel like I could leave little Walker Dennis for three months, until he was maybe six or so.

I like the idea of splitting Caleb and Amber as nominees on opposite sides.

Hayden and Nicole do make a cute couple.

Derrick plays Caleb so easily!

Good job Amber, figuring out the plan already.

Caleb, never throw a competition!

I like Nicole and Donny working together.  Especially, now that he needs a new lady friend.

Is your buddy, your buddy?

Nominations :

Nicole : Amber / Donny

Derrick : Jocasta / Caleb

I miss them not saying the names.

Derrick has to know what is happening!  Good, he mentions the back door plan

Victoria asking about Frankie’s siblings.

Team America!  Task – make up that a current houseguest is related to a former houseguest.  They have to convince three of their houseguests to spread the rumor.  They are going with their Zach being related to last season’s Amanda.  Who I liked until she blew up, big time and never came back.

Donny’s tears!  Such a sweet guy

I love that she has to tell him not to repeat any information

Brittany looks so cute in that magician hat!  I need a picture of that!  Is she wearing pants?

Frogwarts, get it?

Expecto the unexpected

I like Soduko as well, Donny

Caleb looks like he is not wearing anything under his robe

Donny and Amber won!  Barely

Did Brittany make Nicole disappear!?!

Decent episode

. . .

I finally was able to find the gif that I’ve been looking for.

http://survivorsucks.yuku.com/topic/114503/Brittany-Martinez-Making-a-Deal-with-the-Devin?page=17

Which is this Brittany title sequence gif.  I’ve also posted the best pictures from the first 23 pages.  So now I will probably dial back the photos unless there are any good ones that are worth sharing.

BB16 Brittany Title Sequence

All New Doop 2

All New Doop 2

Writer Peter Milligan

Artist David Lafuente

Color Artist Laura Allred

Letterer VC’s Clayton Cowles

Cover Artists Michael and Laura Allred

Previously : After confessing his undying love to Kitty Pryde, Doop learned how to speak English!

Continuing the best aspect of Battle of the Atom!

All New Doop 2 Kitty Pryde 1

Kitty politely turns Doop’s marriage proposal down.  It isn’t due to him being gross looking.

He sinks into the ground, feeling rejected.  Kitty dives in after him.  Here she learns of, Marginalia – the place between the panels.  The margins, get it?

All New Doop 2 Kitty Pryde 2

We see images from Battle of the Atom.

All New Doop 2 Kitty Pryde 3

Young Bobby finds Doop’s ring on the floor.

Doop takes Kitty to his favorite restaurant – Chateau du Armpit.  Next, to Cinema of Emptiness – the screen is blank.  Then they go dancing.  Doop is doing his best to woo her.

Doop is also trying to get Kitty to accept her irrational side.

Then the BotA portions kick in again.

The three Icemans are talking.  Young Bobby calls Present Bobby, which I find odd.  Shouldn’t they have a cuter name by now?

We see Kate Pryde, that we know really is Raze.

We revisit the Jean and Scott running away and stealing laundry scene.  Kitty isn’t pleased that Doop video taped Jean getting undressed.

This is during the part of BotA where Kitty is deciding what to do.  She wants the Original Five X-Men to decide on their own to go back to their timeline.  The other X-Men want to force them to do it.

We revisit one of my favorite scenes from BotA, where Kitty and Rachel eat Chinese food.

Issue ends with Raze and Doop being in the Doopspace.

. . .

Someone wanted this review maybe a month ago.  Thank you for the interest, having back to back event months put me a little behind on current reviews.  I have maybe ten waiting to go.

Hopefully the comic readers are not losing interest due to all of the Big Brother 16 posts, but those are tracking so well!  Thanks to you newer visitors that are finding my blog through that show.

I can let you know that in August, I have some plans for the Friday posts – so I am not sure how I am going to do the Thursday recap.  Tempted to let it go, but we will see.

I just wanted to to address the comic fans that visit, that show should end in September and I have a quasi-event plan that is comic book related that will take top priority in August.  It shouldn’t be the entire month so I don’t want to refer to it as a Month Event, officially, but I do refer to it as such to myself, so I may slip and call it that here from time to time.  It just rolls better.

So comic readers, please be patient and Big Brother viewers, I hope you like comics and stick around.

I am trying to balance the two groups and it may get dicey, but I hope everyone can, at the very least, enjoy half the posts.

The schedule for July should be Monday / Thursday / Friday – Big Brother posts.  Tuesday / Wednesday / Saturday / Sunday – Comics / Random other posts.

September may be the same but that should be pretty limited, though I can’t seem to find an official last Big Brother 16 finale date.

Thanks to both groups of visitors, again, I really do appreciate everyone who comes to S&FwM – Thank you so much!

Emmy Nominations 2014

Posted by John Klein III on July 12, 2014
Posted in: Award Shows, Fun With YouTube. Tagged: Emmys, YouTube. Leave a comment

So the Emmy’s will air on a Monday, August 25, 2014.  The nominations were announced on Thursday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/66th_Primetime_Emmy_Awards

Like the Oscars, apparently, my wife and I are not watching critically adored shows.  If a show we do watch is nominated, it feels like dumb luck.   That is one of the reasons why I like the MTV Movie Awards, at least those are the movies I watch or want to watch.  The same is true for the People’s Choice Awards.

Here is who I hope wins or just what shows we watch – thus, only those should win.

Programs

Outstanding Comedy Series

  •     Big Bang Theory
  •     Modern Family
  •     Orange is the New Black
  •     Silicon Valley (I watch this one on my own)

Of those four shows, I hope Orange is the New Black wins it as that will encourage Netflix to really put some money behind the Marvel series that are coming.  Plus, it is a good show and I believe it won last year.  I really liked Silicon Valley, it was a short season but I liked where it was going towards the end.

Outstanding Drama Series

  •      Downton Abbey (my wife watches this)
  •      Game of Thrones (my wife watches this, I have to eventually – she started without me and now its too late for me)
  •      Mad Men (my wife watches this)
  •      True Detective (we started this and saw the first four episodes and the rest are sitting on our DVR)

This has to be the last year Breaking Bad wins, right?  I thought that was true of last year but here it is again.  I’m hoping True Detective wins, just because it is the only show I’ve seen.

Outstanding Variety Show

  •      Saturday Night Live

It really is the only series nominated that I follow.  I tried Fallon but like all late night shows (besides Conan) I only watch pending on the celebrity guests.  Does anyone watch every episode?

Outstanding Miniseries

  • American Horror Show : Coven (we saw the first four episodes, the rest are on our DVR)

Again, just the one show we saw – sort of – so here’s hoping it wins.  Actually, I want to say that we deleted them and gave up on it.  The first two seasons were pretty good but we had a lot of shows and not enough time to watch them all.  We are thinking of switching to Hulu at the end of the summer, so maybe we can do more shows that way.  No interest in the Clown season that is coming up.

Outstanding Television Movie

  • Killing Kennedy
  • The Normal Heart

Glad Normal Heart was nominated as I only watched it as I thought it would be.  Still rather have Killing Kennedy win, shout outs to Bill O’Reilly!

Outstanding Reality – Competition Program

  • Amazing Race
  • Dancing with the Stars
  • Top Chef
  • Voice

Not sure why Big Brother is never nominated, though last season makes sense as it was full of racists and fools.  That’s a tough category.  My vote would be Top Chef, next Voice, Amazing Race then Dancing with the Stars.

Acting

     Lead Performances

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

  • Don Cheadle as Marty Kaan on House of Lies
  • Matt LeBlanc as Himself on Episodes
  • William H. Macy as Frank Gallagher on Shameless
  • Jim Parsons as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory

I do love LeBlanc being nominated for playing himself.  He won last year so it could happen again.  Macy and Parsons, these two are tough as they are both my least favorite characters on their respected shows.  The Mace did some amazing acting this year though, so he should probably win it.  It dawns on me now that NPH never won an Emmy for HIMYM.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

  • Taylor Schilling as Piper Chapman on Orange Is the New Black

To be honest, we still haven’t seen the final episode of the first season.  I heard that someone was leaving with the first episode of season two (which I believe turn out to not to be true) so we wanted to wait and watch them both back to back.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

  • Jeff Daniels as Will McAvory on Newsroom
  • Matthew McConaughey as Rustin Cohle on True Detective
  • Woody Harrelson as Martin Hart on True Detective

If McConaughey wins, he will have to on a very short list of people who have won an Oscar and an Emmy in the same year.  Right?  I see another year of Charlie Hunnam being completely overlooked for Sons of Anarchy.  I swear, the stuff the show has Jax Teller do and how beautifully Hunnam handles it, he should be nominated every single year.  With the next season being the last, hopefully he can get nominated eventually!  My choice to win would be Jeff Daniels.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

  • Lizzy Caplan as Virginia Johnson on Masters of Sex
  • Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison on Homeland

To be honest, I had to stop watching Masters of Sex, with maybe five episodes left.  I just couldn’t fit it in as my wife didn’t want to watch it and it felt pervy to me to watch it on my own so late at night.  Was a good show though and Caplan deserves to win.  With Danes’ nomination, I notice that my least favorite characters’ actors keep getting nominated.  What does that mean?

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie

  • Mark Ruffalo as Ned Weeks on The Normal Heart

This keeps paying off!

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie

  • Jessica Lange as Fiona Goode on American Horror Story : Coven
  • Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode on American Horror Story : Coven

I do not see why people love Lange so much on these AHS series, she’s horrible and not so horrible that she is amazing, I just don’t like her characters.  Paulson should be winning instead.

Supporting Performannces

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

  • Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family
  • Jesse Tyler Ferguson as MItchell Pritchett on Modern Family

I do like how Modern Family’s cast does nominations like how Friends apparently did, where they nominate everybody.  Modern Family fails at this by renominated those who have won in the past.  They seem to have finally stopped that for this year.  Here’s hoping Burrell wins.  Phil and Alex are two of my favorites on the show.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

  • Mayim Bialik as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Fang Theory
  • Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy on Modern Family
  • Kate McKinnon as Various Characters on Saturday Night Live
  • Kate Mulgrew as Galina “Red” Reznikov on Orange is the New Black

My wife will like Bialik being nominated.  She loves saying “Amy Farrah Fowler.”  She really is the best part of Sheldon.  Surprise McKinnon got nominated as she was barely in most of the episodes, at least, towards the end.  Mulgrew would be cool as I doubt she was ever nominated for Voyager.  My vote would probably be for Bialik.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

  • Mandy Patinkin as Saul Berenson on Homeland

I guess Patinkin is my choice to win

Took until Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series before I didn’t have a choice.  Probably Christina Hendricks in Mad Men, as I’m that guy.

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie

  • Matt Bomer as Felix Turner on Normal Heart
  • Joe Mantello as Mickey Marcus on Normal Heart
  • Alfred Molina as Ben Weeks on Normal Heart
  • Jim Parsons as Tommy Boatwright on Normal Heart

Wow, did that ever pay off!  I will be all for Molina getting the win here!  It was crazy seeing Hulk and Doctor Octopus on screen at the same time.  Like watching Sally Field (Aunt May) and Molina go at it in, Not Without My Daughter.  Parsons winning would be another one of those short list things, winning two awards, one in Comedy, the other in Drama – that has to not have happen to often.

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie

  • Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau on American Horror Story : Coven
  • Kathy Bates as Delphine LaLaurie on American Horror Story : Coven
  • Ellen Burstyn as Olivia Foxworth on Flowers in the Attic
  • Frances Conroy as Myrtle Snow on American Horror Story : Coven
  • Julia Roberts as Dr. Emma Brookner on Normal Heart

Once I saw Julia Roberts was in that movie, I knew she was going to be nominated.  It is the type of role that the Academy are suckers for.

Directoring

Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series

  • Episodes (Nine) by Iain B. MacDonald
  • Modern Family (Las Vegas) by Gail Mancuso
  • Orange is the New Black (Lesbian Request Denied) by Jodie Foster
  • Silicon Valley (Minimum Viable Product) by Mike Judge

I like Louis CK (Home Movies represent, yo!) being nominated but I don’t watch that show – I know, I’m horrible.  Jodie Foster is probably going to win for being Jodie Foster.  I want to say I notice her name in the credits, as I’m that guy who looks for names I recognize in opening credits of television shows).  Mike Judge created Silicon Valley so I would like him to win something for it.  Also, Pamela Fryman didn’t win for HIMYM, flipping Academy of fools!

Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series

  • True Detective (Who Goes There) by Cary Joli Fukunaga

Well, that was easy!

Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series

  • Saturday Night Live by Don Roy King

I suppose it takes a lot of work to make it all run smoothly but is that his job or someone else’s?

Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special

  • American Horror Story : Coven (Bitchcraft) by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon
  • Normal Heart by Ryan Murphy

I’ll go for Glee and AHS creator, Ryan Murphy – then everybody wins.  Sort of.

Writing

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series

  • Episodes (Five) by David Crane
  • Orange is the New Black (I Wasn’t Ready) by Liz Friedman & Jenji Kohan
  • Silicon Valley (Optimal Tip-to-Tip Efficiency) by Alec Berg

I like Crane winning as he co-created this show and Friends.  Same for Kohan creating her show and Weeds.  If Tip-to-Tip is the series finale, then Berg totally deserves the win.  Probably Louie CK will win for Louie.  He usually does.

Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series

  • True Detective (Secret Fate of All Life) by Nic Pizzolatto

Show creator, as well, if I remember my HBO First Look, correctly.

Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series

  • Inside Amy Schumer

Its a good show!  Maybe not every segment but at least two good ones per.  Which is better that most weekly variety series.

Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or Dramatic Special

  • American Horror Story : Coven (Bitchcraft) by Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk
  • Normal Heart by Larry Kramer

Probably go more for Normal Heart for this one.  Though there were a slew of unlikeable characters.  I wonder why ‘Dramatic’ isn’t the go to word for all of these categories.  In a Dramatic Series looks and sounds more right than In a Drama Series.  Maybe it is just me.

This year, I was able to do this based off of the shows we actually watch.  Usually, I open it up to the actors or creative types that I like – which is what I have to do for the Oscars, as we can’t see every movie that is nominated and some of those films – to be honest – have no appeal to us.  But once it comes on HBO or Showtime, we record them.  Which is how we are going to watch Gravity this weekend.

My favorite Emmy’s moment is the Jimmy Fallon and Friends Born to Run.

Thanks to YouTuber Springsteen.

The Friends are – Tina Fey, Randy Jackson, Jon Hamm, Joel McHale, Jorge Garcia, Nina Dobrev, Kate Gosselin, Randy Jackson and Betty White plus the Glee Gang with an appearance by the Tim Gunn!

The one I always forget is Nina Dobrev.

The song starts at the 2:36 mark.
