I got my seventh voicemail played on the show!  My question is form 14:55 – 16:12 and the discussion follows until 18:36.  I, essentially, did what Brian said to do.  I have the two issues – Contest of Champions 1 and All New All Different Marvel Point 1 – pulled for me so if they ever name check Magik, I can go back and get those issues, relatively easy.

Uncanny X-Men Volume Three Issue 33

Uncanny X-Men V3 33

Writer Brian Michael Bendis

Art Kris Anka

Color Art Antonio Fabela

Lettering & Production VC’s Joe Caramagna

I know I jokingly keep track of the Top Ten Best Comics of 2015, but only until I’ve read eleven comics for the year (we all enjoy it – I hope) but this issue, right here – is by far my favorite issue of the year.  I can’t imagine too many will surpass it.  Well, if we get another comic that has Kitty and Illyana, on every single page, but with Lockheed – even if he is on the one page – that comic, would surpass this one.  I can’t recommend this issue enough!  Go seek it out!

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 1

This issue takes place moments after the last issue’s flashback sequence.  Scott told the team that he is dissolving the school and Magik grabbed Kitty and off they went.  Kitty, against her will.

Kitty grabs Illyana’s . . .. shirt?  top?  Yeah, top, and Illyana states, simply, “touching” and that signals to Kitty to let go.

I like Kitty asking Illyana “what is wrong with you?”and without missing a beat, she states that she “was raised in a hellish dimension by a demon.”  She was in Limbo for seven years, that isn’t something that one gets over, if ever.

Kitty wants to know where she is, she guesses the Savage Land.  Though, I’m not aware of any bad times Kitty has had in the Savage Land.  She was there in Uncanny Annual 7, but she had a decent time there.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 2a Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 2b

Magik and Shadowcat are at . . . Monster Island!  That is way cool!  So, we now know that this isn’t the hinted at, Demon Hunters storyline, teased in All New X-Men 25 – like I thought it was going to be.  This is still great but these two characters (with Lockheed) need a buddy book!  I could make it last 50 issues, just give me a chance!  I just need a decent short story concept that I can write, to give me some of that sweet credibility.

Uncanny X-Men 33 Shadowcat Magik 3

Illyana starts fighting the monsters, while Kitty isn’t engaging.  They are simple creatures, giant creatures but they are reacting to Illyana’s aggressive actions.  I do enjoy seeing Magik hold her own against creatures.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 4

Kitty guesses that the reason why they are there is either there is an In-N-Out Burger or a record store.  I like Kitty still holding onto vinyl.  Also, I miss In-N-Out Burger, I didn’t appreciate them while I was in Yuma but they are a higher quality cheese burger.  I had to finally stop getting animal style as I enjoyed the burgers more.

Illyana finally gets around to the real reason, there is a mutant for them to engage with.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 5

Illyana is trying to get the monsters respect, until the thunder happens.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 6

The thunder chases the monsters away, so Kitty was right – as usual.  Illyana wants Kitty to follow her, Kitty states that she doesn’t like her anymore and Illyana states that she is lying.  I miss these two so much!

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 7

Illyana shows off her portal Cerebro.

We get them finally talking about the tension in their friendship.  Kitty says that Illyana didn’t have to bring her all the way out here to kill her.  Illyana states that she could kill Kitty anywhere, super scary!  Kitty tells Illyana that it is only funny when Kitty jokes about how crazy and mysterious Illyana is.

Illyana, in a real moment, tells Kitty that it isn’t funny when Kitty makes those jokes, it actually hurts Illyan’s feelings.

That last panel is such a real moment, with Kitty reflecting on all the times that she has made such jokes and the regret that now exists.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 8

Illyana reveals that, whenever there is in-fighting with the X-Men, she leaves to go find a new mutant.  I want an ongoing of this, so much!  She doesn’t even need a special school.  Just saving new mutants, being a positive influence and moving on.  Kitty jokes that this has to be a full time job for Illyana, as that is all the X-Men do, these days.

Kitty is all about that mission and would have loved to be invited for those missions.  They finally get to the cave where the new mutant is hiding.

There is an ad for A-Force, that I’m hoping that Shadowcat gets some play in, if not her, then Magik has to be involved!  I suspect that Rogue is the mutant representative, though at this point, she is more an Avenger.  This is part of a pull out ad.  Of those advertised, I am getting Secret Wars 2015, Ultimate End, Master of Kung-Fu and Inferno.  Maybes are only – Battleword and Journal with Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 9

A voice tells them not to approach.  Kitty tries to get the person to reveal themselves.  Who is comforted with being told that the X-Men are outside of the cave that you are hiding in?

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 10

We meet sweet little, Bo.  Bo speaks broken English but like Kitty says, she is pretty good with the language.  Bo likes that Shadowcat’s name is “Kitty cat” it is a pleasant name.  Bo is very hungry.  Kitty offers to take Bo to food and safety.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 11

I’m not sure why Illyana opts for her hero name but Bo likes it.  Magic and Kitty cat, not a great name for a title but I do enjoy it.

Kitty keeps asking about how many days she has been out here.  Magik rephases it “how many sleeps” and this question, has stuck with me and I have kept working it into conversations, as there is something about it that I can’t shake.

This is heart breaking, Bo ha been out there for seven nights.  Worst, her father abandoned her out there.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 12

Poor poor Bo, and I’m sure it is because I have a sixteen month old that makes me so sensitive to this but poor Bo woke up here.  She knows it was her father’s doing.  Bo starts crying and I want to find her father and punch him to his dumb face.  In a story that we will never get and I’m not sure is actually necessary, Bo hurt her mother.  Hopefully she isn’t dead, but she must be as no matter the injury, I would like to think a mother wouldn’t allow her husband to abandon their daughter on an island full of monsters – where she will mostly die.  That is what is happening here, she is not meant to survive this experience.  She didn’t have a week’s worth of food.

A monster, that I imagine has been protecting Bo (or treating her as a pet), wakes up.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 13

Bo’s powers kick in, harshly.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 14

Kitty wakes up, first.  Bo has been watching the sunset.  Bo is still freaking out.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat 1

Kitty tries to assure Bo that everything is okay, no one is hurt.  Kitty offers to take Bo to the Jean Grey School, as she has powers that make her special.  Bo asks if she is like the Mighty Thor – which is awesome.   Kitty is amused, as well.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 15

Monsters start coming at them, and Magik teleports them away.  How sad is it that Bo finally realizes that her father left her to die?  So horrible!

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 16

I sort of adore how much this is common for Storm and Nightcrawler.  Storm is so used to walking the grounds and seeing sudden teleportations.

Bo’s strings can hurt Kitty, while she is in her phased state.  Bo’s powers may be that she can paralyze folks.  Kurt greets Bo, all smiles but Bo is a tad terrified.

Is that second to last panel, the best Storm panel in ten years?  Such a fun exchange.  Bo finds Storm to be so beautiful and now she is Storm’s favorite student.

Uncanny X-Men V3 33 Shadowcat Magik 17

Bo coming back for that last hug?  So fantastic!  I love this issue so much!

Magik attempts to say the famous “Welcome to the X-Men, I hope you survive the experience” but she doesn’t want to scare Bo.

Those last three panels, I love them so much!  Illyana misses their friendship, Kitty tells her she doesn’t and that Illyana is a goofball.  Illyana is also missing her brother, so she must still be recovering from her injuries.

Kitty wants to help Illyana reconnect with Colossus, so now we know what some pages of Uncanny X-Men’s 600’s forty pages are going to be made up of.  Let’s hope that they get at least ten pages!

Wolverine Volume Three Issue 8

Wolverine V3 8

Writer Jason Aaron

Artist Daniel Acuna

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Cover Dated June 2011

Wolverine vs the X-Men, Part Three of Three

We kick Jessica Jones Month off with this issue!

Angel Island, San Francisco.  Doctor Nemesis and Fantomex arrive on the island and see that Storm has Hellverine up in the air.  Doctor Nemesis fires a bullet at Hellverine.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 1

The bullet had the bubonic plague with a side of mouth cancer.  The goal is to overwhelm the healing factor, to make him completely vulnerable.  Storm is not pleased that the guys are here with full intentions to kill Wolverine’s body.  I wonder if these two guys talked about this adventure while they were on X-Force together?  Probably not.

Storm reveals that the lady X-Men are inside of his head, and Doctor Nemesis wants them out, immediately.

In the mindscape, Wolverine isn’t happy that the ladies are there as the stakes are too high for them.  Melita, his girlfriend at the time, slices a demon in a half.  This turns Logan on and they kiss.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 2

Jubilee wants less kissing and more fighting.  Kitty isn’t happy about the collateral damage the demons are doing to the surroundings.  Which is smart, of the demons, Logan isn’t the target, his walls are as that is where his emotions and traits are located.

Wolverine V3 8 Jessica Jones as Jewel

The ladies get separated and the best two pages of the issue occur.  I wish these type of scenes were mandatory whenever characters visit one character’s mind, they should be able to open a few doors and we get to learn more about that character.

Emma finds a door titled, Sexual Fantasies.  We see – Mystique, Emma Frost, Squirrel Girl, Spiral and Jewel.  Jewel, of course, was Jessica Jones’ superhero identity – and this is her sole appearance in the issue.  Squirrel Girl is also an interesting choice.

Emma wants to immediately start killing demons or have them kill her, so that she can forget about what she has seen.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 3

Melita finds a room titled, Hopes and Dreams – it is nice that they are so handily labelled.  Of course, Logan dreams of Jean.  That is not the room his girlfriend should be looking into.

Shadowcat comes across two rooms, Reasons to Hate Myself / Secrets of Weapon X.  Which I’m sure there are some crossover items in those two rooms.  A fun thing, with Kitty’s panel, is the words “Doctor Rot Was Here” and he will be in the upcoming “Rot” storyline of this title that I own three of the four issues (305, 306 and 308) which is still a year away, that’s some great plotting there!

Jubilee sees, X-Men I’ve Had Sex With, which is a pretty handy room to have!  Jubilee comments that the Danger Room was not meant to be used in such a way.

Rogue gets the best room to visit, How I Cheat At Cards.  She always suspected he was cheating.

Wolverine crashed into the floor below and starts fighting a demon.

Fear Itself, Book Two has come out in May 2011.

Logan isn’t doing so well, good thing his buddy, Nightcrawler, also finds himself dead and is able to lend a hand and a tail and swords, even!

Outside.  Hellverine spits hot lava at Storm, knocking her out.  Cyclops has arrived on the island and starts fighting Hellverine.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 4

The ladies are surprised to see Jean Grey, in the White Crown Phoenix costume, arrive.  Emma confirms that this isn’t Jean from Heaven, this is Wolverine’s ideal Jean.  This Jean is capable of shoving the ladies out of Logan’s mind.

Scott makes sure Emma is okay as Fantomex and Doctor Nemesis keeps shooting Hellverine.

Jean tells Logan that he has to let her go.  I’m not exactly sure what that has to do with anything but that’s what she is telling him.

Da Boys are not really holding their own against Hellverine, until he starts vomiting.  It is up to Cyclops to finish this.

Logan is contemplating his next move, as Nightcrawler keeps fighting off demons.  Wolverine sees another door, People I Have To Kill Before I Die, this is all he needs to see so that he can commit to living.

There is a two page house ad for three new number ones.  Moon Knight with Bendis / Maleev, Daredevil with Waid / Rivera / Martin and Punisher with Rucka / Checchetto.  I know Waid’s run is pretty awesome.  Bendis and Maleev had Moon Knight fight Count Nefaria and I’ve heard that Rucka’s Punisher was disappointing.

Cyclops is about to kill Wolverine but he mutters, Jean, and Scott stops himself.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 5

Logan is Wolverine, again.  Kitty couldn’t be happier, look at that smile!

Utopia.  Wolverine is checking on Colossus, who got cut rather deeply.  Cyclops offers Wolverine some beer, which I like how this is the way they put their beefs behind them.

There is an ad for X-Men Giant Size, where the Original Five meet the mutants of Utopia, but this is not referenced in Bendis’ All New X-Men, not is it ever referenced.  They get away with the younger versions with this, as I’m sure they are pulled from after issue eight.  But why the present day folks don’t bring it up?  I’m not sure.

Wolverine V3 8 Shadowcat 6

Wolverine doesn’t want to drink any beer.

The issue ends with Nightcrawler, still in the mindscape, Patch, James Howlett and a Rambo Wolverine are trying to gather the broken pieces.  We see these doors – Mercy / Compassion / Favorite Lines of Poetry / Best Dirty Jokes that are all broken.

We see the Berserker write, REVENGE, onto a wall and Nightcrawler is not thrilled with this turn of events.  The next issue of this series that I own is 16 and then it is 300 and then the Rot storyline.

The back cover is an ad for the video game tie-in for Thor’s first film.  As far as I know, it still holds the record of fastest price drop.  It started at the traditional (but silly) $59.99 and in two weeks, after negative reviews galore, it dropped to $19.99 and it was still not being sold.

Marvel Zombies : Dead Days

Marvel Zombies Dead Days

Writer Robert Kirkman

Artist Sean Phillips

Color Art June Chung

Lettering VC’s Rus Wooton

Zombie Food John Barber

Cover Dated July 2007

Cover (after Jim Lee) by Arthur Suydam, homaging X-MEN Volume One Issue 1

This awesome website has the entire comic, if you want to follow along

http://www.idoc.co/read/2208/marvel-zombies-dead-days/1

This issue works as an origin story to the Marvel Zombies universe.

Inside cover ad are for The New Fantastic Four (not the good one but Storm, Black Panther, Human Torch and Thing) going to the Marvel Zombie-verse in Black Panther 29.

Issue opens with Spider-Man web-slinging his way home.  He enters his apartment and tells Aunt May and Mary Jane that Colonel America bit him.  The news is stating that the Avengers are attacking and worst, eating people.  That should stop supervillains from attacking.

Spider-Man starts drooling through his mask.  He rips the mouth part off and yep, eats Mary Jane.  That isn’t what husbands should do!  Know what nephews shouldn’t do?  Eat their aunts!  Spider-Man doesn’t care, what we think!

High in Earth’s Orbit.  Asteroid M.  Magneto is ashamed of what he did.  Fabian Cortez, his chief Acolyte, is telling him that he did what he had to do.  I guess he was the one that sent the Sentry, who was affected by the Zombie virus, to Earth.  The virus affects both flatscans and mutant.  Magneto sets off to save as many as he can.

New York City.  Nova is rocketing around.  On this Earth, he knows Spider-Man’s secret identity.  Which costs him to fight for his life.  Daredevil tries to save Nova.

Elsewhere.  Colonel America tells the Avengers to stop.  They have been eating and eating.  He notices that the hunger has been slated.  He wants to look for a cure.

There is an ad for the 2007 Jeep Patriot.

Westchester, New York.  The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.  Alpha Flight are Zombies!  They ate Professor Xavier!  Cyclops is trying to keep the X-Men motivated to save themselves.

Marvel Zombies Dead Days Shadowcat 1

Magneto arrives and kills Alpha Flight, so they are dead dead.

Poor Shadowcat, thought it was an isolated incident.  Wolverine wants to kill all of the Zombies.

New York City.  Giant Man and the Black Panther are on the run.  Black Panther wishes he was with his people in Wakanda.  Giant Man can’t get over seeing Colonel America eat a woman.  Black Panther notices that Pym was bit.  Pym was hoping he could have gotten the African King to his lab, before he noticed, so that he could have a meal.  He knocks out Black Panther and continues on his way.  He suspects that all of the ‘food supply’ will run out in a matter of days.

There is an ad for X-MEN 200.

Nova is still flying around.  We see that Spider-Man turned Daredevil.  Now there is a blind lawyer zombie out there in the world.  Sean McKeever’s Gravity is also a zombie!  Nice inclusion, Kirkman!  Or does Phillips comes up with the side characters?

Over in the Baxter Building.  In what could be the saddest sight of the comic, poor poor Reed is holding his dead children in his arms.  He thought they were safe.  That stupid horrible horrible being, She-Hulk ate Franklin and Valeria!  I like She-Hulk, but that is pretty messed up!  Susan is holding Valeria and Reed is holding Franklin.  I feel like crying right now.

Susan, and good for her, creates a force field inside of Jennifer’s head and explodes it, outward.  Johnny is crying, as he should!

Thor kills Zombie Atlas.  Songbird and Meteorite are zombies too, so there goes the Thunderbolts!  Thor kills Meteorite.  Nova is trying to help Thor.  He is almost bit when Human Torch shows up.  The Fantastic Four show up in the Fantasti-Car.  They take the three heroes to a SHIELD Hellicarrier, the last safe place in New York City.  probably

Marvel Zombies Dead Days Shadowcat 2a Marvel Zombies Dead Days Shadowcat 2b

That is a great assortment of heroes.  Not only is Shadowcat among the non-flesh easters, so is the Scarlet Spider!  I love that costume so much!

Nick Fury calls what is happening a plague.  The entire globe is being affected by it.  Fury wants the brains – Reed Richards, Stark and Bruce Banner, to create a cure before their brains are eaten.

Nova loses his mind, a little.  If you are a New York based hero and not on the Hellicarrier, then that person is most likely a zombie or dead, or deader.  He just thinks that it is too late for counter-measures.

There is an ad for Spider-Man 3.

Avengers Mansion.  Manhattan.  Pym shows up, looking for Jarvis but he has served his last task, he’s lunch for the Avengers.  Pym wonders if they should work on a cure.  Hawkeye has eaten 12 people, so he feels like he can’t be redeemed.

Spider-Man eats J. Jonah Jameson.

Fury goes to Doom, he believes Latveria is safe.

Back aboard the SHIELD Hellicarrier.  Reed’s Lab.  The three brains are working separately, so that they could get a solution faster.  Susan is upset, naturally, that Reed is becoming fascinated by the zombies.

There is an ad for X-Men : Endangered Species.  Which we own a few issues of, so I’ll review them eventually.  Comicbookdb.com counts anything under the banner, so I’ve already started reviewing the Quest for Magik from New X-Men and X-Factor 23, also the Blinded by the Light arc of X-MEN.

Elsewhere on the Helicarrier.  Tony’s Lab.  Fury gets an update from Stark.  Stark wants to find an alternate universe and take the survivors there.

On the ground, there is a giant battle.  Nova gets bit by Carol Danvers.  Wolverine is bit by Hawkeye and Captain America.  Magneto is able to fight some as many as he can.

Back on the Hellicarrier.  Reed’s Lab.  Reed tells the Fantastic Four his plans to become Zombies, they are disgusted.  He informs them that, as soon as they came into the lab, that they were infected by the plague.  They are infected and he wants to experience the sensation of becoming a zombie.  They indulge him.

Stark is telling Fury about how they need to move fast.  The Zombie Four comes in and bite Stark.  Fury gets away and hides with an elevator of heroes.  The Four break in and kill Fury but turn the other heroes.

Minutes Later.  Reed wants to take the dimension portal to the Baxter Building so that he can prefect it.  Which leads to the Ultimate Universe and where this franchise officially starts.

Inside back cover ads are for Mystic Arcana, which I own two issues of – one being a Magik proper tie-in which is pretty awesome.  The other is for Ultimate Fantastic Four Volume 3 hardcover, which has the Zombies’ first appearance.

. . .

For Walker Dennis’ second Halloween costume, he is going to be –

Walker Dennis 2nd Halloween Costume 2015 Scarecrow

an adoreable Scarecrow!  We looked around for all types of costumes but there were not that many great ones but he looks pretty cute in it.  If he would just wear the hat / cowl thing.

True Believers : House of M 1

Posted by John Klein III on October 30, 2015

True Believers House of M 1

Reprints House of M 1, naturally

I reviewed the issue here :

House of M 1

I mostly wanted to discuss the True Believers program.  I like the idea of reprinting the first issues of remembered series that are going to be revisited during Secret Wars 2015.  Speaking of which, main event artist, Esad Ribic did the cover above.

These were only a dollar, so I ordered most of them that Kitty had some role to play.  She only had an actual role to play in this issue.  Age of Apocalypse Shadowcat is mentioned in X-Men Alpha, that was reprinted as True Believers : Age of Apocalypse, but they only reprinted the first half of that issue.  Which makes sense, as Marvel wouldn’t reprint a twenty year old comic, fully, that was originally printed as a 48 page comic.  Having half the story should make people at least seek out that one issue.

Unfortunately, that meant I wasn’t keeping two of these issues.  Over at Lonestar Comics, you can sell back these for twenty cents (cash) or forty cents (store credit) so I’ve already added them to my Sell List.

Kelly’s Komix, in Great Falls, was selling X-Men Alpha for ten dollars, which isn’t too bad but I was trying to get the most I could under twenty so I went five four dollar comics instead of three comics for eighteen.  One day, I will own X-Men Alpha, then my collection of AoA Shadowcat appearances will be complete.

I also thought, besides reprinting the first issues, that there would be bonus features, like interviews from creators or possibly, preview pages of the upcoming Secret Wars 2015 revisits to these timelines, but there is none of that.  Which I think is a real missed opportunity.

But, again, for only a dollar, it isn’t to bad.  They all end with “buy the trade, that is now available” so that’s pretty nice that some of these are being placed back into circulation.

Tim Curry – Worst Witch – Halloween Song

Every year, I get this need to listen to this song but I get around to it, maybe every three years or so.

Thanks to Youtuber harrypottersdaddy for hosting the video.

The visuals for this song are completely bonkers.

Worst Witch came out in 1986, but I must have watched it when it aired on television or something.

Thanks to Jen Wolford for hosting this video.  The film is barely an hour and ten minutes.

Wolverines 15

Wolverines 15

Writer Ray Fawkes

Art Juan Doe

Letterer VC’s Cory Petit

Death Valley.  Siphon has X23 by the throat.  Daken, who Doe tries his best to model-fix Daken from Larroca’s attempt.  The mutton chops are still there but now Daken’s full head of hair is a narly Mohawk type of cartoon samurai sort of thing.

Daken wants Siphon to turn his attention back onto him.  It wasn’t Siphon that got X23 involved, she wanted the fight to end and now Siphon will attempt to end her.  I really like how bored with all of this, Blade is.  Blade does like X23’s style, but that is it.  Siphon keeps taking hits, making him dumber and Daken keeps getting bones broken.

Wolverines 15 Shogun 1

36,000 Feet Above.  Another great plot in this issue?  Shogun just plain being done with Mystique and her silly secretive plans.  Mystique keeps playing dumb, which is the wrong move.  She should just reveal the next step in her plan and gain a little credibility.

Wolverines 15 Shogun 2

Mystique does hint what the plan is, that it is risky but it will solve all sorts of problems.

Siphon knocks Blade outside, which causes Blade to drop his s-word.  Siphon tries to pick up the sword but loses all of his fingers on his left hand.  That Blade, he really likes to keep his swords.  X23 starts taking petty on Siphon, as his brain has been reduced to only being able to make grunts.  Daken has the chance to kill Siphon but chooses not to, Blade takes his sword back.

The Changling arrives to pick everyone, but Blade, up.

Wolverines 15 Shogun 3

Daken gets on the plane and wants to know how they knew where they were.  They had jumped out of the plane and then stole a semitruck, and got to their final destination.

Shogun tries to explain that it is the tracking devices that they have that lead them there.  Daken knows that Mystique had a hand in it.  Shogun is excited about Siphon being on board, they could learn more about healing factors.

Wolverines 15 Shogun 4

I like how Sabretooth is under the impression that Junk is the resident tech guy, but all Junk knows how to do is press the computer buttons.

Daken suspects they are all lying to him.

Two Hours Later.  Daken comes into X23’s room.  X23 instantly recognizes Daken as Mystique, she feints shock but doesn’t change shape.  X23 states that Mystique is clearly close to her timetable but threatens to ruin it by leaving.  Once X23 leaves the room, Mystique shifts back to her proper form.

I do like how X23 tells Mystique that she will never tell how she knew it was Mystique the hold time.  I wonder if she has known for a while, as in the first few issues, Mystique posed as Daken.  I believe she didn’t do it to X23, so that’s why she is probably confident in her Daken impression.

Next issue promises to have Mister Sinister back!  Probably find out if Endo actually died, in an earlier issue.

Amazing X-Men 19

Writer Christopher Yost

Artist Jorge Fornes

Colorist Rachelle Rosenberg

Letterer VC’s Joe Caramagna

One and Future Juggernaut, Epilogue

So the answer to my question, how you name a fifth part of a four part storyline is to title it, Epilogue.  I guess I would have still numbered them, 1 of 5, though.

Amazing X-Men 19 Magik

Since this is the final chapter, I sort of like how we get a revisit to the characters’ early days.

That isn’t the most girlish panel of Illyana that I have ever seen but that has to be her, right?  That is clearly a tractor behind Colossus.  If not, I didn’t need to buy this issue.

I like how Fornes keeps the same pattern.  Top Left – Cyttorak, Top Right – Cain Marko; Bottom Left – Colossus; Bottom Right – Charles Xavier. The placement makes sense, as Cyttorak’s story leads to Cain, I suppose it would make more sense to switch Xavier and Colossus, as Marko leads to Xavier easier and Xavier transitions to Colossus, easily as well.  Though I do like how the corners work together.  Cyttorak and Xavier have been both destructive, through their avatars or students.  Marko and Colossus just been the front line.

It is a nice four page sequence.

Southeast Asia.  Now.  Colossus is trying to hold off Juggernaut.  Cyttorak granted Colossus’ wish, to be given more power than ever before, power enough to kill Cyttorak.  Cyttorak choose, instead, to give it to Marko.  Cain wants to avenge his brother (I’m glad someone picked up this plot point.  It was nice when Carey remembered it for David in Legacy) by killing Cyclops.

Since Juggernaut isn’t going to be convinced, with words, to not kill Cyclops – Storm instructs the team to take off Juggernaut’s helmet.

Marko takes off the helmet, and his head sort of looks like Neuro’s head, so even without the helmet, he is resistant to telepaths.  In fact, Juggernaut has no weaknesses.

Juggernaut puts the helmet back on, all of the X-Men let Xavier die so they are all targets of his.  Colossus stands before him and starts wailing on him.  He is pretty sure that he breaks his hands.  Oddly, he narrates that he is one of the strongest beings on the planet.  I’m pretty sure that he is on the weaker end of that scale.  I doubt he is even in the top ten.

One punch later from Juggernaut, Colossus is regretting his decision, even more.  Colossus searches for another strategy, and he things “what would Logan do?”  Wolverine would have cheated.  Apparently they were on a cliff and Colossus breaks the ground under their feet and Juggernaut goes into the ocean.  They both end up in the ocean but Colossus comes to the shore first.  The X-Men joke about last issue’s reveal that Colossus likes to make the self-sacrifice.

Since Juggernaut is unstoppable, he is still sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

Issue ends with the gathered X-Men choosing to not warn Cyclops and Juggernaut punches his way through the rock bottom.

Pretty good arc, I would say!  Who knows if I will get the next issue.

Post 850!!!

Meghan Trainor has treated us to two songs, wherein she either appeared on someone’s track or got someone one her track.

She guests on Charlie Puth’s Marvin Gaye –

Thanks to Charlie Puth for hosting his own video.

She got Oscar winner, John Legend, to guest on her song, Like I’m Gonna Lose You –

Thanks to MeganTrainorVEVO for hosting her video.

Both are such good songs!

Drawing Crazy Patterns – Kitty Pryde Speeches

http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2014/12/13/drawing-crazy-patterns-kitty-pryde-gives-an-impassioned-speech/

Brian Cronin has done a post regarding Kitty’s top five speeches.  The issues covered are –

God Loves, Man Kills

New Mutants Volume One Issue 45

Mekanix 5

Astonishing X-Men 22

All New X-Men 13

Still bugs me so much that I don’t own All New X-Men 13!

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed any of these issues for this blog.  If I can get my hands on a copy of All New 13, I’ll make a point of doing the rest of these issues.

I keep thinking that there is a big speech of hers that isn’t represented but none of the commentators offered any.

Two issues have received special shoutouts – Excalibur 34 (her pep talk in School Girls from Heck – which I will be covering in February) and Uncanny X-Men 210, that I should be posting soon.
