Cover by Frank Miller
Cover Dated January 1985
I own this for the Terry Austin Portfolio with Kitty Pryde, Lockheed, Rogue and Storm.
It is a real shame the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles never had a crossover with the X-Men. Then I could have done an easier tie-in post for the movie. I remember during the 90s, there was a slew of ads stating “Teenagers favorite mutants are no longer Turtles” and it had a picture of Cyclops and Wolverine, drawn by Jim Lee. I recall thinking that you can enjoy both.
For my money, the Turtles have never been drawn better than when they were drawn by Chris Allan. I imagine some of the credit has to go to Barry Grossman, the colorist. When I think Ninja Turtles, without a doubt, I am mentally imagining Chris Allan.
Barry Grossman was essentially the colorist for the entire series, only missing a few issues here and there.
The writer for most of TMNT Adventures was Dean Clarrain, writing issues 5 through 40, and 42 through 66.
The title started off adopting an episode of the 80s series over three issues and then they started new concepts for issue four. The original art is a bit rough on the eyes, and I would say skip all of that until issue 24.
Issue 24 is Chris Allan’s first issue on the title. His runs are 24 and 25. Then 28 through 44, 46 through 60 and 62 through 70. I remember when I was buying it monthly and for those few fill-ins, being completely disappointed.
I own all 72 issues of the series, besides 53, 56 and 61. Who knows what happen those three months of why I didn’t get those issues, it was a while ago.
The series ran from March 1989 through to October 1995.
The series is mostly known for The Future Shark Trilogy, which is an amazing story if you ever want to try the series out, I would recommend those issues. I like a few other storylines :
Midnight Sun, 28 – 30
The Future Shark Trilogy, 42 – 44
The Black Hole Trilogy, 48 – 50 <- this was the storyline that I finally took note of the creative team, including the colorist, everything felt right with the series.
Terracide, 55 – 57
Blindsight, 59 – 60
Dreamland, 62 – 66 <- The sequel to the Future Shark Trilogy
Moon Eyes, 67 – 70
How the Turtles Got Their Weapons, 71 – 72 <- There is this whole issue with the creative team getting in trouble for getting pretty far away from Archie standards (the publisher of the series) and so they were taken off the title and these two issues came out as place holders. Unfortunately, they ended the series. I remember waiting for issue 73 to come out, and waiting once a month came and gone. I didn’t realize the printing schedule and there was no Google then. I gave up on it, figuring it must have ended at 72.
Chris Allan and Dean Clarrain have done work for Mirage, the original creators / publishers of the Turtles, for Tales of TMNT, and it is always nice to get additional work from the team. These stories are in black and white and are gorgeous. For a while, Mirage would hint that the third part of Future Turtles, Forever War, was coming but with the rights being sold to Nickelodeon, that story will never see the light of day. Clarrain has the plots out there for the first few issues and I believe there is a cover or two by Allen out there to be found.
Chris Allan hasn’t done work, according to comicbookdb, since June 2007, with issue 35 of Tales of TMNT. His complete work on that title are issue numbers 6, 19, 27 and 35. When I sold that collection, I kept those issues.
I have my Kitty Pryde collection and my Adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with a selection of Tales of TMNT.
From what I can gather, Chris Allan did some Sonic related work for Archie but I could never get into that series.
Anyone know what Chris Allan is up to these days?
Also part of my Ninja Turtle collection is the Image series, that ran for 22 issues from June 1996 to October 1999, when Mirage got the rights back. I mostly love it for Raphael becoming the Shredder. I went from being a die hard Leonardo fan to a Raphael convert right there and then.
This series was written by Gary Carlson and drawn by Frank Fosco, and it is a shame that this series isn’t held in any regard. They did some drastic changes to the Turtles, to be edgy I guess so I get why they started fresh again. Donatello became a cyborg, Raphael was blinded in the eye, Leonardo lost a hand and Michelangelo fell in love.
A great blog for the Ninja Turtles is :

I really like Mark Pellegrini’s way he sets up his reviews. A recap, where it falls in the run of the comic, any footnotes and then his review and rating.
Besides checking it out on a pretty regular basis. I can get caught up in just rereading his reviews of the
Archie Comics

and
Image Comics

runs of the titles but he is covering every possible comic appearance they have made and he does his own researched articles which are always informative.

Big Brother 16 : Thursday – August 7, 2014
Who went home first? How much fun is a Double Eviction episode? Let’s find out!
Julie wearing an age appropriate blue dress. No goofy one liners, this is already a good live episode.
I like how the voice over narrator uses the superhero names. Let’s get as much usage out of them as possible.
If Zach goes home tonight, they should just take him and Amber out of the title sequence.
Narrator said “double eviction night, baby”
Two members of the jury! One of them will surely come back, as there are too many weeks left.
Never good when people stop talking whem you enter a room. In RL and in the house.
Derrick has to talk Frankie down.
They sure are wasting a bunch of time for this first eviction. The final HoH is probably not going to be seen or named this episode.
Houseguests put too much concern in jury votes. They have to vote between two people, as long as you are one of the final two and played better than the other player, you just won $500,000!
Is that why so much of this episode is pre-vote? Zach may not be going to jury first.
Big move, five member alliance – and four non member houseguests
Double HoH isn’t dead yet, just skipping for the middle of the episode.
Jocasta, wasting a bunch time on a double eviction night!
Zach did a poem, awesome!
I would also be plugging all my websites
The Votes :
Donny – Zach
Caleb – Jocasta
Christine – Jocasta
Derrick – Jocasta
Cody – Jocasta
I want more fun hallway antics
Hayden – Zach
Frankie – Jocasta
Not an unanimous vote for once
Jocasta going home!
Victoria – Jocasta
No way America votes Jocasta back in.
Zach being a bit of a dick with the loud clapping
I wish Production cut to Nicole’s face instead of Hayden’s.
Julie keep this interview short!
Jocasta was born to be interviewed.
Julie wanted Jocasta to repeat “expect the unexpected” so bad
Nicole picked the wrong week to be HoH. Now, Donny and Hayden needs to win.
Quiz, so PoV will be the diving in balls competition that ended Jeff’s second game.
Out Round One – nearly everyone
Caleb, Christine and Zach are left. Bye bye Donny, Nicole or Hayden
Zach out on Round Two
Round Four – Caleb won HoH!
Double eviction never goes our way. Someone we like always goes home. We forget this every time
This is the first traditional Nomination ceremony of the season.
Caleb nominated – Hayden and Donny
Come on Donny, win this!
Nicole needs to be picked to play, win it and take one of the guys off
Team America Task – can’t believe they are doing this tonight of all nights – we may be losing one of them. The options – Convince a player to be a pawn and end up evicting them OR each member form a fake alliance with who they trust the least. The second one is far easier and less costly.
Does Dylan McDermott have a five television series deal with CBS?
PoV Players –
Christine, Caleb, Hayden, Donny, Zach and Victoria
Yep, the balls are back.
Shoot Nicole wasn’t picked, there goes that plan.
Donny won!!!! Yes!!!
Donny almost died!
Team America Task is still on! But will Donny even care anymore? I wouldn’t care if he started sabotaging the tasks.
Donny is a PoV Champ! He is also all by himself in the house.
Poor Donny is out of breath.
Nicole is the renomination. She looks pretty tonight.
I rather have Hayden go than Nicole. Not sure who I want to win now. That isn’t true, Donny is my pick to win.
Victoria becomes the hot girl in the house, by default. Shoot
Nicole’s speech should be pure rage
Hayden’s speech trying to blow up Christine’s game. Poor guy is still super winded.
Nicole pointed out some decent facts, but not enough to stir anything.
Votes :
Cody – Nicole
So she is gone
Christine – Hayden
Maybe not
Derrick – Hayden
Donny – Nicole
Frankie – Hayden
Zach – Hayden
Hayden is gone! Yes! Nicole stays!
Victoria – Hayden
Why did Cody vote the other way?
Hayden got a nice hug from Nicole
Donny – Nicole – Victoria HAS to form an alliance
Nicole has to win HoH tonight!
My wife just reminded me that Nicole now has to pack his bag some time tonight.
Hayden and Nicole are nothing like Jeff & Jordan.
Hayden could be great as a return guest.
HoH competition will probably be sometime Friday.
Nicole is spreading the word she was given all week. It really is her only play.
As we head towards the finale, which was recently announced as September 24th!
Hopefully football doesn’t throw the shows off too much, or at least, KXLH does a better job of informing us of any changes ahead of time. Only once last season did they update their website with the proper start times. But I’m going to be preemptive and call them during proper 8a to 5p hours and just be a real hassle for them.
I want to say football only messed with the Sunday episodes but still, those are important episodes.
Onto this episode! Who won PoV and how does that change the course of the show?
Was that a Batman PoV creature?
I follow someone on Tumblr who has been upset all week about Zach maybe going home.
Victoria is a Battle of the Block champion.
Nicole is the first lady HoH.
Caleb is freaking out about shaving his head. He’s young, it will grow back and quickly.
Frankie and Nicole, so awkward.
Caleb and Victoria are both Adam & Eve and tied together for 48 hours.
Beast Mode Adam and Princess Eve, they do not like each other. Britney and Brendan at least tried to have a decent time.
Victoria shaves Caleb’s head, he looks good. I should shave my head.
Another alliance? Nicole, Hayden, Derrick and Cody
Cody has disappeared in this house.
Quadolopis is a better name than The Rationale.
Are Nicole and Christine no longer friends?
Christine is the worst for making up the rumor that Hayden and Victoria made out.
Nicole looks great without her glasses on.
Dang, all of this in the first 15 minutes? That is a lot of show!
The shower has been split between cold and hot water. I wonder if a Have Not ever took a shower while a Have has, and made the cold shower better.
Veto Players :
Nicole – Caleb
Zach – Christine
Jocasta – Victoria
Which is funny as Victoria was already up there due to Caleb being picked.
Zach is over using ‘fruit loop dingus’
Nicole looked great in that blue shirt
Victoria spent most of the 48 hours putting on her makeup.
Must be insane to get all the Detonators together without raising suspicions.
Frankie is the host.
Each player plays completely by themselves.
Comics theme competition!!!
I wonder who the artists were for those covers?
Frankie was not the host.
The heroes :
The Beard – Donny
Decaffinator – Christine
The Joey – Joey
Beast Mode Cowboy – Caleb
Femme Fatale – Amber
Crustacean- Hayden
Fashionista – Victoria
Flamingo – Frankie
Holy Roller – Jocasta
Dad-bot – Derrick
Zach Attack – Zach
Pow Pow – Pao Pao
Super Soccer Mom – Brittany
I was able to read 13 on my own
Nicole and Cody, not sure how to spell them
Efronator – Cody
Mr. Personality – Devin
Oktober Fist – Nicole
Nicole said wiener, a bunch
The BB logo is the old school DC logo
Zach may have broken something on the set
Zach lost more than the competition out there
Christine won Veto!
Wish there was some Marvel representation.
I love that Big Brother got some comic book love on air.
Hopefully I can find a website with all of the covers. I want to say I saw a few on Tumblr and wasn’t sure what they were in relation to.
This website credits the artists :
http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/08/06/big-brother-comic-book-covers/
The 48 hours have come to an end. They did not get closer.
Nicole and Hayden making out and cuddling.
Why is Chef Gordon Ramsey doing an AT&T cell phone commercial? I really like that actress who plays Lily, Milana Vayntrub.
Veto Ceremony :
Zach’s speech was just a silly joke.
Jocasta’s speech was lousy.
Christine is the first person to not use the Veto this season.
I don’t care who goes home between Zach and Jocasta.
Nicole calling Zach a fruit loop dingus, is pretty funny.
Oh that’s right, double eviction! So exciting!
Hey Production, you jibbed us five minutes!
By Tom Nguyen
Also did Joey
By Michael Borkowski
Also did – Amber, Caleb, Frankie, Hayden and Jocasta
Writer Michael Fiffe
Artist Amilcar Pinna
Color Artist Nolan Woodard
Letterer VC’s Clayton Cowles
I’m starting to really like how when the Penciler / Inker is the same person, Marvel seems to be changing Colorist to Color Artist. I recognize them doing it and I enjoy it.
Last issue, Jessica got poison towards the end of the issue. This issue opens with Kitty finding a doctor who helps former SHIELD agents and cures Jessica. I sort of love how easy and simple this solution is! Of course they can just fix her, it is a comic. There is no need to drag that subplot out for issues upon issues.
As the two ladies are looking for a taxi, I recognize something about Pinna’s art style that I wish I didn’t. He draws people’s irises pretty large. Like their eyes are nearly full and then their eyes take up 30 percent of their faces. I’m sure I’m exaggerating but now I can’t notice how big their eyes are. It isn’t anime eyes, as that I would recognize and move on. It just seems like cartoon eyes in a comic that I’m not use too.
After school. Blocks away from Laguardia High. A group of teenage girls, including Lana – are talking about what to do next. I didn’t recognize Lana – at all. Even after she mentions Poey. Which should have been a dead give away. I thought it was suppose to be like the Ultimate version of Lana Lang or something. Which is odd as I’m not much of a Superman fan and I haven’t thought of Smallville in forever.
Lana is going to see her boyfriend, Poey. We see that in the shadows that Spider-Man is watching. Which I like how subtle his costume looks in the shadows. It really is a pretty sweet costume that Miles has.
Lana gets to Poey’s place and we learn that he is selling drugs for his uncle. She wants to go to the meet site. Spider-Man has followed her there. Poey eventually agrees to take her. She mentions her mother being in jail and it dawns on me that this may actually be Bombshell.
There is a scene with the cops and it makes me realize that I have no interest in the cops nor Serpent Skulls. I believe it is due to how much I don’t know the team themselves so more characters don’t attract me. They distract and deny me what I really want, more team interactions.
Jessica and Kitty are in their uniforms and they come across Scourge spray painting a wall. They chase him, he tries to shoot them. We get Pinna doing that fade effect that I loved from the previous issue as Spider-Woman jumps over a dumpster and lands. She isn’t wearing that brown jacket so the costume looks somewhat okay.
I called her Spider-Woman but she really is going by Black Widow – I have to watch for that. She tells Shadowcat to call the rest of the team.
In classic early 24 where Jack Bauer forgot to turn off his cell phone, Spider-Man does the same. So a room full of drug dealers start shooting at him as his phone wasn’t on vibrate, at the very least. Bombshell takes advantage of the distraction to start using her power as no one is watching her.
Shadowcat gives chase to Scourge. Cloak and Dagger show up. I really like the light trim on Cloak’s … cloak. It really breaks up the darkness and is a simple yet superb addition to his costume. Proper Marvel Universe Cloak needs to be told about this!
Scourge gives them the slip and the team has to regroup and be humble by the not-so-victory.
Spider-Man is webbing drug dealers. The leader of the Serpent Skulls gets knocked out by him and Poey doesn’t notice that his girlfriend has hand blasting powers. Lana and Poey take off, leaving Spider-Man to wait for the police. I’m sure once they get there, he’s just going to swing away as the New York City Police do not like superheroes now that SHIELD isn’t covering for them.
Thanks to my good pal, Kaiolino, for screen capping Kitty’s newest costume! He nailed it on the head with how it looks just like the Generation X uniforms they used way back in 2000! Minus the flair. She needs a belt, at the very least.
So now both Kitty and Jessica both seriously need new uniforms, right after getting new ones!
From Generation X issue 62 – even Monet couldn’t pull it off!
Cover by Terry and Rachel Dodson
The team regroups and laugh about how they are not quite there as a team yet. They also joke about how a superhero is dating a drug dealer. I could go for a full issue of just them as a team, hanging out!
Bombshell and Spider-Man were working as a team the entire time, she’s a double agent!
Black Widow apologizes to Bombshell, she really wants them to be friends.
I think my problem with Pinna’s eyes are that with brown eyes, I don’t notice it, its Jessica’s green eyes that pop with Woodard’s coloring and so I’m noticing the bigness.
I also really like how dense this comic is. Not even six pages into it, do I have the thought that I’m reading a modern Claremont comic. Fiffe gets a bunch of dialogue into this comic and I love how it took me actual time to read this issue. I could go for more of this. Fiffe also lets Pinna do what he does best and also leaves the art to speak for itself at times. They really are a great team together!

This comic could clearly be part of any number of event months, but Frank Miller got us here first.
All proceeds from this comic book are being donated to famine relief and recovery in Africa. I bought this as a back issue, so I am not sure if when I bought it, that was still the case.
The X-Men fight Hunger, both the concept and embodiment.
The best way to get 21 different creative teams to do a comic is to break it up into segments and that is exactly what they do here.
Stan Lee opens the comic with Rachel screaming.
The X-Men come running towards her. The team at this moment is – Rachel, Magneto, Nightcrawler, Storm, Rogue, Colossus and Kitty. The X-Men, minus Kitty, rush outside to see that they are now in the desert. Off in the distance, is Kitty trying to save the post carrier.
Kurt tries to teleport to Kitty but is in extreme pain and has to go back. Wolverine runs over to Kitty but by the time he gets there, he is starving and withering away. So is Kitty. Then strangely, Wolverine decides to kill the post carrier and once he does, the yard reverts back to normal.
I just like that Stan Lee got his one chance to write Kitty Pryde and made her a hero.
The team breaks out, Rogue and Rachel are looking for who could be behind this attack. The others are inside, taking care of Kitty.
After no one having any success, we get our first of many segments. Colossus is swimming and there is nothing else he can do, as he is the worst. Kurt and he have a very awkward conversation regarding the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz, that I don’t quite get. Then Colossus is put into a dream sequence where the rest of the X-Men have his power, but slicker. They don’t feel anything and they want him to be the same. He revels in it, then is shame face when the illusion stops.
Storm sees from the mansion, Colossus crying. She judges him to be weak as Kurt hugs him.
Kitty asks if anyone wants to join her for lunch. When she enters the kitchen, we begin the Stephen King written scene. Oh man, the horror legend sure does put Kitty through her paces, having her wither to the bone and beyond. She feels intense hunger as she deteriorates more and more. She is feeling all of this as each panel is like a second in time as she crumbles to the ground. The cloak figure taunts her.
This is the scene that we learn who the villain is, Hunger.
Kurt walks in and we are now down, two X-Men. Then this transitions to Kurt’s nightmare which relates to his religious belief and JC is mentioned.
Kitty is able to get it together enough to hug Kurt, taking him out of his illusion.
The rest of the X-Men are keeping busy, looking for any additional signs of threats.
The Alan Moore written section is all about Magneto. In his illusion, he finally has won the war – mutants are now the dominate species on the planet. The downside is that the planet is barren now. People are starving all across the planet.
The Rachel segment is about her reaching out telepathically for any trace of Hunger. The result is that she is overloaded with the sensation and in her dreamscape, becomes a Hound again. This is still early in her history, so her reference to being a hound is the easy to go reference. There is a moment when the Dark Phoenix shows up and she is proud of Rachel’s Hound days – which is pretty messed up.
Next, are these three pages Harlan Ellison wrote, Frank Miller drew, Bill Sienkiewicz inked, John Workman lettered and Christie Scheele colored. Of course, Frank Miller got the Wolverine section.
Pretty awesome sequence with Logan, the man having to fight with Wolverine, the animal. He comes out the better for it.
The Storm sequence is pretty interesting. It seems to be an excuse to show Storm in various states. The first one is being an overweight with kids. Which is cool to see but the other images are of her in sexy outfits. This is during the time when she doesn’t have her powers. The other outfits are cheerleader, a fairy and a seductress. There is also a grandmother type version too.
Storm snaps out of her illusion and is ready for a fight. She gathers the X-Men and they get on a plane to Africa. There is this sad moment, on the plane, when Rogue realizes that she hasn’t had an encounter yet and wonders why.
Once they get to Africa, they are shocked by how many of them are starving. Just then, a plane comes in and we start the George RR Martin segment.
This new plane is fully loaded with food. The Africans start walking towards it, but there are too many and some are being forced into the direction of the propellers. Good thing the X-Men are there to start saving people. Once they save everyone who is in danger, they assist in dealing out all of the food.
This is the first of the references to how grave the famine situation is in Ethiopia, Africa and how the X-Men feel powerless to do anything. But they are not powerless, they can volunteer their time (and money) toward the relief efforts.
Surprised Storm never makes a reference to being back home or how this isn’t how she left her great continent.
Rogue gets her second sad moment when a young boy walks up to her. She offers him some food and he touches her face. Instead of her absorbing his lifeforce, he dies from the effort of just walking over to her.
This launches Rogue into her segment of the title. She goes to her fellow X-Men, and either kisses or touches them, absorbing her powers (they don’t go into why she kisses some and touches others) and once she has all of their powers, she heads out to where she feels Hunger is at his strongest. She doesn’t power with Storm, as she doesn’t have any powers. Thus, Storm is the only person who can later assist Rogue.
Rogue finds the temple that Hunger has been using as a base. Hunger grabs her and she tries to absorb his abilities and instead, the process is reversed and Hunger now as a human host.
Storm comes in, demanding that Hunger let go of Rogue. It refuses. We learn that it feds off of despair, which being hungry and deaths from starvation are a pretty good source of despair.
Storm decides to delay Hunger until Rogue’s absorbed powers fade away. Pretty cool how the story reveals which powers are gone as if you see the X-Man, then that means that power is gone now. The first is Kurt, as he teleports Storm away from Hunger.
Wolverine is next to fight Hunger Rogue. Next is Colossus, followed by Kitty. Hunger knows that they won’t really hurt him as if they do, they will be hurting their friend.
Rachel is able to free Rogue’s mind of Hunger, so now they saved her but have the disembodied Hunger to deal with again.
Kurt is the first to realize that their victory is barely that. Magneto tells him that they have to take the safety of the team to be the true victory.
Storm reveals Hunger’s origins, that it may have been the first primal mutant. Rachel states that it will live forever as there will always be despair. Which now that I’ve typed despair so much, I’m reminded of the Marvel villain – D’Spayre, who has the same power absorption.
The X-men are left with nothing to do but to keep volunteering in Africa, as long as they are there and to keep the plight of those starving in their minds and hearts.
Rogue is able to fed a young boy, and he is able to take the food, so the issue ends on an up beat.
The inside back over is a letter from Jim Shooter, explaining how the project came together – in large part due to the efforts of Berni Wrightson.
This link from Jim Shooter’s website goes into even more background of the comic :

Some great insights there! Funny story about Stephen King and how he gave them 3,000 words for three pages. They did cram as much as they could.
If you want to know more about the 1983 – 1985 famine in Ethiopia, here is the Wikipedia page –

We know who won HoH but let’s see how it happens! Plus, Battle of the Block!
We see Nicole and Donny win HoH.
Was Nicole HoH before? I do not remember that. Oh yeah, she put Donny up.
So excited about these two being HoH.
Derrick is concern about Donny.
Derrick and Jocasta have a nice moment, the only parents left in the house.
Production, if there is whispering, auto caption that!
Be so awesome if Donny put up Derrick and Frankie.
Zach offering to put himself up, to Nicole. Weird
Derrick and Frankie are rightly mad at Donny for costing them both five thousand dollars.
The only way to get Frankie out, is through back door.
Derrick, the hardest playing houseguest.
The House now knows Donny has a pretty girlfriend.
Nicole was very pretty in high school.
Donny probably shouldn’t have read his letter aloud.
Caleb offering Donny some decent deals.
Nicole nailed Hayden in the junk with a cue ball!
Team America all wearing red
No way Donny puts up Jocasta.
Zach should be nicer to Nicole, pre nominations.
Nominations :
Nicole – Jocasta & Zach
Donny – Caleb & Victoria
Battle of the Block makes HoH overthink nominations.
Put up those you want, and have them on notice.
I like Nicole comparing Zach to Evel Dick and having Zach come up lacking.
Must be so awkward for Jocasta, while on the toilet, having to hear the game talk of those waiting for her to be done in there.
I love how physical Zankie is!
Mama J, oh Jocasta – I could like you
This must be the most Pre-BotB conversations we have seen.
Both Nicole and Caleb ate bananas this episode, now I want one!
For dinner, I used yellow onions instead of white – the recipe was so much better.
Battle of the Block :
Is Christine dressed as Pee Wee Herman?
The competition? They have to place giant Dominoes, oooof
Jocasta mentioned her alliance – her, the father, the son and the holy ghost. Well done
No one wants to shave their head. I would be okay with that.
Beast mode princess = Victoria
Both failed their first attempts
Caleb and Victoria won! Donny is no longer HoH. But suffer to –
Two weeks of slop
Shave head, for one of them
Be tied together, and wear Adam and Eve costumes
Jocasta’s phone diary room sessions are getting worst!
Nicole is still HoH, so both Jocasta and Zach are nominated.
PoV on Wednesday!

I own this due to the profile for Feron. Plenty of Excalibur references but no Kitty shout outs.
I’m spotlighting it here for the Frank Miller drawn, Eternity.
Post 400!
What better way to kick off Frank Miller Month than the very first instance of his work being animated!
I know there is Parts One and Two of Dark Knight Returns, but I haven’t seen those yet. I believe they are on Netflix now but I barely have time to watch the shows I want to watch but one of these days.
Thanks to YouTuber pavsthewarrior for hosting the video!
Also – Happy 75th Birthday, Batman!
As a gift of Batman, you should totally read Batman : Year One and Dark Knight Returns. Sort of the be-all end-all of Batman. I sort of wish Frank Miller was able to do a story that took place somewhere in between those two.

Future History! Part Two of Three
Cover Dated July 1994
Before the Trial of Jean Grey, this was the only comic I own that relates to the Guardians of the Galaxy. Not the Guardians that are starring in their own movie that is out today. But this is the only comic I own to tie in with the film, so here we go!
The story that Kitty appears in, isn’t the main story, but the backup story.
The backup story is the second part of Uilig, the last Watcher, as he continues to tell the story of what transpired from 1994 Present Day Marvel to Marvel 3000.
This second part is all about the X-Men.
Ads we skipped to get here : The Lion King coming to theaters as is The Shadow. I’ve been wanting to watch The Shadow for years now. I almost bought the bare bones BluRay but I couldn’t justify the twenty dollars to myself.
The Sentinels started killing everybody in an event called, The Great Injustice.
Part One of this tale is printed in Guardians of the Galaxy 50.
Magneto takes the mutants with him to space.
There is a panel of Kitty, Quicksilver, Beast, Warpath, Juggernaut, Archangel and Strong Guy.
I’m not sure if this group goes or stays as the caption states – Many went willingly, others reluctantly and there were those who remained behind. It could be a mixture, Kitty isn’t seen again.
In space, Magneto kills Apocalypse. The mutants settle on one of the moons of Jupiter, Europa. Wolverine is made king. His descendants are the future rulers. The current one is Queen Rancor, who at 16, tore out her father’s heart.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Annual 4, we learn what the fate of Spider-Man. One imagines that Spider-Man 2099 would play a part but I believe that is printed after this.
There is an ad for Daredevil, that I wished gave the issue number so I knew what they were secretly promoting. All it states is – if you are not reading Daredevil, you are in the dark.
There is a gatefold back cover. Inside of it is the hot books of June – Punisher Meets Archie, Blaze 1, Alice Cooper : Last Temptation, Break the Chain and Marvels 0. I can only say Punisher and Marvels are great. I wonder if Walt Flanagan knows about the Alice Cooper comic. He must.
The actual back cover ad is for the game, Maximum Carnage. I’ve never played it. I have played Symbiotic Anxiety – which was okay. I really wanted to play Maximum Carnage as I love that crossover. The game is for Super Nintendo and Genesis.
I can only imagine that I won’t be watching Guardians of the Galaxy until I own the BluRay, but if you do get to watch it – I hope you can enjoy it.
Come back tomorrow as we start . . . Frank Miller Month! Which is in honor of Sin City 2 coming to theaters. Another movie, I won’t be seeing anytime soon.
. . .
I wasn’t going to do a Big Brother post but after a bit of backlash, here are some thoughts on Thursday’s episode.
Big Brother 16 : Thursday – July 31, 2014
Julie is wearing a nice simple red dress. Her dialogue was typical but not too clever, so the writers are in her sweet spot.
Team America task was for week? Trying to get as many in before they stop it?
But First!
Caleb’s sock monkey is the best part of him.
Nicole has a blue bikini!
I am much more a fan of straight hair than curly.
If Amber leaves, what happens to Caleb? Who does he obsess over?
Caleb looks odd with nothing on his head.
Mutant Ninja Turtle Teenagers, that is a good line
Glad Derrick got some condolences from Julie.
Don’t ask Zach about his antics, that is what he wants.
Team America Task – Vote against the house and blame others for the odd votes, before the HoH competition.
Donny is right not to do it. Though it is super easy to do, just say Caleb and one other person and your done.
Speeches :
Amber did shout outs and was only a pleasant speech. Not convincing at all.
Jocasta did God and family shout outs. Also, another pleasant speech. Where is the pleads and desperation?
I guess when it is known who is going home, why go out of their way.
Votes :
Hayden – Amber
Victoria – Amber
Donny – Amber (Team America Task is a failure)
Derrick – Amber
Zach – Amber
So she is gone.
Vote was 9 – 0
Still are having total house votes
Decent interview between Amber and Julie. No new information though
Even in her exit interview, she can’t escape Caleb!
Still going with the two HoH.
Classic Big Brother Quiz Show
Out on second round – Jocasta
Out on sixth – Victoria, Christine and Derrick
Eleventh – Cody
Five way tie!
Best one of these ever!
Julie has to say – reset please – so much.
Next week is double eviction! Such a great episode when that happens.
For those who don’t want to wait until Sunday, the two HoH are :
Thanks to the excellent Big Brother because you are addicted blog
http://big-brother-16-blog.blogspot.com/
we know that the two HoH are
Last chance not to be spoiled
. . .
Nicole and Donny!
Which is pretty great as Donny just cost Frankie and Derrick five thousand dollars each, so he needed some safety. Unless he loses at the Battle of the Block competition.
Are they going to squeeze that in for double eviction or use the double to bring the duo HoH concept to an end?
Looking at the two halves, looks like I wasn’t quick with my Big Brother thoughts.
Random Thoughts!
Who won PoV? Who came off the block? Who went up?
Get excited!
Preshower chats must be awkward.
Jocasta’s diary sessions are all over the place.
The Bros – Frankie, Zach, Cody and Hayden
Production hasn’t made a big deal about their laziness of the Have Nots.
I like Nicole without her glasses but I also miss them.
Frankie has Zach on chill pills but Zach is still the best chance Team America has.
Nicole just did a sexy strip tease!
Hayden chose the weirdest way to speak to Victoria across the yard from Nicole and Amber.
Poor Nicole, don’t be jealous of Victoria.
Footage of Derrick learning of his grandfather’s death. I feel so horrible for him.
I like pepe as a name for a grandfather.
Caleb thinks they had a good date. So funny
38 days to get over Amber, that seems to long Caleb
Zakie is nicer to write than Zrankie
Big Brother should cast four homosexuals, that would be awesome!
PoV Players :
Frankie – Donny
Victoria – Hayden (her choice)
Jocasta – Christine
The face Nicole made at Victoria’s choice of Hayden.
Frankie sounded like Wil from BB15 for a moment there.
Amber wants no more shady business, so funny.
PoV!
Amber is the host.
Why is there so much Caleb, this episode?
I’ve been missing Donny.
I’m not a fan of these types of competitions. Not great television
Victoria did look nice in that cowgirl outfit.
Hayden is not your cowboy, Victoria!
Hayden wins!
If I never hear, Beast Mode Cowboy, that would be awesome
Zach takes pride in the oddest things
Caleb is so easily manipulated.
Next Team America Task – either vote against the house and blame others or become HoHs. The second one sees easier.
Donny probably is just happy to not be on the block.
PoV Ceremony :
Bowtie with a low cut shirt, not a look I can get behind.
Poor speeches. Victoria’s speech was at least about Hayden, so it makes sense he use it on her.
The look from Nicole was pretty priceless. Is there something going on between Hayden and Victoria? I doubt it
Amber is the replacement nominee.
Zach got up! He is standing up for his boy, Caleb. Once again, more silence. Team America fails.
Jocasta or Amber, will be going home tonight. The plan is for Amber and I am fine with that.
. . .
I couldn’t find a picture of Nicole in the wedding dress. It is official, no one is screen capping the CBS edited episodes. Which must be a copyright issue, but that is only my theory. Somehow, the live feeds must be a different matter.
Even CBS hasn’t updated their photo section to include Sunday’s episode.
