Thanks to justintimberlakeVEVO for hosting his video.
Like most people, I’m sort of addicted to this song. It is super catchy! I type that as someone who isn’t a huge JT fan, most of his popular songs don’t sound like songs to me. Like Sexy Back, is he even singing on that track?
This song is for DreamWorks’ Trolls, that should be out on November 3rd, I believe. I’m hoping the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trolls make it to the film.
I’m not sure if that movie is working under the rules of the Lego Film wherein they have the rights to everything Troll but those were the only ones I ever bought. I’m sure I was given some or gotten one for free but I wasn’t ever swept up in it. My sister had a subscription to Troll magazine and had a lot more of them.
The Trolls film I had already decided I wasn’t going to track the film but then this song came out and I had to look the film up.
There is a more star studded music video –
that VEVO channel hosted this video too.
The stars are – the beatufiul Anna Kendrick, the funny late night host Josh Cordan, Gwen Stafani, @Midnight alum and super funny Ron Funches, Big Bang Theory’s Kuanal Nayyar. The two ladies with the puppies, I didn’t know but that’s Icona Pop.
I know I’ve posted this before but –
Saturday Night Live’s (who hosted this video) Dongs All Over the World, features Anna Kendrick and has an appearance by Icona Pop. Such a fun song!
JustinTimberlakeVEVO hosted this video as well.
I wouldn’t mind if they posted the full video of the stars dancing but they smartly released Anna Kendricks and it is awesome! Is there anything she’s not great in? I doubt it as I’ve seen a lot of her films.
Special thanks to our friends, Tina & Damian for watching Walker Dennis for nearly four hours before we made it back to pick him up. Without them, we’ll never watch movies in the theater.
This film is an absolute blast!
We are going for full spoilers here.
In 1991, we see Winter Soldier being sent on a mission to kill two targets.
In Largos. The film puts the year and the countries’ names in giant white text, which feels like a bold choice. I really like how we first see Captain America leading his team of Avengers – Falcon, Black Widow and Wanda. They are chasing Crossbones and we see some great team dynamics. Everyone gets a moment to shine. Unfortunately, one of Wanda’s moments is that Crossbones tries to kill himself (and Cap) and she starts floating him to the sky. He doesn’t quite make it there and explodes, taking out an entire floor.. Seven Wakandans were in the building, and are now dead.
At MIT, Tony gives a speech and a demonstration of a new therapy tool. It lets you essentially have a holodeck session from Star Trek Next Generation. He relives a moment with his father (returning John Slattery) and his mother, played by the beautiful and elegant Hope Davis! I’ve liked Hope Davis ever since I saw Mumford – one of my all time favorite films! We see a young CGI Robert Downy Jr. that looks like it could have been from one of his earliest films. Though the scene lasts too long and I start thinking about how it is only slightly better than the face lifts that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan received in X3. We get the first hints that Tony and Pepper are no longer a couple.
Jim Rash, of Community fame – who the Russo Brothers directed this film (and Winter Solider AND the next two Avengers films) also directed Rash in several episodes of Community.
General Ross, now the Secretary of Defense, has come to the Avengers Compound with news. I like how William Hurt came back to reprise his role. He is there to tell them about the Sokovia Accords. Cap is not a fan of the Accords. The UN is run by dudes, and dudes have agendas. What if they don’t approve of a mission that the Avengers really want to go on or are told to go on a mission that they don’t want to be involved with.
I’m not sure how anyone can be Team Tony but I’m definitely Team Cap, I was back in the original comic storyline and I’m still committed.
Vision makes a few good points but he’s wrong as he is on Team Tony. Vision makes an argument about escalation, buy does his best not to use that word as that is how Batman Begins ended with that incredible speech of Commissioner Gordon’s.
I do like Vision and Wanda together, I wish it had more romantic undertones, instead of me reading too much into their moments.
Him wearing that sweater is pretty great too.
If they don’t sign the Accords, those members will no longer be Avengers.
The character who will later be revealed to be Baron Zemo – played amazingly by Daniel Bruhl, torments a retired Russian general. I sort of recognize him from Inglourious Basterds, at least, I can visualize him from it. I need to watch Rush to see him with Chris Hemsworth. I’ve never seen this before but he hangs the general upside down, so that his head is in the sink. The sink continues to fill so that, ideally, the water will rise to the point that it goes above his nose. Seems like a truly gruesome way to torture someone and to die. He really wants to know where Winter Soldier was kept in 1991. Oh, we saw earlier that Winter Solider can be controlled by repeating 12 words in a certain sequence.
Cap gets a message that Peggy Carter died in her sleep. We go to LONDON for her funeral. We see the lovely Emily Vancamp from Winter Solider and ABC’s Revenge. She’s back as Sharon Carter. She recites the amazing speech from Amazing Spider-Man 537 –
Such a great speech and Emily really nails it. We can see that Cap likes her too, she’s Peggy’s niece.
We never see her wear this –
but bravo someone tricky her to get into this outfit and getting photographed.
Vancamp and Chris Evans have great chemistry together. There is a moment where the two kiss and Falcon & Winter Solider totally see it and give Cap thumbs up, like jerk best friends. We don’t get enough of this but whenever Falcon and Winter Solider are together, their rivalry is so fun to watch. They are both best friends of Steve’s and they know it and hate it.
Vision is alone with Wanda, she doesn’t know it yet but she’s not allowed to leave. She likes Vision and we can tell he likes her, but there isn’t enough romantic tension for my taste. Wanda is playing the role of Nitro in this but is then quickly forgotten about, for a sizeable chuck of the film. I guess that happened to Nitro too, in the first quarter, he was mentioned a bunch but then the story moves away from him and he’s forgotten. Outside of the Wolverine tie-in issues, of course.
VIENNA. The Accords are being signed by like 119 countries. We meet T’Chaka, the current King of Wakanda. So we know something horrible is going to happen to him. He seems very friendly. T’Challa is standing by a window and sees an oddly parked white van. The van explodes and T’Chaka dies. The world suspects that Winter Soldier was the cause of the explosion. Cap and Falcon go off to bring him in, ahead of the military and police. Black Widow tells them not to as they are not signed Avengers.
T’Challa is played by Chadwick Boseman who was Jackie Robinson in 42. A film I still need to watch. I know him from a nonhit NBC show, Persons Unknown, that we watched on Hulu or Netflix, years later and I still think about to this day, like three years later. He was also on Lincoln Heights, a show my wife started watching, as she watched nearly everything on ABC Family but not so much now that it is Free Foam. At first, T’Challa is bad arse but it isn’t until the final scenes of the film when I became all about Black Panther. I do like the character, especially written by Christopher Priest and his “Sturm und Drang,” Black Panther Volume Three Issues 26 – 29. Such a great storyline that involves all of the Kings of Marvel – Black Panther, Magneto, Namor and Doctor Doom. So great!
We are introduced to Everett Ross, played by Martin Freeman, Bilbo Baggins from the Hobbit films. I wish we got a scene with Everett Ross and T’Challa, that would have been fun for this Christopher Priest fan. I really need to watch BBC’s Sherlock, especially now that Freeman (Watson) and Benedict Cumberpatch (Sherlock) are now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, Doctor Who’s Steven Moffat is heavily involved in the series. Plus, the seasons are way short so I should be able to do so. I’m working my way through X-Men Evolution Season Two (expect to see that post one of these days) and the OC (a show I’ve been wanting to watch for a long time and Hulu now has) then maybe I can watch Sherlock then. If my wife doesn’t want to watch it as well. We like Elementary so she might want to see Sherlock, same characters but that’s all they have in common.
The chase sequence with Winter Solider being chased by Captain America, who is being chased by Black Panther who is being followed by Falcon, is so great! Black Panther, in action, is a real treat to see. That stairway sequence that starts it, and how Cap doesn’t want to fight the German police but he has to protect his friend Bucky, is so much fun.
BERLIN. Cap and Tony are arguing about what to do. Zemo reads the twelve words and now the Winter Soldier is his. I like how Cap and Tony are about to reach an agreement but Tony says one wrong thing and Cap backs out of the deal. Tony’s dad mentioned a bunch over the years, how he knew Captain America, in his younger days. The government has taken Cap and Falcon’s equipment. Steve chases Winter Solider and has this great moment, on the roof, when he grabs a rail and the helicopter that Winter Solider is using to escape and Steve actually prevents the helicopter from taking off. He’s so strong!
Bucky, finally under his own control, reveals that Zemo wants the other five would-be Winter Soldiers.
We begin the sequence of heroes recruiting heroes to fight their friends.
Sharon Carter gives back Cap and Falcon’s weapons. Cap recruits Hawkeye, who recruits Wanda. She takes out Vision, at the Avengers Compound. Hawkeye also recruits Scott Lang, Ant-Man and Paul Rudd’s first minutes are instantly classic. The film really takes a depature here as we lead up to one of the best scenes in a film, possibly ever. We’ll get to that in a few paragraphs. Ant-Man shakes Captain America’s hand, way to long. Lots of jokes here and I want another Ant-Man film, so quickly.
Meanwhile, Natasha and Tony chat. She wants to recruit Black Panther and Tony wants to recruit someone else. QUEENS. In a very small apartment, we see Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. I honestly thought we weren’t going to see the character outside of the airport scene so this entire scene (and how long it lasted) was a very pleasant surprise. We of course, meet Tom Holland, the third actor to play Peter Parker, in fifteen years. He sort of looks like a young Tobey Maguire – they both have wide faces. Maybe I’m crazy.
Turns out, RDJ and Tomei dated back in their early acting days. Both were together for films “Only You” and “Chaplin” which I’ve seen the second one but don’t quite remember Tomei being in it. I’ve liked Marisa Tomei but when I look at her films, I haven’t seen that many of them so I’m not sure where I really like her from. I didn’t care for My Cousin Vinny, not when it came out (I was too young) and I couldn’t get into it a few years ago either. Too much that Joe Pesci, I like mine a little more controlled like in JFK or in smaller doses like in the Lethal Weapon films. What Women Want, The Guru and Anger Management, I’ve seen her in, not large parts but she’s the aspect in those films. I don’t quite remember her from both Wild Hogs or Loverboy but I’ve seen those. She was interesting in Lincoln Lawyer, a film I couldn’t get into. Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead is a good film, while she’s on screen. She was great in Crazy, Stupid, Love. I still want to watch the Wrestler. She had a small part in the great, The Big Short, film too.
Tom Holland is a new face to me, he’s great as Peter Parker and sign me up for that upcoming Marvel / Sony Spider-Man film. He tries his best to not repeat “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility” when Tony asks him why he fights the good fight. Have to save that for his solo film, I suppose. I like how small their apartment is and how Peter had to build everything he wanted. Tony has great chemistry with Peter too, I’m glad RDJ is signed on for Spider-Man : Homecoming. I imagine at some point, that film will have a dancing scene in it.
The Airport Scene. So many great scenes leading up to this and out of this but this scene, I just want to watch again, if that’s possible without spending twenty dollars.
Thanks to Tumblr user, ageofsuperheroes, for the following images.
We get Team Cap –
vs Team Tony –
Plenty of images of Team Cap but it was so hard to find an image of Team Tony, I imagine due to Spider-Man.
It really is a great costume redesign –
I really like how they kept the white eyes, that’s crucial ever since Amazing Spider-Man did it right. I like the bold reds and the blues and how separate they look. I know there are smaller details that might bug me but overall, it is a costume I can approve of. I’m hoping that we don’t get too much of the make-shift outfit in his own film – I”m also hoping we don’t get an hour of origin story either – and so his solo film takes place 30 minutes before Civil War and the rest of his film takes place after the film.
We get some great matchups here. Spider-Man gets plenty of time to banter. Falcon has to tell him to stop at some point. Ant-Man gets flung from one of Hawkeye’s arrows into Iron Man’s suit. Black Widow fights Hawkeye. Black Panther gets to fight Winter Soldier. Falcon v War Machine. Ant-Man turns into Giant-Man, as there is an ant in every giant. That’s a WordWorld reference for you folks that don’t young children.
Thanks to YouTuber Abdoukarim Bonitzer for hosting that video!
Vision phases through Giant-Man, and Scott Lang freaks the heck out. I wish Kitty got to fight this much, like Vision does, in the X-Men films.
Captain America and Winter Solider steal the Avengers Quinjet, after Black Widow lets them do it. In the chase, Vision misses Falcon and hits War Machine, knocking him out of the sky. Poor Rhodey is nearly crippled by this action. Tony is sad that his friend is hurt.
I kept waiting for this meme to take place in the film, but that would have been too much fun in a film that is already pretty fun.
Black Widow knows she’s going to be in trouble and leaves. Spider-Man’s mask is lifted, providing a reason to have Holland on set, as he clearly could have been CGI-ed up to that last part, but clearly he was present as he has such a presence.
Bucky tells Cap, in the Quinjet, that he remembers all of his kills.
Tony, in his own jet – and this reminds me that I do sort of like Iron Man’s new armor. Mostly red with yellow highlights. He learns that Bucky was set up and that it was Zemo, dressed as Bucky, that blew up the United Nations. Tony goes to The Raft, where Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Wanda and Falcon are being kept prisoner. Falcon reveals where Cap and Bucky went but only if Tony promises to go there as a friend and ally. Tony is all committed to this. Which I have to remember that we have yet to get the Cap/Bucky shield fight with Iron Man, which I can’t imagine how they get to that point. When they do, it is spectacular!
All the heroes, including Black Panther following Iron Man in a jet, make it to the snow base that Zemo has been trying to get all movie long. He killed the five would-be Winter Soldiers, he never wanted them. Behind a glass plated door, he starts a devastating film. We see the beginning of the tape from the beginning of the film, but now we see who Winter Soldier killed. Winter Soldier straight up killed Tony’s parents! Including Hope Davis!
If Cap was a good friend, he would let Tony beat on Bucky for like ten minutes and then break up the fight. Tony realizes that Bucky was under mind controlled but Winter Solider killed his mother so a beating must be thrown down.
Zemo, not a German (which is a real shame) is from Sokovia and has been listening to voicemails throughout the film of his wife about their son. They died, and by the time he got back to his family (he was on a mission) the Avengers were gone and his father were holding Zemo’s wife and son’s dead bodies. He thought they were safe living so far out of the city but since the entire country was air lifted, no one was safe. Zemo wanted to take the Avengers out from within. Which may not have completely worked but the Avengers have definitely said and done things that no one will be forgetting anytime soon.
Since Cap won’t let a rightful beating happen, he prolongs the fight by getting involved. At the end, Tony wants his dad’s invented shield back and Cap drops it. Iron Man took off Winter Soldier’s cybernetic arm.
Zemo is about to kill himself but Black Panther stops him and it is this moment that I really dig the character. His fight was never with Bucky so he changes to the proper target. Something Tony tried to do but his mother’s murderer is standing in front of him so justice must be beaten out.
Everett Ross has Zemo (who I also wish had some sort of purple fabric on) in the same prison cell that Winter Solider was in earlier. Zemo’s plans may have been stopped but he hints that he may have additional plans that are still playing out.
At the Avengers Compound, Tony got Rhodes some cybernetic leg braces. Stan Lee, as a FedEx carrier, asks Tony if he is “Tony Stank” which I and Rhodes enjoys. In the box, is an old school phone from Steve and a letter. Whenever Tony needs these (Secret) Avengers (that’s what I’m calling Cap’s team, in my mind) they will be there. As Cap is breaking out the Avengers from The Raft.
Credits start to roll and we get the mid-credit sequence wherein Black Panther agrees to put Bucky on ice until they can find that red Russian notebook with the twelve words. Cap’s cool with it but it seems an odd choice.
So then two minutes of credits and I have to use the bathroom so we missed the after credits scene.
Thanks to YouTuber Closery for hosting this video so that I could pee with peace of mind This would have been fun to have seen in proper quality and sound.
I forgot how Spider-Man and Cap shared that fun exchange about Queens / Brooklyn, that was a nice touch. Spider-Man also got to make a Empire Strikes Back reference too.
This was such a great film, lots of humor and great characterization. Everyone got a moment to shine and clearly the Russos know how to handle this many characters so we don’t have to fear for the space Avengers films.
I believe that captures all of my thoughts on the film. I’m not sure if I’ll get to watch X-Men Apocalypse, but who knows at this point.
Some new and surprising footage is put in this final trailer.
Always nice to see the Graymalkin Lane sign, it feels like a Singer film.
Xavier having a school and students, he’s coming along nicely.
That desert island local looks pretty nice. Magneto’s new costume isn’t too bad either.
Xavier really thought he was going to have a fist fight with Apocalypse? That must be on the astral plane, right?
I like the hints of a school uniform, with the black suits and white collars. I would like more color but that’s not going to happen.
Mutant Arena, there’s a fun way to sneak a bunch of mutants into a scene. Angel v Nightcrawler, reminds me of Ultimate X-Man, still the only place those two characters worked together for a long time.
Quicksilver knows that Magneto is his father, something that was strongly hinted at in Days of Future Past, but I like the confirmation. Mystique is caught by surprise.
Angel gets metal wings!
Beast v Psylocke, has to be a fast fight. Was that a purple telekentic flare up on her sword? So terrific!
Jubilee! She’s suppose to have a few scenes in this, but that’s the first time I really saw her in one of these.
At the two minute mark, it looks like they are trying to give Blue Mystique a white dress type outfit, I like that direction. See it again at the 2:10 mark.
Looks like we get a full blue body glimpse of Mystique, not sure why that is necessary.
2:27 mark, that answers that main question I’ve been having! We got to get a little Wolverine and Cyclops fun in there.
I read that the ideal sequel will deal with the Dark Phoenix Saga, which if they can work Lockheed and Kitty back into this, that would be awesome but I imagine they want to do a 90s film next. Plus, anything that keeps correcting the mistake of X3 (besides the excellent casting of Ellen Page) I’m all for it.
Now, this is the only other issue of Age of Apocalypse, besides the final issue – Omega. This issue was pretty confusing but maybe I’ll be able to follow this one better.
The issue opens with the Madri torturing Bishop, as he may ruin all of Apocalypse’s schemes. Shadow King was able to see Bishop’s memories of the proper timeline. Bishop has been tortured for two days now. Does Bishop ever comment on his memories of this timeline? I imagine he could work it into many conversations. But he also doesn’t talk about his childhood of the future either.
Storm drops from the sky, here to save Bishop. With a gust wind, the Madri are thrown back. This gives Storm the time she needs to use her lockpicks to unlock Bishop. Bishop is surprised to see them and Storm asks if his Storm doesn’t have these skills and works in how she was an orphan in this timeline.
Storm hints that her fellow X-Men, Quicksilver and Banshee are outside. They are trying to find the source of the Madri’s power. Banshee lets out a hypersonic signal that knocks out the first guard. Banshee states that all the cats and dogs in the ten mile area are losing their minds. With the opening of a door, they see that the Madri really are . . . .Jamie Madrox! Who is a bit insane, at first, I thought he was Jamie Braddock. Their mission is to kill him but he looks insane, due to spreading himself so thin.
The Remains of the Xavier Estate. We find the Astonishing X-Men (so I’m not sure besides the above three, who makes up the Amazing roster). The Astonishing X-Men are Sabretooth, Blink and Morph (both of whom I know from Exiles), Wild Child and Rogue.
Iceman told them, so I guess he’s part of Amazing?, that Bishop and Magneto were captured. Rogue is worried that both her husband and son are in danger. Apocalypse had personally been there to oversee the mission.
Sabretooth sniffs all three Rasputins. Sabretooth just says, a child, so Rogue thinks it may be her son – Charles. Colossus pipes up that the child is his sister. They were successful with their mission. Colossus hints at the horrible price as Shadowcat stands at a distance, not pleased.
Rogue is sad to hear about the deaths of Generation Next. No hint that Colossus allowed them to all to die, so that his sister may live. Blink is shock, as she should have been on that team. Which is the opposite of what happened to her in the Proper Marvel Universe, where the Pre-Generation X team (with Jubilee) was on a fateful first mission and Blink had died during.
Rogue goes to comfort Shadowcat , who I do like how she goes by Kate in this timeline. She didn’t have the proper childhood that allowed a silly pet name, like Kitty. Kate tells Rogue that she has no tears left to cry. Kate also says that the estate was empty when they arrived. Exodus and Dazzler (possible other Amazing cast members?) are in the tunnels looking for Charles.
Kate further tells the team that Quicksilver went to Quebec. Rogue tells Sabretooth that he is with her.
Rogue, Sabretooth and Wild Child are now in the Tunnels, I can only imagine these are the Morlock Tunnels. They come across Dazzler and Exodus. With them are Gambit and Jubilee, I believe. Gambit knows where Charles is.
Rogue is punching Gambit (which is a fun sight) as he had to let Charles go.
Quebec. Storm and Bishop are quickly losing ground, they need support.
Elsewhere. Quicksilver and Banshee don’t know what to do; meanwhile, Madrox is begging them to kill him. Once he is dead, the Madri will fade away. Quicksilver is conflicted but Banshee is all for killing him, as it is war time. Before they can make a decision, Abyss arrives to taunt them. Quicksilver has defeated Abyss before. Abyss doesn’t allow that to phase him, as he jokes that Bishop and the woman that Quicksilver loves (Storm) are in dire straits. I guess it is a secret that he has feelings for her as Quicksilver is surprised Abyss knows that.
Abyss calls Banshee a coward and this unleashes Banshee, I really dig his costume redesign, he should wear that outfit again. Banshee tells Quicksilver to grab Madrox and save Bishop & Storm. Banshee is willing to die, if he takes Abyss with him. Banshee enters Abyss’ body and causes him to explode from within. This reminds me of how you defeat Abyss in X-Men Legends II.
Thanks to YouTuber ShadowMokujin for hosting this video.
Quicksilver makes it out, but he is sad as a man he thought of as a brother, has just died like the hero that he is. Madrox still wants to be killed. If Madrox dies, Storm & Bishop will no longer be in danger. Storm is loved and Bishop is needed so Madrox allows himself to die – though I’m not sure how.
Minutes Later. Storm cries over the deaths, more sacrifices being made to stop Apocalypse. Quicksilver hugs and comforts her.
Xavier Estate. Gambit has confessed that Strong Man took Charles. Guido took him, as he was the best chance of Charles escaping peacefully. So “took” isn’t the right word. From Rogue’s reaction, I take it he isn’t an ally so it must still be a bad decision.
I like how this issue is the pay off of both Generation Next and X-Calibre, as we learn that Generation Next was successful in their mission of saving Illyana and we learn that X-Calibre (Kurt’s team) was successful in saving Destiny. I doubt Gambit’s series (X-Ternals) was about saving Charles but maybe it was but it doesn’t feel like a conclusion.
A ship lands and Quicksilver, Storm and Bishop come out. I like seeing Rogue and Quicksilver having a moment.
Sabretooth states that Gambit was the only one who failed their mission.
Issue ends with Quicksilver stating what they have to do. Get the piece of the M’Kraan Crystal (that Gambit failed to do) and save his father and brother (took me a second to realize he’s talking about Charles).
This will all conclude in X-Men Omega, that we will get to but we have one more stop to make.
Thanks to YouTube Kids’ WB for hosting this video.
Also thanks to commenter, Daniel Gonçalves de Amorim, for the suggestion!
The episode that introduces Dani Moonstar and has her become friends with Kitty!
I sold my collection of X-Men Evolution to Hastings, as it was getting cluttered on our bookcase. I’m hoping one day they will put out a Complete Series and I’ll snatch that up. Though, the only time I think they could swing it, is when X-Men Apocalypse comes out, as season four was the only season to not be released and Apocalypse is all over that season.
Episode opens with Wolverine on a motorcycle. Sam and Logan partner up. Other students are there too. They are all trying to enjoy the desert, before it sinks into the reservoir.
I don’t quite remember this episode, maybe I only saw the fourth season once.
Kitty and Rogue are a pair, and Kitty goes off a beating path. Way off, as she falls off a cliff, along with her kart. I did like the friendship Rogue and Kitty had, on this show. The show really did do a good job of putting pairs together, we knew how all the students got along with each other.
The kart crashes and Kitty saves herself, she can do a pullup.
Wolverine knows someone had an accident. Kitty is all by herself, until Dani Moonstar saves her. My favorite X-Man with my third favorite New Mutant! Dani is cool with Kitty being a mutant, as she is a mutant. Dani believes Kitty has a better power than her own. Wolverine and Rogue arrive. Wolverine isn’t happy that Rogue left her partner behind.
Xavier is meeting with Dani. Rogue apologizes to Kitty, they get over it, as they are friends.
I like the new outfits the students got. Xavier introduces Danielle as a new student, Kitty is excited and shows her Kitty’s room. Xavier and Wolverine talk about Dani, she has a form of telepathic powers but she is a troubled young lady.
In a Danger Room session, Jean tells the students the goal. Iceman, Sunspot and Sam are on squad. Dani is with them. Kurt is part of the ‘surprises’ that the younger students have to work against. Dani loses her focus and starts forcing people to see their nightmares.
Jean floats away, Kurt is in hell and Kitty keeps phasing through the ground.
Dani is freaked out, along with everyone else but they are cool. Well, the faculty have a chat with her and Kitty takes Dani’s side.
Is Dani being angry and distrusting racist? Dani has a nightmare so she forces others to suffer their own nightmares. Wolverine is tied up again, Storm has her room crashing on top of her. Xavier wakes up to the Sentinels coming for his kids.
Xavier wakes up Kitty, and has a chat with her along with Storm and Wolverine. Like a good friend, Kitty defends Dani. When Kitty wakes up, Dani is gone. Not only gone but completely moved out.
So weird that they keep calling her, Danielle. Kitty confronts Xavier, and no one has heard of this Danielle before. The world believes she never existed. Xavier tells Kitty that she’s been sleeping since her accident.
In Kitty’s dream, Dani reaches out to her. There is water everywhere. Kitty gets a phone call from Dani, it is dark (and most likely, wet) where she is. Kitty gets Kurt to help her. It doesn’t take Kitty long to suspect that Xavier mindwiped everyone.
Wolverine and Sam get time to do another race, they want to see who the winner is. The students are creating obstacles. Sunspot throws some boulders. Magma creates a lava pit.
Kurt and Kitty get to Dark Hollow, and they find a deserted town, which Dani hinted that everyone left her, in the past. Kitty answers a phone call from Dani, Kurt freaks out as there was no ringing phone.
In a phone book, they find the Moonstar’s address on Maggie Blue Road – who is the excellent voice actress for Kitty! That’s pretty fun! I didn’t even need to look that up, for this post, I only had to look up which episode number this was. It is also the 50th episode of the series.
Dani’s grandfather tells Kurt and Kitty that everyone left, two years ago.
Cannonball loses the race.
Kitty and Kurt go back to where Kitty first fell and Kitty knows that Dani must be nearby. Kurt teleports to tell reinforcements.
Kitty phases through the ground until she finds a cavern. Poor Dani has been down there for two years! That’s a very long time! Too long! Danielle is close to death! How she isn’t dead, is beyond me. They should have just said she was down there for two months or something. Two yaers is so many days!
Kurt can’t teleport to where he hasn’t seen before. Iceman freezes the reservoir. What has Dani been eating for two years? Magma burns a path, as the water keeps rising. Kurt teleports down and saves the ladies.
Kitty got to wear four outfits this episode! That has to be a record.
Xavier explains to Kurt and Wolverine that Dani put herself into a sort of hibernation. So that explains that, but not really. Her powers made it possible for her to reach out to Kitty.
A neat little episode, this twenty minutes went by way fast!
The next two episodes are Ascension, Parts One and Two, also the final two episodes. I hadn’t realized that the fourth season was only eight episodes. Which would have been only two DVDs, I wonder why they didn’t just release it?
I really like Sabino’s commitment to making their speech balloons are upside down, along with them. AoA Shadowcat and Peter Quill are blaming each other, for their present situation.
Gambit corrects them, they are both to blame. Gambit, correctly, assumes that Quill is Pryde’s sidekick. He denies, this, though he is willing to be Thor’s sidekick.
Gambit likes to remind Pryde of their time together in Higher Avalon. I like how he wants to put a Spider-Man mask, on her. They make references to the other domains, as they are in the know.
There is a huge KLANG and Gambit goes to investigate.
Shadowcat explains why she is powerless against Widget. When God Doom created Battleworld, he knew he would be having duplicated heroes. I guess he also figured they would eventfully meet and wanted to make sure that any fights, will have to be bad arse.
Look at those various Shadowcats! A teenage one, maybe from House of M. Ultimate Shadowcat. Black Queen, from Mutant X – so great! AoA Shadowcat, in the center, as she is the star of this series. Widget, from the Proper Marvel Universe or that one from the Uncanny X-Force storyline when they went to the Captain Britain Corps (Otherworld). issues 20 – 23. Proper Kitty Pryde, from the costume and the awesome Lockheed! Finally, there is a Tigra Shadowcat, which is pretty fun.
Quill gets a plan, since Widget is a Kitty Pryde, it should be attracted to him – so he starts a flirtmance.
He sings, as he always does, Once Upon A Dream – from Cinderella.
Thanks to YouTuber DisneyMusicVEVO for hosting the video.
It totally works and Widget and Quill kiss!
Gambit comes back, he couldn’t find anything except for a tacky white jacket.
Since it worked, Widget has let StarKat go. Shadowcat tries to stab Gambit, we are told more about the actual mission in Avalon. Gambit stole the Sword of the Knight Crawler (get it?) so that must be how he screwed her over. The knife she tried to use, was one of the Longshot knives so it bounces off of Gambit. It bounces from Gambit, off of Shadowcat, off the head of a statue of God Doom, nearly misses Widget and it slices Quill’s right arm.
What a fun and soft homage to Uncanny X-Men 141. At first, I didn’t think it was suppose to be that, but the posters of God Doom and Shadowcat’s outstretch arm, seals the deal.
God Doom appears and scares Gambit. I keep typing it “Gabmit” does anyone else do that?
With a nasty upper cut, Gambit is taken out. Shadowcat starts trying to explain the situation. I take it, that she deals more with Valeria, his daughter.
God Doom was really Fun Loving Drax, which I’m sure must be super illegal!
Later. Quill and Drax want to know what has been in the briefcase, this entire time. She reveals what it is . . . A tail! Quill instantly recognizes that it is his old pal, Rocket’s tail! Apparently, there is a rumor that Rocket’s tail is fake, if that makes any sense.
Twenty minutes later, Quill is still hugging the tail. Drax reveals that he left Gambit in front of a defaced God Doom poster, Doom Sux. The Thors arrive, the penalty for defiling the image of God Doom, with a typo, is . . . DEATH! I sort of love the concept of that rule book, with that cause in it.
Shadowcat wants the tail back. Quill, in a very touching moment, doesn’t want to depart with it. It is the only piece of home he has, plus of his friend, that he has seen in forever. Shadowcat can relate, as she isn’t home either. Quill tries to hand it over, but she lets him keep it.
Look how happy he is! This comic (and series) has been so great. Quill proceeds to try to ruin the moment.
Pryde can’t resist anymore, all of that disgust has turn around to attraction. He guesses at what it was, that turn her.
It was his puppy dog eyes. She does love that song, good thing Disney films are everywhere. Pryde leaves, stating that she hopes he doesn’t get himself killed.
Drax hears Quill’s real name, as he was using “Steve Rogers” as an alias. Drax knew he wasn’t a variant of Captain America, as Rogers has never had a singing voice.
Issue ends with the two guys joking, Quill wants an army of Rockets.
This has been one of the best series to come out of Secret Wars 2015. From the writing, to the art, to the coloring, the atmosphere has just been pure fun.

So this scenario came to me the other day.
So let’s say there is a enemy who is taking hostages and Cyclops is the only guy around. He starts optic blasting foes and takes care of business – as Scott Summers do.
Then afterwards – when he is walking back to the Blackbird – he starts walking pass the civilians he just saved. Someone gets bold enough to shout at him, good job with the heat vision!
This, of course, makes Cyclops sad as his powers are not heat generated. It is more of a force. Also, it will remind him of Uncanny X-Men 391 – the awesome issue where Corsair and Scott go camping and poor Christopher Summers makes the huge mistake of asking his adult son, to start the camp fire with his eyes. Scott had to explain to his father, how his powers works. It is a great issue and that is essentially my review of it as it doesn’t have Kitty, Lockheed nor Illyana so this is the only time I can do the review.
I couldn’t find a perfect screencap of it but this website has it in a funny way :
I will always remember the issue number as it is the very next issue after Uncanny X-Men 390, the issue Colossus died in. So two great issues, back to back. Scott Lobdell was on all cylinders!
So, Cyclops is still walking away from that guy, maybe he is making a sad face or a grimace – or even a brave face. He will get through this.
Next – some other guy recognizes him as Cyclops of the X-Men and shouts at him – Hey! Do you know Wolverine, that guy is cool! Then adds insult to injury by doing the claws stabbing the air thing that I’ve seen so many people do. Trying to imitate Wolverine.
Cyclops doesn’t respond to this jerk either, but by now, he must be having Joe Harnell’s Lonely Man theme from the Incredible Hulk television series, playing in his mind.
Thanks to YouTuber Gustavo for hosting the video.
Such an amazing song! I will often think about hitch hiking, also, when I think of this song.
So Cyclops is just putting on a brave face, hoping to stop hearing about heat visions and Wolverine being cool, having sad songs playing in his head.
Instead of all that, he should be having :
Cyclops, Just Blast a Dude from Uncanny X-Cast 50, playing in his head. Sung / rap by Brian Perillo. Based off of Young MC’s Bust a Move.
A song that I wake up to every morning. Rob Briscoe’s Muties, We were Born to Run
is another favorite. Of course, taken from Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run.
I just checked this post in preview and it looked like those two links didn’t work so here is the Uncanny X-Cast dropbox link.
Now that I think of it, I guess this scenario only works in a universe where a guy with heat vision is super popular to create the assumption. Do many people have heat vision in the Marvel Universe? I suppose Vision does. Gladiator does too but I can’t imagine many on Marvel Earth know who that is – even though he is the King of the Shi’ar. Hyperion would to, but again, not many would know about the Squadron Squadron. I can’t think of a fourth person and Gladiator and Hyperion are just Superman versions in the Marvel Universe – I’m sure there has been various other carbon copies floating about.
Marvel Knights Spider-Man Volume One 13 through 18, the Wild Blue Yonder, had Spider-Man meeting a new superhero who turn out to be a Skrull, that guy had heat vision if I remember correctly. Virtue, was the character name.
Thanks to 20th Century Fox for hosting this video.
After the Super Bowl ad, we got an official two and a half minute trailer.
I really like Magneto and Xavier repeating the conversation their future selves will have in X2, about people coming for Xavier’s students.
Is it me or is Apocalypse a darker shade of blue? Now he looks less like the Power Rangers’ Ivan Ooze – which is a step in the right direction.
I like when they are talking about the Four Horsemen, they show Angel with Psylocke clearly in the background, then cut to her in the foreground. Maybe unnecessary but I’m cool with more Olivia Munn footage.
No wonder people hate and fear mutants, this looks like destruction on a global level.
Quicksilver playing Ms. Pac-Man is awesome, as I love Ms. Pac-Man.
I’m fine with Jennifer Lawrence not being blue for the majority of the time. Maybe it is because I totally get it from a production side, if you still have Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence contracted for your film, you put her in the film as much as possible, looking like her recognizable self. Plus, we still get the blue skin with red hair look from time to time. Plus, I also understand that she doesn’t want to be in that makeup all of the time. If they just went with the classic comic book look, it would have just been a red hair dye and blue face and hands makeup job which would have been faster and easier to do.
I also like how much the students are involved in this film, I want a whole lot of Scott and Jean, or at least, Scott in this film.
Psylocke v Beast, looks decent.
I do, still, wish that Iceman could be in this, just for the sake of having all five original X-Men in a film again.
Cyclops v Storm, should also be pretty great!
I’m pretty jazzed for this film! If we could get a babysitter and can afford the movie tickets, I would love to see this in the theater.
