Newsarama has a new interview with Dennis Hopeless, regarding the upcoming Inferno tie-in to Secret Wars 2015.
The story takes place five years after Inferno, if Inferno never stopped.

Herb Trimpe was the first gentleman to ever draw Wolverine, as well as being a legendary Incredible Hulk artist. He drew the Canadian in all thre issues of Incredible Hulk 180, 181 and 182. He also co-created Captain Britain and the Shroud. Herb Trimpe, May 26,1 939 to April 13, 2015 – even at the age of 75, seems like too soon!

We still don’t have confirmation if this broad in the white shirt and purple tinted hair is Shadowcat or Armor. The white shirt makes websites like Marvel Database believe it is Shadowcat but fans suspect that it is Armor due to the hair. So I’m not sure if I am keeping issue 33. I know I’m keeping this one as Shadowcat appears in flashbacks, we’ll get those.
So the two Jeans meet, so of course, they read each other’s minds.
There is something weird about the way Asrar draws breasts. Like they are lumps on women’s shirts. I didn’t notice it at this point but during the X23 scene. Like sad raindrops or something.
I do like this format to show flashbacks. Though, shouldn’t the sides be reversed? With the Ultimate images being on the right side and Teen Jean’s on the right? Though, I do suppose that in the past, the central figure was standing in front of their own flashbacks. So that makes sense.
I wish Kitty Pryde was shown in the All New cast in that far right panel.
Ultimate Shadowcat is presnt in that school picture on the inside left panel, she is standing next to Beast and behind Xavier. There will be one more instance later, but it is just this image in color.
Both Jeans pass out. I like how on the verge of freaking out is Spider-Man and Storm is super calm.
Atlanta, Georgia. Poor Iceman, in one of the hottest cities, so he can’t maintain his ice. Not a problem his present day self would have. He would make all of the sweat work for him, because he is disgusting.
Iceman puts down the Mole Man’s monster. Then the police show up. They say, freeze, Bobby makes a joke.
Weapon X. Hidden in the Canadian Wilderness. James Hudson, Wolverine Junior, is explaining how mutants were created in a human experiment. X23 gets confirmation that this isn’t their universe. X23 reveals to Jimmy that he may be Wolverine’s son but she is his clone.
At this point, X23 knows all about alternate universes while poor Angel, can barely get use to being in the future. X23 describes a House of M situation, wherein the world they know was changed into a new world. She wants to find the Ultimate version of that mutant who sent them here and see if she can send them back.
Latveria. Van Damme is interrogating Beast. He slipped young Beast a truth serum so he’s opening up on everything. How four of the Original Five X-Men are not only stuck in the future but now in an alternate dimension. He also has feelings for Jean and she hasn’t even spoken with him in months. The All New X-Men are lost in space AND time. Van Damme isn’t impress with the emotional wreck that is Hank McCoy. Van Damme is clearly interested in jumping dimensions.
Atlanta. Bobby is arrested by the police. Bobby doesn’t want to answer the officer’s questions. They Google “ice mutant” and they see that he is the X-Men’s Iceman. But he is younger than the picture. That clearly has Shadowcat in the picture. If only it was a little bigger.
The officer isn’t racist, he is mutant condescending. Which seems like a polite way to say the officer is racist.
Bobby escapes the police, by harnessing the car’s air conditioning.
Teen Jean wakes up at Cerebro. Ultimate Jean wants Tean to locate the Ultimate version of the mutant who sent them here. Also, her teammates. The two Jeans hug. For some reason, Ultimate Jean states that Tean is better than she is, which is crazy. Ultimate Jean was the president of a floating island. She mentally tricked the entire planet to see what she wanted them to see, which even Phoenix Jean couldn’t do, or didn’t do.
The X-Men giving Spider-Man an awkward silent treatment.
Ultimate Jean goes farther by saying she is a stronger psychic, which is just bonkers.
Issue ends with Jean discovering something via Cerebro.
Hopefully the mystery of the purple tinted white shirt lady is finally answered. Or at least, more official Shadowcat appearances.

I know I’m doing Daredevil Month here and I’ve included Daredevil pages in the other one but I only read one hardcover of the Bendis Daredevil run and the art with that was Alex Maleev. Lark did issues 82 through 119. Looking into this, he was the artist for Ed Brubaker’s Daredevil run, so now I know that.
So I got this for the Joss Whedon feature.
Spotlight was one of those series that I flipped through, looking to see if Kitty was shown on any pages, if so, I would buy it.
I like these types of series, where it is just in-depth interviews that are worthy of coming back to over time. In a world where Wizard doesn’t exist, we need something where this style of interview can be found in a format that isn’t online. CBR is great for interviews but once a few weeks go by, it is nearly impossible to relocate those interviews. Especially with creators like Bendis, where he does a slew of interviews for that website.
Whedon’s feature starts with a Marvel Handbook style introduction.
Above is the first page of six of his interview. I just scanned the pages with Kitty’s image on them. She’s mention on several pages.
Whedon’s Pull List was – Runaways, Powers, Planetary, Losers and Ultimate titles. He references Kitty and Spider-Man dating.
His favorite X-Men stories are – Uncanny X-Men 165, Uncanny X-Men 101, Uncanny X-Men 108, Uncanny X-Men 141 – 142 and Grant Morrison’s New X-Men.
I’ve included the entire script pages from Astonishing X-Men 4, as Kitty is on every page.

The Sanctum Sanctorum of the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange. Years Ago. Illyana teleports into Doctor Strange’s home. He’s not in the lobby.
Magik looks around and doesn’t find him. Until she makes it to the bedroom and sees that he’s been attending Clea.
The way Strange acts, I guess he and she have a mutually agreed time she visits. Appointments, if you will. So her showing up, unexpectedly, must be upsetting. They have a rule where she doesn’t hint at anything about his future to him. She is there to get advice on how to deal with Matthew Malloy.
Is it fun to come up with all of this mystical names? It has to be, right?
Devil’s Tower, Right Now. Cyclops is telling Matty M to not be impress with the great and powerful, Magneto. I like how Cyclops pretty much shuts Magneto down before he can even create any momentum. Magneto’s helmet can even prevent Malloy’s powers.
Malloy doesn’t want to waste any time with Magneto and teleports him back to the New Xavier School, just like he did with Cyclops two issues ago.

After hearing Magneto’s tale, Tempus wants to do something. Celeste overhears her thoughts and tells her to forget that route. Tempus really doesn’t like her mind being read. This is what I foresaw, once the Uncanny / All New X-Men Annuals happened, Tempus would be back in the book. She’s wearing the school uniform that Frank Quitely made famous.
I really adore Bendis continuing the concept of Celeste using should-be-forgotten X-Characters to express her humor.
The students agree, that it is a good idea to confront Xavier. Though senior students are hesitant.
Jean Grey School. Look, it is Doop and Kitty in the same room! I wish they exchanged a look or something!
Kitty always suspects that something went wrong, that way, she is typically right. Dazzler hopes Mystique is going to appear, so she can get her revenge.
Beast has to admit that the human race is failing the X-Men. Also, that the flatscans are sending an attack.
Cyclops is still trying to convince Matty M to join his side.
Magik appears with the Eye of Agamotto. I can’t believe Doctor Strange parted with it.
Is it me or does that page above look like it isn’t drawn by Bachalo? Maybe it is the coloring.
The eye will reveal if Matt is the hero they need or the villain they deserve.
The humans attack and count them, three skeletons! This is clearly not how Magik dies (I hope) but we have to wait to figure it out.
Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Years Ago. Bendis finally gets to pay off Raze’s comments he made in Uncanny X-Men V3 13, during Battle of the Atom. Raze tested out of the Time Cube and saw Xavier drinking tea in the garden.

Issue ends with Tempus, in her proper miniskirt uniform. Next issue should be pretty exciting. At least we know that time travel is involved so Magik will be saved.

Axel Alonso has had to, not retract but further clarify that his comments about a new world for them, Post-Secret Wars 2015, didn’t mean a Heroes Reborn style story. He just means that there will be the X-Men in the Proper Marvel Universe and they are involved in Secret Wars 2015.
I do like how he hints that we may lose some X-Men in the transfer but as long as Kitty, Illyana and Lockheed make it, that’s all I care about.

Book Five of Five
Secret War was what Ultimate Alliance 2 starts out with, and a few of the characters got to have their Secret War modified uniforms as a second costume in that game. Which was disappointing as the first Ultimate Alliance game had four costumes and the sequel only had two.
For those who didn’t play the game, Nick Fury chose a few handpicked heroes to invade Latveria and try to stop all of these tech specific villains from getting stronger. The heroes are – Wolverine, Daredevil, Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow and Luke Cage. They are going to overthrow the Latverian government, which isn’t being run by Doctor Doom as he is dead at the moment. Believed dead, anyways.
All that was a year ago, today, Luke Cage is attacked by the Latverian leader, Lucia von Bardas and now she has all of the tech heroes going after these heroes.
I like the SHIELD dossiers, this will lead to a Secret War handbook, which I also own.
This series introduced us to Daisy Johnson, hero name is Quake.
Issue opens in the SHIELD Headquarters Interrogation Room C. Fury is nowhere to be found, so Daisy Johnson is being interviewed. I like how Bendis knows his SHIELD agents as Director Maria Hill is accompanied by Agents Jasper Sitwell and Clay Quatermain, who I know from Peter David’s Incredible Hulk run. At least, that’s where I know them from. At least, Quatermain.
Quake is only 18, and has the higher security ranking. She doesn’t want to answer any questions that are obviously discoverable in her file that Hill has in her hands.
Six Hours Earlier. A bomb goes off in New York City, just like what would happen if you don’t successfully take down Lucia von Bardas in Ultimate Alliance 2. Thing tries to fight her. Von Bardas is harassing Fury. She knows that he screwed up. All of a sudden, she falls over dead. Quake exploded her heart.
Captain America wants Fury to tell the gathered heroes what happened, as they don’t recall any of this.
As far as I can see, this is the only page Kitty Pryde shows up on. The rest of the Astonishing X-Men cast show up from here but not Kitty.
So weird, in retrospect, that this is the only issue of the five that you really need. Bendis recaps the other four issues over the next several pages and all of the pay off happens here. This is the only issue you have to own.
Fury made it so that none of the heroes remember what happened in Latveria. Cap knows as he does missions for SHIELD all of the time. Wolverine is flipping angry to have someone he trusts muck around with his mind and memory. Quake explodes his heart. This displeases the assembled heroes. Before that happened, he got a few slashes into Fury. We learn that Fury is a LMD. He promises this is the last anyone will see of him. Which I checked his comicbookdb page and this issue came out in December 2005 and he shows up in Black Widow’s series the very next month and is seen at least somewhere once a month until July 2007 and then right back in issues again, so he never really goes away.
Issue ends with Fury paging Quake.
