Hastings is offering both the Skottie Young Baby Variants and the Action Figure Variants, so I’m hoping to get as many of these as possible.
Thanks to 20th Century Fox for hosting the video!
I’m super late on this but I figured better late than never.
This trailer actually looks pretty good, and I think Singer has a good grasp on Apocalypse.
Is it me or does Sophie Turner not look great as Jean Grey? I’m sure I’ll come around but those opening shots are not flattering to her.
Always great to see X-Men in live action.
So glad to see Rose Byrne back.
I didn’t recognize Lucas Till as Havok, for the longest time. I had to look at the cast list to figure it out. Its all that long hair he has! I can’t wait for the scene with him and Tye Sheridan, as Cyclops. I wonder if the two will have a quick fight or not.
Makes perfect sense that they would have Jennifer Lawrence not be Blue Mystique, as much as possible – with her Oscar and her hating the make up process. Perfectly understandable.
So thrilled to see Nightcrawler and Jubilee, again!
I really do need to see more Michael Fassbender films.
Alexandra Shipp, on the other had, looks incredible as 80s Mohawk Storm!
Strong hints that Storm, Magneto, Psylocke and a fourth person – are the Horsemen.
I wonder if we’ll get a bunch more Quicksilver in this? I know people loved his scenes from Days of Future Past.
Am I the only one who wasn’t expecting Archangel in this? All we are missing is Iceman and we can have the Original Five in a movie! I’m hoping they can sneak in him in there, but he’ll just be a baby but I want it so much!
I know people are not liking how Apocalypse is looking but he looks good to me, in those brief shots. That voice is dead on, though.
I’ll never stop being taken back by images of the Twin Towers still standing.
How great is that final shot sequence?
Pretty flipping great!
Thanks to Tumblr user, youncehaunted, for the two images!
Surprised they only went with showing us Olivia Munn’s beautiful face but they could have given us some extended scenes with her in the classic Psylocke ninja costume –
There is a special place in heaven for Louise Mingenbach, the costume designer for making the above possible!

Thus far, this is my favorite series under the Secret Wars 2015 umbrella.
Instead of being a series that takes place after the original storyline, this series takes place years prior to the original story. All of this is based off of few captions from Uncanny X-Men 141 –
So any new characters that we are taken with, we know their eventful state. So there is an element of heartbreak with this title. This is one of the more bleak series, I would add Inferno to that list.
Thanks to Marguerite Bennett’s X-Position at Comic Book Resources –
We know this character isn’t Kitty Pryde, but her daughter – Christina Pryde! So much of these first few pages are reminiscent of Uncanny X-Men 141.
New York City. Christina is thinking back to how the world use to be, I imagine she doesn’t have any first hand memory of it. Everything was fine until mutants showed up, then humans decided to blow up the world. Which is never a good idea. Christina, like her mother, is an optimist.
Somehow, she is attacked by a tiger! Good thing Wolverine is there to save her. Good job of Bennett to not have it be three tigers to match the number of rogues.
Wolverine isn’t sure why no one has eaten the tigers, with food being so scarce. He makes a reference to barbecue sauce but she doesn’t know what that is. She is looking for medicine and the tiger is there as all three are in the Bronx Zoo.
Wolverine calls her, Chrissie, but she wants to be called, Christina – so that’s what I’m going with. Wolverine remembers changing her diapers so he gets to call her anything that he wants. With her being (maybe) 18 – I bet she is 14 to match her mother’s first appearance – that makes sense.
Christina asks about Cameron, the son of Wolverine – but he got tangled up. Logan has a nose for trouble but Cameron only has a taste for it.
Christina shows Logan that she is the nice blend of her parents, through her words. Logan teases her and she calls him, a jerk, classic Pryde!
Christina asks Logan for his honest opinion, if he truly believes the flatscans will reverse the Mutant Control Act. He hints at how many mutants were killed in the first wave and now the rest are in internment camps. Logan tells Christina that she was the last mutant born. Mutants are sterilized now.
Christina leaves Logan’s side and tries to get back to her parents. She sees a few rogues, militia and more tigers.
A sentinel finds her but its mode of community seems pretty casual.
There is a SuperHeroStuff.com ad for a hero box that offers $70 worth of product for only $49, which sounds awesome. We tried, for Walker Dennis, a similar program called – Citrus Lane, which is a more affordable $30 but the items are not as awesome as superhero related merchandise.
The Sentinel is about to open palm blast when Kate Pryde jumps in front of Christina. The Sentinel calls Kate Pryde, Mutant 187 and she was instrumental to capturing mutants 234 & 339, ten years ago. I imagine the identities of these mutants will be important, later.
Christina wants to know if there is any news on Storm, but there are no new graves. Sentinels give everyone numbers but once the mutant dies, they get to have their mutant names placed on their tombstone.
What the Prydes were looking for are chemicals to dissolve the suppression collars.
Colossus reveals that it has been 15 years since they have been in this camp. Magneto promised Christina that he would make her a metal pony that gallops.
Meanwhile, aboard Air Force Once. President Robert Kelly wants to scare his fellow flatsfcans into not revolting the act. Kelly orders two folks, Martinez & Foster, to get some footage to remind idiots why they want to hate mutants.
South Bronx Mutant Internment Center. Kate and Rachel are having a chat. Kate references Xavier giving her a chemical set when she was fourteen. Rachel says, Doom rest his soul, which I do like how the books all respect that Doom is the god of Battleworld. They repeat that Christina was the last mutant birth before music was banned, the famine and the sterilizations.
Rachel goes around melting the collars.
The X-Men get out and Sentinels are quick to try to shut them down. Did they keep their uniforms?
The X-Men make short work of a Sentinel. In its final moment, it eye beams Christina.
This event is enough to trigger Christina’s mutant gene. She takes after he father though she reminds me more of Plantium of DC’s Metal Men.
Her parents thought that the collars would have made it impossible for Christina’s mutation to kick in but life always finds a way.
Later. New Kent Military Base. We see Iron Man on a pole, run through the middle. The two government aides wake Mystique and Blob, the two mutants Kate Pryde turned in. These two villains have been asleep for the past 15 years.
The X-Men are not leading to other mutants, to free them – they are heading towards a virus that can affect Sentinels.
We learn this region’s in-universe title is – United Doomstates Government.
Christina is the best choice to make this new plan work. Kate is not happy that her daughter is being burden with the task. Just like in the original story, a young Pryde is being tasked with the bulk of the mission. They want a photo op of Christina saving President Kelly. Christina is up for the task.
Rachel senses that Storm is alive, she tells Christina to head towards the Baxter Building, where Kelly will be. They have to find Wolverine.
A building is about to collapse and the X-Men start saving the humans who are now in danger. Mystique and Blob show up and accuse Kate of betraying her own kind. She doesn’t know what they are talking about, so maybe those two are not the ones that she turned in.
The government aides are filming the mutant on mutant battle.
Just then, Logan and Cameron arrive.
Wolverine starts fighting Mystique. Blob knocks out Christina and Cameron phases through Blob and rips him apart, so who is his mother? Once he comes out of Blob, he is covered in green, making me think he also resembled a Metal Man.
Christina can’t believe that Cameron just straight up killed Blob. I have no guesses on who Cameron’s mother is.
Issue ends with the new Green (Doom inspired?) Sentinels on their way.
Such a great first issue! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

So now you know what I know about the original crossover. Oh, and that final storyline of X-Men Forever 2 with Ro and Ultimate Storm that dealt with Storm’s portion of the crossover.
So let’s enjoy this for what it is.
So this is another one of those “years later” miniseries, along with Inferno. The Legacy Virus is just now effecting Genosha.
Genosha, then. Cyclops and Havok are knocking Cameron Hodge out of action. Wolfsbane tears off his head, finishing the threat. The various X-Teams leave the island but Havok and Wolfsbane (and a few others) stay behind as those two want to make sure what happened in Genosha, never happens again.
Genosha, Now. Havok and Wolfsbane have a team. Those two and Chief Magistrate Anderson. They are on day three of trying to break up a food riot. Helping them are – Simon Locke “Bulletproof” power is being bulletproof. Julio Esteban Richtor “Rector.” Xi’an Coy Manh “Karma.” And possible new mutant, Wicked, Ghost Summoner – who is freaking people out with ghosts of their past.
Xavier arrives and everyone is still in awe of him. The riot disperses and there is a calm. Xavier is really, Mystique, of course – as Xavier is dead. Dr. Alous Kluge is still the Genegineer. Wolfsbane wants to go to God Doom and get his permission to fix the Legacy Virus.
Doomstadt. Doom turns down the offer of aid. Strange casts the, Winds of Watoomb, and forces Wolfsbane back. Doom tells Strange that mutants are the blight upon the world. Which is odd that he even put them on Battleworld.
Wolfsbane is not happen and asks Rachel Grey for help as she is the Baron of this region of the planet. Wolfsbane wants Triage and Rogue to be sent to Genosha. With Rogue’s power, they can heal twice as many people. Rachel doesn’t want to infect any more mutants, than necessary. Which seems overly harsh but it falls under the whole, let a thousand die to let millions live.
X-Topia Province. X-City, Home of the X-Men. Beast is convincing Rachel that the number game is the correct way to view this. They walk by the graveyard that reminds me of the graveyard from Days of Future Past.
I don’t get how all of these X-Men died. Like, how does Spider-Crawler work? Was it more than three to five years? I don’t see how Nightcrawler and Spider-Man both had kids and then they had a kid.
Genosha. Havok and Wolfsbane are clearing having sex, so that’s a plus for Wolfsbane. They come up with a plan that they are going to go grab Triage and Rogue. Cyclops, who is dead, appears before Havok, as Wicked doesn’t quite have her power under control. Ghost Cyclops asks Havok to not to abduct X-Men, as that didn’t work out so well in the original crossover. Havok doesn’t listen and goes on with the mission, but with some regrets.
On the way there, we get a light scene with Havok checking in on Rictor (who isn’t gay yet) as there is a chance he can run into Boom Boom.
X-City. X-Pickup Baseball, Game No. 1,065. We get to the page that got me to buy this issue. Rogue is trying to strike out Kitty, who Wolverine claims is an easy out. Lockheed is floating behind Kitty, and that is awesome!
So the Genoshians show up and ruin the game. Big fights break out.
Rockslide points out how silly this is, as five against a hundred mutants, are not great odds for the invaders. The big fight is merely a distraction.
Anderson calls the Genegineer. who is a little preoccupied as he is trying to bring Cameron Hodge back to life.
I’m not sure if I’m getting the next issue but the first issue was pretty interesting.

Only two of mine made the list, but that makes sense. I haven’t really read much of Deadpool’s ongoings. I should have just voted for all of Joe Kelly’s run as it makes sense those issues would make the list. Feel bad none of Christopher Priest’s run made it, as that was great too.

I had to add the Ramos variant to my Wishlist.
I really really adore this comic! That Skottie Young knows how to make a great comic!
The issue opens with a wonderful theme song, that I hope someone is making.
The first real segment of the issue is the terrific Magik v Iron Man four page sequence.
Iron Man tries, mistakenly so, blow Magik off. He destroyed a beloved action figure of his. She calls him on his nonsense. Cap takes her side, as he should!
Skottie Young really gets that Magik is unstoppable, and really only allows the X-Men to take advantage of her assets. She has summoned a demon from Limbo and is taking care of the Avengers.
The only Avengers missing from this page, that are also in Avengers : Age of Ultron, are Vision and Quicksilver. At first, I thought only Quicksilver was missing but that makes sense that these Avengers would be the ideal team for Young to use.
Whereas, he seems to have full range of X-Men to use, which I am all for.
Iron Man keeps losing points with her, calling her beloved toy pony, a doll. She corrects him, it is an action figure.
I do like how their fight ends, only because it is dinner time. It is Tuesday, so it is pizza night and the pizza is coming from Da Vinci’s. They have good sausage there.
Magik thanks Bob, the demon, for the assist.
Hawkeye comments on how Magik’s house is on fire.
The rest of the issue is a case for escalation. Blob and Toad are trying to get some lunch and the X-Men and Avengers keep trying to offer better food.
Cyclops has Storm rain out Iron Man’s food truck.
Cyclops has his hot dogs at the ready. People are ordering from Cyclops. There is a great gag (that always makes me laugh) with Daredevil ordering nowhere near where he should be. I know Chris Giarrusso often used it, I’m not sure if Hembeck ever did it,
Cyclops really likes his eye related puns, no one else in the comic likes them but I’m all for them.
All of this one-upmanship escalates to a big fight. We get some fun match ups.
Cyclops v Captain America, of course. Wanda is fighting Rogue, who is unimpressed. Iceman v Hulk. Colossus v Thor, which is pretty one sided. Storm v Hawkeye & Black Widow, also one sided. Iron Man v Wolverine.
We also get Archangel v Falcon.
Captain Marvel and Namor are concern about Cable and Bishop, both from the future, using giant guns.
The issue ends with everyone going home, but before they do, they meet a pair of twins, who I don’t recognize. They will most likely the series villains.
Odd that both Cyclops and Cap think twins are cool. What are they basing that off of? Wanda and Pietro? Northstar and Aurora? The Stryker twins? They really are not.
Here is hoping Magik keeps appearing in this series!

Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 34,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 13 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Final Issue!
New York City. The Law Offices of Paine & Luckberg, LLP. Two Days Ago. Mystique dropped off a box years ago to be delivered on a certain date. I like how Mystique wrote her real name and her codename in quotes.
The Flordia Everglades. Near Citrusville. Now. Mystique is surprised by the appearance of Man-Thing, which seems odd as it isn’t like he isn’t an unknown character. Man-Thing rocks! Even Portal knows who Man-Thing is.
Elsewhere in the Swamp. Shogun explains that Sinister made it so that Ogun is locked away somewhere inside Sharp’s head.
Siphon is also in the room and starts attacking those with a healing factor – Sabretooth, X23 and Deathstrike.
Man-Thing is burning Mystique, as she isn’t afraid of him, she’s afraid of losing this opportunity to bring Destiny back to life. She starts talking about her love for Destiny and he releases her.
Siphon starts draining X23’s healing factor but she cuts him deeply. He drops them both and goes after Lady Deathstrike. Shogun steps in and starts really letting into him – cutting even deeper. Daken shouts that now Siphon will come at Lady Deathstrike even harsher. Daken tries to imply that Lady Deathstrike is incapable of love.
Lady Deathstrike jumps into the fight so that Shogun isn’t on his own. Shogun is taken down, pretty easily.
Shogun drains Lady Deathstrike’s healing factor, he comes to his senses. Just then, Portal appears and takes Siphon with him. Portal is impress that Mystique fought off Man-Thing. He wants her to give him the Zhulong, a Chinese artifact. Portal shoots the magical harpoon at Siphon, to steal Siphon’s excess energy. Portal teleports Shiphon away.
Mystique wants Portal to teleport her to a spot in the multiverse.
Back with the Wolverines, X23 is without her healing factor for the first time. She wonders when the pain stops, and Daken tells her that it doesn’t. Sabretooth wants to go after Siphon, and he teleports right in front of them. They know that Siphon has been drained again and by that, they know that Mystique must be near by. Daken wants to use Siphon as a bloodhound to track Mystique.
Portal opens a . . . portal to where Mystique wants to go. Once she gets there, she can break a crystal to close it.
Mystique is about to step through the portal when the Wolverines arrive. She tells them that they don’t need them anymore and that they can leave. Lady Deathstrike rips off Siphon’s head. She says something completely dumb – even without their healing factors, they can still kill. Like, of course they can – why wouldn’t they be able to?
Mystique throws a smoke bomb and no one can sniff her out. Mystique as Daken stabs X23 to her gut.
X23 stabs Sabretooth. Sabretooth slashes Daken. Lady Deathstrike and Shogun face off.
Mystique walks through the portal, the delivery gal gives her the box and takes off. She opens the box and there is a letter from Destiny. She lied to Mystique. Mystique was never meant to bring back Destiny from the dead. Destiny knew that, once Wolverine died, everybody would die so she created this situation that should keep Mystique alive.
Destiny wants Mystique to bring Logan back to life. Mystique rather let the world burn and breaks the crystal, closing that door. Which is pretty bad arse. It does feel super cheap that this has been twenty issues of no payoff but we got some excellent Ogun moments but was it worth it? Time will tell but I imagine come a year from now, no one would be discussing this series.
Marvel, I have to give them credit, got nineteen issues of a weekly series out on time. This issue was delayed a week but people credit that to having been delayed for Secret War 2015 but I’m not sure why this issue didn’t come out prior to issue one of that series, that would have made more sense.
Decent series, I wouldn’t recommend buying any of the trades – or if you do, only the Sinister trades – so the first and last ones.
